udatso:
عين dual plural is عينان so when it is merged with a ضمير النصب والجو. و is and the اسم is مجرور it changed to عينيّ
This only deepens the possessiveness of the root word 'eye' or 'hand'. In fact, that is why some translators translate يَدَيَّ as "'own' hands" because of the deepening of the possessiveness of the root word.

Trying to establish "dual plural" from عينيّ or يَدَيَّ can lead to the mistake of preconceived defaults as the humans that we are. You see, our languages are shaped by these defaults. So when I say my hands, it is understood, based on these defaults for humans, that two hands are meant.

Things change immediately when the Being being addressed is Allah Almighty. Preconceived defaults don't apply to Him. Therefore they can not be employed in analysing words that relate to Him.

So a numerical value of "two" can only be deduced from the quoted verse only if we apply a preconceived default for humans to Allah. And this is not allowed because our knowledge can not encompass anything about Him. Quran 20 110.

Good to see the veiled acceptance in your last paragraph and AbdelKabir's refrainment from mentioning "two" in his later submission.

Did you also notice that of the seven translations linked to by AbdelKabir, only two give a notion of numbers? 2 is a minority out of 7. That means the majority of the scholars agree against deducing "two" from the verse.

You can delight yourselves in whatever permutations you want but no amount of your gymnastics with arabic can show that "two" is mentioned in the verse. That is very important.

You cannot make your interpretation (which could be subjective) into a translation.

@udatso
How does replacing 'hand' with 'eye' prove your point?

Be rest assured that I understand the particulars of that word, yad (hand), in arabic. So I am not gonna address your mocks or jibes.

Yad - hand

Yadayn - two hands (objective)
Yadani - possessive of yadayn

Yadiy - hands (objective)
Yadayya - possessive of yadiy

No where in the verse are the versions that indicate a specific numerical unit (yadayn or yadani) used in the verse.

Yad - hand
Yadayn - two hands (not used in the verse)
Yadiy - hands (as used in the verse)

Thanks for admitting that "two hands" is not mentioned in the verse. Rather, that is your own deliberate translation based on your understanding of the arabic language.

So dear muslims beware! This is AbdelKabir's newly found translation for the ayat.

It will be nice if you can give me an evidence about a muslim who greeted based upon the felicity of Friday and got rebuked for it from among the salaf salihin, that would be a proof. In the absence of that, the prophet, sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam, declaring Friday Eid day and the hadith of Abu Darda, radiyAllahu anh, above suffice.

The story was narrated during a jumat service by the imam (to tell you how convinced he is).

He said when the shaykh arrived that town in the olden days Islam was very weak there, or you could say non existent. Whereas christianity was everywhere with the able support of the missionaries. He travelled back to the town of his own shaykh and relayed the situation to him. He was probably anticipating to get a powerful zikr from his shaykh to advance his work of spreading Islam there but that didn't happen. However upon his subsequent travels to his shaykh, his shaykh gave him some okra seeds to plant in his farm. It is related that the people of that town love okra soup. Also I want to believe that the okra seeds have received special intervention zikr because it was narrated that the seeds grow so beautifully into okra that it became the talk of the town. Everybody wanted to make okro soup from the farm of that shaykh and being a generous man he obliged people to take okro from his farm as much as they liked.

The imam concluded that there was no one who tasted from the okro except that he ended up pronouncing the kalima and becoming muslim and transmitting the faith to his progenies.

Once heard an anecdote about, most probably, this town. I can't remember vividly exact name of town but I do remember it is along that oyo-ogbomosho-ilorin axis. The main crunch of the story is about how the town used to be predominantly christian back in time. But with the influence of one shaykh the town became now a predominantly muslim population.

Does this story ring a bell @ikupakuti? Would love to narrate the story (which I can still remember) in full if the town is confirmed to be this 'iwo'.

AbuHammaad:
The early generation did not congratulate one another on Fridays, so we should not introduce anything that they did not do.
That is not a proof.

