That Ekong, I posted after the AFCON that he's a potential Super Eagles coach. Excellent on the pitch, and very measured, speaks so well and does not talk recklessly off it. Fantastic guy. |
Goke7:Bro. you no lie. Fear and abeg, was written over that their press release. I entertain no fear as I know the team will be evacuated from Libya soon. I am more interested in the actions taken afterwards by CAF on this issue. |
TheSuperNerd:Bro, those ones.....I have no words for them |
humility33:Guy, with the virality of this issue and the way the news outlets and prominent and influential peeps around the world are posting about it, the presidency is already involved. Right now, calls are being made. Phones are being banged. People who are directly and indirectly involved are on their toes and all buttons are being pressed trying to find a resolution to this issue. NFf Sports Ministry Ministry of Foreign Affairs Foreign embassies This issue has international dimensions with our foreign-based players who are employees of foreign clubs with some being dual citizens. A lot is going on behind the scenes., trust me. We are "outsiders" and its unfair to assume that the presidency is not involved at this point. |
This issue has gone viral worldwide and is the stuff of podcasts. I'm glad we won the internet/social media information war over Libya on this one. I expect a lot of our players to appear on podcasts in the coming weeks and months to talk about this stuff. Even SuperSports go milk the issue on that African football Show that features Peterside Idah. It'd be an interesting few months to look up to |
humility33:Mr Adepoju tweet is inciting and aims to pit Nigerians against the NFF and the Sports Minister. I am certain the NFF and Sports Minister are doing everything they can but somethings are out of their direct control in this matter. I say this as someone who has been involved in Protocol and Logistics operations in the past. |
opes:Poor damage control. Anyone with a brain can read between the lines of the Libyan FF response. The conciliatory tone screams guilt and the excuses are shallow I hope CAF sanctions the Libya FF severely. |

Where is lovewins or is it lovewin? I'd like to read his detailed account of this Super Eagles - Libya issue. |
That Dr Penking on twitter is so annoying. Just look at his tweets on this Super Eagles - Libya issue |
semid4lyfe:Wifey has joined all those bulk purchase foodstuff sharing groups to obtain food stuff cheaper. Yam is now so pricey so we have ditched it completely and buy potatoes instead. I transferred my kids to their school's permanent site which is uncompleted but a stone throw from the house. Distance is like from Pako to Chemist in Akoka so dem dey waka go and dey waka come back. I now stagger the payment of my kids school fees. I pay for the elder in one month and the younger one the next month. DSTV, I don stop subscription. Thankfully, I'm not a TV or football person. To keep the kids entertained, I downloaded binge compilations of their favourite cartoons from youtube onto my external HDD and that's what they watch during their TV time, The way I now compare substitute/alternative products and do cost-quantity analysis when buying groceries these days, you go fear. ![]() X milk is 950g but is N5000, Y milk is 1000g but is 5500. X milk is actually better value for money. ![]() My mechanic has called me several times to "greet me" but me know say him no dey see work like before and so money no dey touch him hand again, hence the calls. No be motto wey dem dey drive, dem dey carry go mechanic? I could relate and feel the pain of that TV presenter who said she doesn't feel middle class anymore and walked off air. The middle class have been dragged down and are now closer to touching poverty. Truth is Nigeria has become too expensive to live in. We are stuck in a rut, and it doesn't appear as if things will get better anytime soon or even later. ****End of rant**** |
Gerrard59:Before the band A categorization of my area, I was running my home per month with 172.5 units which cost 10k with extreme management. I had stopped using water heater, electric stove, electric kettle, electric jug, sandwich toaster, microwave and all those heat generating electrical kitchen appliances. All bulbs in my home are energy saving bulbs. The bulbs in the living room, dinning area, bedrooms and kitchen are 20w while those in the balconies, bathrooms, toilets and terraces are 5w. My two ACs hadn't been used in years. Even during the period of heatwave, na ceiling fans/standing fan we dey use. I switch off the Fridge and Deep Freezer every night before going to bed and switch them back on in the morning. I had ditched my steam pressing iron about 2 years