Why do you people spread fake news and fears everywhere ? Learn which language to become citizen? Portugal the IT capital of Europe ? The eyes of the Mediterranean? Na wah for Una o.
This is why people keep calling me and asking about all this jargons you people write!

The easiest place to get a job in Europe with no single understanding of the language is Portugal , though you strong need the residence permit to get a job there and there is no way you can go around “hand payment “ it’s tough !

During summer alone , you can be doing 6 jobs in Lisbon , it’s the busiest time of the year as they see almost a 100% in population of tourists troop in.

The reason most people don’t know too much about Portugal is because it’s tough to cut corners there and most people avoid it , it laws is stringent and bureaucratic!

Great and lovely place and Entering Spain is hassle free, ….

How many Nigerians do you think is in Portugal ? Last year alone they gave the highest number of Visa to Nigerians , 760 approved Visas! They don’t want you!

Uk alone this year has give over 100k visas to Nigeria because it’s easier not necessarily better , choose where you want and work at it .

This is a lie though. The easiest country in europe to get a job still remains germany. Germany has issued more blue card visas alone than all EU countries combined

My resident permit (Aufenthaltstitel) expires in 30 days same time as my passport. Is it possible to still use this Aufenthaltstitel (with 4 weeks validity) to travel to Nigeria to pick up my new passport and return to Germany in 1 week? I am eligible for an extension but need a valid passport for this.

Your reply will be helpful, Thanks

Go to Frankfurt or Greece. I learnt you can get your passport same day. But it cost some money. About 200€+
You also have to book appointment before you go there. Else you'll pay again for impromptu services

Are you going to Nigeria just to start the whole process? Or you already did the process and only going for pickup?

If its to start a new process and you ain't going for any other special thing in Nigeria.

I'll advise you go to Switzerland and renew.

Never knew they process in Switzerland. I had always known about Frankfurt or Greece or Austria.

Hello, Good Peope,
Thank you for your contribution to this thread so far.
As anyone recently applied for the blue card with a job offer in tech(Fullstack software engineer)? but without a University degree in Physical science?
The salary is about 70k PA. I have my first degree in Microbiology, but I'm not sure if this qualifies for a blue card application and approval.
I would really appreciate any feedback or information. Thank you
It doesn't matter.
For as long as you have a university degree that is equivalent to a german degree (check anabin database) and your salary is above 4700 euros per month, then you're good to go.

Please i'd love to ask how long it takes of the blue card visa to be processed after interview i did my interview 4 weeks ago, i am yet to get a response from the embassy
For me it took around 11 days after the interview before a mail was sent to me to submit travel date and travel insurance. After submitting travel date, I got my passport with visa stamp sent back 7 days later, so total of like 18 days (less than 3 weeks)

That was Nov/Dec period, I don't know about now

Lately I heard that the one year awaiting time for appointment when applying for family reunion in Germany has been reduced. Please, is this true? If it is true, who knows the exact awaiting period for appointment? Please, whoever has an answer to this question should help me out.
Thanks in anticipation.
Check the german embassy appointment booking page now. They'll put the waiting time there

Cambridge is a 1-hour train ride from London. Data shows Cambridge as affordable, but not cheap. It's a real city, and has a substantial black population.

Data shows Munich as slightly more expensive, but not that different. I don't know about surrounding areas.

I think it's going to take some pretty strong advantages to pass on Cambridge (job role, salary, benefits, etc). You can access and do just about anything in Cambridge. The UK has their own racial issues, but Germany is worse. And frankly Germany is an ugly country with a boring culture.

I'm betting that you've never been to or even done the tiniest research about germany. Germany is a ugly country? Have you been to berlin, Frankfurt, munich, Hamburg?

Asides London, no where in uk is as fine in general as the "ugliest" places in germany.

I don't know if you're referring to germany as of Adolf Hitler age, but the current germany has zero tolerance for racism. Not denying that there's is still racism, but it's more subtle and you're less likely to notice except you have too much time to pay attention. Their "mind my business" game is roof top level too, so most don't really care about your existence that much to be hurling racial slurs at you.

Their government have implemented immigration programmes over the years to bring in more skilled immigrants into the country bringing. So they've adjusted their approach to be more welcoming to immigrants.

What else do you think drove their economy to the 4th in the world? Even UK, a combination of 4 countries is still behind them in that regard

They're also very polite people but not Friendly. It's just normally difficult to make friends with immigrants as a local and you can't blame them. They also have a culture of being direct in communicating, so it seems they're mean but it's just their language.

Thanks for this. I also spoke with a dude in France and he says transversing EU is simpler when in Germany. I believe living in Germany will afford me opportunities in all Europe.

Definitely.
With EU visa you can enter more than 25 countries in the shengen area freely. Unlike UK visa. Germany is also central, so easy transport routes to other countries

If you're looking for where you'll get your permanent residence and citizenship faster choose germany.

With a blue card (work visa) you'll get your PR in 21 months (2yrs approx) if you can speak german to B1 level
33 months (3yrs approx) if you can speak Atleast A1 (basic level)

With recent coalition government pronouncement, you can now get citizenship in 3 yrs if you can speak german sufficiently (B2 and above) and completed an integration course.

For UK, you'll have to spend 5 years on a work visa (tier 2) before you can get your ILR (Permanent Residence).. Till you can apply for citizenship 12 months after. That's like 6yrs total. And there's no fast track or alternatives.

