TV/Movies / Re: Is Anyone Into Indian Movies? by sexynes(f): 6:25am On Dec 01, 2007
I love indian movies. There is this movie I'm looking for in particular but I don't remember the name. It's about a man who is killed and his dog takes revenge on the men who killed him. Does anyone know this movie?

Travel / Re: No Nigerians Welcome In Tanzania by sexynes(f): 6:48pm On Feb 27, 2007
My people please, the goal here is unity not disunity. We know that we are the giant of Africa but that doesn't mean we should treat other countries with disdain. I know that the Tanzanians are wrong for their policies and decisions but it's time we took matters into our own hands. We cannot just sit down complaining that the government is not doing anything. Fine, we know the government is not doing anything but what are we doing about it. There are Nigerians outside doing things to build the US, the UK and other countries but doing nothing for their own country. It's because they've lost hope in Nigeria but we are the ones to rebuild Nigeria. I've given up on the generation of my parents because they are tired and they don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. I see a light and i know that there are other people out there that see this light too. The solution is to try and educate ourselves. Many of our people are illiterate when it comes to the policies that affect us. We need to know these things in order to make a change. There is no way we can make a difference if all we do is complain to one another. We need to be complaining to the people that we know can change things. The solution definitely does not involve treating the Tanzanians with the same disrespect. We are better than that and we cannot stoop to their level.

@ youngies

I completely agree with your comments. That is the only way to make sure that we can effect a change.
Don't forget what Gandhi said: "Be the change you want to see in the world."

I really agree with you Ka. I agree with the idea of self-interest but I don't like the idea of selfishness. Seun, I have heard really good things about The Fountainhead. Maybe you should get that.

Hey, where did you get your information on Peter Obi killing MASSOB members from? I would really like to read up on that.
Romance / Re: Why Does NYSC 'Kill' Relationships? by sexynes(f): 5:34am On Nov 12, 2006
TayoD:

While I may have heard some 'horror' stories about the NYSC and relationships, I do nothing but bless the memories of my service to my country as a Youth Corper as well as bless the town known as Isi-Alangwa in Abia State, where I met my sweet, oh so sweet wife.

Without that opportunity provided through NYSC, I doubt if I ever would have met, let alone marry her. I guess NYSC means different things to different people afterall.

Hey Tayo, my mum worked with NYSC Isi-alangwa for a while. When did you serve?

Meanwhile, I've been in the NYSC system since I can remember (my mum works for NYSC) and I've seen what happens during orientation. Sometimes people are really in love but other times a lot of people feel that those 3 weeks give them license to do whatever they want. It's disgusting. It's like people have no shame. It's amazing how much HIV and other STDs are spread during the service year especially those three nights. I say that all those corpers are all adults and they should start acting like responsible adults and be careful what they do and the decisions they make. At the same time, I wouldn't blame NYSC. Like I said before, they are all adults and they are should be able to take responsibility for their actions and not blame it on NYSC.

