Rubbish analysis by a bigoted PDP supporter

The article is very biased and an attempt at Wailing

The same APC government you accuse of incompetence and hatred for the SE/SS, made provision for a coastal rail infrastructure between Lagos and Calabar- benefiting several SE and SS states

The efforts of the government is being frustrated by selfish senators who want Buhari to fail

It is an effort in futility. Buhari will rule till 2023 whether you like it or not

If the analysis is rubbish and bias, why dont you come up with yours so as to punture the position of the OP.

we are here to share ideas rather to accept dummies sold by a section of the alm of govt.

If the executive claimed they had plans for it, Why not include it in the original budget.

How come its coming as supplementary budget from a minister during budget defense.
Lets not create emotions or sensations out of the error of the executive. truth be told that the presidency did a shoddy job with the budget preparation and presentation and equally gave rooms for what is happening.

they should accept such errors as their making and move on .

This is poor reporting and investigating journalism from the stable of the Sahara reporters.
If they have an axe to grind with Saraki, they should roll up their sleeves and put same leg in same trouser with him and leave the judiciary as an institution out of their dirty mess.

Enough of destroying the institution cos of the sin of one man .

So if the CCT freed saraki tomorrow, Another allegations of bribery will be laid on the neck of the chairman. They should stop acting prejudice and allow the process of the court of law to take its due course.

It is better to stay on the side of caution that to rush because u want to prosecute or persecute someone.
Like I said, their are plethora of supreme court ratio on the right of the accused to be represented if he so wish, this is a criminal matter and the position of the law is sacrosanct.
Metuh is looking for way to be denied his right of fair hearing.
For your information, he has gotten 1 already. He challenged the Presiding judge on fair hearing, but the judge out of judicial reality refused to hand off.
In law, once the bias is alleged on the side of the judge, u hand of because it will amount to lack of fair hearing.
see section 36 (6) (c), 1999 constitution (as amended), see also SUPREME COURT on Audu v, FRN, Jang v.INEC, UNIUYO v. Nse, Oykhire v. The State, etcetera.
When u read these cases, u will see what Metuh's lawyer is plotting. He is wishing the denial of fair hearing on his counsel.

I don't have issue with defendant seeking for fair hearings.
But the act of raising unnecessary delay tactics and accusations to either buy time or kill the case is unacceptable.

Note that the chief judge ruled metuh case out when he said the presiding judge is his classmates.

If we allow every defendant to accuse a judge of bais, who will hear their case then.

It's evident that metuh does not want the trial to commence just as Saraki did in hisown case before the CCT chairman ruled him out citing section 306 and the provisions of the ICJA.
I also look forward to the NJC working assiduously on this frivolous adjournments that are applied by the suspect to delay trial or buy time
Politics / Re: Armsgate: My Lawyer Needs More Time – Metuh Begs Court by senatorbayor(m): 4:50pm On Apr 11, 2016
odikimi:

I cherished yo answer, because it is matured in nature.
the constitution in no way bars the defendant from having time to defend himself, what the constitution envisaged was timely disposition of trial.
The ACJA u r referring to is subject to the entire chapter of the constitution.
The legality of that provision has been challenged and the case is coming up on the 13th of this month.
The constitution gives right of choice of counsel to an accused person and the accused have right to substitute counsel. When he is substituted, the counsel have right to be fully abreast of the brief n proceedings and familyilure to allow that right amount to denial of fair hearing.
Lawyers always look for the loopholes of the law to delay trial which is bad, but on this the lawyer to Metuh is right.

Thanks for your compliment

The case of the legality of the ICJA comming up does not invalidate the provisions as enshrine until the supreme courts gives verdict.

Quite frankly, I agree that accused have rights to have legal representations but should not used such rights as a clog in the wheel of justice to be dispense on his case.

What will be your position if same tactics of change of legal representation at the slight of commencement of trials is adopted again by Metuh.

We must help to kick against this adjournments that tends to delay trials and move for speedy trials .

odikimi:

without any intention to spite u, u r more of your description on Metuh.
Section 36 of the constitution that deals with the fundamental human rights of an accused person avail him with right to extension of time to prepare well and get facilities to defend himself. If this right is denied, an accused can appeal against it by showing miscarriage of justice occasioned by it's denial. Metuh's lawyer knows this that is why the change of counsel midway to delay it, looking for excuse or ground of appeal.
Sorry if u feel insulted but I am telling u from the Bar, just allow Metuh to exercise his right as enshrined in our constitution. That is the beauty of democracy.