If you spend that period in germany, you'll get your citizenship in less or 5yrs.

So for easy path to STATUS choose germany. Just language barrier may be an issue. But more than half of Germans speak English so no need to worry.

But for easy settlement, and integration, choose UK. Since there's no language barrier, integration would be easy. Just that status (PR and Citizenship) could take longer.

Also germany is cheaper to live in than the UK. Although taxes in UK is lower than taxes in Germany.

Step by Step on how I obtained my family reunion visa.

1. Got married in the church 07.10.2017 ( so my church marriage certificate was what i used to process my visa)
2. November 2017, I enrolled in german language school in lagos .
3. December 2017 ( I took the A1 exams in Goethe institute Lagos).

4. After the result came out, I started looking for appointment. I noticed that they are ususally no available appointments during the day. So i tried at midnight and i got one for 3.01.2018
Before going for your appointment, make sure you have all the required documents and 2 to 3 photocopies of each document. Appear at least 30-40 minutes before your appointment.

The visa officer might ask some questions in German. In my own case, I was asked my name,my address and the name of my husband. Don't freak out, they are jsut basic questions.

5. A week after my appointment, my lawyer contacted me and started the investigation. He went to my family house, he visited the place i was staying in Lagos, my primary school, secondary school, university, the church where i wedded and the hospital where i was born.

6. Feb. 2018. I got an email, that I should submit my passport to the embassy, but the passport should bear the last name of my husband.
7. This process took about 3 weeks.
8. 03.03.2018, I left Nigeria for Germany.

LIFE IN GERMANY.
1. After I moved to Germany, I added myself on a waiting list for a language course.
2. June 2018 I started my german course and by dec.2018, I wrote the B1 exams. (by oct 2018, I got a 450 euro job which lasted 3 months)
3. Jan.2019 I started my B2 and by sept. 2019, I wrote C1 exams and passed it.
4. With my C1 result and the my translated university certificate, I got a job in jan. 2020 in the finance sector.

5. March 2021, I applied for German citizenship and by July 2021, I got my german citizenship. Three years after i migrated to germany.

My story might be uncommon, but here is how i achieved it. I researched extensively , as i didnt have any guide. I put the horse before the cart. Learn German as much as possible. The possibility of getting a good job is higher, when you have the german C1 certificate, you can get high paying jobs and your chances of getting german citizenship will higher.

Feel free to ask me any question

Interesting and inspiring.
So you didn't get permanent residency before citizenship? I thought it was a requirement

Compliments of the season you'll.
I would love to know the closest hotel/lodging to the Embassy. I heard about the Army cantonment, who's been there recently?
How is it!
Try Riviera suites. And yes it's around army cantomment. Like 15 minutes walk to Walter Carrington. Very lovely hotel but quite pricey.

It would be sent to you via courier with the self address envelope you submitted with your application. You won’t be allowed entry when you go to the embassy without any invitation.
Start expecting your documents after seven working days from the day they received your passport and insurance.
Is it after 7 days or within 7 days? Because the mail I got (request for travel date & travel insurance) mentioned that the travel date should be at least 7 days from the date of posting. So I presume the passport should come back within 7 days at worst. It's been 3 working days since I submitted my travel insurance and I'm still expecting shipment.

Please sir, how does one get the preapproval, from what authorities, im telling my husband about this and he doesn't know how to go about getting this,? I will appreciate a response please

Yes, she will still need to go through verification. I got pre-approval for my family too but my wife had to go through verification. One of the advantages the pre-approval offers your wife is that she will be able to get an appointment quicker instead of waiting a whole year to get an appointment. All the best in your interview.
Please, How did you go about the pre-approval ? Can you share?

Is it possible for a blue card holder to apply for family reunion on behalf of their spouse in germany.?

I.e I'm in germany, I have a blue card and I want to bring my wife over. Can I apply on her behalf in germany? Or is there a way to speed up the process in germany by myself without the need for a 1 year wait ( if she has to book appointment all the way from Nigeria)?

Blue Card Germany
The EU Blue Card is the main residence permit for university graduates from abroad. It is a simple and unbureaucratic procedure geared to third-country nationals keen to put their talents to use in Germany. ... After 33 months of residence, Blue Card holders are eligible for a settlement permit.
Also 22 months if you know german language to B1 level

yes the working documents has to come from your german employer

no bank statement.

"NPC birth certificate or Declaration of Age deposed to by head of Family (please note that an
NPC birth certificate may only be accepted if the applicant is born after December 13th, 1992)"
What it means is that, if your age comes before 1992, then NPC certificate may not be accepted.

You will have to get an age declaration deposed by the head of family. If you go to high court, those people should have the template. I have not done it before.

GeneralDae:

The Blue Card Visa (18b para 2) for a non EU citizen ( especially those relocating directly for the job) is given only after the Agentur für Arbeit ( German Government Work Agency) approves it. In the past they checked to see if locals or at least Europeans can do the job first ( although that law is getting more and more relaxed). They also verify the salary of the job to see if it is worth the blue card as well as your certificates ( if they are commensurate to the German standard) and or experience as an academic qualified professional.

Okay thanks for the info.

I was more interested in how long it takes to get an appointment date after booking. Verification seem like what is done after you must have gotten a date and submitted your application.
