For a long time I have a become passive reader on NL not wanting to contribute because of a large swathe of contributors whose only aim it seems is to be able to change and deflect the narratives of any threads. I don't know to what end. E tire me no be small.

I know there are concerned people somewhere who realize this as well and may just shock NL with a better platform if NL does not sit up. There is too much derailment on NL to be able to pick out the facts because of no standards.

This is good news. I must commend Buhari for this one. Suddenly, our weak and demoralized Army are looking stronger and highly motivated. The Nigerian Navy is now involved in real service for the first time in history. The Air Force has done a wonderful job in Sambisa and the whole of North East. The DSS is on top o their game for the first time in a long time. The police force is being increased in quantity and will definitely increase in capability too. Our defense forces is still way behind but I am certain that Buhari will upgrade them to a level that they will be able to fight off internal threats like BH, ND Militants, IPOB and Fulani Herdsmen.

Pat can not only get your driver license out in a timely manner but can also ensures that all your vehicle documents are legit. Many people get handed all kind of stuff as vehicle papers from people they trust them with, e.g. the second hand vendor, their mechanic or their driver and some of those return them with mostly fake documents, but Pat will ensure that each one of your documents is legit by helping you verify them one after another with the appropriate vehicle department and obtain only legit documents for your car.

The prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, said 'fast'.

Make fasting your habit. It will eventually burn out the desires. At first, it will be difficult as evil desires tend to fight back but eventually persistency in fasting will burn out the desires.

Other blessings of fasting you will be surprised is that it makes things kind of work out your way and silently transforms you into a holy individual even if you did not set out to be one ab initio.

Secondly, the Prophet must have sanctioned the other foods since it was done while he was still alive...So, the substitute items used by the companions were sanctioned by the Prophet and they were all food items.
You can not pass this off as a statement of fact when you do not have a proof to back it up. Because it could also be as well that substituting date and barely with other items of value was permitted by the prophet, saw, silently. Moreover this position can be further reinforced by the hadith of recorded by DarQutni "Fulfil their need on this day (i.e. the day of `Eid)".

webincomeplus:
The rigidity of the pioneers of this deen is the reason why this deen has remained preserved to date.
Of course. But when you have learnt that eminent pioneers of this deen had given insight on this matter and you still stuck to your gun, then it becomes your own rigidity, that is what I meant. But then I am sorry if I hurt your feelings with that. Abu Ishaq as Subaai, ra, had narrated that "I lived at a time when they (the companions, rad) gave out the cash value as zakatul fitr" (musannaf). This clearly established that it was a practice understood by the sahaba, rad to not contradict the sunna of the prophet, saw, as intent is to meet the need of the poor and that the unit one sa' (of date or barely) and not the item is important.

webincomeplus:
Again, you'll never find anyone fault giving out food. If there's "controversy" over giving out money, giving out food remains the safest option.
Of course. It only shows the universal applicability of Islam and its rules. But it is not an error neither is it bid'a to give out money.

webincomeplus:
Yes, and clothing was among the items commonly traded by barter at the time. Yet, the Prophet didn't sanction giving out clothing...
Allah would not allow the prophet, saw, make that mistake. As fabrics are being improved and composed differently, their type and values change over time and it would be difficult to establish the unit based on what fabric type to adopt as a unit of measurement.

webincomeplus:
I believe there's enough clear evidence for whoever wants to take heed and avoid the doubtful.
I bet you would not say that about thiqah narrators and eminent leaders such as Abu Ishaq as Subaai, Sufyan Thawri, Ishaq Ibn ar Rahaawuyah, umar II etc rahmatUllaahi alayhim. They were well positioned in terms of knowledge and period of life to be well clear of doubt about the permissibility of the use of money.

webincomeplus:
Again, you'll never find anyone fault giving out food...
Why would any one? That is the rule and of course giving out money is the exception.

Happy Eid Brother.