I cant in anyway feel insulted or spite even in the face of provocations . we are here to learn and share information.

You will agree with me that same constitution equally frown at frequents adjournments of cases especially use of delay tactics to buy time from the defendants especially when it involves criminal trails.

Metuh had come up with the first delay tactics of accusing the judge of being his class mate, now he is coming up with time for his lawyers to get acquainted with the proceedings.

so if by tomorrow, The same lawyers come up with some flimsy excuses of not going further with the case, he will plead for more time again foe the new lawyers and by so doing, the matter before the court is dragged for years.

Cant he borrow a leaf from orubebe who requested for speedy trials and equally wanted his trial to commence earnestly .

what then is the stands of section 306 and even the position of ICJA as well

if they have a good case , the idea of dragging court cases should be avoided and they should enter for the trial .
I thought metuh has been advocating that he should be charged to court and he is ready to open his defense .

In an ideal world, if there is a conflict of interest, which may lead to impaired judgement on the part of the Auditor, then maybe he should turn down the job, but in a Nigeria scenario during the interview, when asked if he knows any body in the company? he can state this and see where it takes him.

Thats just it bro.

Many things seems to be wrong with the audit practice in practical.
Career / Re: Thread For Auditors & Potential Auditors by senatorbayor(m): 2:45pm On Mar 31, 2016
Do we still call them Auditors or risk Management.
Any difference from the above.
I will prefer the Latter

Auditing and investigation seems to be interesting when its involved Forensic . Its appaling that Majority of the firms pay their auditors low and prefer to pay the accountant more cos they felt he is the one preparing the books forgetting that the auditor is the one checking the accuracy and documentation of the books to either qualify or disqualify it.

The only aspect an Auditor can earn big is to render consultancy services to firms but immediately you apply as an employee, You are somewhat relegated and almost been sidelined as an outcast cos the impression out that is that an auditor is coming to look for fraud forgetting that such function is the secondary .

My question to those practicing Audting is this.

why do we have most if not all audited reports been unqualified despite the existence of fraudulent activities in that organization.

Why is it difficult these days for investors to rely on the Audited report of a company ( Example is the failed banks during Soludo's and Sanusi Era , Auditors like Delloitte had performed their exercise , yet the Apex bank through its own examiners merged those banks citing weak system)

What is the role of auditors in the emerging economy crisis . how can they come in to salvage the ugly issues.

Will An Audit firm turn down an offer in an oil firm where the offer is juicy due to Familiarity threats (e.g , the family to the managing partners is the Finance Director ) And is the practicable in our Audit practice these days .

Can an aspiring Auditor who applied in a firm turned down their offers if the accountant is his blood relation (Note that the auditor has been searching for this job for some time)

Is it a breach of the ethics if he accept the offer or should he disclose to the HR his relationship with the accountant before he can accept the offer as an employee.

Hoping the Gurus and accountants/Auditors in the House will bail me out

some statements strike my position from the quotes of the senator from the article as shared .

The prosecutor has the duty to prove his case before the onus will shift to him to defend.

“If the prosecutor doesn’t have a case, then what is he defending

“We will win and that will be very interesting. What is happening in America is going to happen in Nigeria. America has a Republican Senate but the executive is led by Democrats. So, it’s happening in different parts of the world. I can tell you with what’s on the ground that we will produce the next Senate President.”

On whether Saraki should resign as Senate Presiden

Look at the former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, he went to court. People were saying he is in court, that he should be removed. He resigned as a result of pressure from the public. He went to court and won.

Take the example of Ndudi Elumelu; that was how they removed him as Chairman of Power Committee because he was taken to court. In the end, he was cleared.

The other woman in the House of Representatives, former speaker, Patricia Etteh; in fact, the House changed its own position. But they had achieved what they wanted to achieve. There are so many examples like that.

The above examples and that of Ikuforiji (former Lagos state Speaker) where the grounds I supported Saraki not to resigned until proven guilty. What if he is not found guilty, Will he return as Senate President? Does it not sound that his political fighters have achieved their aim of blackmailing him to oust him through nefarious and spurious allegations ?

