nas4q: spain qualified by virtue of winning the last world cup in south africa. the european champions are now italy as they played in the euro 2012 final. You are right. This is what i found on FIFA website With Spain already guaranteed a place as world champions, Italy qualified automatically as the European representative after reaching the final of UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. |

whoever wrote this article got it slightly wrong. teams go through cycles but the fact that a team won a trophy does not mean it is in ascendancy. The key element here is FORM. This team found its form at the right time! I suspect if the team had met any other team apart from ivory coast in the quater final it wouldn't have won the cup. The win against CIV gave the team the needed self-belief and that energised the team into believing they could win the cup. If we are to follow your analysis, shall we say the Zambia team that won the last edition but could not make it past the group stage has suddenly found itself in decline? The Eagles still have a long way to go in order to be a finished product ![]() |
dinggle: Keshi has changed Nigeria's soccer formula for ever, this present Eagles can not win the next edition, now we know all we need are hungry unknown boys who want to sell themselves to top clubs, those who are still seeking their meal ticket, they will rather die on the field than fail!you are partially right. Notice i said partially. Moses and Mikel were "hungry" even though they are already playing for a big team. My point is, people like Martins and Taiwo are still relevant. No team can dispense with experience or why do you think Scolari brought back Ronaldinho into the Brazil team or why do you think guys like Cole and Gerrard are still in the England set up? Okay, for Osaze, it may be bye bye but the door should be left open for the others ![]() |
Can the poster explain how Tonto Dike made it into the list ?? ![]() |
I supported BF for psychological reasons. Ghana always play like wounded lions whenever they play Nigeria because they always believe they have something to prove against us. Also it's psychologically beneficial to the players since BF is regarded as s lower ranked country than Ghana ![]() |
Only in Nigeria you see a public office holder leaving office for several months without notifying the public and suddenly showing up without prior notification . What a country !!!! ![]() |
this is clearly daylight robbery! burkina faso has been robbed ceasely in this game. This is shameful for African football ![]() |

i can never forget this one. While i was in secondary school (my school was boys only) i was on my way to school when the vehicle of a fellow school mate (a pegeout 404 pick up) stopped to give me a ride and i hurriedly jumped into it, grateful that i will have extra money for lunch as i would be able to add my transport money to my lunch money. I was sitting at the back of the pick up and as the pick up approached our main gate, we started hearing the assembly bell, and knowing fully that woe betides any student who is late for assembly, i decided to jump out of the pick up van, without waiting for it to stop but as was jumping out, my bag handle caught the lock hook at the back of the pick-up. Rather than drop my bag, i naively held on to it and the resultant effect was that the pick up started dragging me along the tarred road leading to our school. Though the dragging was for about 30 seconds,i stustaned bruises all over my body. All the other students around were watching as the pick up was dragging me. Some sympathised with me but most of them laughed ![]() |
this picture is obviously photoshopped. For a start, PHCN would never use such a building for its office. Secondly, the signpost doesn't look real. It's obvious that it has been added to the original picture ![]() |
so a player like kaka can be ignored? chai! see quality team ! |

