Who will choose Pandora Peter Obi when his Igbo governors are against him, SS gave Atiku 2.2M votes, SW gave him 1.6M and SE with his vice President gave him mere 1.4M votes.

Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, has reportedly dumped Peter Obi, his running mate in the 2019 presidential election.

Mr Abubakar widely known as Atiku has not declared interest in the contest yet but his son said his father will seek the exalted position again.

Business Day, citing sources, reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain has decided not to run with Mr Obi, a former Anambra governor, due to the little financial contributions the latter made during the 2019 exercise that saw them losing to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

He is said to have now preferred Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as running mate against the former governor who is also said to lack the political structure expected of him.

“Prior to the 2019 election, Governor Peter Obi didn’t have a strong political structure outside the South East,” the paper quoted a source as saying. “People just loved him because of his vast knowledge of the economy, winning an election goes beyond all that.

“For instance, since he left office and joined PDP he has not been able to have his nominees win the governorship election in the state. Although he is brilliant and can speak good grammar, interprets the economy very well, winning an election is much more than that. How much did he bring to the table?

“To successfully run an election in this country you need money, connection, strong and vast political structure, etc, and these you find in abundance in Nyesom Wike. He is a good material any day and that’s not the kind of man you leave behind, especially if you want to win election in Nigeria,” the source added.

The new development might have informed the decision of Mr Obi to contest the ticket if his party zones it to the South or throws the race open.

Mr Wike who is reportedly backing his Sokoto State counterpart, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, for the race, was not immediately reached for comments on wether he has accepted the offer from Atiku.

Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has tendered conditions southern presidential aspirants must meet to earn its support for the next presidential election in 2023.

Southern politicians aspiring to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in office have recently been jostling around consulting with stakeholders and their supporters over their respective ambitions.

Former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu; his Imo counterpart, Rochas Okorocha; Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, former senate president, Anyim Pius are few of the presidential hopefuls that have gone public with their declarations.

Others are Kingsley Moghalu, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; Sam Ohuabunwa, former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and Dele Momodu, Ovation publisher.

Speculated to have interest but are yet to publicly declare are: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Senator Orji Kalu; Governor Kayode Fayemi, former president Goodluck Jonathan and former presidential spokesperson Doyin Okupe.

In an interview with Sun Newspapers, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, said any of the aspirants from the South, where power is expected to shift to, must apologize to the Fulani extraction over the alleged maltreatment of his kinsmen.

Mr Bodejo also said such an aspirant will show the willingness to resuscitate old grazing routes which the Buhari administration vowed to revive but has yet to, as at press time.

He also said it would be difficult for any southern state governor who assisted in enacting anti open grazing bill in their domain to earn his group's support for the presidency.

"If you hate Fulani and 2023 is approaching and you are coming to ask for our support, which role have you played to support the Fulani cause, whether as a sitting vice president, senator, governor?" he asked. "If you are a sitting governor, what have you done for the Fulani in your state? All these people running around to be president are apostles of anti-grazing laws.

"For any aspirant who wants our support, he must have a firm commitment to bringing back all the grazing reserves which transverse the entire country, build houses, provide water and other amenities in the grazing reserves, and allow our people to do their businesses freely in the South. Such grazing reserves should be gazetted.

"However, I don’t see any of them coming because of their mindset against the Fulani. We are not asking for tarred roads, and other things in the cities, we are just asking for grazing reserves. You are not the one to teach us how to do our businesses. While you are in your mansion, our own mansion is the bush," he added.

The Miyetti Allah official also distanced his group from a similar one that endorsed the candidacy of Mr Tinubu, saying Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) is for Nigerians while his group consist of only members from the Fulani extraction.

"Maybe MACBAN members want to go into politics or they want to turn their association into a political party," he noted. "It doesn’t concern me. They are free to endorse or support Tinubu, he is one of them. MACBAN is very different from ours.

"MACBAN comprises members from different tribes who are into cattle breeding. Anybody from any place or tribe can be their member. But ours, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore is purely a Fulani socio-cultural organisation; it is just for the Fulani ethnic group and it is not open to any person from another tribe."

