All these ranges are for catchment area and those who did the school's Predegree.
Mind you, the cut off for MBBS this year was 280 (merit), 270 (ELDS) and 250 (catchment).
The 243 am seeing up there is for Matric student if I may hazard a guess.
.
PS: am a 100 level medical student in the said institution

Okay. Here's what I want to say and it's no attack on anybody. There's a big difference between goals & dream. If your goal is to work in health sector, then maybe don't consider only MBBS, try other sister courses too. Believe me, you'll end up just where you wanted - which is, work in the hospital. But if your goal is to be a doctor, then that's what you should work towards.

It's either you commit or you don't. It's either you want Mbbs and you chase it or you don't and settle for something else. There's no two ways about it because you can't eat your cake and still have it looking you in the eyes. There's no excuse as regards to studying Mbbs that you can't overcome. Is it age, is it money, is it the workload, is it the admission process? I mean, there's no new problem that any aspirant could be facing now that someone else in the past hasn't faced. Just look for novel ways to solve old problems.

If you want MBBS, you need to first convince yourself and not wait for people to convince you about it. If you can't even make decisions for yourself and you're still doubtful of your abilities at this point, then maybe medicine is not really for you.

I'm tired of people on this thread telling others that they are wasting their time chasing a fool's dream. I just excuse myself because I know such posts don't apply to me, but to the naive and fertile minds who come to this thread trying to find solutions to their problems, they can be dampening. & I won't waste a breathe of my time trying to argue with anyone or convincing anyone about whether they should do MBBS or not.

So, please if you want to sell other courses apart from MBBS on this thread, please do it without throwing insults at those who want MBBS and are still chasing it. Let's start to respect ourselves and act like reasonable people too.

Well-done for the analysis chief. Actually U I didn't have an outstanding session again. The ones offered admission recently will resume next year. So, if he writes UTME and gain admission into U I, he will resume in 2023. Other things being equal.

The reason why U I didn't have an outstanding set (pending year) again is because, she didn't admit any student from this year UTME.
Thanks for the explanation

Hi guys, Please I need your advice....

Between UI, OAU and UNIBEN

Which one can you advice aspirant to choose next year for mbbs

Advice based on admission experience, thanks so much for the comments
Hi Oluwanimi. Good evening, you asked for advice based on admission experience in those schools mentioned. I know of OAU (cuz I had my first degree there) & UI. Two very transparent but not so easy to get into. Any aspirant with solid utme score and choose any of the two (OAU /UI) for MBBS. If you have a flawless O'levels, it'll boost your chances in OAU since the school still factor that in during aggregate calculation.
I've not sat for UI post utme before but there are solid tutorials in Ibadan that boasts of aspirants who aced the exam like it was nothing. So if you're considering UI, first have a mad ass utme score, then find your way to Ibadan, make enquiries about those tutorial centers and work your ass off studying. I can bet it that you'll make the right score to beat UI cut off. I'm not guaranteeing you admission but I'm here to tell you that I know a few medical students in UI who got in without knowing anybody or paying anybody. Just their results and since UI always publishes her cut off, so you can be guaranteed that if you meet her cut off you'll get in.
As regards OAU, well, she's like UI - transparent but not so simple. OAU post utme is 40% of the whole score, Utme is 50%, while WAEC is 10%. So even without sitting for the post utme yet. If you add your utme + WAEC aggregates together, you should have a maximum of 60%. So calculate your jamb score and your WAEC aggregates first, anything you get, subtract it from OAU 78.8 (that's the merit score for the ongoing 2021/2022 admission excersice). The remainder should be what you'd be aiming for in OAU post utme.
I have a friend who had 327 in utme and B parallel in his O'levels. Like that he already has (40.875 + 9) = 49.875. When he subtracted it from the last cut off, he needed to score at least 30/40 in OAU post utme to beat the merit cut of. And as it would turn out, he actually scored 30/40 in the exam. He was above this year's cut of by just 1 point if we use merit and by 3 points if we use catchment area. OAU post utme is not simple and at the same time, it's not the hardest exam in the world. In fact, I felt the last conducted one was quite easy as many that I know scored well.
UI still has a pending year in ground. Her fresher's would resume most likely maybe March next year. So if you're choosing them you'd resume by 2024. OAU on the other hand has a stable and balanced academic set. The 2021/2020 session is set to begin by January so if you're picking them now, you should expect to resume by maybe early 2023 or so. (all things equal without strike.)
The major issue right now is you acing your utme. Once you have a very good score in jamb, it'll make the list of institutions available for you to pick form longer. Different school use different admission methods. Have a good jamb score. Do your research about your school of choice. And apply to where you have the greatest chance of entry. That's the trick in few simple lines. All the best

provide he's from kogi, he's on a safe side.