The prophet, sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam, never said what me and my sahaba, radiyAllahu anhum, did not do is an "introduced" thing (bid'a). That is an erroneous understanding of what constitutes bid'a.

How can the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, declare a day as a day of 'festival' and someone is trying to declare the main substance of it, the greeting of festivity bid'a? This is a clear deficiency in understanding what constitutes bid'a and trying to make the deen look contradictory in its composition.

Abu Darda (RA) narrates that the Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasalam) said: whatever Allaah has permitted in his book is halaal, whatever he has forbidden is haraam, and anything over which there is silence is pardoned, so accept the pardon of Allaah, for Allaah cannot be forgetful. Then he recited this verse: "and your Lord is never forgetful".

The act of greeting one another on the day of Juma'ah is well accomodated in the above hadith and conforms to practices encouraged on the days of festivities.

AbuHammaad:
If anyone suggests that this is permissible (sayin jumuah mubarak), then that may imply that it is prescribed to say du‘aa’s and congratulate one another after having done the five daily prayers and other acts of worship, and du‘aa’ at these times was not done by the early generations.
...Do repent to Allah for your sins and supplicate with raised hands at the times of prayer as these are the best times, during which Allah Almighty looks at His servants with mercy. Allah Answers if they supplicate, Responds if they call, Grants if He is asked, and Accepts if they entreat. O people! you have made your conscience the slave of your desires.

- Al-Hafith Ibn Hajr Al-’Asqalani, Bulugh Al-Maram.

Rashduct4luv:
Evidence is required of the one who claims that something is prescribed in Islam, otherwise the basic principle with regard to acts of worship is that they are not allowed unless there is proven evidence that they are prescribed. Based on this, the evidence that this belief is not prescribed is the fact that there is no evidence to suggest that it is permitted.
Rashduct4luv:
Khulwa is unlawful since it makes the male miss Salah in congregation!
This is a resort to logical reasoning and is therefore not a proof. But nothing stops a khalwati from attending the congregational prayer, ok. And the ahadith you quoted did not prohibit khalwa. When the prophet, saw, was making khalwa was he sinning? If he wasn't, which I believe he wasn't, then it is a good practice (but left to the capability of the practitioner). If he was, may Allah forbid, then you know where that line of reasoning leads you.

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'No people gather in a house from the houses of Allah (the mosques), reciting the Qur`an and studying it amongst themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy envelopes them, the angels surround them and Allah mentions them to those in His presence' [recorded by Muslim and Abu Dawud with an authentic ascription according to the criteria laid down by Bukhari and Muslim].

Holy Quran 6 91

Say, "Allah" and leave them in their headlessness.

The prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, frequented the cave Hira for halwa and meditation and then the entire Islam was granted him.

Performing the Aqeeqoh (Naming and sacrifice) on the 8th day after birth!
It was narrated from Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allaah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every child is in pledge for his ‘Aqeeqah, which should be slaughtered on his behalf on the seventh day, and he should be shaved and given a name.” Recorded by Abu Dawood.

Buraydah narrated that the Prophet () said, “The Aqeeqah is to be slaughtered on the 7th or the 14th or the 21st.”Recorded by Bayhaqi.

The name can be given immediately though.

It is also reported in a hadith that the Prophet (SAW) said (at the time of the birth of his son Ibraheem), ‘last night a son was born to me, and I have named him Ibraheem after my grandfather, Ibraheem (AS)’. (Muslim).

Therefore, since other rites are performed on the seventh, people tend to generally wait till the seventh day to give the name as well which is also supported by the hadith, just to mention.

Nice read!.

In reality Europe is ditching the salafi/wahabi movement and embracing the true Islam of Ahl Sunna wal Jama'ah based on the fiqh of the four aimma. Their people are very interested in the ways of the pious elders of the deen which are strongly rooted in sufism. Institutes teaching classical Islamic tradition are being opened left right and center. There is a desirous push toward spiritual upliftment of their societies. They are finding this in the legacies of Islam's spiritual masters. Qadiri, Naqshbandi, Tijanni etc spiritual orders are becoming more and more entrenched in european societies nowadays.

