Read science.
It didn’t say that the universe has an origin, it started that Big Bang started approximately 14billion years ago. No one knows the origin of the singularity and whatever happened before it.

You argument is flawed on this premise
Is singularity the Universe?

If the singularity had existed trillions of years before its expansion or inflation, what suddenly made this singularity unstable (about 13.6 billion years ago)?

We don’t know if the universe was created, same as your God.

If the universe has to be created, so is God
The universe has an origin: about 13.6 billion years old. Precisely 13.77 billion years +/-40 million years

Martian:
Are you using light as a metaphor here or is it some other kind of light only you and God are familiar with?
Of course as a metaphor. God isn't a form of material or matter

Martian:
What do you mean light feed the physical universe energy? Is it some kind of scientific theorem or just your opinion?
What do you mean God feeds all existence with energy? Is existence different from the universe? How?
Electromagnetic waves from the stars are the means through which all planets get their energies.

Existence means living beings: without physical light, every being will be dead
Martian:
How does God illuminate all existence? Is there a way to witness this illumination?
By giving everything their energy for sustenance and living
Martian:
What does darkness of existence mean and how would we
Meaningless void and lack of existence

Martian:
Life can and does exist without light and you have to sufficiently define and describe God before you can reasonably claim that He created life.
A planet revolving around a black hole outside the event horizon could produce life without light. Given the vastness of the universe life could exist that is unlike anything we know.
No sir! Plants the primary source of food need light (even if it is of low intensity). Without plants, no animal, insect, or microbes will exist.

Martian:
"All life requires energy. Humans and other animals get energy from what they eat. Plants don't eat; they make their own food. The same it true for the microbes that live around hydrothermal vents. Plants use energy from the sun to make sugars, through a process called photosynthesis. But, for hydrothermal vent communities at the bottom of the ocean, this is not an option. No sunlight reaches that depth. Instead microbes get their energy from different chemical in hydrothermal fluid, through a process called chemosynthesis.

Hydrothermal fluid that comes out of vents contains hydrogen sulfide. Microbes that live around the vents take up hydrogen sulfide, oxygen, and carbon dioxide from the water. Then, the microbes get their energy when the break down the hydrogen sulfide. They use this energy and oxygen to convert carbon dioxide into sugars. At the end of this process, the microbes release sulfur into the water."
But without lights, the microbes will not exist: and the deep sea plants without energy dies!

God is that SOURCE of Energy that makes everything exist.

Martian:
Okay, what kind of light is he?
He is certainly not Electromagnetic waves: God is the SOURCE of Energy that sustains everything seen and unseen, physical and nonphysical

Who makes the first move when a president is perceived to be invalid and not able to perform his duties. Is it the invalid president or the national assembly?

The answer you give will show if the NA has powers of oversight over the President or not.

You mean to sack the No.1 citizen of this country and also reverse the decision of a majority of Nigerians that voted for him? That's quite a serious matter.

Anyway, Section 143 of the 1999 constitution clearly outlines the process for impeachment of the President. Good luck!
of course, that is why there is check and balances in democracy. The president isn't all powerful. At any point if the the NA has reason to pass a vote of no confidence on the president subject to section 143 of the 1999 constitution, then an impeachment move will be instituted against him. However, where the leadership of the NA is installed by the presidency, nothing like that will take place

Section 67 (1) of the 1999 Constitution gives the president a discretion whether to attend the National Assembly or not.
It states thus:
"The President MAY attend any joint meeting of the National Assembly or any meeting of either House of the National Assembly, either to deliver an address on national affairs, including fiscal measures, or to make such statement on the policy of government as he considers to be of national importance."
The operative word in this provision is MAY. In law, MAY conveys discretion; unlike the word SHALL which conveys a mandatory or compulsory meaning.
This I think affect if the President deem it fit to INITIATE seeing the NA concerning any matter!
The issue at stake here is when the NA has to INITIATE the invitation of the President to address them concerning an issue of concern.

In Nigeria, under Section 88 and 89 of the constitution, the National Assembly has oversight function on matters having to do with the well-being and security of the country”.

