IBADAN CLIMATE CARAVAN WALK DEMANDS CLIMATE JUSTICE FOR AFRICA

Olabode Samuel
Ibadan, Nigeria
November 9, 2024

Hundreds of youths and climate change activists converged on the University of Ibadan main gate on Saturday, November 9, 2024, to demand climate justice for Africa. The Ibadan Climate Caravan Walk, which commenced at 8 am, saw participants embark on an awareness rally from the university to Bodija Ojurin.

Brandishing placards with thought-provoking inscriptions such as "Debt Cancellation is Climate Justice!" and "Grant and not Loan," the youths emphasized the need for urgent action on climate change. Leader of the group, Mr. Tobiloba Ojuoluwa, stressed that Africa must demand its dues from international communities profiting from the continent's climate-related challenges.

"It's high time Africa arose and demanded climate justice," Ojuoluwa said in an interview. "We appreciate everyone who joined us for this walk and urge our leaders to take concrete steps toward addressing climate change."

The event culminated in creative displays by the youths, accompanied by Afrobeat music from top Nigerian artists. Sensitization materials, including flyers, tracts, customized t-shirts, and face caps, were distributed among traders at Bodija International Market to ensure the message resonates beyond the event.

The Ibadan Climate Caravan Walk serves as a clarion call to policymakers, international organizations, and individuals to prioritize climate justice and support Africa's efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

PoliticsPeter Obi Is Neither An Igbo Nor Biafrian Agenda, Olanrewaju Ojuoluwa by SharpmindsAC(op): 4:02pm On Feb 28, 2023
28th Feb 2023
Ibadan, Nigeria.

Tinubu is not a Yoruba agenda; neither is Obi an Igbo agenda nor is Atiku a Hausa/Fulani agenda. Let's not by ourselves set the country on fire on the altar of tribalism. It's really not worth it!

However, for what it's worth, LP's Peter Obi has provided the Nigeria masses with a viable alternative from the norm of oppression to a better future. The Nigerian masses, especially, the youths have grabbed the opportunity to make their voice heard by voting for Peter Obi massively.

Now, every contest has three sure outcomes: win, draw or lose. In a democracy, it's either you win or you lose. Therefore, people should be given the opportunity to either win or lose gallantly by providing a free and fair atmosphere for a contest. Not with coercion or intimidation! It's not only unfair, but also, appalling!

I am a full blown Yoruba man, of Yoruba parents and married to a Yoruba lady, yet, I fully support Peter Obi's mandate of fresh air and brighter future, away from the conspicuous corruptive gloom of the present day Nigeria which, if not cut short abruptly, will only lead to doom!

I know of a lot of Igbo people who support Atiku and others who support Tinubu. I also know of Hausa/Fulanis who support Obi heartily and and others, Tinubu. As I've said earlier on, I'm a Yoruba man who supports Peter Obi and I have many of my kinsmen who support Atiku. This is simply the beauty of democracy - the right to individual and collective choices!

So, all these sentiments spreading around as though we're in a civil war isn't worth it. It is barely an attempt to truncate our already staggering peace. Let's not fall for their antics. They're neither democratic nor diplomatic.

Finally, we all are stakeholders in the Nigeria project. Let no man, group of persons or a tribe intimidate the other. By equity and righteousness, I make bold to say that it's not yet Yoruba's turn. Since 1999, we've had 16 years of presidency already (that is, 8 years as President and 8 years as vice president).

The Hausa/Fulanis have had a 24-year term in the presidency (that is, they've always been in the Aso-Rock since the inception of the 4th Republic, either as the president or the vice president). The South-Southerners (Ijaws, though a minority) have had it for 8 years and no Igbo man has had a shot at all.

Though some will ague that Jonathan's government is for the south-south and the east. Now, even if we're going to term Jonathan's regime as a shot for the Igbos, it is still way behind the period of time the others have been there.

And for the record, if you do not trust the Igbos with power or would not give them the chance at power, then they have no business staying here in Nigeria. Then, they have been right so far if they want out, I mean, what sort of nonsense is this?

PoliticsTinubu's Position In The 2023 Presidential Election Will Be A Distant-third by SharpmindsAC(op): 6:38pm On Feb 15, 2023
The agenda is not only to make him irrelevant at the federal level by ensuring that he finishes at a far-third-distant position in the forthcoming presidential election, but to also, utterly retire him from active politics to the point that he loses his grip on power not only in the south west, but also in Lagos State, his domain.

At the end of the day, there won't be a formidable politician from the Yoruba descent, however, it is also a good thing as it will give room for the rise of new giants - the current breed having failed woefully.