However, it is their governments, especially the British plus the Saudi royals, who, back in time, helped strengthen the salafi/wahabi movement, in order to completely obliterate whatever was left of the Ottoman empire. Now the fruits of this radicalism and its attendent tendency to spin off into terrorrism is hitting them in the face as they are now part of the direct victims of offshoots of this movement.

IslamRe: How Quran Errors Are Explained Away by shawl:
The holy Qur'an is a book of deep insight. If you follow it superficially, you are very likely to deceive yourself while thinking that you are in the right.

To start with, type "setting of sun in arabic" on google. What do you find?

"wade shams"

Is that what was used in the holy Qur'an?

"No"

Now type "setting of the sun in arabic" on google. What do you find?

"garabu shams"

Is that what was used in the holy Qur'an?

"Yes"

What is the difference between the two?

In order to answer that, first type "west in arabic" on google:

Answer: "gharb"

Therefore, the former describes the action of the setting of the sun while the latter describes the place or direction where the sun sets. 'Direction' here is more appropriate since the verse, holy Qur'an 18:86, up to that point was talking about the movement of 'Dhul Qarnayn'. So 'Dhul Qarnayn' was moving 'west' which is the direction where the sun sets as confirmed from google above.

Now further down the verse, it is mentioned, and this is where it becomes interesting, "he FOUND it setting in a miry spring, or spring of dark mud".

The holy Qur'an in its eternal wisdom captured the vision of the looker at that point in time with the capitalized: FOUND.

How else do you describe the vision of someone who had travelled to a point that he reached the far limit towards the West beyond which there was no further populated area at the time of sunset probably at the outset of a sea or an ocean?.

The quoted hadith

The hadith cannot be used as a solid evidence in this matter because the hadith has been declared "anomalous" and "unreliable" in the face of glaring evidences.

Please check out the link below to see full discussion on the hadith, you will understand why.

http://www.letmeturnthetables.com/2012/09/weak-hadith-sun-spring-warm-water.html

The logic pursued

The logic you were pursuing would have made alot more sense if surprisingly we found from your bible that the "sun only appears to set in a muddy spring" to an observer looking at the sea at sunset. All the verses you quoted from your book are not relevant to the logic you were building up. And as far as I know, there is no where in your bible where the direction of movement of the sun (east to west) is mentioned. Mind you that is less than the holy Qur'an has provided. So what is your point really?

When I reply here on NL, it is usually not to take on people of your leaning because I know that most of the people under this influence find it very difficult to reason beyond their restricted scope but I do so in order to sensitize other muslims about a looming danger.

One such mistake people of your leaning make in deducing sunna and bid'a is explained in the earlier hadith quoted.

Then he recited this verse: ‘and your Lord is never forgetful’.

The disposition with respect to the matter under discussion now should have been:

It cannot be declared bid'a since the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, and any of his sahaba, radiyAllahu anhum, did not declare it to be bid'a. Moreover, since the phrase is used in the Quran in a generic sense, according to the tafsir earlier sighted, then it is a permitted act for the one who affirms it, at any point whatever. Then you will see that everything aligns perfectly with the Quran, hadith, proper reasoning etc. Come to think of it, it is a phrase that affirms the absolute truth in the Word of Allah. How can anyone attempt to restrict its use? That's bizarre!

The brother made the statement without any proof. You followed him headlong. How convenient to call others blind followers when it is your trademark.

I actually commended @Empiree for sporting it and he had refutted that statement with specific examples: saying "radiyAllahu anh" etc.

Here is another example.

Sayyidina Rifaa Ibn Rafi Az zukuri, radiyAllahu anh, when the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, was leading the maghrib prayer, and he, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, was saying, sami Allahu liman hamida, the sahaba, radiyAllahu anh, was saying, rabbanaa lakal hamd, hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan.

