lexiconkabir:Before I continue, the name of the sahaba is Uthman bin Hunaif (hunayf), radiyAllahu anh. But please why did you change it to Uthman bin Haneef? I need to get the reason for that for us to be on the same page. Thanks. |
transient123:Yes, there are intercessors my brother. lexiconkabir:The waseela of the prophet subsists when he is in this world, in al barzakh, and in the hereafter, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam. It comes in the Holy Qur'an: And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds. Surat Al-'Anbya' (21:107) Note: 'aalameen (more than two worlds) instead of 'aalamayn (two worlds) is used in this ayat. Thus the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, has been a mercy on to us in the world that we were before creation, in this world and in the hereafter. And since this world is still in existence, then his being a mercy from Allahu ta'ala on to us continues to subsist. From hadith: Translation: Imam Tabrani has narrated an incident that a person repeatedly visited Uthman bin Affan (ra) concerning something he needed but Uthman paid no attention to him. The man went to Uthman bin Hunaif (ra), the same sahaba who witnessed the first event when the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, was alive in this world and complained to him about the matter- [Note: this was after the death of the Prophet and after the caliphates of Abu Bakr and Umar ] so Uthman bin Hunaif said : Go to the place of Wudu, then come to the Masjid, perform two Rak'ats and then say : O Allah!, I ask you and turn to you through our Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad! I turn through you to my lord, that He fulfil my need and mention your need. Then come so that I can go with you [to the caliph Uthman] So the man left and did as he had been told, then went to the door of Uthman ibn Affan (Allah be pleased with him), and the doorman came, took him by the hand, brought him to Uthman ibn Affan, and seated him next to him on a cushion. 'Uthman asked, "What do you need?" and the man mentioned what he wanted, and Uthman accomplished it for him ...(till the end of hadith) References: Imam al-Mundhiri (rah) brought this under "SALAT AL HAJAH" and said: Imam Tabarani after narrating it said "THIS HADITH IS SAHIH" [At-Targheeb wa Tarheeb, Page No. 129 in the chapter of Salaat al Hajah] Imam Tabrani Book : Ma'jam As Sagheer Volume : 1 Page : 306-307 Hadith number : 508 Note: Imam Tabrani, after narrating the hadith usually doesn't say anything but in this case he specifically says it is "Sahih" Imam Tabrani Book : Ma'jam Al Kabeer Volume : 9 page : 17-19 Hadith number : 8311 Imam al-Haythami (rah) brought this under "SALAT AL HAJAH" also accepted the authentication of Imam Tabrani in his Majma az Zawaid Volume No. 2, Hadith # 3668 Imam Bayhaqi Book : Dalail An nubuwwah Volume : 6 Page : 167-168 Imam Taqi ud Din Subki brought this under the chapter: "AFTER PASSING AWAY OF PROPHET" and also quotes Imam Bayhaqi in the end, Book : Shia As Siqam Volume : 1 Page : 370-372 Ibn Taymiyyah declared it "SAHIH" in his Qa'ida al Jaleela fit Tawassul wal Waseela (Page No. 156) From tafsir Ibn Katheer: Translation: Jama'at (Many scholars) have stated this tradition. One of them is Abu Mansur al-Sabbagh who writes in his book Al-Shamil Al-Hikayat-ul-mashhurah that, according to Utbi, once he was sitting beside the Prophets grave when a bedouin came and he said, Peace be on you, O Allahs Messenger. I have heard that Allah says: (O beloved!) And if they had come to you, when they had wronged their souls, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and the Messenger also had asked forgiveness for them, they (on the basis of this means and intercession) would have surely found Allah the Granter of repentance, extremely Merciful. I have come to you, asking forgiveness for my sins and I make you as my intermediary before my Lord and I have come to you for this purpose. Then he recited these verses: O, the most exalted among the buried people who improved the worth of the plains and the hillocks! May I sacrifice my life for this grave which is made radiant by you, (the Prophet,) the one who is (an embodiment) of mercy and forgiveness. Then the bedouin went away and I fell asleep. In my dream I saw the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). He said to me: O Utbi, the bedouin is right, go and give him