Yes, you heard me, Tinubu and his contemporaries messed up big time! And because of their greed, the 30-year cycle of Yoruba-dilemma continues... First, Awolowo (1963), then, Abiola (1993), and now, Tinubu (2023)!

How beautifully would it have been if only Osinbajo was fielded? Even I myself would have made it a point of duty to support his candidacy and contribute my own quota to his campaign. And I'm sure that so would have many other Yoruba youths teaming behind Peter Obi today. However, the moment Tinubu became the almighty and said 'Emilokan', he blew Yoruba's already slim chances at becoming the next president of the Federal Republic...

Tinubu also talks too much! The mess we find ourselves currently is because of him. He is too frivolous and loves to show off and, act as the don. He is not calculative! This election has exposed him not to be as smart as his followers say he is.

How could he say on national television that Buhari lu'le three times and he came to his aid the fourth time? Even if Buhari is a weakling and impotent, he sure definitely must have those who would do all to fight for him. You don't do certain things until you have laid hold on power!

Since he made that pre-primary election speech, the battle line was drawn between him and the presidency, the Yorubas and the northern elites. He portrays a threat to the power-thirsty northerners (who are not willing in the first place to let go of power) that he cannot be controlled. Yes, he cannot be controlled or influence, but he could have fooled them to believing they could until he gets what he wants...

That is exactly the edge Osinbajo has over Tinubu. He portrays a personality that can be controlled and influenced. In fact, almost like a stooge - someone that will allow them have their way in his reign.

Unfortunately, our sad story continues as we may be in a country where the Fulanis continues rulership for another 8-year term! It is a sad reality but there's very little we could do as things stand. And every attempt to now sponsor Yoruba Nation agitation by this same Tinubu may be in futility.

When the Fulanis brought #RUGA, he did not comment. When they sieged the southwest and camped in our forests and started killing and maiming our people, he saw nothing bad. When the daughter of the foremost Pa Fasanranti, leader of the Afenifere was killed by the Fulanis, he made matters worse by his comments as he bloated jargons at the residence of the bereaved elder-stateman.

Well, back to the forthcoming elections, we all should brace up and expect a heavy military presence in the south for at least a month or for as long as we would accept the result of the election.

This simply implies that we should not expect that they would recall the soldiers deployed here for the elections. And for your information, they may end up bringing even Nigerien soldiers that do not understand even English language or perhaps suit up their Boko Haram militant group all in a bid to show brutal force should in case you do not want to accept their permutations at once!

Ensure that from henceforth, do all you can to stock up and prepare for at least two-three or even four weeks of no reasonable business activities.

Do your best to secure your family members. There is a shaking in the land and it will take along with it the feeble.

I am Olanrewaju O. Ojuoluwa, Youth Advocate and Social Reformer. I may not make sense to you but at least, try your best to secure yourself and your family in the coming days...

FamilyWhy It Concerns Me How You Raise Your Child by SharpmindsAC(op): 9:18am On Apr 29, 2022
HOW DOES IT CONCERN YOU HOW I RAISE MY CHILDREN?

"There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done."

Where we are right now is not by accident. In fact, it is the accumulative result of actions and inactions we have taken in the past. To imagine that how badly things are right now will be nothing compared to how worsened they will be in the nearest future is a trauma on its own.

No country in the word is as 'spiritual' as Nigeria. We as a people 'call on God' anytime and anywhere but we do not take it a step further by doing our part of the bargain. I'm sure the Europeans and Arabians that brought Christianity and Islam respectively must be jealous already but for our failure in real life. I live in a city where Muslims are relatively much and I see their attitude during this wrapping up Ramadan season and I can only wonder how none of it translate to success for us all. Churches and mosques at every nooks and crannies but nothing to show for it.

Just yesterday, I saw a 14-year old girl literally naked. What she wore practically exposed all her private parts. I was at my Mechanic's workshop and noticed how she became a spectacle for everyone present, myself inclusive. I wanted to call her and counsel her, then I remembered that she is most definitely 'on top of her world', being 'appreciated' by the male specie - "oh, what a beautiful me" she must have thought. And, because she was 'on cloud 9', I knew that she may want to embarrass herself (O maa fe fimi gba star). Then, I let her be. But God knows that if I had my way, I would have flogged stupidity out of her. Trust me when I say, she would have been delivered for good!

I mean, she came out from somewhere. There's the possibility her people saw her dressed up like that from home and they let her go all in the name of 'na you sabi, anyhow wey you wan live your life, live ham'. It shouldn't be! We all have a responsibility to reform these children and see to it that we shape their future. It is not good that in our lifetime, we can not secure their present not to talk of their future.

