@snowdrops

Yes it is funny because the question of the poster shows he has got his priorities wrong in 2 ways.

1. NYSC is national service and not for money making.

2. To get posted to the highest paying state, he must bribe his way and further corrupt the system.

Plateau state pays the highest. Especially for corpers posted to villages surrounded by fulani cattle rearers. They pay them N30,000 for as long as they are alive.

TV/Movies / Re: Some More Ways To Know You Are Watching A Nigerian Film by ShadyDeal(m): 9:41am On Mar 09, 2010
You know its a Nigerian movie when:

blood comes out before the bullet hits the body

everybody who dies in the film foams in the mouth no matter the cause of death

Emeka ike looks at the camera to get reassurance he's still an actor

the lead actor wears a yellow shirt sold for N500 with an oversize suit and still feels good in it

some guys are too ugly and are banished to act the role of armed robbers and hire assasins.

Genevive Nnaji (30 yrs) is made up to act as mother to Pete Edochie (60yrs), even though there is mama Toun Oni

you feel like you have seen this movie before, like Ini edo has worn this cloth before etc

when both the actor and actress enter swimming pool to bath instead of swimming.

when every attempt to kiss is accompanied by the sound of hhnnmmmwehn only for the lips not to make contact

producers are so much in a hurry to meet demands they cannot afford to iron rumpled clothes before rushing on set

The following are the miracle merchants and contractors who have been pre-qualified for the federal contract to "spiritually" reconstruct the health of president Yaradua

1. Enoch Adeboye as Julius Berger (highly respected, deeply corrupt, able to dine with any devil in govt)

2. T.B Joshua as Borini Prono (company is allegedly owned by the devil himself)

3. Chris Oyakhilome as Stabilini Visinoni (flamboyant, lacks conscience, and doesnt bother about source of income)

4. David Oyedepo as Chagoury and Chagoury (shrewd money machine, able to identify cheap profit/income)

Other companies (merchants) will be added soon.
Politics / Re: 'Let T B Joshua Heal Your Husband' - Turai Urged by ShadyDeal(m): 5:39pm On Mar 01, 2010
I really envy the particular pastor (miracle merchant) that will win this federal government contract to reconstruct the health of Mr president Yaradua. I wish I had established my own church business too. I could have been pre-qualified for this contract too.
Politics / Re: 'Let T B Joshua Heal Your Husband' - Turai Urged by ShadyDeal(m): 3:15pm On Mar 01, 2010
All Nigerian miracle merchants masqurading as "men of God" are actually frauds. The case of Umaru Musa Yaradua is the true test of their television claims because we know his sickness is real and not contrived. Let any one of them come out now and heal Nigeria's most important personality. Of course they will give excuses as to why the man does not merit "healing" him. Adeboye, Oyedepo, Oyakhilome, Tuberculosis Joshua, and even the biggest fraud Reinhard Bonke should step forward and be counted. If they fail to do something now, it should be clear to all and sundry that we have just been had by the counterfeits. But dont get me wrong: i believe in miracles but not in merchandishing.

Joseph Akpala was wasted, Micheal Eneramo was disgraced, Dele Adeleye was demoralised, by this same Amodu. He should have requested to have Umaru Musa Yaradua in the team as top striker sef. Just check out those injured

obafemi, yakubu, Odemwingie (a must even if injured), shittu, Yobo, etc. The only difference between these guys and Yaradua is that they are not in the intensive care unit.
Politics / Ex-govs, Senators Barred From U.s. by ShadyDeal(m): 9:43am On Jan 07, 2010
Ex-Govs, Senators Barred From U.S.

Wednesday, 06 January 2010 19:20 Daily Independent Former Governors and their relatives as well as some Nigerian officials have been barred from the United States, in a new directive rolled out by Washington. Their visas have also been revoked, said the State Department, as the administration tightens entry requirements into the country. A former Northern Governor (I bet this is Ex-Gov Ahmed Sani of Zamfara), Senators, and businessmen are among thousands of names added to a list of “suspected terrorists and terror group sympathisers” barred from flights bound for the U.S.

The addition of names to the terrorist watch list and the no-fly list came after U.S. officials scrutinised a larger database of suspected terrorists, the White House said.

Homeland Security Department officials explained that those on the watch list are subject to additional scrutiny before being allowed to enter the U.S.

Anyone on the no-fly list is barred from boarding aircraft in or headed for the country.

President Barack Obama, who met for several hours with his national security team, said the measure is to expand the intelligence gathering and make it impossible for suspected terrorists to come to America.

He maintained that preliminary report showed that the name of Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab is on a database of about 550,000 suspected terrorists.

However, Obama added, he was not on a list that would have subjected him to additional security screening or kept him from boarding the flight which took him to the U.S. on December 25 last year.

This omission prompted a review of the National Counter terrorism Center’s massive Terrorist Identities Data mart Environment (TIDE) database, which now contains over one million names from countries designated as sponsors of terrorism.

America on Monday added Nigeria to its list of countries that sponsor terrorists, meaning “enhanced screening of all holders of the Nigerian passport.”

