Politics / Who Made Lagos Prosperous by senatorbayor(m): 8:24pm On Jul 21, 2022 |
The much ado about a man making Lagos prosperous and friction with my Igbo brothers. They say someone made Lagos to be a prosperous state and as such , aliens or imigrants like our brothers and sisters from the East should give credit to the man who provided the enabling environment for them to be successful. Hmmmm, but they didn't tell us that same man was made who he is today by relocating to Lagos from his village All what he acquired today were through his relationship with Lagos He is also like every other imigrants . Infact , some of those we accused of being imigrants were actually born in Lagos and by naturalisation, they are lagosians. People have been successful in Lagos even before the said man Became gov of Lagos and the people they are tagging as outcast actually contributed immensely to the growth of Lagos as well through their businesses and investments. If we want to hold the notion that Lagos is made successful by the singular effort of the landlord of Lagos , how come we have lots of people esp the acclaimed omo onile still struggling in Lagos How come the land didn't single them out and make them successful How come that the said imigrants are the one even buying the omo onilu family houses and developing it to modern taste How come that same omo onilu will give the imigrants their family houses to develop as developer for over 20 years while they are paid rental income The reason for all these is cos someone sees opportunities where we the so call indigenes didn't see They were hardworking and made use of the opportunity we neglected cos of our ownership mentality You don't have to accuse them of being ungrateful or challenge them of not going to their base to develop it too You don't have to create friction with them It's just like Nigerians traveling abroad , they see themselves first as imigrants , they start looking for opportunities and even do jobs that so call citizens won't dare do And before you say jack , they have buy houses and become employers of same people who are citizens of that country The main reasons for this is cos they saw opportunities where citizens or indigine didn't see And if they see , they are acting bigmanism cos of omo onilu mentality That's why even an aboki will come to Lagos with nylon bag and become wealthy with time . They do those jobs we see as dirty jobs and with time , they begin to create wealth Same thing is applicable to NIGERIANS who go abroad with just a Ghana must go bag With time, they become wealthy and a threat to the lazy indigenous people or citizens Instead of having frictions with imigrants , why not ask them to show you ways or opportunities as long as it's legal Stop blaming your inability to make it on others And one more thing, if you Travel to any country or state and you didn't see an Igbo man there ... Please leave on time It means there is no opportunity there You can't stop loving them for their industrious lifestyle SB writes from his cubicle in OBIDIENT avenue 1 Like

Nairaland / General / Ipob Boycott Of Election. Ill Advised by senatorbayor(m): 12:46am On Feb 15, 2019 |
My take on IPOB and BOYCOTT OF ELECTION.. Why Nnamdi Kanu should call off the Boycott While it's the right of individual, group ,Tribe ,race to choose how to exercise their rights and privileges It's also good to apply such rights in a way that it Will be beneficiary to themselves and their reasons for exercising such rights I have always been an adovate of self expressions, a Democrat and lover of freedom of speech and a true Democrat I love when people express their grievances using all legal means as long as their messages will get through I equally stood by the IPOB in their agitation for true federalism , freedom from oppressors and a new nation I was also a strong critics of this present gov't of buhari when it tagged IPOB as terrorist group I made it clear that such tags wont stand I proclaimed it dead on arrival I stood firmly with their leader NK while he was unjustly detained and denied justice I sounded a warning to this govt that their continous treatment of Nnamdi kanu will make him an hero I was proved right thereafter I equally condemned the invasion of Kanu home town by the military It was obvious the govt was fighting a lost battle If same gov't was soft on fulani herdsmen despite their killings and couldn't see their activisies as terrorism, then it has no justification to do so for the IPOB members who seems to have global acceptance and recognition While I supported the IPOB and its leaders and some of their agitations, that didn't stop me when I condemned Nnamdi Kanu reappearance in Israel while he made a national broadcast condemning the lost of his DOG during the raid of his house before he escaped I was filled with raged and felt his act was inhuman I wrote an article which is circulated online about his act and condemned it so strongly I made it clear that he never acted like a leader A lot of my IGBO friends agreed with me and saw reasons in my opinion Just some days ago.. Nigerians woke up to the news about an order that my good brothers and sisters from the east especially the good loving people of IPOB should boycott this coming election At first, I took it as some electioneering gimmicks Later when I saw some IPOB members rallying the state of anambra calling for boycott, i felt this was wrongly advised While I am an advocate of people obeying their leaders , i think leaders