Now, someone may ask; "how does it concern you how I train my child?" It concerns me because you are sending pollution into the society. It is disturbing because both refined and unrefined children will mingle together with time and somehow their bad influence, like a virus will infect others and we will end up with a pandemic of immoral people dominant in the society.

The story of Julie Anke, the 10-year old Chrisland student whose sex video leaked of recent is just one instance of numerous others. It is bad that you have chosen the path of immortality and raised your ward in like manner, however, it is worse that you infect others with your plague. Yes, that your spoilt child is a plague. It is worse than leprosy and the last time I checked, y'all should be quarantined.

Let your spoilt brats stay home with you. Do not bring them out. It's okay if you want them that way, but it will be a crime the moment you attempt to infect other with them.

Conclusively, you still have the opportunity to change your ways though. You could go back to the old righteous way of not sparing the rod, flogging every nonsense out of a misbehaving child just like our parents handled us in the 70s through early 90s. You will be surprised at the magic it will perhaps. Let's stop this injustice of jeopardizing today's children's future by letting them be without caution, they will only end up in disaster.

I rest my case

PoliticsWhy PDP Delegates Must Consider Sen. Biodun Olujimi In Ekiti Primary Election by SharpmindsAC(op): 5:26pm On Jan 25, 2022
Dear Delegates,

You are not here merely to make a living, you have a greater purpose, you are here in order to enable Ekiti ketes to live more amply and lead a better life, you are here to determine the fate of Ekiti people both indigents and residents for the next four years; Either our people rise or fall depends on you and your vote. You have the power to make or mar the chances of PDP; the entire PDP members and supporters are looking up to you as you will decide if we will take over government come June 18 or we will still leave governance to the opposition despite all the harms they are doing to our people and collective heritage.

You hold a position of responsibility and going forward you must wield that responsibility well, we need you to elect a winner as our flag bearer, a winner that kept our light as a party alive in these past years despite attack from opposition and anti party proclamations, a winner that thrives against all odds....

We need you to elect a leader capable of changing our fortunes as a state and a people for the better, a leader that does not discriminate but preaches love and unity.

A leader with vision and passion, one who is not afraid of any problem, instead ready and able to rise to the occasion and provide solutions. A leader with integrity and one who believes in equity.

We need you to elect capacity, personality and finesse all rolled in to one.

We need you to elect Biodun Olujimi as our flagbearer, she represents the sum of all that will make us win, her work speaks volume and her acceptance all over the state is unequalled, moreso she represents the south and the entire Ekiti women, two blocs that will surely sway the general elections in our favor.

Dear delegates, let us vote to win today and tommorow, it will be a great disservice to ourselves, our party and our supporters if we fail to choose a sellable candidate.

PoliticsThe Need For More Women Like Sen. Biodun Olujimi In Prime Leadership Positions by SharpmindsAC(op): 7:33am On Dec 21, 2021
There is growing recognition of the untapped capacity and talents of women and their kind of leadership across the world.

The full and equitable participation of women in public life is essential to building and sustaining strong, vibrant democracies.

Accordingly, the meaningful participation of women in national, local and community leadership roles has become an important focus of global development policy. Still, some may ask WHY it matters if women become political leaders, elected policymakers - WHY does the world need more women in prime leadership positions?

Women's political participation results in tangible gains for democracy, including greater responsiveness to citizen needs, improvement in the economics of the people, more robust social security plans, increased cooperation across party and community lines, sustainable development etc.

Support Senator Biodun Olujimi for Governor, Ekiti and her people will surely be better for it.

PoliticsTosin Ajibare Pledges Support For Sen Olujimi, Says She Is A Competent Leader by SharpmindsAC(op): 12:33pm On Dec 17, 2021
ON THE ROAD TO PROGRESS...
Tosin Ajibare Gold.

With a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation, I want to thank my entire team and supporters, thank you for believing in me and standing in solidarity with me, thank you for believing in my vision for a Better State & A Working System, thank you for supporting the agitation & aspiration of we youths towards taking political power for the purpose of redemption.

Our vision is clear, our capacity is without doubt, our competence undeniable but one thing still takes it's bite on the agitations of we youths in the Nigeria political sphere, "FINANCE" . I believe one day soon we will overcome this drawback, I believe one day soon, we youths will have a structure and system that can support & finance honest aspirations of competent youths; I will work towards building such with the P2DY Movement alongside other Youths of Vision.

Our dilemma is serious and our handicaps are real but yet the performance of our lives must go on, and without self-pity or surrender we must march on, unfaltering, unshaken, making lemonades out of our lemons.