The measure affects any American-bound air passenger travelling through “state sponsors of terrorism or other countries of interest” such as Pakistan, Yemen, and Nigeria, according to U.S. Transport Security Administration (TSA).

It is to ensure “effective aviation security beyond our borders.”

Nigeria is listed along with Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Yemen.

By December 30 last year, Nigerian travellers had come up against restrictions in Europe and the U.S.

Obama ordered a comprehensive review of visa policy, tightening regulations for Nigerians, especially students and those aged between 20 and 60.

For those travelling through Amsterdam, the government has approved the use of body scan imaging device, which sees through clothing, to detect explosive devices in any part of the body.

Dutch Interior Minister, Guusje Ter Horst, said Abdulmutallab did not raise any concerns as he passed through Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to board the plane which he later attempted to bring down in Detroit.

The measures justify the fears of Nigerians that they will now be singled out for special security attention, although the U.S. State Department assured that the policy is not to punish Nigerians with genuine business in America, or students, but to plug loopholes through which potential terrorists can get in.

I notice from the profile of Jakumo that the last time he posted on this forum is 30th November. I became apprehensive as that is unusual of the guy and because that date was close to the time Yaradua became hospitalised in Saudi Arabia. I hope the person we know as Jakumo here is not President Yaradua or one of his aides who have been holed up un Saudi for a month now. Jakumo pls speak up.

My instinct strongly nudges me to the belief that you are either the same person as citizenY, his brother from the same mother (not necessarily from the same father), his alter ego or just his fellow alumnus. Both of you have failed to understand the posts you porported to be replying to. Do I proceed to type my post in Igbo language for people like you then?. For your sake only i will explain my point thus: "I wont dismiss him" means I respect him. Obahiagbon may be funny but he is intelligent. That is an education for free.

You don't seem to understand the topic before posting your reply. The names mentioned were just suggestions and not an association. By the way, what do you have against Hon Patrick Obahiagbon? To me, he comes across as a national asset of a great comic value. But I wont dismisss him.

I have always been fascinated by the writings and posts of the Nairalander that goes by the name "Jakumo" As is natural, many might have wondered who in Nigeria is capable of such mischief in writing and able to deploy the queens language with amazing ease. This fellow Jakumo also has a way of giving insightful analysis into virtually all topics on Nairaland. Who In Nigeria do you think Jakumo possibly is? Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon, Odia Ofeimu, Kris Okotie. Common, who is this Jakumo guy?

@KnowAll

Your logic is both puerile and infantile. What gives you the impression that everybody who must be president must come from the PDP? And for your information, rotational presidency is not a constitutional issue. Buhari contested against Obasanjo even when it was agreed power should go to the south. If not for rigging, Buhari would have been president. So bro, never say never.
Politics / Re: Babatunde Fashola For President by ShadyDeal(m): 10:23am On Dec 03, 2009
Nigeria as a nation puts the worst in the best position and the best in the worst position. A nation that puts a Fashola in charge of Lagos and a Yaradua in charge of Nigeria can never be great! Nigeria as a nation will never be great.
Politics / Fashola's Special Adviser Resigned On Health Ground by ShadyDeal(m): 9:27am On Dec 02, 2009
Fashola, others laud special adviser's resignation on health ground

IT was a show of class and leadership yesterday as the Lagos State government held a valedictory Executive Council Session in honour of a cabinet member, Mr. Segun Ayobolu who resigned as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy on health grounds, with effect from November 30.

Governor Babatunde Fashola, while speaking during the emotionally touching session, commended Ayobolu, who opted out of the state cabinet to attend to his health, for not being a desperate public officer.

The event was held at the Exco Chambers of the Lagos House, Ikeja.

Pouring encomiums on Ayobolu, the cabinet members said in tendering his resignation, he has shown his true colour as a patriotic and selfless public servant.

Governor Fashola said he shared the emotions of cabinet members about the departure of the special adviser, adding that his exit will leave a very big vacuum in the Lagos State team.

Fashola recalled that when Ayobolu told him of his decision to leave on health grounds, he could not go against it, because it would have been very unfair to insist that he continues in office against his wish.

He described Ayobolu as a respected public commentator who served the state for an uninterrupted period of 10 years.

Assuring that Ayobolu is not suffering from a terminal disease and would always be available after undergoing the best of treatment of which the state would support him, Governor Fashola said his action epitomises the belief that people do not need titles to render service to the public.

The governor expressed the hope that the former Special Adviser would not abandon his monthly backpage treatise on Alausa Alert newspaper, saying it is a piece he enjoys reading regularly.

In his contribution, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris said Ayobolu was a conscientious and diligent man whom he was very happy to have worked with.

He added that already, the Ministry of Health, had initiated a memo to the council on plans for his medical treatment.

In his comment, Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr. Jide Sanwo Olu while wishing Ayobolu the best of luck in his future undertakings, noted that with his voluntary resignation, he has demonstrated what leadership should be about.

He said everyone should be able to ask himself or herself if he is really giving his best at all times because: "Segun decided that he was not giving his best and bowed out when the ovation was loudest".

Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Prince Adesegun Oniru prayed that God grants Ayobolu and all cabinet members good health in the service of their fatherland.
