Anyone knows if the new process of the Contactless Biometric Capture (CBC) App in the UK for Nigerian Passport renewal has commenced? It was meant to start in November 2024 but it seem people still go through physical capture in Nigerian High Commission.

The app is available on the Play Store; however, it is currently as limited as using a web browser since biometric capture cannot be completed on it. The earliest available date for in-person biometric capture is in late May. Does anyone know if walk-ins are allowed and how to proceed with them?

To be able to renew your passport due to a middle name appearing on your NIN then both the passport and NIN names must be same, that is like for like, 3 names for 3 names. …have 2 options
1. Modify the names on your NIN to remove the middle name . You go to the NIN office and enquire about modification of data to remove the middle name officially…
2. Add the middle name to your passport to go forward but you will need to still do correction/change of data and provide a court affidavit + newspaper publication to be able to add this middle name
Your family members in Nigeria can help u with the court affidavit and newspaper p as they are not hard to get or look into getting a deed poll.
But there’s no other way as the names must match- NON and passsport

Sorry about this. I recently helped someone with their NIN registration and Nigerian passport application so I know first hand how incredibly frustrating the process can be.

I'm not sure where you got your NIN from (UK or Nigeria) but have you tried contacting an NIN agent here to ask for advice on how to resolve this issue? I'm sure they've come across this situation before with all the people they see.

Hi Guys, Please I need your advice or information on how to proceed regarding passport renewal.

I am being requested to provide sworn affidavit by a court and newspaper publication for change of name. I did not change my name and my NIN was already linked to my current passport.

However, my nin has my middle name but my passport does not. Is there a way to resolve this. I have sent emails and called NIS but no response. I am stuck in the application process and cannot proceed both on the app and web. I will sincerely appreciate every support I can get. Thank you.

That location thing ehnnn.. this research of a thing is deep because one has to consider proximity to London cos of work, Kids' school, community. etc.

Also, the rates i'm seeing.. hopefully being married to a Brit brings the rates down a bit for me.. we earn way over £100k but the problem is that LISA rates cap at 450k for any house you intend to use the LISA funds for..

How many houses with minimum 3bedrooms can be gotten around that? We can't go too far from London because of work ..

This is a real issue. Lisa is not for everyone. Imagine having to lose 10k because you have a good deal above 450k.

This condition no pure atall. I live in house no 7, house no 6 is put out for sales. I got an offer after removing £8k from initial asking price, only for the lenders who had previously given us decision in principle said they can lend us money because we never reach two years for uk. The thing pain me oh.

Most Mortgage advisor I have spoken to said this same thing. If we want 10% deposit, we either have £100k combined family income or wait till we are 2 years old in the UK. Alternatively bring the 25%.

We went for viewing today. We like the house and the area. Waiting for the outcome of the discussion between Advisor and lender.

An appeal court in London, the United Kingdom, has sentenced a Nigerian man to three years in jail for physically abusing(beating with cane) his nine-year-old son.

The offender, 66, initially got away with 22 months imprisonment at the end of his trial at the Crown Court in Woolwich, South-east London, which the government disagreed with.

Following the government’s appeal against the trial court’s sentence, the Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales in London raised the punishment to three years jail term.

“The sentence of 22 months imprisonment will be quashed and replaced by a sentence of three years imprisonment,” the Court of Appeal ordered in its judgement delivered on 22 December 2022.