The Gubernatorial is on us, primaries will hold in January & we will play our part in it & towards it, Ekiti must get the best... As you know, I am a doer, because I believe that nothing is changed by opinions but by actions, It's time to march on.

In marching on, I'll be aligning with the best choice that represents my belief & my stand. What are my beliefs & stand for Ekiti 2022?
1. Competent leadership that genuinely loves our people and want to see them better.
2. The South Agenda aka Ekiti South For Governor.
3. Class Representation.

Going forward, I Tosin Ajibare Gold & my TEAM will be aligning with The Distinguished Senator Biodun Olujimi who embodies the aforementioned trio, We will be working to support Her Candidacy & Emergence as the next Governor of Ekiti State, so help me God.
Thank You.

NIGERIANS MUST OPT FOR THE BETTER ALTERNATIVE COME 2023
By: Olabode Olanrewaju Ojuoluwa

The beauty of democracy is that it is a system of numbers. It is also a system that presents periodic opportunities in form of elections, in order for the people and electorates to have a say in the matters pertaining to their lives - determining those who lead them for certain terms.

The essence of elections is to present an equally balanced avenue for the people regardless of their sentiments or political differences. Elections are for the aggrieved to right the wrong; the marginalized to turn the table around; the unemployed to have a change of story and be gainfully employed; and, the hungry to have food available in surplus and, secured.

It's however going to be a disaster if, when presented with an opportunity (of an election) to make things right and change the existing modality of excruciating hunger and abject poverty, one still goes ahead to make the wrong choice at the polls. It is not just a sin against oneself, but also against the upcoming generation and perhaps an unforgivable sin which can only be atone by ensuring one makes it right at the next opportunity.

You will agree with me that things have not been the same for us as a nation and as individuals since 2015. From hike in cost of virtually every commodity and service in the country, to worsening security situation of the country where banditry, insurgency and kidnapping is now the order of the day.

I mean, let's take a look at these; Foreign rice was NGN7500 per bag before APC's Buhari took over in 2015. The same foreign rice is now currently over NGN28000 per bag (more than 400%) increase, six years into APC's government. Beans and every other major foodstuff in its league have suffered same fate.

The same goes for Garri which was NGN65 per mudu/kongo when PDP's Goodluck left office in May 2015 whereas the same Garri is now NGN600 at the same measurement (approximately 900%). PDP left a keg of palm oil at NGN3200 while leaving the presidency in 2015. The same size of palm oil is now around NGN25000 (over 700%).

And finally, a commodity that determines everything else in Nigeria, PMS or what you may like to refer to as petrol which was left at NGN87 per litre by PDP but now sold for NGN165 per litre with a proposal to increase it to over NGN230 per litre by APC's Buhari government any time soon. So you all must gear up as the cost of transportation and everything else may be increased again, like having Ibadan to Lagos at, let's say, well only God knows!

Nigeria's woes have been on the rise for decades now but it is a fact that APC and their cohort have made things unimaginably worse in the shortest time possible and they're not stopping. As against their name, All Progressive Congress, they've proven to be unprogressive and callous; beyond wicked and insensitive. Should Nigeria still practice military government, I'm sure there would have been coup d'tat for a couple of times now by how woefully Buhari is performing.

I mean, at the wake of a new year in 2016, we were struck with a shocker - devaluation of naira which brought about the worst recession we have ever experienced as a people. It in fact became a humourous gist to tag everything bad to dollar increase for at least three years later, even by the common man who hasn't seen a dollar bill before.

What more can be said of the ridiculously lengthy period/process it took Buhari to announce his shabby cabinet which consists of regular faces of marauders whom he had earlier promised to launch an anti corruption war against. The world was depressed!

Giving that Nigerians have spoken loud and clear that there are no other parties they know outside the two top parties, I believe that, it is therefore safe to say that, even though the PDP were not perfect during their time at the helm of affairs and have their shortcomings by virtue of their decisions, indecisions, actions and inactions, they by far however remain a better alternative to the APC. Compared to the APC, PDP is progressive and compassionate as against harsh cruelty displayed on a daily basis by the current government.

PDP was for peace and unity. During their tenure, there was 'federal character' in play. The national conference organized by Goodluck Jonathan towards the tail end of his tenure says a lot. The resolutions of the conference, if implemented by the APC who claim to be progressive would have bettered our lot as a nation. Also, the fact that Jonathan, an incumbent relinquished power to APC's Buhari, an opposition party attests to the fact that PDP meant well for Nigeria.