the good news that Allah has forgiven his sins. lexiconkabir:And it is your words against the hadith too. The Hadith states: It was narrated from 'Uthman bin Hunaif that a blind man came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and said: "Pray to Allah to heal me." He said: "If you wish to store your reward for the Hereafter, that is better, or if you wish, I will supplicate for you." He said: "Supplicate." So he told him to perform ablution and do it well, to pray two Rak'ah, and to say this supplication: "Allahumma lnni as'aluka wa atawajjahu ilaika bimuhammadin nabiyyir-rahma. Ya Muhammadu inni qad tawajjahtu bika ila rabbi fi hajati hadhihi lituqda. Allahumma fashaffihu fiya (O Allah, I ask of You and I turn my face towards You by virtue of the intercession of Muhammad the Prophet of mercy. O Muhammad, I have turned to my Lord by virtue of your intercession concerning this need of mine so that it may be met. O Allah, accept his intercession concerning me)". References Ibn Majah transmitted it in his Sunan, book of Iqamat al-salat wa al-sunnat (establishing prayer and its sunnahs)[Page 197, Hadith No#1385) In Sunnan Ibn Majah then it says: Imam Abu Ishaaq (rah) said: This hadith is "SAHIH" Tirmidhi in al-Jami-us-sahih, book of daawat (supplications) ch.119 (5:569#3578) where he declared it "HASAN SAHIH GHARIB" Nasa'i, Amal-ul-yawm wal-laylah (p.417#658-659) Ahmad bin Hambal in his Musnad (4:138 #17246-17247) Hakim, al-Mustadrak (1:313,519) where he declared it "SAHIH" Imam Bukhari, Book : Tareekh Ul Kabeer Volume : 6 page : 209 Biography number : 2192 Abd Bin Humaid Book : Al Musnad Volume : 1 Page : 308 Hadith number : 379 Ibn e Khuzimah, Book: Sahi Ibn e Khuzimah Chapter : Salat At Targheeb Wat Tarheeb (527) Volume : 2 Page : 225 Hadith number : 1219 |
lexiconkabir:Well it is your word against the Holy Qur'an: We sent not the Messenger, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come to the Messenger and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had (also) asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful.(Al-Qur'an, Surah an-Nisa, 4:64) 0 those who believe, fear Allah and seek the wasilah (means) of nearness to Him ... lexiconkabir:The context was set: "Reasons why you should not celebrate maulud...", then you brought the quotation from imam Malik, rahmatUllahi alayh. So I replied you with the context in view. Or were you quoting out of context? |
In fact, it can be argued from the holy Qur'an that celebrating mawlud should be deemed an act that is at least permitted, mubah. This is because if you carry out an act that expresses love or shows respect (or compassion) toward something that is regarded as something from among the symbols of Allah, then this show of love, respect, compassion etc is an indication of deep level of piety in the heart of such a person. Qur'an 22:32 ...if one observes the sanctity of the symbols of Allah, then such things emanate from the piety of the hearts. ...It means that respect for the Symbols of Allah is an evidence of the piety of heart, which indicates that the symbols of Allah are respected by the one who has taqwa (fear of Allah) in his heart and that taqwa is a quality which rests in one's heart... Tafsir (Ma'ariful Qur'an) Also it can be submitted that among the sha'airAllah, the coming of the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, is the most prominent. It is the moment the heart that is going to carry the message of Islam was delivered to the world. All other sha'airAllah became known to us through him, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. It is mentioned in the Qur'an: O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner. 33:45 He, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, said in a hadith: The Hour and I have been sent as close together as these two (his two fingers, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam). Sunan An-Nasa’i 1578 Now, this very important landmark for the entire humanity comes around only once in a year and some people are saying that it should not elicit any kind of reaction whatsoever from the entire muslim ummah? We should just keep mum like not a fly passed by? For those who say the sahaba i kiram, radiyAllahu anh, did not celebrate mawlud, they should recall that the sahaba i kiram, radiyAllahu anhum, on a daily basis, showed personal connections to the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, out