should equally feel the impulse of their followers and give directives that will be beneficiaries This call for boycott is completely ill advised It won't do the igbo race a good deal You can't sit at home to make a statement especially when the election is all about what you have been agitating for We've heard of marginalization and calls for restructuring If a political party decided to consider some of your agitation, the best to do is to order your members to support such party while you use your numerical strength to negotiate a better deal for your people IPOB is more of a pressure group now That doesn't mean they should become a political group. (It's a choice) We've seen so many pressure group using its peer influence to change govt policy This is what I am expecting from NNAMDI Kanu and his group At this juncture I urge Nnamdi kanu to retract his calls for boycott and urge his people to go out enmass and follow the party that they feel has the interest of their people at heart... Boycotting a general election at this decisive time is not a good idea .. It has been established that the IPOB group is a big influential group and its leaders commands great respect from them They should seize this privilege to make a statement Use their numerical strength to right the wrongs of the past and make their members stakeholders in this nation The contributions of the IGBO people to Nigeria economy is too great for them to play second fiddle Without much ado, I urge all my brothers and sisters in the eastern states and accross Nigeria to come out enmass and cast their votes to the party that seems to have put them into consideration The IPOB as a group have come to stay They are part of a better Nigeria and together we shall make Nigeria work again I shall be tagging this post to all IPOB and biafra agitators now hoping we get a change of order before the date of election which is just one day now Senatorbayor writes from his cubicle 14/02/19

Nairaland / General / Okonjo-iweala Aims To Be First Female, African President Of World Bank by senatorbayor(m): 2:50pm On Jan 25, 2019 |
Okonjo-Iweala aims to be first female, African president of World Bank Published January 25, 2019 Sequel to the resignation of World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, eligible candidates have started to signify interest in the top job. One of them is Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who has also expressed her readiness to take on the job. Speaking with CNN’s Richard Quest on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Okonjo-Iweala said, “If the right person were to nominate, and if the circumstances are right and if people feel that I can do the job, yes.” If Okonjo-Iweala gets the job, she would be the first female and first African to head the global bank in its 73 years in existence. The current president of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, had earlier in January announced that he would be stepping down from his position after more than six years in which the institution’s shareholders provided strong support to multiple initiatives to ensure that the Bank Group retained strong leadership in the world of global development. Kim said in a statement, “It has been a great honour to serve as president of this remarkable institution, full of passionate individuals dedicated to the mission of ending extreme poverty in our lifetime. “The work of the World Bank Group is more important now than ever as the aspirations of the poor rise all over the world, and problems like climate change, pandemics, famine and refugees continue to grow in both their scale and complexity. Serving as president and helping position the institution squarely in the middle of all these challenges has been a great privilege" The World Bank is an international financial institution that provides loans to countries of the world for capital projects. It comprises two institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the International Development Association. The World Bank is a component of the World Bank Group. Okonjo was at one time, the Minister of Finance in Nigeria under former presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. According to Wikipedia, she has been at the World Bank for 25 years, where she rose to the position of a Managing Director, (Operations). She sits on the Boards of Standard Chartered Bank, Twitter, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, and the African Risk Capacity. https://punchng.com/okonjo-iweala-aims-to-be-first-female-african-president-of-world-bank/ |
Nairaland / General / Pmb And His Anti Party Activities by senatorbayor(m): 1:11am On Jan 11, 2019 |