APC on the other hand have introduced several programmes to destabilize the country - from RUGA which almost started another civil war to celebrating terrorists from the north for their act of terror. Buhari practices nepotism as a religion and that is perhaps the reason for so much calls by the secessionists to breakout of the country, especially by Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igbohos of this world.

I am sure that by now, the PDP have learnt their lessons. If nothing else, they would want to win the trust of the people once again by producing candidates with credible character and good intentions to better the lots of the people and ensure they thread the path of caution in all their dealings. Another thing that will help boost PDP's chances is for them to field young candidates as there have been clamour for the youths to be given a shot at governance.

It is therefore safe for the people to go for the better alternative in PDP in the next general elections and state elections to be held before 2023.

PS: PDP at all levels - national, state, local government and ward must as a matter of urgency put their houses in order by going back to the drawing board to strategize on how to take back their respective domains, especially, the presidency. And to achieve this, I will suggest that they practice transparency in the emergence of their candidates. They must also opt for younger candidates and be interested in grooming them to succeeding. This they must do to lean towards the public clamour for the youths since the APC have opted to practicing gerontocracy.

The Ekiti State of our dream

We look forward to an Ekiti State where things work. Where there's relative peace and harmony. Where our youths live and not just exist. Where our parents enjoy rather than endure life.

An Ekiti State where all and sundry have equal rights and opportunities, their political allegiance notwithstanding. An Ekiti where you can dream and achieve your dreams. An Ekiti where the only hindrances to one's greatness is oneself and not an antagonizing system. An independent and self sufficient Ekiti State, where her monthly allocation goes into savings and reserves.

An Ekiti State which will be an example of what development should be. An Ekiti State which will become the destination of every one far and near for her numerous opportunities. A model state and typical example of GREEN PASTURE.

An Ekiti State whose employment capacity would run to millions. An Ekiti State which will be a potent alternative to traveling out. An Ekiti State which will be a lifeline for the soul of Nigeria. An Ekiti where the value and security of life comes first.

A new Ekiti State is possible. We can achieve more than all these together.

PoliticsWho Says Ikpeazu's Abia Is Not Working? By Olanrewaju Ojuoluwa by SharpmindsAC(op): 1:17pm On Jun 09, 2021
Who says Abia is not working?
O.O. Ojuoluwa

Seun Okinbaloye, the popular anchor of "One-On-One" on Channels TV asked Abia State Governor, Ikpeazu a sincere question; "...can you please in one minute talk about what you have done for the people of Abia State in the last 6 years?"

Governor Ikpeazu's Response:
"Who says that Aba is not working, (ehn), today, in Aba, you have Dominos (an eatery); you have Chicken Republic (another eatery); you have (ehn, ehn, ehn, ehn, Market Place (whatever that is); you even have a cinema in Aba! End of interview.

I remember very vividly that Seun threw this same type of question to Fayose sometimes back in 2018 when Fayose was busy boasting about how Ekiti people have no other option than to vote for his anointed-candidate, Olusola Eleka, and make him (Fayose) the first politician and governor to have a successor from his own party in Nigeria.

In Seun's words, "what have you done (in Ekiti State) for your party to deserve a reelection?"

Fayose's Response:
(Fayose, a man who prides himself as the friend of the masses) stylishly avoided the question and said, "Seun, I don't like this type of question, I am a politician of note, you see, yesterday I was frying garri with some women, let them (APC) also go and fry theirs."

**************************************

To say that they have got nothing to offer is an understatement, this present breed of governors and political leaders are a disaster and perhaps, a punishment from God to chastise us for our gullibility. I make bold to say that the political parties they represent, either APC or PDP are not the problem but the individuals who emerge through the process.

As far as they are concerned, development is all about show-biz. When they call for their pseudo empowerment, it's towards gaining cheap media popularity. They go about executing capital projects basically for an avenue to cart away public funds. I can't remember the last time anyone of them hasn't gone about chasing a white-elephant project, I cannot!

Ikpeazu's response to Seun's honest question is a pointer to the fact that I've always been right when I say, this current breed of politicians cannot and will not do the people any good. Their school of thought is parallel to development and to say the truth, they all are an example of what leaders should not be. No exemption!

The solution, I believe, is to allow for a fresh blood, perhaps someone with a traceable character, who has not dined with them before. Someone who is young and visionary. Also, Nigerians must shun, as a matter of life and death, cooperating with elements that mar the election process such as vote buying/selling. Until then, their story will keep worsening on a daily basis.

Until the will of the people to be free of oppression supercedes the will of the oppressors to keep afflicting them, their story will not change for good.