ago and got one of those sturdy fairly-used pressing iron used by tailors.......and when ironing, I switch off the TVs, the Fridge and Deep Freezer to conserve the electricity units. When doing laundry with the washing machine, I also switch off the Fridge, Deep Freezer and TVs. I monitored the use of electricity to ensure that lights, ceiling fans, electricity sockets were never left on indiscriminately. On 6th of July, I did my monthly 10k electricity recharge and got the shock of my life when I was credited with only 44 units. Unknown to me, my area had been migrated quietly to Band A on July 1st . Now for me to obtain the equivalent 172.5 units I was getting with 10k, I'll have to cough out 40k, a whopping 300% increase. With the exorbitant electricity tarrif, fuel price, cost of public transportation, cooking gas and the massive inflation in staple foods, food stuff, groceries and consumer good etc Why people no go complain? NB: I live in the poorest and least industrialized state in the South East but which is reputed to have the best power supply. |
opes:And Finidi's solution was to call up carpenters like Benjamin Tianimu and Sodiq Ismail? When there were better and more capable players like Igo Ogbu, Olisa Ndah and Bruno Onyemaechi that could have been invited. Also, why the continuous invitation of an old "otu" keeper Olorunleke Ojo when there are younger and better performing goalkeepers like Amas Obasogie, Christian Nwoke and Kayode Bankole in the NPFL? Finidi apart from being tactically inept and technically deficient was shady with his player invitations. Eguavoen is a better coach than Finidi in all aspects. |
lbrichman2:Una don forget say some regulars on this thread were pushing the same agenda a while back? |
JohnBullMySon:Perhaps, you should read my post again but this time slowly and dispassionately so it will sink in. If you re-read the post and still interprete it as a comparison of Maduka to Alisson, then you have a comprehension problem. I watched Nwabali during the AFCON, the post AFCON friendlies, the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers, and that's enough to make a balanced assessment that he's better than Okoye. |
BankyGee:Simon Mignolet was the undisputed no 1 in Liverpool for a long time and had lots of good performances , occasionally making gaffes and letting in cheap goals. Eventually, the club concluded he just wasn't good enough, and realised they were not going to win titles with him so they got Alisson Becker. Thereafter, Liverpool won the Champions League and the Premier League titles. No be coincidence. Like Mignolet, like Okoye. We are not going far or winning any competition with Okoye in goal. If you think he's the reincarnation of Buffon, that's fine. I think he's jittery, has poor judgement, error prone and not a dependable goalkeeper. We can agree to disagree. At the end, we all want the best for the Super Eagles and I'll be happy to be proven wrong. |
junnyjake:I've seen a few other games too. Guy shakes like a jellyfish and reminds me of Daniel Akpeyi. There's no save he's made that a half decent keeper shouldn't have made. I'm happy he's first choice in his club and he plays regularly but I am not impressed by him. I wouldn't even have him as 2nd choice goalie in the Super Eagles. I pray nothing happens to Nwabali and he'll always be available for our games cos his absence will be too loud when we have to rely on Maduka Okoye |
junnyjake:Stop mincing words and say it as it is. He isn't good enough. Watched him against Inter Milan and I wasn't impressed. |
TemporaryHansel:Replied. |
TemporaryHansel:Send and mention me when you've done so. |
Alhassan Yusuf: Decent. Though not physically imposing, he's a good ball holder and passer, can advance our play, break down opponent attacks with good anticipation, positioning and interceptions. He was undoubtedly our most impressive player in our first game against Equatorial Guinea at the AFCON and had decent showing in all the subsequent appearances he made from the bench. Perhaps, not worthy of a starting berth but definitely a good squad player and one that can be relied upon when the need arises. His moving to MLS hasn't reduced his quality so I'm glad he's in the team. Benjamin Tiaminu = Error and babanla otu. I blame Finidi George for him ever donning our jersey and the continuing charade by AE. Igoh Ogbu is a better and more deserving player. Kelechi Iheanacho &:Taiwo Awoniyi: Based on current form, both should have been dropped. I was hoping to see Akor Adams & Tolu Arokodare (Elijah Adebayo) make the list. AE don dey do the typical local coach jibiti |
charlesemeka85:How can an active professional football player who was not out injured be this unfit? It only shows he's not serious with his football career. |