The hadeeth you quoted even faults your position rather than support it. Mu'adh said he will resort to ijtihad ONLY AFTER there is no solution in the book of Allaah and in the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW). In this case of zakatul fitr, the sunnah has already made things clear, and that knocks off the need for formulating judgement based on ijtihaad.
I disagree with you that it can be clearly established from the quoted hadith that whether or not money can be used has been answered. The quoted hadith does not indicate this, read again:

The Companion of the Prophet, Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree, radi Allahu 'anhu, said, "In the Prophet's time, we used to give it (Zakatal-Fitr) as a sa` of food, dried dates, barley, raisins or dried cheese".

Moreover, some of the items listed in this narration were not attributed to the prophet, saw, namely: food, raisin or dried cheese. It only showed what the people would offer. In fact, these additional items: food, raisin or dried cheese are not mentioned in the hadith of Ibn Umar, rad, which is the hadith that is attributed to the holy prophet, saw, and that hadith only mentioned dates and barely.

Therefore, it can be seen that the sahaba i kiram, rad, already used substitute items. So if we were to stick with your rigidity, we only could offer dried dates or barely for zakatul fitr, period. But no. The sahaba, rad, already understood that the instruction of the prophet, saw, only served to establish the unit of measurement which is why they would use equivalent items such as (other) food (items), raisin or dried cheese. Moreover, when hazrat Muawiya became the caliph and by which time wheat had become available, he unitized the measurement of wheat against dates and the sahaba, rad, accepted it as well (sahih muslim).

Once you understand this concept of unitizing the measurement, then it becomes easy to extrapolate. And this is not something of today. It is well practiced by salafus salihin. It is reported that this practice of using money has been permitted since the time of Umar II. That is a very early tabi period. They are the successor to the sahaba, rad. And they inherited this understanding from them (that it can be unitized to other items of value), musannaf.

webincomeplus:
Brother, bear in mind that there was money during the time of the Prophet. And there were companions who had problems that only money could solve, but yet, the Prophet enjoined giving out food for zakah.
But common trades were done majorly by barter. Items such as dates, and barely were commonly used. This could well inform the reason for the Prophet, saw, setting them as unit of measurement.

I dont know what you mean by And there were companions who had problems that only money could solve as if the monetary value of zakatul fitr could meet people's capital demands. I mean it is a very small value in terms of money, not up to one thousand naira of today. What kind of problem could that be that the prayer of the prophet, saw, would not turn around except if the sahaba concerned chose to take it faithfully. I simply don't understand that reasoning.

You simply stick to what the Prophet did and stay away from what he never did.
The prophet himself, saw, is aware that this position of yours will not be feasible in all nuances. Remember the hadith of Muadh bin Jabal, ra.

Mu'adh ibn Jabal states that when the Prophet (PBUH) sent him to Yemen, he asked:

"what will you do if a matter is referred to you for judgement?" Mu'adh said: "I will judge according to the Book of Allah." The Prophet asked: "what if you find no solution in the Book of Allah?" Mu'adh said: "Then I will judge by the Sunnah of the Prophet." The Prophet asked: "And what if you do not find it in the Sunnah of the Prophet?" Mu'adh said: "Then I will make Ijtihad to formulate my own judgement." The Prophet patted Mu'adh's chest and said "Praise be to Allah who has guided the messenger of His Prophet to that which pleases Him and His Prophet."[Abu Daud]

The only authority whose position cannot be dismissed is the Prophet (SAW). Even the Imams of the 4 madhhabs did admit that they are not infallible. And they all stated that if an authentic prophetic tradition contradicts their positions, their positions should be discarded.
And in the absence of that authentic prophetic tradition that lays bare the rule, what do you do?

webincomeplus:
Yes, there are no narrations prohibiting the use of money, but there are narrations warning us from doing things in ways contrary to how the Prophet did them.
That is if the prophet, saw, had said "only use food".

webincomeplus:
If your argument were to be casted into every issue, there will be serious problems. Is there any narration that prohibits observing 6 rakahs for solatu zuhr instead of 4? Is there any narration that prohibits fasting for 40 days instead of 30? The answer is NO. But does the absence of express prohibitions amount to freedom to do anything we like? NO!
It comes in a hadith, pray as you see me pray. He, saw, has never been seen to observe other than two or four rakats zuhr as the situation may demand.
It comes in another hadith, fasting begins upon the sighting of the moon and ends upon the sighting of the next moon but do not exceed the one month period in case you do not sight the next moon early enough.