of respect and honor and that is besides what the religion has obligated upon them. They would kiss his hand, catch his spit etc. Were those actions recommended acts of worship? Of course, no. They did it out of love, respect and honor for him, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. However, us later muslims do not have this opportunity to connect to the personality of the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, like the sahaba, radiyAllahu anhum, had. Mawlud nabiyy offers that opportunity my dear brothers. Imam Malik, rahmatUllahi alayh, is said to have rejected maulud nabiyy as quoted by @lexiconkabir. Imaam Maalik said: "The last generations of this ummah can only be rectified by that which rectified its first generations. What was not part of the religion then cannot become part of the religion now" We ask: Where do they get this statement from if maulud nabiyy is meant to have been a sixth or seventh century innovation? |

lexiconkabir:Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah radiallahu anhu says, 'Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam came out to us saying 'Why is it that I see you raising your hands as though they are the tails of obstinate horses? Remain calm in salâh.' Ahmad 20450 & 20522, Muslim 430, Abu Dawood 1000 and Nasai 1184 Imam Abu Hanifa, rahmatUllahi alayhi, a reknowned scholar of his a time and a tabi (a successor), has said if something is from the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, then it is upon our head and our eyes... As this is a statement of RasulUllah, saw, then it is clear that we are only meant to raise our hands once at the beginning of salah and not within it. Also: Alqamah reports that Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud radiAllahu anh said, 'Should I not lead you in salâh in the manner of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam?' He then prayed and did not raise his hands except in the beginning. Imam Abu Hanifah as recorded in Jam'i al Masaneed 1/355. Also reported by Ibn Abi Shaibah in his al Musannaf 2441 as well as his Musnad 323; Ahmad 3672, Abu Dawood 748, Tirmidhi 257; Nasai in al Mujtaba 1058 and also in al Sunan al Kubra 645 & 1099; Abu Ya'laa 5040 & 5302, and Baihaqi 2531. Ibn Hazam 2/ 264, Ibn al Turkumani 2/113 and Imam Nimawi 402 have all declared the hadeeth saheeh. Imam Abu Hanifa, ra, also said, along the same line as above, that when a matter is differing from among the sahaba, rad, then we pick and choose from among them ... So in terms of eminence from among the sahaba, rad., Abdullahi Ibn Mas'ud, rad, is a very eminent sahaba and has direct ijaza from the prophet, saw, to deliberate on religious matters whereas Abdullah Ibn Umar, radiAllahu anh, was a junior sahaba, rad, (With all due respect to him), does not have that ranking. So better to stick with the positions that comes from a more eminent sahaba. |
HAH:Unfortunately, it has eaten deep especially up north. It is now that some people are retracing their steps. Many went under the ideology with sincerity to serve Islam though, only realizing their mistakes when they are already neck deep. Alot of systemic work need to be done in order to set people aright again. |

lexiconkabir:How can you tell me that "Alcohol is impermissible if and only if the consumer has the intention of drinking it, anything other than that, is permissible", then turn around to tell me that I sinned for assisting my non muslim neighbour get a bottle of alcohol which he used for a purpose besides drinking. Can't you see that you are by now shifting the goal post by claiming that the producers intent for producing for drinking makes my logistic assist for my neighbor sinful. This contradicts your quoted statement. I put it to you that your submissions don't add up and is capable of misguiding your readers. So if Allahu ta'ala calls it a defilement, uncleanness, etc from among the works of shaytan and warned us to keep away from it and the holy prophet, saw, told us of its effect on our prayer for 40 days and the eminent scholars of the deen who preceded the people you quoted, have said that that is because it takes that long for the last contaminatory molecules of the taken alcohol to exit our body system, then are these not enough evidences to "indicate" or "suggest" (as you and the people you are quoting claim) that alcohol is an impurity? Also, is the holy prophet's statement that the one who dies in the habit of drinking alcohol will be made to drink from the worst of all impurities from jahannam also not a pointer to it that alcohol is considered impure? |