I'm tired of people playing with this country and Anambra state in particular. We all know what's really going on. Peter Obi was impeached because he wasn't siphoning money into Chris Uba's pockets. We all know as well that OBJ is in league with Chris Uba. I'm personally very sick of all this nonsense and I feel like if things don't get better in Nigeria as a whole, then the country would be heading towards a civil war.
Romance / Re: Moving In With My Boyfriend: Advisable Or Not? by sexynes(f): 7:22pm On Aug 28, 2006
I would definitely not advise it. Moving in is one step away from marriage and if you are not sure about it then why bother. If he's someone your serious about, then definitely don't move in with him. You know what they say, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?
Mamaput, I agree with you on some things but not all. I definitely don't think that moving in with a boyfriend is advisable whether or not they are having sex. There are social issues to consider as well as moral issues. Let's face it, if the guy is African, there are certainly somethings he has instilled in him that we cannot ignore. Most guys like the idea of having a live-in sex partner but when it's time for marriage, he won't know how to shapen his mouth to tell his family that the girl has been living with him for a while and let's face it, not all mothers think like you. I know for sure that my boyfriend's mother would start to wonder what kind of girl I was if I were to move in with her son. And what if our friend here gets pregnant and the guy is not for any kind of serious commitment, then what?
Well, gem87, I wish you luck with you boyfriend but please act with maturity and be practical about your decision; love doesn't always make sense and that's why it would be best for you to take a moment to weigh the pros and cons of the situation.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I hear all of you and I understand all your views. I figured that if the work is that much then it isn't worth it. Anyway, I've moved on there's someone else who is very ready and willing to donate his lips to my noble cause. LOL.
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians Negative About Nigeria? by sexynes(f): 3:24pm On Jun 01, 2006
Hey Afeni,
You make me laugh and I'm going to leave it at that. Oh yeah, Please don't judge people you don't know because the fact still remains that even those that go clubbing everyday may not be as shallow minded as you would think them to be. But, each man to his opinion.
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians Negative About Nigeria? by sexynes(f): 3:49pm On May 29, 2006
@Afeni,
it's kinda hard not to see your comments are harsh. Please don't call me ignorant because I do not get into an argument without knowing what I'm getting into. I have not fled Nigeria and I try to go back as much as possible (not once in 5 years or anything like that). I'm there a lot and I know what the atmosphere is like. It's people like you that make it hard for people to believe that anything good comes out from Nigeria. I am from Nigeria and I know I am good and if someone like me is Nigerian, then there's no doubt that there is some hope for Nigeria. I do know how Nigeria came to be about. I am not stupid and I like to read. I do not appreciate you calling the Nigerians here shallow and stupid because the truth of the matter is you do not know them and cannot make such statements. I do not know all of them as well and I won't go about saying that they are shallow. The truth of the matter is that there's nothing wrong with loving your country. Your anger towards Nigeria may be justified but nothing justifies complete hatred. I'm definitely going to read your thread but please realize that listening to people without judgments about them is the best way to learn. (I can tell you are very likely a political science major, correct me if I'm wrong). Oh yeah, most of the Nigerians I know here are planning to go back to Nigeria, if they actually do is left to be seen. But know that whatever you tell me, I still have a great love for Nigeria and I'm not the only one out there and as long as there are people out there that still have that love and still believe in Nigeria, then the country is definitely not going to sink into oblivion or something like that.

@exu, you do not see air and you do not hear the air unless a force causes it to move but yet you believe it's there because you breathe it everyday. It is the same with people that have the conviction that there is a God. I live God everyday and I feel his force in my everyday life, so please tell me, why won't I believe that there is a God?
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians Negative About Nigeria? by sexynes(f): 8:58am On May 29, 2006
@gidig,
I love your reply and your patriotism. I think it is the right mentality to have. We all have to realize that bitching and moaning is not going to solve anything. We need to make a difference starting within ourselves. Nigeria is still a great country and I believe that there are people out there (especially with our generation) that are willing to make changes. I know I have a plan and unless it is God's will, it'll definitely come to pass.
As for lack of patriotism, I believe that as much as people have negative feelings, there is still a love for Nigeria that cannot die and it is as a result of that love that people are so angry at the state it's in. I was at the 2Face concert in Maryland and the Nigerian anthem came up. Every single person got up and everyone was singing and shouting it so happily. At that point, I felt great hope for Nigeria and I realized that if that unity is transferred to our relations with other Nigerians here as well as in our homeland, we would be able to move forward. The one major thing Nigerians lack is unity.
Religion / Re: Skeptics And Atheists In Nigeria: How Do You Manage? by sexynes(f): 9:12pm On May 27, 2006
@Reverend
I seriously doubt that. Do you believe that there are things that were mysteries back then that are still mysteries now. The truth is that, like you said, the human mind is still very limited in it's understanding and I believe that people create the idea of a Godless world because they are unable to understand a world with God. The truth lies in what we do not understand

Thanks people, I see what y'all are saying and you guys reflected a lot of the thoughts that had been going through my mind. Meanwhile @dude, you are very funny. Why would you think that I would want to kiss you when I already said that I want to kiss someone else. Is that how I'll just be going about kissing people. LOL

Although I'm partially in support of capitalism (mostly because all the other forms of government are mostly unrealistic), I still the world should imbibe a little more communism without completely getting rid of capitalism (I have not thought the workings of this idea through completely, so please hold off on comments pertaining to that statement).

