Programming / Re: Pls How Do I Send Fingerprint Image Directly To Database Without File Upload? by seunoni34(m): 3:52am On Mar 01, 2017
Storing blob data in a database is a pretty bad idea. It just doesn't sound cool in terms of performance. Just store the image in a file system then store the link in a the database as text.
The fact that this is desktop app though.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Want To Quit My Job by seunoni34(m): 3:38am On Mar 01, 2017

I am a graduate with second class upper in Agricultural economics and extension, working somewhere in Lagos. I work within the hour of 7:00am-10:30pm daily except on Sunday. I was giving 35k as my salary. Is that fair enough? Coz i count it as wickedness. Now I made up my mind to quit.
how sad, if you know you have enough savings to fall back on then you can consider quitting. How about learning a skill that you can make money with? That should be the next thing on your mind for now. Wish you best of luck!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2.2 And Lower Class Graduates.. How Much Of Job Offers Do They Hit? by seunoni34(m): 3:31am On Mar 01, 2017
It's skill that matters in naija not grade. Except you're going for general jobs that everybody knows(or needs just a few days training to start work) like banking etc if you're going to work for IT coys, they pay you good money based on skill and experience not certificate atleast for now, and I bet they'll never do.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: closed! by seunoni34(m): 5:44pm On Feb 26, 2017
Try & get an apartment around Yaba/bariga /owironshoki axis cos they're close to island. And again, if you get a job you'll still need money to transport & feed yourself till you get your first salary. And tbh, if you don't have some little money you can't survive the cost of transport here, also there are jobs on the mainland, search the Internet very well. Mainland has more jobs than island. Just that, the pay on island is more (due to high cost of living) so it's almost the same thing. The choice is yours. I wish you the best in your endeavors, I pray all will be a story at the end. Good luck

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 10 Words Never To Include On Your Curriculum Vitae by seunoni34(m): 7:45am On Feb 17, 2017
macherie1:
If any of the words listed below appear on your curriculum vitae, consider expunging or rephrasing them. Your curriculum vitae says everything about you and determines your chances of meeting with an employer who doesn’t know you in person. Do your best to give it an appeal that can grab the attention of the recruiter long enough to give you a chance.

1.Unemployed

There is no reason whatsoever for this word should appear on your CV. The recruiter can infer your employment status from your employment history.

2.Hardworking or Hard worker

Unnecessary. Expunge it

3.’Ambicious’

Pay attention to your spelling. Misspelled words like this should never appear on your CV

4.Microsoft Office

Listing Microsoft Word proficiency as skill is like listing being able to read and write as a skill. Microsoft office is not a skill. Consider including other professional short courses that you have completed online or go online and take free courses in skills and software that are relevant to your profession.

5. Reference available upon request

The recruiter will ask for a reference without you telling them.

6. Can’t or Won’t

Avoid negative words. Rather emphasize what you can do or will do

7. Unnecessary personal Information

Personal information such as date of birth, family status, personal interest etc. should be avoided on a CV. These information do not determine your qualification for the job.

8. Hobbies

Including your hobbies is distracting and time wasting for the recruiter. Your hobbies do not pertain to your qualification for the job.

9. Result-Oriented

“While many other words are misused or diluted by overuse, these are the weakest and most abused,” says master executive resume writer Barrett-Poindexter.

10. I know SQL, HTML…

You don’t have to know all the skills required for a job to land it. You will be questioned based on the skills you claim to know and your level of proficiency in them. Avoid dishonesty.

I was told by my senior colleague that interviewed me that my age gave me an edge over others (although I've left the job now) . So put your age where necessary if you're below 27 and it's an IT field. They love young guys

When you're selling things on the Internet always put price. Even if it's not the exact price, just to give the interested person an idea of what to budget.

Assuming $string is the variable you want to split

$array = str_split($string); // this splits each character in $string to an array
/*

i.e if $string = 1234. The $array will look like

Array
(
[0] => 1
[1] => 2
[2] => 3
[3] => 4
)

*/

$sum = 0; // initialize variable that sums up all the numbers

// sum up the array of splitted numbers while looping

foreach($array as $num) :
$sum+=$num; // adds up all the numbers
endforeach;

echo $sum;

Fc naija.com & 366football.com are built on WordPress software.
But it looks like you've done a lot of customization, which is good.
It was not built on WordPress oga. All coded from scratch. I'm happy you find it hard to believe cheesy . Contact me of you want a custom built website/blog devoid of WordPress codes. Trust me you'll like it.

Just curious.

I’m not asking about websites created using open source software like WordPress, Joomla or free forum software. I’m referring to any website built on propriety software actually designed and written by any Nigerian from ground up?

www.naijamotherland.com was designed and written from the ground up by a Nigerian-American and I am very curious to know if there are any others out there.
I wrote Fc naija.com & 366football.com from ground up. Although Fc naija was a WordPress site, I recoded it, removed all the styling and the only thing retained was the database which I later changed the structure, even the admin was removed for a custom built one by me . 366football is a Livescores site that fetches feeds from an European feed provider all custom built too. I learnt how to code from scratch, including mvc & oop. Unfortunately most naija programmers are lazy, so they use either WordPress or one "quick tool". I know of few people who can code big stuffs from scratch. The rest are just "fast food" programmers. grin grin