After the namaz, the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, asked who said that, that is, the extra words 'hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan', and the
sahaba, radiyAllahu anh, said I said it, then the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, said that the angels were competing to write down reward for him,
for the way he had prayed to Allah.

Why didn't the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, reprimand him for making extra 'zikr' because he has violated, according to you and your people, an act of legislation that only Allah has the right to.

You're always typing rubbish, so because they're warning you against an innovation which you are yet to produce an evidence for, you term them Boko-are-rams.

When you are replied in the same way, you shout we're intolerant and violent! I'm really saddened at how you reason!
I repeat that your shaykh has erred in restricting the affirmation of the truthfulness of the Word of Allah. And you are in error too for following him. This is because that declaration by your shaykh is tantamount to placing doubt on the Word of Allah because the Word of Allah is truthful at all point in time. If you are to go against it whenever this truthfulness of the word of Allah is affirmed, then you have doubted the Word of Allah and you know the consequences of that already. This is clear as daylight. So how is this conclusion "rubbish"?

I didn't call anybody "Boko-are-rams" so far. I don't know where you got that from my post. But truth is, you are on a path that will soon lead you to causing fitna among muslims because of your lopsided understanding of what sunna and bid'a are.

Your shaykh said:

The âyah “Say: Allâh has spoken the truth" does not mean that these words should be said at the end of any reading or recitation. If that were the case, He would have said, “When you finish reading, say ‘Allâh has spoken the truth,’” just as He said; “So when you want to recite the Qur’ân, seek refuge with Allâh from Shaytân the outcast (the cursed one).”

In that case it becomes compulsory to say "sadaqa Allahu..." at the end of the recitation, just as it is to seek refuge against the shaytan at the beginning of recitation of the Quran.

But nobody has said it is compulsory to say "sadaqa Allahu..." at the end of the recitation. This is where you and your shaykh are getting it wrong. You people are only willing to accept the saying of "sadaqa Allahu..." if it is commanded. Well how absurd. But turning around and declaring it bid'a is an error because not all acts of worship are tagged commanded in the Quran. Many aspects of worship that relates to nafl, dua, zikr etc have been left to the capability and willingness of the practitioner. Calling them bid'a is in itself bid'a because that is what the prohpet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, and his sahaba, radiyAllahu anhum, did not do. Why not provide evidence from the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, or his sahaba, radiyAllahu anhum etc where someone was reprimanded for saying "sadaqa Allahu..." as a definite proof? But you will never be able to do that yet claiming superior argument based on an erroneous rule you and your shaykh have set out for weighing sunna and bid'a actions. Moreover, this phrase is actually written in the Quran and used in a generic form by the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, so why should using it that way be declared "bid'a". The people behind this are clandestinely placing doubt on the Quran, or causing the muslims to do so as well, and Allah will reward them accordingly.

It comes in a hadith:

Abu Darda (RA) narrates that the Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasalam) said: Whatever Allaah has permitted in His Book is halaal, whatever He has forbidden is haraam, and anything over which there is silence is pardoned, so accept the pardon of Allaah, for Allaah cannot be forgetful. Then he recited this verse: ‘and your Lord is never forgetful’.

- Haythami.

This clearly shows that some actions will be done which will be permitted as long as they have basis in the religion. This particular phrase has been used in the holy Qur'an and someone has the gut to declare it bid'a? Moreso it is a phrase that points to the truthfulness of the Word of Allah, at all times? And you backing such declarations? I pity your affair bro.

Yes, salafism has brought nothing but fitna upon Islam and muslms, whereas, our sufi mashayikh had taken Islam to heights your salafist can only dream of. Go and read the conquest of Constantinople as suggested earlier and trace the spiritual lineage of Shaykh Edebali - Hajji Bayram - Shaykh Aq Shamsuddin and how they nurtured the Ottoman Empire to maturity. Then compare that to the divisive works of Muhammad Abdoh, Rachid Rida, Albani, and the Saudi Shuyukhs that followed their path and how they helped throw Islam into disarray now.