PoliticsTo Pride In Being The Ruler Of Such A Place As Ours Is An Apology, O.O. Ojuoluwa by SharpmindsAC(op): 8:36am On Jun 07, 2021
APOLOGY
O.O. Ojuoluwa (Sharpminds)

Before now, rulers took responsibility, willingly abdicated their throne, self-exiled or ended their own lives when their performance was awful and/or caught in scandalous webs. - those were days when men were NOBLE"

We are in a mess, such that requires a state of emergency. Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart", though written decades ago, describes more, the present than the past. Perhaps, it is high time we viewed it as being prophetic - the center no longer holding indeed!

To say that Nigeria is a failed State is an understatement. As it stands, Nigeria is nothing short of bitterness, sorrow and sadness. Bitterness, as highlighted by secessionists from virtually every region that makes up the country - the clamour for Oodua, Biafra and Arewa Republics is just a tip of the iceberg; sorrow, personified by day to day trauma citizens are made to go through via inflation, epileptic power supply, insecurity, hunger, fear of the unknown, etc; sadness, by the fact that there is no hope of a better tomorrow. President Olusegun Obasanjo recently reaffirmed this in a statement while commenting on the state of the State at his presidential library in Abeokuta.

To solve our problems, some believe that, changing our current name from Nigeria (a name which was given to us by the Europeans, our colonial masters) to United Africa Republic (UAR), which they argue should have been done since independence, giving that, other European colonies have long since done same, is a place to start from. They further argue that, since everything pertaining to Nigeria has a damaged image, a change of name will also rebrand her and change her global perceptions.

There has never been a time in history that people starve as they do now except during war. Hunger, poverty and starvation boldly written on people's faces that, one must wonder how their conditions retrogressed to such point. It is a state of total confusion. Yes. Imbroglio!

Businesses collapse on a daily basis. Workers' salaries unpaid even when Naira is at its worst devalued state ever. Hopelessness is now the order of the day. Parents are broke, their children stranded. Husbands can hardly meet the basic needs of their wives not to talk of the family as a whole. To make things worse, parents sell children for money, not because they do not love them, but that the rest may survive. In short, nothing is working here. Tuition fees for the various cadre of educational institutions are also scary. To successfully sponsor a child from kindergarten to final year in the university runs into millions of naira, even if such child passes through public schools throughout.

The president's response to all these is to ban the use of social media, starting with Twitter and perhaps have every content (should in case he decides to spare some) vetted by his dogs. I for one believe he should take it a step further and possibly ban the use of smart phones and mobiles and, mandate that every citizen is coerced to use landlines. At least by so doing, he would have successfully taken us back to the Stone age and officially made Nigeria the African version of Kim's North Korea!

Security wise, there has never been a time in our civil lives that life is as valueless as it is now. Before now, we were loving people, brothers and sisters. We looked out for one another and shared in one anothers' pains and joys. Now, love is replaced with hate - hate even among brothers. Care replaced with indifference.

Terrorism, kidnappings, ritual killings, insurgencies, banditry, gruesome killings, police brutalities, etc now characterize our daily living. All across the social media space are displayed on an hourly basis horrible pictures of fatal deaths. Mass burials. Disembowelled pregnant women, with their innocent babies made to feel the sharpness of deadly blades, even at their first exposure to our planet. Senseless enmities, avoidable deaths.

Even though, it has been prophesied that these happenings are the signs of the end time, yet, there are places with relative peace, harmony and joy. This connotes that, our predicaments are self inflicted. Hence, we might have fast tracked our own end time as against the prophecy. We all are guilty. There are no innocent(s)!

Yesteryear seems better than now with no hope of things getting better soon (should the status quo remain). The story of the fellow caught having stolen a pot of amala on fire while the owner went to get other ingredients is touching, yet there are worse! There are cases families drink water to sleep because it is the only available edible substance they could lay hands on.

Those whom the people elect to represent them at various capacities on the other hand keep doing business as usual. They live lives of decadence, have luxuries at their disposal, acquire more wealth at the expense of the people and, manipulate them with crumbs from their loots.

Yet, it is unimaginable that some people pride in being rulers of such a place as ours! It is noble for rulers to preside over the people and their reigns notable for good. Otherwise is however, IGNOBLE. And when it is otherwise, it is still noble when leaders involved take responsibility, leave the throne honourably and/or perhaps willfully take their own lives, as were the times of heroes in time past.

Not this present breed of leaders though, they are not honourable. They are ignoble. They do not have the gut/wit to let go of power even when they obviously fail woefully, even their own household. The more our situations get worsened by their actions and inactions, the more they look for reasons why they are not at fault. They have mastered the art of trading blames. Blame game is their hubby. And because they will not leave willingly, they will be willfully dethroned, and, dishonourably.