lexiconkabir:Scholars have explained that the hadith about the non acceptance of your salah for forty days if you took alcohol is because it is najis and it takes the body that long for it to completely get rid of the alcohol from your body system. (imam Suyuti, ibn Qayyim) Therefore this hadith and the schorlarly explanations can serve as bases to realize the status of alcohol as najis. lexiconkabir:What you have above is hadith too. lexiconkabir:But that did not stop you from generalizing to say that only consumption of alcohol is sinful starkly against the hadith of the holy prophet, saw. If my non muslim neighbor called me on my way home to ask me to get him a bottle of alcohol and I confirmed from him that he was not going to drink it but will be used to 'wash his newly bought car', as some people do here, is it be permissible for me go get it for him? |
lexiconkabir:Yes it is and your salah is invalid if it is on you because the prophet, saw, prohibited us from coming into contact with it. Moreover, something does not have to be najis for it to invalidate salah. For example passing wind invalidates salah but passing wind itself is not najis, if it was, we would have been required to go for taharat before renewing our ablution. Also, some of the scholars who seek permissibility of using alcohol based perfume say so on the understanding that besides the alcoholic content being small in the perfume, this quantity does not really end up touching you because the alcoholic content evaporates as it is fired through the diffuser of the pressurized container. They did not seek the permissibility based on that the alcohol can be left on you or your cloth. lexiconkabir:The prophet, saw, has cursed ten people involved in alcohol: The one who squeezes (the grapes etc), the one for whom it is squeezed, the one who drinks it, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who pours it, the one who sells it and consumes its price, the one who buys it and the one for whom it is bought. It is obvious that these people have been cursed by the prophet, saw, irrespective of whether their intention is to drink it or not. Moreover, I also see the universal applicability of this hadith over all ages. For example, it is applicable to the present day situation: the producers can be likened to the modern day breweries, the carriers the modern day logistics, the buyers and sellers and profiteers to the modern day bear parlours, club houses etc where money exchange hands in alcoholic sales and profits among the patroziners. However you only chose to see 'drinking' as the only intention for which involvement in alcohol is sinful. By your declaration lexiconkabir:You have inadvertently opened the door to all kinds of sinful involvement with alcohol. For example, it can be extrapolated from your conclusion that a muslim can setup a brewery if his only intentions is to make profit and not consume alcohol. A muslim can work in a brewery, sell alcohol, or profit from its logistics as far as his intention is not to drink from the alcohol. Well it is your words against the holy prophet's, saw. |
shawl:And this is irrespective of the amount of alcoholic content in the perfume. Take note. |
lexiconkabir:Yes it does. As far as you are aware it is on you before entering into salah and there is no darura constraining it on you. This is because alcoholic consumption as well as its handling is prohibited. lexiconkabir:The messenger of Allah, saw, knew that the people who handle intoxicants do not get intoxicated by it, yet he has prohibited us from handling it. lexiconkabir:I am sorry if you are offended by that. But that is the reality of Islam and muslims today. |
lexiconkabir:That is warranted by a condition, darurat. It is not an intentional coming into contact with it. I am sure you are well aware of the ahadith prohibiting consumption as well as coming into contact with it. But I can see you are given to argument. It is the disease of the age. |
lexiconkabir:Not only is the consumption of alcohol is forbidden but also coming into contact with it. I assume you know that already if indeed you had confidence to give judgement about alcohol in the first place. |