There is nothing amusing about it. You are not taking into consideration that the Buhari family is a muslim family. A muslim man has no control over the wife's earning. In addition to that he must provide her food, shelter, and clothing. The wife can treat herself to any aesthetics from what she earns. The only control the muslim has over her wife with regards to going out to earn is the permission. He can grant this or otherwise. What is actually amusing is when you make comment based on your background's view of how a man and wife should operate in a family. You apparently have assumed they should be owning a joint account or the wife earning be delivered to the husband or something in which case you have a point against Buhari. But not so buddy.

Otherwise, what prevents him from sending same infor he gave the CCB to the press/media? What he did is no different from what other office-holders have been doing. Isn't that fraudulent?
He had to declare his asset with CCB as a requirement to getting sworn in and so he did, so what is fraudulent in doing that? His promise to make his asset declaration public is well within the 100 days that he promised to do that. Why the busy body in 10days?

Jonathan borrowed $1B dollars in addition to the massive security votes that were expended year in year out to fight terrorism, albeit, much of the money is diverted into private accounts. This is the aid Buhari was referring to. That he fought terrorism in his first term well within the nations budget.

barcanista:
How do you define incompetence when the same general refused to condemn the May 29 Boko haram attack that happened in the morning of said day just few moments after his inauguration but decided to party and send a picture of him in the mosque? The old general only condemned subsequent bh attack that happened the next day. The record is there. Isn't that inconpetence and non-challance?

Another difference is that you must marry your "slave" and she becomes your wife before u sleep with her...
Nope. Please do not be economical with the truth. It is your action of having a sexual affair with her that upgrades her to a wife status. That is not all, if you find her not to be sweet in bed, as an example, you can let her go. But for free. I challenge you to show me from your bible where it is mandated to marry your slave before you can have a sexual affair with her. I quote the verse again with emphases on the boldened:
Deut. 21:10-14
When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive, And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife; Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife. And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

You could not defend the bible altogether, so you refer to a portion as old testament and proceeded to excise it from the bible. But if I ask you to tell me how the world was created now, you'd go back to it. It's your baby so please deal with it.

Then you quoted from the new testament:

parisbookaddict:
Now the new testament which I practise as a Christian
Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond(slave) nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 12:13:
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond(slave) or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."
Colossians 3:11:
"Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond(slave) nor free: but Christ is all, and in all."
These are the writings of Paul. Just his perspectives on the matter. Then he would turn around again and say in Ephesian6:5

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.

And

1 Timothy 6:1-2
All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. 2 Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[a] of their slaves.

parisbookaddict:
the bible dose not support slavery,infact God condemn it;
See Ephesian6:5 and 1 Timothy 6:1-2 quoted above.

That's not all, the good master himself said according to Luke 12:47-48:

Luke 12:47-48New International Version (NIV)
47 “The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. If a man beats his male or female slave (to stupor) and the slave dies after a couple of days, then the man is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property anyway, according to the bible.

If they are skewed pls "unskew" them.
Of course I had proven that to you already that your quotations were skewed and I laid plain the facts to you and you are yet to answer the questions that I asked you.

For example, I proved to you that the verses you claimed were the verses for apostasy had quotation mix ups that could confuse the reader, viz: They either were not the only verses for apostasy or at least one quotation did not map to the verse number and at least one verse did not talk about apostasy. Then I listed you more relevant verses which effectively disproved your rhetoric about what you want people to conceive about Islam concerning apostasy. You could not disprove that. So admit your quotations were skewed.

