Really? That would be great, since I hope to choose an ideal camera based on Amazon.com user reviews.

Thanks, nferyn. Thanks, Raymand.

Can you advice me on what specific microphone, DV camera and lighting system I should buy?
There are so many brands, specifications, models, it's all so confusing and I've tried to understand it.
Will a well-lit movie shot on a VHS camcorder be acceptable to a TV station for instance?

Advice on how I can buy it in Nigeria would also be lovely. Is it compulsory to import it? Thanks.
TV/MoviesRe: I Need A Digital Video Camera by Seun(mod): 8:34pm On Oct 18, 2006
Thanks for that insight. What camera would you recommend as a cheap camera? I'm worried that actors that look or sound good on cheap cameras might not look so good on more expensive cameras. So I'm thinking that maybe the camera should not be so cheap that a VCD created with it will look ugly. Then I'm thinking, "if I'm spending that much money for a 'cheap' camera why not buy the best one?" So I'm completely confused. Completely!

What I wish I could do is run a low budget one man movie production operation and actually make enough to cover costs. But since that appears impossible, I'm wondering what the next option should be and I'm confused. Help!
TV/MoviesRe: I Need A Digital Video Camera by Seun(mod): 6:49pm On Oct 18, 2006
My plan is to get a VCD quality camera for learning and then rent a more serious camera (HD/cinema quality) later. Although, to be sincere, I'm thoroughly confused at this point.

I feel that with a cheap camera I can conduct auditions, rehersals, youtube videos, etc. I feel that with the cheap camera I'll gain experience that will help me to get better results when I'm renting the super cameras.

Or what do you think? huh

Thanks!
And where do they rent solid cameras, anyway? I know of no directory.

Hello,

Where do you think I can get a very good video camera for someone with a low budget? I only need VCD quality for now, and I really want to buy from a shop that has a lot of video cameras to sell.

I know about:
http://www.computerport.biz/categorylanding/C23/c39
http://www.whogobuy.com/biz/brownmark/listings/
http://shopforless.com/Nigeria/shop/products.asp?cat=12&sub=68

The cameras in these places seem to be either expensive or of unknown quality.
Do you have any advice for me? I want to get the camera as soon as possible! 20-40k budget, max 60k.

Thanks.

Maybe our dances are boring? No, it may be because choreographers are yet to discover the movie industry.

TV/MoviesRe: There Is Nothing New In Nollywood by Seun(mod): 10:48am On Oct 18, 2006
What Nollywood really needs is a movie review service that will promote the "top ten" Nigerian films every week. This will make it easier for consumers to find the best movies in the market and encourage producers to do better.
TV/MoviesRe: 'Widow' Movie With Stella Damascus (Kingsley Ogoro Productions) by Seun(mod): 10:36am On Oct 18, 2006
Come 26th of October 2006 Kingsley Ogoro Productions in collaboration with SOfye (Stella Omu Foundation For Family And Youth Empowerment) will be premiering the Movie “WIDOW” starring Stella Damasus Aboderin at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, F.C.T.

Following the huge success of the Lagos Widow premiere Concert and the popular demand to feature the movie in all the states in the federation, it became necessary for an Abuja concert to be packaged as a start to serve as a social crusade, nerve soothing tonic for the people of the Federal Capital Territory as well as generating support for the Widow’s and their children.

There will be performances by some of the best notable artistes including

P-Square, African China, Sammie Okposo, Angelica, Jeremiah Gyang, Mike Aremu, I Go Dye, AY and Malik. The premiere will also have in attendance Nollywood celebrities like RMD, Nkem Owoh (Osuofia), Genevive Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Segun Arinze, Yemi Solade and other eminent personalities.
Are you planning to attend? It might be a lot of fun.

ProgrammingRe: Iis And Apache Apllication Server For Php Dev On Windows Platform by Seun(mod): 6:03pm On Oct 17, 2006
I expect apache to crash less often, due to Microsoft's reputation. Really, whatever works is fine. If you have problems with IIS, you can simply switch to Apache. Apache 2.0 with lightweight threads should be as fast as IIS.

PoliticsRe: Why Is Nigeria Not Working? by Seun(mod): 5:40pm On Oct 17, 2006
Nigeria is not a team and it does not have to be. You cannot have a "team" with 100 million people. The only social structure that can accomodate 100 million people is known as a market. The role of the government is to prevent the participants in this national market from cheating each other, stealing, and engaging in violence.

If the government can focus on that and achieve it, then the people of Nigeria will enjoy faster prosperity.
If not, we'll still survive. We, the people of Nigeria who live in Nigeria, are resilient. We own our own fates!
IslamRe: Is Terrorism A Muslim Problem? by Seun(mod): 5:32pm On Oct 17, 2006
Judaism is as violent as Islam if not more.
Muslims should please emulate the Jews and practice their 'violent' religion in a more civil manner.
It's a matter of interpretation. The religion is not so different, but it's interpreted in a violent manner.

Nairaland GeneralRe: The Monetary Value Of Nairaland by Seun(mod): 5:16pm On Oct 17, 2006
If a rational investor wants to buy Nairaland for 10 million naira, it means the site can generate that much. In that case, it would be best for me to stick with the site and earn my 10 million naira naturally while retaining control. It's not as if there's an operation I need to perform urgently that needs 10 million naira. There's no need to hurry.
PoliticsRe: Why Is Nigeria Not Working? by Seun(mod): 5:13pm On Oct 17, 2006
When people ask whether Nigeria is working, they are not talking about a geographical region. Or are they?

Hmm, I guess the question is ambiguous. I interpreted it to mean, "are the people of Nigeria moving forward?" and my answer is "yes!" You may have interpreted it to mean, "is the government of Nigeria performing?"

The only person that can determine the correct interpretation of this question is shinystar, the original poster.
