The air in my area is very foggy and stings.  Some people are calling it "harmattan" but it's hot and not dry.

I think this phenomenon is known as smog and it happens when warm air high in the atmosphere prevents polluted air from factories and car exhausts from rising and dispersing into the upper atmosphere.  So the pollutants mixed with water vapour continue to build up in the lower atmosphere, leading to the effects we're seeing.

Where are you based?  Are you experiencing this in your area?  Let's find out how far this reaches and how bad.

UPDATE: Some people are saying it's the effect of a Sahara desert dust storm.  If true, it would also explain the stinging/choking effect.

I also have my reservations concerning her behaviour, but I think it's time we let out all the bad blood and concentrate on building Naija for the sake of our children unborn.Enough of the hatred and name calling. What would u do if u had a driver who falls ill and decides to go on medical treatment with your car keys and vehicle particulars, all atempts to see him is being frustrated by the wife. Eventually, u break into the car, get a new driver, still yet the wife engages touts and street urchins to intimidate your new driver. As a result of these events u miss business meetings and your investors leave u.
What would u do? What would be your opinionof your driver's wife?

Yar'adua is no longer in power, and probably never will because he's terminal.  Here's a proper analogy: your driver (Yar'adua) got sick so you hired another driver (Goodluck) to take his place, but instead of being satisfied you decide to lynch his wife saying she's a witch.  It's not in good taste.

If it's voluntary, how is it different from just joining the police or the army?

For a protest to be successful, you have to make clear and unambiguous demands. E.g. when ASUU goes on strike, they make a demand that we won't return until salaries are increased by X%. Imagine the NLC calling a strike and when you ask what they want, all they can say is "enough is enough". What is enough? What are you demanding? If you don't have specific demands then you're just disturbing the peace.

What's happening to Turai is like being lynched by an rabid, blood-thirsty mob.  It doesn't mean you're guilty.

We can save more lives by remaining united and seeking constructive solutions.  War is not nation-building.

You can achieve all the purported benefits of division without actually dividing the country.  Just ask all south-
erners to leave the north.  If that seems unrealistic to you, then how could a break-up possibly work?

If the clerics have broken the law, let them be arrested and charged to court.  If not, let the laws be amended. 
These are not issues that justify destroying the little development we have achieved.  Democracy can work.
Even in the current corrupt system, we have had shining stars like Fashole, Donald Duke, Ribadu, Dora.