Man sues UK based nurse for abandonment Published on February 5, 2013 by · 14 Comments A Nigerian businessman, James Onyike has sued his wife, Patricia, a nurse, based in the United Kingdom for allegedly abandoning him and their children since 2008. Onyike told a Cusomary Court in Garki, Abuja, that “my wife secured a one-year admission for further studies in the United Kingdom (UK). I paid the tuition and accommodation fees for the programme on the understanding that she would return after one year. But on expiration of the programme, my wife decided to stay back and enroll for another programme. On completion of her second course, she refused to come back to Nigeria. I continued to beg her to return, but she refused. Till date, she is still in London. She has practically abandoned me and the children,’’ he said. He said his wife was abusive and conducted herself in a manner unexpected of a married woman. “When I visited her in London, she was so hostile to me and the children. She never cared for the children as a mother would. When I told her to try spending a little time with the children, she told me that she does not have time and that I should look after them. She kept avoiding me all through our stay, we never related like husband and wife should. In fact, she even threw me out of her room,’’ he said. Onyike said that the love, affection and trust expected to exist between couples evaporated almost immediately after the wedding, according to NAN. “On our wedding day, my wife’s real father showed up, but my wife had lied to me that her father was dead. She made me pay the bride price to someone whom she said was her brother. Even when she visited Nigeria in 2010, though we stayed under the same roof, she was always keeping to herself. She was no longer exhibiting that motherly love and affection,’’ he said. Onyike prayed the court to dissolve the marriage, grant him custody of the children and restrain his wife from entering his home. On her part, Patricia, who was represented by a counsel, Mrs Timitope Joshua, said they had enjoyed love and affection for each other. “There was never any serious quarrel between us; he even encouraged me to travel for further studies. When I finished the first course, he visited UK and encouraged me to enroll for another course, which he said would make me a better qualified nurse,’’ she said. Patricia Onyike: denies abandonment She said that her husband and the children always visited her in London on every vacation, adding that “whenever they could not make it, I visit. “I have never been hostile in any of their visits. I try my best to take good care of them and we stay together happily until the vacation is over. So, I am surprised to hear that my husband has levelled accusations against me,” she said. Patricia said her husband never informed her that he was no longer comfortable with her studies in the UK. She said she still loved her husband and her two children. She also said that the marriage had not broken down irretrievably and could be redeemed in the interest of the children. She begged the court not to grant her husband’s prayers, adding that she was still interested in the marriage. The Judge, Alhaji Suleiman Ismaila, gave them four weeks to try and reconcile and adjourned the case to March 7. |
According to a reliable source, music star Ayo Ibrahim Balogun aka Wizkid achieved fame through diabolic means. According to this source who happens to be a bigwig in the entertainment industry, Ayo (as he was then known) was desperate to make headway in the entertainment industry and was was ready to jump the queue of established artistes. He discussed his dream with a friend of his, who then took him to a babalawo (herbalist) in Imeko, a town in Ogun State. The herbalist promised him fame, but on the condition that he (wizkid) must join a secret cult where members are fast-tracked to success. He was also warned that apart from his cult membership certain conditions must be followed and certain rites must be performed annually if he is to stay at the top, with fame and riches. In desperation, Ayo agreed to these condions and soon afterwards, he met his mentor Banky W, and the rest as they say, became history. This according to our source, explains the reason why he adopted the stage name "Wizkid", with the 'Wiz' being a short for 'Wizard'. It also explains why he made some incantatory remarks in his hit track 'Pakurumo' and regularly calls himself Wizzy, in his songs. www.ghanb |

my first nations cup was maroc 88. I remembered the late Samuel Okwaraji scoring a beautiful goal against Cameroun. Back in those days, only 8 teams participated in the nations cup so the who tournament starts from the Quarter final stage and it was more interesting back then. Peter Rufai was one of the best goalkeepers in Africa then. I remember him catching Lakhdar Belounmi's penalty during the shoot out in the semis. Then bright Omokaro sending an Algerian player out of the tournament through a brutal tackle when we were one player down. He was thus nicknamed 10-10. Sadly, this period was the beginning of Issa Hayatou's reign and the refree tried to appease him by robbing us in the final when Henry Nwosu scored a legitimate goal which was ruled offside. The refree later awarded Cameroun a dubious penalty kick. I felt really sad after the match. It took me two days to get over the loss ![]() |
this is not honourable patrick. It's obvious someone made this up and labelled it as p. obahiagbon's statement ![]() |
this rubbish has to stop. Why not use the koranic to form these jokes, why use the bible? Something like this was also coined during the Farouk, Otedola saga. It more or less blasphemous and sacrilegious ![]() |

some people will never learn. An unknown entity suddenly gains fame and begins to see himself as a demi-god. 9ice made the same mistake when he foolishly parted ways with Toni Paye and id cabassa and now he is strugggling to remain relevant. I see this as the beginning of the end for Wizkid as i don't see him making any headway in the industry without Banky W. He's still learning the ropes in the industry and he's proving himself to be an ingrate ![]() |
i'm quite shocked when i hear people calling Nigeria underdogs or saying we would loose the game on sunday. What people fail to realise is that CIV has been dwindling since 2010. This was the same team that could not go beyond the first round in the world cup. The same Zambia whioh they couldn't beat was the same team which we nearly beat (but for poor officiating). CIV/Nigeria game has always been a tough duel from time immemorial and and they have never found it easy with us. The last time we met at the Nations cup, they beat Nigeria by a lone goal (through Drogba) which turned out to be an offside goal. What makes people think they would beat Nigeria silly? ![]() |
