RomanceRe: What Will It Take For A Guy To Initiate A Relationship? by Seun(mod): 8:20am On Jan 25, 2013
@fellis: I believe that women can handle rejection. I also believe that women are certainly sensible enough to know that every romantic proposal won't be accepted. However, because handling rejection is so hard, I think it takes a lot of practice to get used to rejection. A person's first few rejections wil probably be extremely painful, depressing and embarrassing.

In a society where certain people are discouraged from make romantic proposals, I think it is likely that the painful experience of rejection during those few times that they decide to rebel against social convention and propose to someone will cause many of them to revert back to never making proposals. This is especially likely when those people have a lot of suitors who are constantly trying to date them, which makes them feel that they don't really need to make romantic proposals and deal with rejection. They can just settle for any of their suitors.

I think that if a man tells his friends "I asked that lady out and she said no", they will say, "that's normal", "there are many fish in the ocean", etc. But if a girl complains to her friends that she asked a man out and he said no, they will say "a lady is not supposed to do that", "you have made yourself cheap", etc. So she will probably never do it again, and she will never get used to dealing with rejection.

I'm pleased to inform the distinguished complainers on this thread that we have changed the text in question. It is now more "professional" since it is based on the same format used by Google and Yahoo. I hope you are satisfied, so we can move on to discussing more important things.
RomanceRe: What Will It Take For A Guy To Initiate A Relationship? by Seun(mod): 8:11pm On Jan 24, 2013
The problem with ladies initiating relationships is that they can't handle rejection. When men ask women out, they understand that the answer will be no most of the time, and it's no big deal. But once in a while when a woman asks a man out and it doesn't work, she takes it as a sign that she made a mistake by asking out a man. Well, it's not a mistake, it's just that you can't expect a people to say yes to every romantic proposal.

Does anyone know the stop rates yet?

UPDATE: I think the stop rate for the 91 day t-bill must be below 11.4%, down from 11.55% at the last auction.
IslamRe: 12 Amazing Tips To Become A Better Muslim by Seun(mod): 5:39pm On Jan 24, 2013
fellis: Are you saying you are not actually an atheist?
I don't believe that gods exists, because there is no good evidence to support that, but I'm not necessarily insisting that gods do not exist.

That makes me a negative atheist, I guess.
1. The Negative Atheist: I don’t believe God exists.
2. The Positive Atheist: I believe God does not (or cannot) exist.
http://www.dbskeptic.com/2008/05/15/a-primer-on-negative-weak-atheism/
Positive atheism is like a religion, since there's no proof that gods don't exist, so I've decided to do away with that claim.

Ola0711: Seun is a religious bigot...do muslims really understand the meaning of TOLERANCE?
I am not a Muslim. I was born into a truly Christian "SU" family but I am a non-theist now. I have never been a Muslim in my life.

Afam4eva: A company once offered to buy nairaland for $1 million and the owner refused.
Really? Wow! Which company? Maybe the reason I didn't take the mouth-watering offer was because nobody told me about it. angry
Christianity EtcRe: Questions? Comments? Complaints? Talk To The Moderators Here by Seun(mod): 4:13pm On Jan 24, 2013
manmustwac: We have a thread in the mod section where we all drop links of topics from all our various sections of which topics we think will do well on the homepage but then mukina who selects them ignores over 90%, goes to the various sections and chooses her own topics.
Mukina2 is required to post every topic submitted by moderators or to explain why she decided not to post them. If indeed she is ignoring your topics, that would be a serious offence on her part, so you should send me some evidence so I can investigate. Send me the topics you submitted which mukina2 refused to post. If indeed she's ignoring 90% of the submitted topics, then there must be dozens of such topics by now since you are also required to submit a topic from your section every day., so send them to me ASAP by PM.

I'm sorry that you were offended by the notice, but I think it's important to provide that information, because people want to know.

Late military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha is here pictured with his wife, Maryam with affection written all over their faces.
They probably loved each other, but I can't really see any signs of affection in the pictures above.

It depends on where you live. If you live in Lagos Island or Abuja, N135k is nothing. If you live in a village, then it's a lot of money.

You will find out when you're ninety, but no one will listen to you because you'll be perceived as a senile old man.

gboss4sure: Grab the woman couple and flog the hell outta her
You must be a wife-beating male chauvinist pig. You're so excited about the idea of flogging the hell outta a woman that you failed to notice or chose to ignore the fact that the offense was committed by a couple i.e. a man and his wife. People like you should be rounded up and shipped to the Middle East, where you belong. (Apologies to the Middle East.)