What lies ahead? Where do we go from here? Events will unravel no doubt. And sure, the table will turn. When? How? Where? History has it that people do have patterns of behavior which envelope their judgements. On judgement day, events will surely unravel.

Brief about Tosin Ajibare Gold.
"The Rising Sun"

Tosin Ajibare aka Gold is an Energetic Young Politician with a strong grassroot appeal & followership. He has deep rooted tentacles spread across the state & particularly enjoys the support, trust and admiration of the people given his antecedents and genuity.

He has the strongest voice & largest followership in the youth constituency, given his background in youth development organizations & haven led the Ekiti Youth Revolution that saw him contest the 2018 gubernatorial election in which he became an extremely popular & acceptable candidate, despite starting from nigh obscurity & not having a sponsor.

He ended up winning more votes than a whole lot of supposedly established politicians across the state. Also, apart from PDP and APC candidates, he was the only candidate that had votes in each and every of the 16 LGAs of Ekiti State.

To contest the last election, he built a new party from scratch, The Independent Democrats (ID), nurtured it till it was regarded as one of the first five most prominent parties within Ekiti & defended the party from the antics of the ruling party and all other infiltrations/attacks through his exemptional foresight, dexterity and astuteness.

He can simply be described as a Youth leader par excellence & a very promising Politician.

He's generally reffered to as the "face of Ekiti Youths", he is the embodiment of hope in leadership.

He hails from Ikere Ekiti, in Ekiti South Senatorial District, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

PoliticsElectronic Voting - A Solid Solution To Vote Buying, Tosin Ajibare by SharpmindsAC(op): 7:15am On Mar 15, 2021
COM. TOSIN AJIBARE GOLD ON VOTE-BUYING

Vote buying is bad. It is terrible. "Nkan ti'o da'a, 'o da'a - ko l'oruko meji; ko da'a naa ni."

[You see], transactional politics has in no time profited the people in any part of the world. Ko work fun awon e'yan ri -[it's always been at the people's detriment]. It's always been a means of enslavement and always encourages the underdevelopment of the people.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfr9BjMs9Cw

As long as we continue this culture of vote-selling/vote-buying, irrespective of the political party, slavery will continue, underdevelopment will persist. Politicians will keep acting like tin-gods and the populace will remain pawns in the chess of governance. [Also], the good ones will always have limited chances. [In fact,] anyone without a 'deep' pocket will not emerge!

Elections should not be a bazaar. Elections should not be [a platform] for buying and selling, rather, it should be a means whereby the citizens - [the people] and electorates can choose their leaders, their representatives, the representatives they believe represents their interests best and give him/her the mandate of service.

The Yorubas say; "Ila ki n ga ju Onire lo." - "An Okra stem cannot be taller than its plucker". However, by the time you sell your vote, "Ila ti ga ju Onire lo o" - "The Okra stem will definitely be taller than its plucker". This is because, it [the vote] has been bought, so it's beyond just selling a vote, it is giving them (politicians) your voice and everything else, which is why we are where we are at this particular time.

I think there are two ways forward; number one from my own point of view, the people really have to stand up to this one [that is, vote buying] because it's not a one-sided thing. When there's a seller, then, the there's a buyer. Of course, there's poverty in the land - we all know that but it is not an excuse for vote selling. The money [gotten from vote-selling] have never at any point in time raised anybody from the pit of poverty.

So, I think it is a lack of decisiveness from the people, which is one aspect the people are lagging behind. They have to be decided that, this is what we want.

And secondly, on the part of the government - the political class, we all know that the whole essence of this [vote buying] is to subjugate the people's will. But, one way I believe can actually help is by going for electronic voting. This will limit the link between the people and the candidates on the day of election. This will afford people the opportunity to vote directly without interference from party agents at the polling booths.

Well, these are my opinions. Vote buying/selling is bad, and we have to stop it. It will not stop on its own, we have [a responsibility] to stop it.

DIFFICULTY IN FINDING PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO ADO-EKITI; A CALL FOR URGENT INTERVENTION
[I]By Ojuoluwa Olabode[/i]

It's an embarrassment to pride in being the governor of a failed State like Ekiti. Shame on Kayode Fayemi, Ayo Fayose, Segun Oni, Adeniyi Adebayo and company who have been behind the wheel of the state since the start of this democratic dispensation in 1999.

In fact, shame on all those who have been members of cabinets of these unscrupulous elements! How can it be so difficult to find public transport to Ado-Ekiti from major cities in Nigeria.

I mean, to find a vehicle going to Ekiti, at least 100 to 150 buses going to other 'significant' places would have passed before one sees a God-forsaken-wretched bus going to Ado-Ekiti, a whole state capital.