The worst that could happen is for Udus to give him BDS
Last year BDS was new. This year, BDS already has lots of aspirants. Many that won't be admitted. In fact, there is no guarantee that all that choose BDS will be admitted, not to talk of someone who did not choose BDS but was hoping to be 'thrown' to BDS. I'm sorry, but the throw may end in applied chemistry, Edu or Microbiology. Aspirants need to stop assuming that if I did not get MBBS, I'll be given BDS or worst nursing or Mls. Those that choose MLS initially would be considered first.
In fact if you have 302 and they did not give you MBBS, udus will consider someone who has 275 that choose MLS first before considering you that has 302 for the same MLS. They believe you did not want MLS that's why you did not choose it initially, so they'll first settle those that choose it initially and only if there are still slots before they'd consider you.

bro u stand a very good chance.

Disregard all this folks trying to downside ur score.
I was an aspirant of pharmacy last year, udus with a 235 score but I was denied admission, cuz I didn't attain the cutoff *260

But another aspirant with same score was admitted. Cuz he was from catchment area. *Benue

Nb: kogi is under udus catchment. U stand a good chance
LOL. You sounded like the admission officer. I'm so sorry you were denied last year but if that guy should follow your advice truth be told, he won't smell college of health sciences.

Any udusok medical student here.is 287 enough to study mbbs from kogi state
Udus will tell you their merit is 280, but if you believe that shii, then you're on a long journey to applied chemistry.
Truth is 287 is supposed to be enough, but the issue is that with 287, you may be the 10th on the list for MBBS from kogi and maybe God helps you only top 5 are admitted then you'd be left with no choice than to manage Agric, Edu etc.
I hate to tell people to change course, but except you're confident and you have terrestrial backings, I'm sorry to say your 287 may not be enough.
During the last admission process, only 4 kogi students were admitted via jamb, the rest made it in via Matric and I'm not sure their totality is up to 8. I can suggest BDS, Pharmacy, MLS, and Nursing. Those courses have a good number of Kogites with scores in this range and less of yours.

Lmao. Most of them don't stay behind before náà.. You don't expect them to spend such amount and still be dragging for residency slot in Nigeria. Most actually have the financial capacity to do the MBBS abroad. Either stringent rules or just wanting to 'use' Nigeria based on how cheap medical education is in the country. It's rare to see medical students in private uni complain about tuition fees.
Na Dr. Emeka whey finish for UNN go dey struggle for residency slot in like 5 hospitals. Dr. Amaka Bailey whey finish for Bowen or Babcock don already japa go one state for US.

Thanks
lol. You're funny. Do you want the blunt truth or I should mind my business? THE TRUTH is your score is not anywhere better than anybody else. Do you think it is 180 they are using to enter MBBS in unizik?
Do a rough sample estimate in your hood. How many applied for mbbs in unizik there. Gather at least 20 and it may be less than 3. Yet unizik is expected to receive at least 20,000+ aspirants for MBBS.
I'm not here to tell you to change course, I have never told anyone to change course. It is you that will sit your butt down, assess yourself, do your homework, try to do permutations with the possibility of you getting MBBS with your score.

Chief,it's just a suggestion.
I felt that way because taking jamb again might be a bit much to handle while studying for school exams.
With the competition and all.
If he can handle it,then it's okay.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
You're right Alexa, a bird at hand, expecially one like BDS worth hundred in the bush. He said BDS is boring to him so I can't blame him. It is best he try utme while still being a student of BDS. If it works well, he can then leave and it is goes other way round, he can still continue his boring BDS like that.