“If the national assembly feels that the security of the country has become so parlous and the economy has become so poor that we have entered a second recession, then they can use their powers in Section 88 and 89 because the constitution says “any public officer”. It did not mention that the president is excluded”.
The quote above show that the NA have the powers to invite the President whenever the need is expedient

I think its more about knowing the truth than about religion. But if you must know I am gnostic Christian. I belive Jesus is the son of the true God (like we all are)who is different from the creator God. I couldn't have left Islam for contemporary christianity cos they are almost the same thing. Their God's are angry, require blood sacrifice, and jealous - hence their numerous wars (you can find records of this in the book of the wars of Yahweh)
Back to topic...
Can anyone really know the truth about God unless such hears of it directly or indirectly from God Himself?

Islam doesn't know anything about blood sacrifice. The closest they have to sacrifice is when they celebrate Eid al-Adha where a Ram is sacrificed in acknowledgement of the obedience of Ibrahim in exchange for sacrificing his son. But they don't know why God requires a blood sacrifice at all. Its just an imitation of what was historically done.

You protest that God cannot be jealous forgetting that we were created in his image.
You protest that God cannot be angry forgetting that we were created in his image.

Jealousy or Anger could be positive or negative depending on how it is used.
LEt me ask you two basic questions:
1. You saw your Fiancee who you loved with a passion deeply kissing a former boyfriend: will you feel jealous?
(don't forget she is a freewill to do as she wills, your love gives her freedom of expression)
2. Some teenage neighborhood boys beat up your beloved little sister mercilessly with wounds all over her body: will you be angry?

Jesus was angry with those who were buying and selling in the temple at Jerusalem: was that an evil emotion?

Sin is transgression of the law 1Jn 3 vs 4

Now since jehova delights in sacrificial blood spillage as a means of redemption, he doesn't seem so different from the gods of the other religions or our forefathers.

Your argument is like:
Since fake money (dollar, pound, naira) exists, then the original is also a fake!

Since you claim to be a gnostic christian, how about

So jehova(who isn't a thing because he is not matter) became matter (jesus) and died to rescue his creations from sin? So is sin greater than the creator, that he had to sacrifice himself?
Pls I am only asking for knowledge purposes not to fight...
A reply to this got me a ban from nairalands spambots.

The issue with this is that your demiurge has always been requiring blood sacrifices for the remission of sins.
Now the question is this, why would an all powerful God require blood sacrifices of remission of sins? Did he create sin? Or is sin so above him that he had to take on a state of matter to sacrifice himself?
Also when u say man was made of the "image" of God an invisible being cannot have an image or its image would be invisible, therefore anything that has an image was also made out of the image of something.
If Jehovah is made of matter, then it is logical that he must be subject to the laws of physics and chemistry. But, He is not made up of matter and this has constituted a problem for you.

You seem not to comprehend what sin is!
You seem to me to be a muslim or former muslim. Is this correct?
Sin is the ultimate form of expression of disregard for the Authority of the Creator and His laws.

The only penalty for SIN is DEATH (Disconnection/Separation from the Source of Life) through execution and ALL sinners irrespective of who they are or the "magnitude" of their sin must pay the ULTIMATE price.

The full shedding of blood is a physical evidence that judgement has been served. Before the coming of Christ, God asked the Isrealites to sacrifice a goat (sin offering) as a temporal emblem that punishment for sin has been served (scapegoat). Since every human being is born with the Sin Nature (instinctive nature to commit sin), no human being can pay for the sin of another human being. The only sacrifice worthy is one who is truly perfect: God himself is the only perfect being.

Hello nairalanders,

I'm beginning to think that church is scam, may God have mercy on me if what I'm thinking is wrong but, I just got back from a Thanksgiving Sunday, everything is so discouraging, how can they ask for money, money, money and don't give back to society.

For example if you meet them for financial assistance they will say hope on the Lord and they will pray for you, but when they need, they will collect from members, I don't understand.