I was apparently rated a Centrist and I think that it defines me completely as I fall on none of the extremes. Too much of anything is bad, that is my philosophy.
Politics / Re: Why Are People Focusing On Nigerian Criminals? by sexynes(f): 8:26am On May 26, 2006
@ jakomo, it seems to me like you are attacking Ibo people; are you? As an Ibo girl, I know that there are many Ibos out there that are involved in 419 but please do not make it seem like we are the only ones. I mean, one of Nigeria's very own governors was accused of the same thing and please note that he was not Ibo.
Meanwhile, I agree with many of the points of views expressed in this post but the fact still remains that 419 is supported by our very own people, directly and indirectly. And please, let's not forget that there are other forms of corruption still eating at the fabric of our society and the best way to impact our people is by standing up and speaking against such corruption instead of only venting on nairaland. There are people out there trying to make a difference and I give them major kudos (My personal favorite - Dora Akunyili). I have great hope for our generation because inasmuch as there are the bad ones, we also have a lot of the good ones who have direction and will pull up our people at some point. So people, there's still and there'll always be hope.
Romance / Re: I Am Scared Of Girls by sexynes(f): 8:07am On May 26, 2006
tochi please tell them oh. All these guys that are talking, y'all are acting like you don't have mothers. Go and tell your mother that all she is good for is sex and romance and see what she tells you. Nonsense. Guys talk rubbish and then they have the audacity to say crap about girls. Y'all don't know half of what a real woman can offer and I suggest that y'all step out of your boxes and go find out!
Religion / Re: Skeptics And Atheists In Nigeria: How Do You Manage? by sexynes(f): 8:07am On May 25, 2006
For one thing, I used to be an atheist but the fact still remains that there things out there that cannot be explained through science and logic alone. Most people who claim to be atheistic think there is no God because they believe they know too much. I am also speaking of myself here. The thing is that no matter how much you want to deny the existence of God, there will always be something at the back of your mind making you wonder if you are not wrong.

I know what Objectivism is but now I'm certain that you have to read Atlas Shrugged. Her ideas of perfection are sometimes really subtle and are sometimes very prominent. The idea of rational self-interest is very attractive but people fail to see that rationalism is marred by human emotion.
Literature / Re: Ayn Rand Books In Nigeria? by sexynes(f): 7:50am On May 25, 2006
Well, her characters are only a medium for her to express her ideas. So by criticizing one, I'm criticizing the other. Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged? You should read it. You'll understand what I'm saying a little bit more. There is a whole "cult" of people that follow her books ardently - I'll look for their website and post it so that you'll see what I'm talking about.
Literature / Re: Ayn Rand Books In Nigeria? by sexynes(f): 7:30am On May 25, 2006
Hey Seun, for one thing, Ayn Rand has a certain model that most of her primary male characters follow. They have to be these ubermensch type people. By ubermensch, I mean super human. They almost have no "flaws" (that is if you believe that Ayn Rand's view is the perfect one). No one is that way and anyone who is that way may be ahead but that person is lacking in some part of their life.
Literature / Re: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - Book 6 by sexynes(f): 7:21am On May 25, 2006
First of all, I absolutely love Harry Potter. My whole family is obssessed.
@hotangel - You sound just like Draco Malfoy and the other Slytherins. LOL.
Meanwhile, I heard that a major character is going to die in book 7. I can't wait to find out who. I am already depressed just thinking about it and I also cried in book 6. I was so sad the whole day.

You don't understand how much I love Enid Blyton. I'm a really huge fan and I want to collect as many of her books as possible so that my kids would have the same experience I had growing up believing in fairies and the like. I really loved the Enchanted Woods and I used to imagine that I was there enjoying with them. LOL

Wow,  People who actually know about Ayn Rand. I have to say that she was a phenomenal writer. The problem is that her philosophical ideas are not completely realistic and it seems that from her description of women in very subservient roles amongst other things, she didn't want to be a woman
Romance / Re: Any Man Can Sweep Any Woman Off Her Feet by sexynes(f): 6:58am On May 25, 2006
When you make statements like that, you are making certain assumptions. The truth is that no matter how fly the guy is, he just can't sweep a woman off her feet. And let's face facts, not every man has the right broom and not every woman is interested in having someone sweep her with a broom. LOL

How Do You Get A Man To Kiss You Without Looking Slutty Or Desperate?

Ok People, I know the world is moving "ahead"(please note the quotation marks) but I am still very traditional minded and I feel the guy should always make the first move and has to do at least most of the chasing. There's one problem though, there's this guy I like but not enough to date him. However, the boy has the nicest lips I've seen so far and I would really like the guy to kiss me but I don't know quite how to make him initiate the kiss. Any tips?