Till date , its still worrisome about the way PMB accommodated Amosun and his candidate (Akinlade) who came to do four by four sign with him PMB sent a wrong signal and a sign of a weak leader You accommodated a man who have vowed to work against candidates of your own party and he is not hiding it but doing it openly You went as far as aligning with same candidate slugging it out with your party candidate and did the four by four sign in aso rock while your own party chairman Oshiomole was fuming about suspending Amosun for anti party activities PMB for crying out loud is the leader of the party His body language and disposition speak volumes His inactions when actions are needed speak a lot and pass strong messages His actions send strong signal to either strengthen or weaken his party leaders and followers PMB Is playing the biggest anti party activities He is placing his personal ambition above party supremacy He is laying a bad precedence that will be referenced to He is making mockery of his party chairman's position and the chieftains He is endorsing disloyalty and creaming anti party He has by his actions become a double faced human lacking integrity and honour esp to the ideals of his party Leaders should be decisive , firm and objective They subject themselves to rules of the organization they are leading They provide leadership and ensure everyone is whipped into lines in conforming to the guiding rules In politics, they won't condone anti party or anyone working against their party interest They will make strong statements about where they stand and dare the consequences no matter whose ox is gored.. Just 4 days ago, the PDP suspended or sack its party National VC for anti party and next day, same man moved to APC Their action by suspending him shows they are decisive not minding the consequences People like okorocha ,Amosun should have been wield out of the party for openly working against the party Nothing bad if APC sacrificed them and their positions to send a lesson PDP did it in Imo state when they decided not to field any candidate for governorship election cos the person they wanted (charles Ugwu ) was upstaged by Ararume whom they never wanted. Though the supreme court then gave Ararume the right to contest but PDP felt he ought to exhaust the internal mechanism of conflict resolution and abide by its rules It decided not to field any candidate I remember that was how Ohakim of Imo state in APGA became Gov.. Then PDP had all the machineries to win the election but they decided to make a statement that they won't condone indiscipline This is what is needed in APC to strengthen it and deepening democracy Sadly, when individuals are becoming more powerful than the organisation they belong.. This breeds impunity When the leadership of the party are weak in taking decisions.. This breeds disloyalty and indiscipline.. I hope Amosun is not referencing tinubu actions in 2011 when he worked for GEJ and abandoned his party candidate Ribadu I hope he is not referencing Tinubu and Aregbe when they worked against akeredolu and supported olusola oke in AD .. I hope these ain't making buhari hands to be tied and in trying to play fairness. He ended up playing anti party and support for disloyalty .. I expect PMB to apologise to his party Make a categorical pronouncement condemning his error and openly endorsed his party candidates in those states their govs have vouched to work against them He should not only endorsed but be physically seen to do it.. He should denounce Amosun and Okorocha openly to show he does not agree with their acts He should not placed his ambition above the party positions..... Party supremacy will strengthen democracy..

Nairaland / General / 2019: Buhari, A Poor Student Of History- Atiku by senatorbayor(m): 4:47pm On Dec 18, 2018 |
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has dismissed President Muhammadu Buhari’s promise to provide the opposition a level playing ground that he was “denied in the past,” describing the statement as an indication that the President is a poor student of history. Speaking to a delegation from the International Republican Institute, IRI, and the National Democratic Institute, NDI, on Monday, President Buhari reportedly said: “I am prepared to give the opposition the opportunities I was not given in the past.’’ In a sharp response however, Atiku said records do not lie, arguing that as a then opposition figure, the PDP government accorded Buhari maximum protection not only as a former Head of State but also as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In a statement signed by his media aide, Paul Ibe and made available to newsmen yesterday, Atiku urged President to take a trip down Memory Lane and compare the past with the present. He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari ran for the office of the President of Nigeria in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015 under the PDP (led government). Not once during those intervening years was he arrested, molested or persecuted in any way, shape or form. On the re-electability of President Buhari (6) “As a matter of fact, immediately after his experience with Boko Haram terrorists in Kaduna on July 24, 2014, the then PDP administration bought Mr. Buhari a $300,000 dollar armoured and bombproof SUV for his protection. Mr. Buhari received the vehicle which helped save his life. “Never were Muhammadu Buhari or his relative’s accounts frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, INEC, or any other government agencies under the PDP and never were his running mates, children, friends and family targeted. “Muhammadu Buhari participated in several protests and marches, including the Occupy Nigeria movement and the 2014 All Progressives Congress, APC march in Abuja and was not arrested or persecuted by the PDP.” The former Vice President in a veiled salvo, also called the attention of President Buhari to the manner the electoral umpire was treated under the administration of Nigeria’s Immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan. “The PDP ensured that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was independent and appointed disinterested individuals to its board including Professor Attahiru Jega, who then President Jonathan had never met before his appointment.