EVA ADELAJA:Govt Removes Principal, Deputy, Four Teachers For ‘assaulting’ Pupil by daguru(m): 12:10pm On Mar 24
This is a follow up story on this https://www.nairaland.com/3000873/student-battered-principal-eva-adelaja

JUSTICE SERVED, Govt removes principal, deputy, four teachers for ‘assaulting’ pupil

FOR alleged inhuman treatment of a Junior Secondary Two (JS II) pupil, Principal of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School in Bariga, Lagos, Mrs C. O. Coker, Vice-Principal, Mrs Balogun and four teachers were yesterday removed by the government.

The teachers are Mr Bello (Mathematics), Mrs Tejumaye (English language), Mrs Omoge (Physic Education) and Mr Bakare (Economics).

Their removal followed the investigation into the flogging of the pupil, Ogechi Anyalewechi, on March 16 by the teachers on the principal’s instruction.

Lagos State Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Mrs Olabisi Ariyo said they were removed because of their complicity in the “assault saga”, adding: They will no longer work in the school from Thursday, March 24 (today)”.

Ogechi was flogged on her bare buttocks following an altercation with the school’s Head Girl.

The 14-year-old pupil got into trouble after slapping back the Head Girl, who reported her to the school.

Besides being caned, Ogechi was made to cut grass for over four hours.

Ogechi suffered body wounds and was taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

When the incident became public, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development Princess Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf directed the Directorate of School Social Services of her ministry to probe it.

A fact-finding team led by a director, which visited the school, on Tuesday, indicted the principal and the teachers.

Yesterday, Oghechi, her parents, the headgirl, the principal and the teachers appeared before a panel chaired by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola. Mrs Ariyo was in attendance.

The head girl, it was learnt, confessed that she slapped Ogechi and apologised for her action.

According to Princess Akinbile-Yussuf, “the Director of the School Social Services on my instruction went to the school to carry out on the spot investigation following which all those involved including the principal, the head girl, Ogechi, her parents and Tutor-General of Education District 2, were on Wednesday March 23 (yesterday), invited before a panel chaired by Muri-Okunola and his education ministry counterpart, Mrs Ariyo was also there.

“The head girl confessed that she slapped Ogechi first and apologised to her for her improper behaviour. It was also confirmed that the principal subsequently instructed some teachers to give Ogechi about 12 strokes of the cane on her backside. The principal and teachers have since been removed and will now report at the Education District 2, while the assault victim and the erring head girl were appropriately counselled by the School Social Services Directorate on the proper way to conduct themselves in school.”

She added: “We have also instructed that the victim (Ogechi) should not be harassed or molested as she returns to the school to continue her studies and her parents were happy at the outcome of the intervention.

“However, the ministry shall henceforth step up the school social services to educate both students and teachers on the best conduct in school environment across all public schools in Lagos State.”

I agree with u that the girl was rude.she could also have been rude to the teachers but that is not a justification for her to be beaten to the extent that she needs to be hospitalized. All children cannot be perfect, there are bound to deviants. How do u manage a deviant child, how do you bring out the best from somsomething bad.how do you model a child into a good role model and an inspiration for the other kids? It is not when you make a good child behave and perform well that makes you a good parent/guardian but your ability to model a deviant into something good.it is that bad child that has become that becomes the role model for others, the community and the society at large. Does the school have a guidiance/counselling department? Why didnt they send her for counselling? Have they been counselling the children before now on good conduct, etiquette? The school have failed in their duty to model a deviant child into a good role model for others to emulate.there is no justification whatsoever for meting out that punishment to the girl

God bless you real Good for this comment . You have indeed help joseph1832: to realized beating to the extent of inflicting Injuries is not all we need to train up a child . The school is a place where we raise models and the fact that all children cant be the same makes it unique.

How many schools have counseling dept again not to talk of moral instructions .
Many Ogechis have been transformed to Great women in the society .

some of us played pranks in school then and majority of us got refined through counseling and discipline as statistic have shown that children who are trained through the way these teachers and principal acted becomes more adamant and defiant.

the Great Question is this: Can the principal allow her own daughter to be dealt with in such manner Ogechi was treated ?
Today, It is Ogechi, tomorrow it might be Sholape or Amina .
There are various forms of disciplines rather to the method adopted by these teachers and principal
