Education › Re: Teachers, Before You Flog That Child....Listen by Shaev7(m): 10:07pm On Mar 06, 2018 |
snowden9: I'm a Batch A Stream 1 Corps member (Yea. Counting down weeks to my POP). I currently teach in a private school in rivers state. Nuff about all the intro. To the point now, shall we? I experienced something today and I just thought i should share to all teachers(both corps members and full time teachers), intending teachers and intending corps members.
I had an SS1 economics class by 12pm and when I got to the class, few seconds in, the students didn't greet. I was expecting someone to save them and echo the routine class greeting so I wouldn't have to punish them (our proprietress have been sounding warning to us as of late to punish the students if we encounter any act of indiscipline from them. Not greeting a teacher qualified as an act of indiscipline). Someone finally called out for the class to greet. They all stood up to greet. Except one girl. I was a bit furious and i asked her why she didn't stand up and greet, she still bent her head on the desk without a reply and as expected, the 'Teacher dictator' in me(every teacher has it) wanted to call her out and give her some strokes of cane. I asked a student if the 'disobedient' girl was sick and the reply was 'No'. Now, i really got more pissed off and wanted to punish her but all of a sudden, i just ignored it, brushed it aside and went on with my teaching.
A few hours later, I was walking past the SS1 class and I saw a girl crying (a different girl),when I asked what happened, they told me one of their classmates mum that was pregnant lost her baby that's why she was crying. I came to know later that the other 'disobedient' girl of my economics class was crying at that time when I entered the class for the same reason that was why she didn't stand up to greet. On my own part, i had to praise myself for making the right decision not to punish her cos i know i wouldn't have been happy with myself if I had punished her and later found out that this was the reason why she didn't stand up to greet.
So my dear teachers, before you flog that student for coming late without listening to her reasons, do you know if she witnessed an altercation between her parents and she was the child trying to settle them? Before you flog him for failing, do you know if his guardian punished him by not feeding him all through yesterday just because he mistakenly broke a plate while washing? Meanwhile he had an exam to write the following day. Before you flog that child, do you know what's going on in the life of that child? Before you raise that cane above your head, ask yourself, 'Have i listened to this child?'
Listen.... It'll only take a minute. Good. its not new, just that some teachers and corps members don't engage in counseling and understanding their students. Your encounter is exactly mine when I served, the only difference was, the girl lost her mum. So we need to understand pupils and students behaviours in class. |

FortifiedCity:

stories like this make me wanna cry. Take my word the way you want. I don't care.
I have tried to imagine how peaceful the world would have been if radical Islamism didn't exist. Check out all the countries that are not receptive of such ideas, they are some of the most peaceful, wealthiest and most productive countries on the planet. It's either they are killing to satisfy whom they worship or they are being used by politicians to cause instability in the world.
In the case of bokoharam, it started when OBJ was President but it didn't pose much of a threat until your current President started supporting and probably funding them. If it wasn't that way, why on earth would bokoharam appoint him as a mediator during GEJ's regime.
Now they have grown so big and even subtly funded with tax payers money in exchange for abductees. This is happening when bokoharam ran out of funds.
I will get to a position of paramount authority someday, and all I'll do is to make idiots who have put this country in a mess pay dearly with their lives and that of their children.
This country and the entire world means so much to me; I am the master for crying out loud.
They will pay! So help me O God the creator. #IstandWithYou real talks. my heart bleeds, my pen bleeds and feels like no ink in the pen and no lines on the paper. We've got to stand up and stay firm! #CheGuavarious |

sunnysunny69: Catholic church will not give you unless you have a communion card, but outside Nigeria Europe for example, holy communion is like pure water, wherever mass is celebrated, anyone can join the line and have it, only we Africans turn things on our heads.
EDIT. Some catholic churches but not all. Don't say what you don't know. The Catholic church that uses card is a way to take statistics of members who receives communion. Most Catholics don't use Communion cards, rather the Priest in his wisdom directed by God is sometimes knows a member who is about to receive the Communion is not a Practising Catholic so he ignores and ask the person to see him after the Mass . |

AkunnaTochi: Revelation 22:18-21. 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Note the words "PROPHESY OF THIS BOOK" and "PLAGUES THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK."
It may interest you to note that at the time Revelation was written, there was nothing like the Canon of the new testament and we never had the Bible like we have it, today. So, the writer of Revelation wasn't reference to the Bible that you have in your hand in the form that you have it. He was speaking of the words of his prophecy - Revelation.
However, no reasonable Christian distorts the words of Scripture, even though Christianity is not a religion of the Books. Yes. God continues to speak to mankind even outside of the pages of the Bible.
But then, this line of argument isn't at all necessary because the Catholic Church has never distorted and will never distort the words of Scripture. Your arrogant insistence doesn't change this truth.
Speaking of adding and removing(let's assume your logic is sensible), from which portion of the Bible did your Pastors learn to wear suits and speak with Microphones? This people are professionals in criticizing the catholic church. Leave them. After misinterpreting the bible, they are looking for who will perish with them. |

Emmanystone: Mr. Scriptures Some Christians outside Catholic church seem to turn the scriptures upside down. Heresies! As a Christian, you do the opposite thing and yet you say you practise Christianity. Nobody needs to tell you, time will tell. What church do you attend? Live out your Christian life and stop criticising Catholics. Our Lady mother Mary and Jesus is calling you, please answer the call. |

Before this man made this statement, I longed said it within my friends during discussion, and that's the reason you see same lecture patterns within schools..Shame! I studied Engineering, the fact that what do we know? How was the lectures impacted on us? A clear view is the HND and B.sc issues, a sane Country knows what to do. I quoted by asking questions that if Bsc are called Engineer and HND are called Technologist, what would one say about Science and Technology? What does an Engineer do and a Technologist do? We are just fooling ourselves with papers that our Nigeria system is yet to review. If you remember Secondary Physics and Chemistry practicals 25 years ago, Light Prism, Equilibrium etc and Titration, Salt analysis respectively this same practicals are yet to change. Is what they still experiment till date, what will you call that kind of education? Its really a mishap for this nation. Education is gone! |

Yinxies: So priests want to get quick riches? Is it even biblical? Must it be Biblical before we know its wrong? Let the Priest be probed by Bishop. Am a Catholic I won't support this, not the fact that they partook in the scheme but the fact that it may be peoples money. Nobody says MMM is bad, after all, its investment with your own risk of loosing. But their position as priest which we know they rarely have business money of their own. .hmmmm it's well. |