It's obvious that this is so because nothing significant is happening there; because we are nothing economically, yet the sitting governor is dreaming of becoming president - what a display of malady!

Go to the 'popular' Bisi market in Ado-Ekiti and see for yourself. The goods in there are super expensive because the traders have to go through exorbitant cost to transport them down from Lagos or anywhere else. Moreover, the value of all of the goods in the whole market put together are most likely what a single trader controls in Ogunpa marker, Ibadan.

What will it take for you all to make Ekiti State an economically viable State? Isn't it embarrassing enough that our sons and daughters have to wait hours on the road before they find transportation to their dear State while other commuters find theirs easily.

I'm passionately angry with all of you - mere position occupants who have no other mission than to make worse our situation as a people. So far, only Segun Oni did something relatively reasonable about this as there was an Ekiti transportation line during his tenure. I can remember very vividly as a student of the University of Jos then, how I used to board buses from Ado-Ekiti to Jos direct during his regime. However, he made errors in other sectors and even the so called transportation project was short-lived because of lack of vision towards the tail end of his ousting.

There's the need for a government that will be conscious about development of not just the state but the people. I say this because if there's is an intentional government that wants a state that works and the prosperity of her people, then private business owners can establish transportation companies like the easterners do and, emphatically successful.

I am marketing the Golden son again, Tosin Ajibare and I'm unrepentantly supporting him for the race come 2022 because there's no better candidate than a resourceful, young articulate mind in him. Going for him is going for a man who is intentional about development of not just the state, but her people as human capital development remains the Pilar of his developmental agenda.

It is expedient to note that we as kingdom youths must strive to match the forces of darkness and surpass them. Our light must shine to the point that it draws others into God's kingdom.

Therefore, we all are enjoined to pray, plan and prepare for the upcoming programme. Also rather than being dragged, we should be the ones drafting others for the programme and into the kingdom proper. This implies that, we do all in our capacity to ensure there is an ingathering of multitudes for that programme.

Finally, attached with this memo is the e-flyer for the programme. We are to use it for publicity on our social media handles individually using #LoveMakesTheDifference. Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are tools to ensure many who are seeking where to go will come around. Subsequently, in the days ahead, lots of information and updates will be coming in.

PoliticsEmbrace The Spirit Of Christmas, Ekiti PDP Youths Tell Leaders by SharpmindsAC(op): 7:46am On Dec 25, 2020
Embrace the Spirit of Christmas, Ekiti PDP Youths tell leaders.

Olanrewaju Ojuoluwa
Ado-Ekiti
24th December, 2020

The Conference of PDP Youths, Ekiti State, has admonished their leaders to embrace the spirit of Christmas and sheath their sword for the Progress of the party.

Christmas is all about salvation, sacrifice and redemption, it is about giving "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son...". In God's infinite mercy to save mankind, he gave his only begotten son, Jesus, showing us that nothing is too big to give for redemption. The gift of God to man marks the redeemed life we all have today.

As we are celebrating Christmas, we implore our leaders to gift our party the opportunity of victory in the coming polls by cessation of all in-house hostilities. The biggest gift our leaders can give PDP members this season is a united house as a house divided against itself cannot stand. As our leaders share items to party faithfuls, they must also share love, peace & unity.

We also implore followers of our leaders, most especially on social media to tone down their hostilities and remember that we all irrespective of affiliated factions belong to one big family. A family that must not & will not be allowed to break. We all must embrace peace and unity in order to progress & henceforth desist from acts akin to pulling down our own house.

In a joint press statement duly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Youth Group, Hon. Tosin Ajibare and Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun remarked that the fight and bickering has gone on for too long, 2022 is almost upon us, we cannot and must not continue like this. We must unite in order to take over governance from the APC Government. it is evident that the people of Ekiti are clamouring for the return of our party PDP, but if we continue on this trajectory, then we definitely are preparing for a loss, which invariably will be a case of an own goal born out of disunity. This must not & will not be allowed to happen, Our victory in the coming 2022 Guber polls starts from within the house & it starts now.

In the same vein, on behalf of the entire members of the PDP Youth constituency, we wish all PDP Members & Leaders across the State & Nation at large, a Merry Christmas and a prosperous Happy New Year new year in advance, most especially our distinguished, Leading & ever Vibrant Leaders, His Excellency Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose and The most Distinguished Senator, Biodun Olujimi, May joy, love and peace firmly rest upon you & your family all this Christmas season & May the magic and blessings of Christmas be yours this year & always.

We love you all & cherish this great family.