When I was a teenager (though it was white garment church) you will see as they will cook for everyone and even share items, buying and selling of items, it was fun and everyone was happy, but these days Pentecostal it's all about " bring your tithe, bring your vow, bring your seed, bring your salary, bring your gold, " please I need some encouragement to continue coz it's becoming annoying, I thought giving should come from the heart, this one now is forceful giving, please house what is the way forward.

No insults, matured response please
It had always been like that even from the time of Jesus. Trust opportunists to insert themselves between the People and offerings that is supposed to go to God. Notwithstanding, Jesus didn't condemn giving or going to worship with the congregation however these impostures will be judged when their cup is full.
Matthew 21:12-13
12Then Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. 13 And He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’ But you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’ ”

Christianity EtcRe: Why Christians Should Stop Publicizing The Errors Of God's Servants by shadeyinka2: 11:21am On Oct 25, 2020
TundeKorede:
TELL IT NOT IN GATH, PUBLISH IT NOT in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice; lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
2 Samuel 1:20 (Emphasis’ mine)

Sequel to an ignominious death of Saul, in the hands of the uncircumcised Philistines, David maintained in his lament that a torrent of abuse should not be published about his embarrassing death.

Worthy of mention is the fact that, Saul made himself an obtrusive enemy to David whilst he was alive.

Yet David would not permit the Israelites to share the news of his shameful death in such a way that the uncircumcised Philistines would hear it and rejoice.

Needless to say, we can liken the Philistines to unbelievers, while the Israelites represent the believers of the present world.

Nowadays, believers publicly spread the news of the errors of God’s servants (even fathers of faith are not spared) with no pang of remorse.

In fact, it seems we now take delight in looking for news that are demeaning to the Body of Christ in order to share them on our social media accounts. In addition, we pounce on negative news like Piranhas.

Sadly, there are pastors who publicly ridicule and speak disparagingly about their fellow ministers who are in error, forgetting that all humans are fallible.

Hence, we expose the Body of Christ to a whole series of attacks, ridicule, and vituperation from unbelievers through our unwise disposition towards Men of God.

However, much as I denounce the idea of spreading the news of the downfall/errors of ministers of God, I wouldn’t take sides with them on the atrocities they have committed. Bishop Oyedepo once stated that, ‘‘Sin is sin no matter who is sinning.’‘ I support this truth.

Nonetheless, it is tomfoolery to assume that God’s servants are infallible. The reason why many of us are taken by surprise is that we expect too much from them.

Listen, no man is infallible! Samson fell, Saul fell, Judas fell, even Peter would have fallen beyond restoration if not for the grace of God. May God keep us from falling till the end.

Love does not take delight in sharing evil but rejoices at the truth (1 Cor 13:6). Love protects! So, protect the ministries of other believers. Do not expose them to danger and assaults.

Therefore, walk in love. If we walk in love, the restoration of those who seemed to have fallen will be of concern to us, rather than their total fall or destruction.

Let’s follow this priceless injunction of the Scriptures in Galatians 6:1, which says;

”Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such as one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

Speak to them and if you cannot speak to them, pray for them. Let the restoration of every fallen minister be paramount to you and not their destruction.

May the Lord keep us till the end.

Please, use the comment section to express your thought below.

Thank you for reading!

Stop lying in the name of God!

Jesus Christ was clear on what the unforgivable sin is and was... There is even an example of it happening in the book of Acts where Ananias and Saphira bit the dust because they lied against the Spirit of God. Herod was turned to worms, as a result of his gloating and taking glory for that which God, and not Him, made happen. Why not read the book and learn from it rather than pretend it is ok for any tom-dick-and-harry to inject their lies and delusions into what is written, ignoring facts.

Those who do not believe in God have already received a punishment befitting them since even the time of Adam. Why would God turn around to punish them for the exact same crime again? That is not what does. Unbelievers are those who are condemned to perish in the grave.

As for those of you who pretend yourselves a better lot in Christ, be careful, for Hell is the end for those who do not heed the words that Jesus Christ preached and taught. The believers who refuse to obey the commandments of the New Covenant that is Jesus Christ, the grace of God through Christ, you are essentially marking yourself for Hell.. yes, it is for some of those who believe(have eternal life) that Hell is prepared for.
You needn't be so hard. He isn't lying. He said his understanding about the matter.