Each time your likes repeat this line of Tinubu betrayal of Jonathan, I am left wondering when Tinubu and Jonathan sign any covenant of mutual support towards 2015. It takes dishonesty to pretend to have forgotten that without the support of Tinubu which even involved a kind of betrayal of his own party's Ribadu in favour of Jonathan who was in the party that had been hounding Tinubu, Jonathan wouldn't have lasted in power longer than the remaining 1½ years of Yaradua's first term.
This whole Igbos' talk of Tinubu's betrayal of Jonathan reeks of the same baseless manner of accusing Awolowo of betraying Ojukwu in spite of the fact that Awolowo never signed or even verbally agreed to Ojukwu on any joint secession plot. This Igbos' entitlement mentality is skewed because Jonathan is not even from the SE who alone have continued to cry betrayal for the past seven years.

ONYENDU MAZI NNAMDI KANU NEVER DENIED BEING THE LEADER OF IPOB – LET THE RECORDS BE SET STRAIGHT:

Greetings UmuChineke,

Our attention has been drawn to the deliberate misrepresentation/falsehood and wrong narratives being perpetuated by some mischief makers, and which is unfortunately gradually gaining prominence on social media platforms and print media. Hence, it is pertinent that we provide clarification and clear the doubt.

S.M. Labaran Esq., who stood in yesterday for the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation is a colleague I hold in high esteem, but I shall resist every mischievous ploy being adopted to misinform the unsuspecting members of the public who were not privy to the details of the proceedings in court yesterday, with a wrong and mischievous interpretation of the purport of the Plea taken by our indefatigable Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

For the records, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never denied being the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) while taking his plea, but only STOUTLY DENIED THE FACT THAT IPOB IS A TERRORIST ORGANISATION AND THAT BEING ITS LEADER IS AN OFFENCE, which position is well informed.

Members of the Public should be well guided that the status of the black market order proscribing IPOB is a subject of Appeal in Appeal Number: APPEAL NO. CA/A/214/2018, pending before the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division.

That being said, it is only laughable that the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in their desperate but futile attempt to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it, brought a charge bordering on the status of IPOB, a subject matter of a competent Appeal, where issues has been joined with the same FGN.

Therefore, be properly guided UmuChineke, because we have sufficiently addressed the emptiness of that count and entire charge in our compelling Submissions before the Court, now adjourned to be heard on the 16th day of February, 2022.

We do not wish to dwell further on this subject, but be rightly informed that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never denied being the Leader of IPOB while taking his Plea yesterday.

Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday disobeyed the judge handling his trial bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.

Justice Binta Nyako had on Tuesday during the court sitting ordered the State Security Service (SSS) to ensure that Mr Kanu does not appear in the same outfits he has been wearing since he was mysteriously abducted from Kenya last year June.

But when the separatist leader appeared on Wednesday to take his plea on the amended 15-count charge preferred against him by the federal government he wore the outfit he was asked not to wear again.

When the matter was called, the Prosecution counsel, Mr Shuaibu Labaran, told the judge that the secret police complied with her order shifting the blame to Mr Kanu whom he said insisted on wearing the same clothes.

“My lord, based on your order yesterday, we provided Defendant with a new Orthopedic mattress, pillows and blankets,” Mr Labaran said. “As for his appearance, he chose to wear this particular one because he said that it is designers.”

Explaining why he wore the Fendi outfit despite the order of the court, his lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome, said it was not true that his client insisting on wearing the clothes again.

“My lord what happened was that by the time proceedings ended yesterday, and because it was not his visiting day, we were not able to pass to him, some clothes we obtained for him,” Mr Ozekhome explained. “We even discussed it with him this morning and he said that on the next visiting day he would want to have the new clothes.”

The leader of the defense team also commended the SSS for providing his client with a new mattress, pillows and blankets.

Mike Ozekhome, right activist and constitutional lawyer, has stated why he joined the defense team of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of foremost secessionist group IPOB.

Barely twenty four hours to today’s court sitting, the federal government amended its charges against Mr Kanu, increasing it to 15 from 7, an action described as a “joke taken too far” by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who heads the defense team.

Mr Kanu will take his plea tomorrow, the court ruled on Tuesday while adjourning to Wednesday.

Taking over as the leader of the defense team, Mr Ozekhome described the charges against his client as unfounded.

“Right to self determination is inalienable. It is guaranteed under both the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the African Charter on Peoples’ Rights,” the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said in a chat with Vanguard Newspapers at the Abuja Federal High Court. “I am here today because I believe that the charge against the Defendant is baseless.”
