Yes, after the first round of complaints I finally realised that the new featured topic notifications we implemented were responsible for part of the feeling that the HP was being updated too frequently, so we got rid of them. Now you can forget the home page until when you need it.

I suggest the mods allow a thread to have a page comments' before it's recommended for FP unless it's emergency.

This sounds sensible but implementing it as you described will lead to unintended negative consequences, so we have to make some changes.

1st commandment: some threads making frontpage these days are plain silly. Even though, the rate at which the updates roll in is nice, an increase in quantity doesn't exactly translate to an increase in quality.

Can you review all the threads posted today and let me know the ones you consider silly and the ones you consider interesting? Thanks!

Fraudulent posters, when identified, should simply be banned by the moderators.
Their fraudulent ads should also be removed.

That's what the moderators are here for. Not to "expose" scammers but to prevent them from scamming anyone on Nairaland.
Use the report to moderator feature to report fraudulent ads that you think the mods have missed.

If the mods are not doing their work, report them to the supermods so they can be replaced. That is my decision.

Asami and the fire nation general would make a better couple

No! The guy is impressive but Asami is out of his league. Asami needs someone with a great mind, not a fighter who takes orders and beats people for a living. Someone like Varrick, but without his extremely annoying quirks which only Zhu Li could possibly tolerate. Still thinking...

I've just finished watching the first 3 seasons and I just can't understand what made Kuvira and Baatar Jr evil all of a sudden. Bataar Jr was a good boy who followed his father everywhere and Kuvira was a loyal soldier who was happy to take orders. I understand that Kuvira had a disagreement with her mentor but she never showed any evilness or lust for power before that disagreement. None whatsoever. As for Baatar Jr, he seemed quite happy to work with his father when we saw him earlier, and there was no hint of conflict between them. At all. So I find it difficult to understand why, in just 3 years, they became extreme radicals with no love or respect for the people who brought them up. People they had no issues with whatsoever until the little disagreement about how to handle the demise of the earth queen came up. Makes no sense.

I'm shipping the following couples:

1) Korra and Mako because they have so much in common. They are both world-class athletes and enforcers of order. They really respect each other because they understand and value each others' exceptional accomplishments. They both love beating up bad guys. Mako likes Asami because she's very pretty and mature but he doesn't have any particular interest in things that matter to her, such as technology & business.

2) Varrick and Zhu Li. The most effective team in the Avatar universe! Zhu Li is probably too good for Varrick, but no one else would take him.

3) Asami and Repentant Baatar Jr. Now that Baatar Jr has lost Kuvira, he needs another awesome girlfriend he can achieve great (but not evil) things with. Asami is the perfect candidate. They are both brilliant, ambitious, and completely loyal to the people that they love. It'll be great!

It certainly didn't make any sense, even from the evil conquering warrior point of view. He was her most loyal follower and his engineering skills were critical to her continued success. She could have pretended to agree to Korra's demands to get him back and then simply continued the attack. She shouldn't have placed him at risk in the first place, anyway. The writers are making Kuvira stupid so she can lose in the end.

It may not be a problem for many other guys, but it is obviously very important to him, so I don't think the marriage will work. Every time she does something that seems disrespectful to him, he will think it's because of her age. Marriage is "forever", so don't settle for "less"

@justwise, please brief me on this.

It's a dumb idea. It you want a slim waist, lose weight. This so called waist training is just going to ruin your spine. These are just corsets.

The final episode is predictable. Kuvira will lose because she turned her greatest ally into her greatest enemy. She'll lose the loyalty of her army due to her treatment of her partner, and start making stupid, impulsive, crazy decisions, which will enable our heroes to defeat her.

Kuvira's super weapon is strong, but it is also slow and clumsy. Aiming it takes several seconds and firing it takes several more seconds. For some reason she feels the need to put it down when not in action, so bringing it up takes time as well. Also, it's been established that the only advantage Kuvira's army has is the super weapon, so once Korra destroys the clumsy thing while she's distracted, it's game over.

The only way the final episode could surprise me is if they let the good guys lose republic city and get forced into exile. That would be crazy!
