InvestmentRe: Top 10 Best Nig. Investment Banks In This Meltdown Period? by seunallday: 10:12am On Jun 08, 2009
damn, dis is the best forum eva, currently servin at a securites firm, in fact, currently running the place as me boss is in ghana for cfa and Musa the second in command is just an ignorant figure head, and i have major plans for investment bankin, dis has been a lotta help, tanx a lot folks,

i tink IBs exposure, or at least their securities wing, to d last stock market brouhaha has destabilised things a bit, many of these firms asre exposed madly to debt, and are not in a favourable position, a good number of dem did nt have much business until a couple of months ago, i know for a fact that meristem has cut salaries, 40% now to be performance based,

Jarus:
Investment banking has different aspects(Corporate Finance, Stockbroking, Wealth/asset mgt, Trade/project finance etc), and some of these institutions have different aspects as their stronghold. For example, when I was in one of these institutions(Vetiva, to be precise), we were very strong in Corporate Finance and in fact there was hardly any big merger and acquisition and capital raising exercise we didn't partake in, whether as issuing house or financial adviser. Our hands were full then, and we even had to be rejecting some offers we considered too small. This was during the banking/insurance consolidation period. However, we were not very strong in stockbroking and asset management. When it comes to asset management, IBTC easily had it then.
true IB is quite diverse but like my boss says, d bread and butter is still stockbroking, issuing house deals dont come in dat often, how reaally true is dis,

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Beware Of Marketing Vacancies In Banks! by seunallday: 3:19pm On Jun 01, 2009
@mjbaba, point of correction, the bank is not the biggest employer of labour in the country, , agriculture is, followed by the government, in the private sector, yeah, but there are more pple trading in this coutry than working in banks,

for the rest of y'all, your job is ur job, if u  dont like it,, then quit, no one forced you to be a bank marketer, if u r , then try to prove u will be of value elsewhere in the coy, if u dont like ur job, quit and go home,

u pple forget that these banks r not charity organisations, it is not to the benevolence of the baker we owe our bread,  so therefor these banks make money from the deposits marketrs bring in, if that is what they employ u for, den do it and stop complainin, if u dont like ur job, quit. angry

TV/MoviesRe: The Wolverine Movie, Lagos And The Igbo Language by seunallday: 5:09pm On May 22, 2009
u guys r forgetting that, while the scenes a whooping TWO were nt well researched at all, nigerian soldiers are nt dressed like dat, they only brought in a biafra angle and ran with it, they couldnt have come to lagos for dat scen, it was all CGI'ed, it would hav been unnecesarily expensive. even other locations around the world are nt shot at the exact spots, like in rules of engagement, kuwait was actually morrocco,

the film wasnt bad at all sha.

Badriyyah:
The movie was crap, lol. Even Wolverine would be pissed off. Try play the game demo and see the difference. And I wasn't impressed by the Nigeria scene, Grafitti in a village?lol It was hilarious.
u go talk say u neva c, lol

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Kind Of Job Can A Criminologist Get In Nigeria? by seunallday: 2:26pm On Apr 21, 2009
@posterboy, dont take all these opinions to heart, criminology is a decent course and a well specialised one, if u fancy being a policeman, go for it, u will be topnotch, asp minimum, but i advise u to do ur own research as well, talk to a couple of educated policemen that u know and query the relevance of that course in the industry, over the long run, u can start ur own security consulting outfit, take awesomepal's advice tho, look for a more competent school, cheers

TV/MoviesRe: Funke Akindele Is Africa's Best Actress: What Do You All Think? by seunallday: 5:56pm On Apr 16, 2009
im a film critic and i noted in my critic of the film, dat her acting was the only good thing about the movie, she deserved it in so many ways, reminds me of julia roberts in erin brokovich, but the annoying thing is, one good charater okay move on, but no!!!!!!!!11, our dear funke akindele has turned into a comedian, appearin in music and comedy shows, milkin the fat cow good, but i fear she may end up typecast in every role, since everybody knows her now as "jenifa" its not the best for a bright young actress

TV/MoviesRe: ***~~~Good Movies With Stupid/terrible Endings~~~*** by seunallday: 11:29am On Apr 07, 2009
@vanitty, saw v was a crazy movie with a "there will be a saw 6" ending

the happening, i thought this thread was for good movies with bad ebding, was there anything good with the happening.

who has seen street kings with keanu reeves and forrest whittaker, the ending was terrible, the whole movie wasnt all dat tho.

@waterworks, ironman was a tight summer movie, with crazy actin, and a cliffhangin ending

@vescucci,, the usual suspects had the craziest ending in the history of film, anyone that hasnt seen that movie hasnt started watching movies

most of the movies u think have bad endings are actually movies setup for sequels,
Forum GamesRe: So U Tink You Can Rhyme Huh! Let's Get It On! by seunallday: 5:33pm On Mar 10, 2009
poetry, dat part of me, not divorced but separated by the troubles of life
so there's a pretty good chance of getting back, its a double surprise
rythym and poetry and i aint letting go without a major fight
but momma told me, never quit your day job, aight
so i resist the thought, walk up to my boss, shove a stapler in his face
ur office cubicle cant hold me i wrote  a rhyme today
then a book, then two, look! its the next kongi, they say dream on
denim pants hang low, mellow rap music ooze out my earphones
its the menace to their society, cos their kids recite it, they hate it
mi not the booty shaking, african queens degrading, dark shades, fake bling
its an age thing, they ponder, d fad called rap lasted decades, d joke is on ya
they say u cant be a poet the language aint condensed enough, its fake
i said the world is full of drama, who needs all dat big grammar, plus my people relate
CareerRe: Best Place To Start A Career? by seunallday: 3:05pm On Mar 10, 2009
this is by far thee most helpful threads on nairaland.

i tink starting from pwc , kpmg and accenture is relative to whhat you wanna do with ur life, if u take ur engineerin cert to pwc, u will come out a chartered accountant, and av noticed a whole lot dont have a clue what they want, all we want is to get work in a good bank, collect 250k per annum, thats why pple keeep askin the most annoyin question in the world "how much do they pay".

true, if u r lloking for a career in financial services, experiences in these firms will do u great, but how many will they take, my file is still in kpmg gathering up mad dust. im not hating on them kpmg, pwc peeps, but im currently serving in a small stockbroking firm and im getting mad valuable experience, not just in the sector but on how to run a business, but i think the best place to start is to where you find yourself, make the most of all your opportunities, if i get my kpmg connect today, im nmost likely getting tax, which may not get me as far in my career as fin advisory would go, but kpmg is not the only place to gt that experienc, ther still a lot a guys workin in these firms that dont know shit or at least as much as my friend in Kajola investment would know because of the responsibilties she has handled.

then read, robbie lex is so right.