It is best to state your own point and leave
Christianity EtcRe: What Is The Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit, The Unforgivable Sin? by shadeyinka2:
live4dgospel:
Matthew 12:31-32

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come."

What really constitutes this unforgivable sin? This is a fearful sin nobody would want to commit, right? Because Jesus Himself said that such sin cannot be forgiven either in this world or in the world to come. Today, I would like to shed light on this unforgivable sin and the responsibility of every human being born on this earth. What is the unforgivable sin? If someone says to someone who is speaking in strange tongues, "Shut up!". Does it mean he has committed the unforgivable sin? If someone criticizes prophets and pastors, has he committed the unforgivable sin? Because of this many Christians are afraid of speaking up against all these false miracles, signs, prophecies being propagated by these ministers. I know they think this way because of the scenario that led Jesus to talk about the unforgivable sin. In verse 24 it is written "Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
This is exactly what gave people the misconceptions of the unforgivable sin. What led the Pharisees to utter those words? It because they didn't believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and their long awaited Messiah. In order words, they didn't believe in the Word of God. It is from the heart the mouth speaks, and God looks at the heart and not just spoken words (1 Samuel 16:7).
In verse 25 it written "But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand." That Jesus knew their "thoughts", means Jesus knew their unbelieving hearts, He considered their thoughts not just their spoken words.

Dear fellow Christians, the unforgivable sin is the sin of unbelief. Whosoever commits this one sin cannot be forgiven. Some sins like fornication, murder, theft etc committed out one's weakness can be forgiven. But this sin of unbelief in the gospel of salvation is an unforgivable sin, which one decidedly commits all the days of his life. I mean someone who does not believe in the gospel of Jesus today might believe tomorrow, so the sin of refusing to believe in the gospel of salvation of Jesus Christ till the very end is the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
Let's ponder on this for a moment, how can someone be forgiven when he refuses to believe in the way of salvation? If he commits adultery and has received the way of salvation, his sin is forgiven, if he commits murder and has received the gospel of salvation, his murder is forgiven. How then will he be forgiven when he has rejected the very gospel of salvation? Imagine a man drowning in the ocean, a boat man comes around him, straights forward his hand and says "Give me your hand, let me take you in to my boat", to rescue the drowning man inside his boat. If the drowning man consistently refuses to accept the help, if he insists, "Don't worry, I can swim myself out of this ocean", will he be saved? Absolutely not. Therefore, the very sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the sin of unbelief.
Let me explain this in greater details, Nicodemus came to Jesus by night for the fear of the Pharisees. He believed in Jesus but he wanted to learn more from Him, therefore he came to Him by night so that other Pharisees might not speak ill of him. He came to know the way of salvation which other Pharisees rejected. What did Jesus say to him?
He said “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." (John 3:5).
This very gospel of the water and the Spirit is the only way to enter the kingdom of God, so rejecting this gospel till the end is the unforgivable sin. God the Father planned our salvation, God the Son fulfilled it by coming to this world wearing human flesh, have our sins transferred to his head during baptism, and paid the price for sins with His own blood on the cross and rose again the third day, having obtained eternal redemption for those who believe. What is then the work of God the Holy Spirit? It is to bear witness of this gospel. 1 John 5:6
"This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth."
Therefore anyone who refuses to believe in the witness of the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ came by the water of His baptism and the blood of His crucifixion cannot be forgiven either in this world or in the world to come.
I think you have over simplified the unforgiving sin as UNBELIEF but no.

It simply means knowing the Holy Spirit BUT daring Him to do His worst. It means REJECTING the HOLY SPIRIT after knowing Him. It is more than committing sins. Just like with your heart and mouth you accept Jesus, one can with his
heart and mouth also reject Jesus and His Holy Spirit.

Heb 6:4-6:
"For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened , and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost , And have tasted the good word of God , and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

1Jn 5:16:
"If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to death: I do not say that he shall pray for it."

We were ALL once in the din of UNBELIEF but became saved by grace