charlesemeka85:Finidi George will receive cut |

In MFM, this pattern of near misses when it matters most is labelled FAILURE AT THE EDGE OF BREAKTHROUGHS not a lack of grace. |
daveP:You dey fear to mention the name with your full chest? |
Itsrm:Hmm, pap is not as good as manufactured cereals and it'll definitely tell on a baby in terms of growth and freshness. I had my 3rd and last child in January this year and he was born at 3.8kg. He started eating at 3 & half months when wifey was preparing to resume back to work from maternity leave. Due to the exorbitant cost of baby cereals, we opted for home made pap and the made-in-Nigeria cerelac to feed him. Wifey buys the ingredients (yellow corn, guinea corn, millet, date, coconut, ginger, cloves and unripe plantain) and makes the pap herself, which is a dark brown colour. NAN milk is added to the baby's pap when it's prepared to feed him. Now, it's established that with good nutrition, babies should ordinarily double their birth weights at 6 months but when baby went for his 6 months immunization, he weighed 7.4kg. In contrast, his older siblings who were born at lower weights of 3.5kg and 3.25kg, and fed exclusively with Frisogold, imported Cerelac & NAN milk weighed 8.3kg and 8kg respectively at 6 months. Baby is healthy and very active, and has even hit some developmental milestones faster than his siblings but our conclusion is that his size is due to the lower nutritional input. In conclusion, ogi no fit do the work wey imported baby cereals dey do. If you see fresh and chubby baby, check well cos no be pap dem dey chop. |
Deltamani:Baba, football is essentially football whether male or female. The coaches who won laurels with the falcons were able to do so because of the gulf in quality between our players and those of other african countries due to the head-start advantage we had in female football development. Now the other African countries; SA, Morocco, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zambia etc have closed the gap with regard to players quality by constituting women leagues and recruiting dual-citizenship players which has made matches more competitive. So what will make the difference and keep the Falcons at the top will be top-class coaching, and these coaches are not the coaches in the NWPL Neither are they the teams ex-internationals like Florence Omagbemi, Eucharia Uche, Ann Chiejene or Mercy Akide-Udoh, all whom I consider to be vapid tactic-wise with their obsolete formations. That's why I advocate for the any of the 3 coaches I mentioned earlier who I consider to be the best locally. |
lovewins:I agree with you wholeheartedly. In addition to your points, must the super falcons be coached exclusively by the team's ex-players or career-female football coaches? I've heard Florence Omagbemi, Ann Chiejine, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Eucharia Uche and Perpetua Nkwocha speak and they do not seem tactically adept, technically astute or inspire confidence. Na so so religiousity, prayer and God dem dey trumpet ![]() If we're going local. I prefer we go for the best hands; a male who is proven and tested in coaching at the senior level and has managed adult teams not kids. I'll have suggested the NFF Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen but I suspect he'll be at the helms of the Super Eagles for a while and combining that with the role of the Super Falcons coach may be unworkable. So I'm thinking Fidelis Ilechukwu, Imama Amapakabo or Daniel Ogunmodede would be perfect for the job. If Herve Rennard with all his experience,, achievements and coaching laurels can be coach of the French National Female team, why should we restrict our most successful national football team to being coached by inexperienced female ex-internationals and B-grade foreign coaches.? We might as well try our proven coaches in the NPFL. |
Philosopher1979:I agree 7 goals in 19 appearances isn't stellar for a striker but my opinion is not restricted to his goals tally. It's more about his skillset and attributes - positioning, threat-factor, pace, game contribution and all round play. I watched the full match of Montpellier vs Nice (Akor Adams vs Terem Moffi) last season with both starting and although neither of them scored, it was as clear as day that Akor was the better striker. ,........and oh, it's not just a one-match opinion. As for Gift Orban, he can be quite anonymous in games and I'm not yet convinced about him |
SamueItem337:In my opinion, our best striker in France. Definitely better than Gift Orban and Terem Moffi |
Goal! 1 nil japan. Lazy defending, ball watching from Nigerian players. Likely to become worse. I no dey watch again. |