Then I moved on to the next point in which I requested you to back your below claim with evidence:
parisbookaddict:
...a very flawed human who raped sex slaves...
Now you are replying with a discursive writing. But in order to stay on point I shall only respond to the subject matter quoted. By the grace of Allah, I have the time to respond to every single matter that you raise but I have to take them one after another in order to keep it informative. Part of my aim is to endear to the discerning reader.

parisbookaddict:
..a slave can not give consent hence he raped them..
So there is no source to it after all. This is a mere insinuation from you. I thought that you'd overwhelm me with quotes after quotes where he (Allah forbids) is reported to have done such to his slaves. After all you claimed to have "...tonnes of sahih hadiths and quran passages to back up the fact that...rapist of sex slaves".

Now here is the proof of how the prophet (saw) actually treated his slaves and led by example for others:

One:
He (saw) taught us from the Holy Qur'an 4, the commandment of Allah Almighty:

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, ... and those whom your right hands possess (your slaves). Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-conceited and boastful. 36

Two:
He (saw) himself advised:

Your servants and your slaves are your brothers. Anyone who has slaves should give them from what he eats and wears. He should not charge them with work beyond their capabilities. If you must set them to hard work in any case, I advise you to help them.

Source: Bukhari, Iman, 22; Adab, 44; Muslim, Iman, 38–40; Abu Dawud, Adab, 124

Three:
Not one of you should [ when introducing someone ] say ‘This is my slave’ , ‘This is my concubine’. He should call them ‘my daughter’ or ‘my son’ or ‘my brother’.

Source: Ibn Hanbal, Musnad, 2 ,4

Four:
The Prophet, had stipulated in his "last pilgrimage" speech:

"And your slaves ! see that you feed them such food as you eat yourselves and dress them what you yourself wear. And if they commit a “mistake which you are not inclined to forgive then sell them, for they are the servants of Allah and are not to be tormented! "

For this reason ‘Umar, his companion, and his servant took it in turns to ride on the camel from Madina to Jerusalem on their journey to take control of Masjid al-Aqsa. I believe it is this famous story that was adapted to a similar yoruba folklore.

And you'd accuse him of brutalizing his slaves by raping them without any proof? Fear God my sister. I am not saying this to cower you down but to be rather factual in your criticisms. This is what your hand is sending forth and that you shall surely meet with it before Allah is my belief. The Holy Qur'an 78:40 says:

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth...

Moving on...

parisbookaddict:
Sahih Muslim 8:29:
“IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO HAVE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH A CAPTIVE WOMAN AFTER SHE IS PURIFIED (OF MENSES OR DELIVERY) IN CASE SHE HAS A HUSBAND, HER MARRIAGE IS ABROGATED AFTER SHE BECOMES CAPTIVE.”

Sahih Muslim 8:3432:
“Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that at the Battle of Hunain Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that:" And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess (verse 4:24)" (i.e., they were lawful for them when their 'Idda period came to an end).”

Qur'an (4:24)-"And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." Even sex with married slaves is permissible.

Qur'an (8:69)-"But (now) enjoy what ye took in war, lawful and good" A reference to war booty, of which slaves were a part

Qur'an (33:50)-"O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those (slaves) whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee"

Qur'an (23:5-6)-"..who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess..." This verse permits the slave-owner to have sex with his slaves.
FACT:
What can be apparently established from the above quoted verses is the permissibility of sex with ones slaves in Islam. You will never be able to establish that slaves were compelled to sex by their owners from the quoted. Compulsion into sex is a bad act and both the Holy Qur'an and the prophet (saw) have already forbidden that one acts in a bad manner toward his slave.

Come to think of it, the first quotation in this set seems to strike a resemblance with what you have in the bible (judging that you are a christian from your previous posts)

Deut.

Where one has to remain for a period of at least 3 to 5 menstrual circles if she is not pregnant before offering the option of sex to her and which can even stretch to beyond 9 months if she is pregnant, the other only needs to wait one month irrespective of if she is from a previous relationship.

Anyway, would you say, by virtue of the above bible quotation that the bible advise to rape your slaves? Or do you not realize, ab initio, that this is a verse from the bible permitting sexual intercourse between slave owner and slave?

parisbookaddict:
...used valuable space to repeat the same point four times...
I shall simply refer you to verses in the bible that refer to treatment of slaves and how they might even be brutalized even from the mouth of the good master according to the bible:
Leviticus 25:44-46
Exodus 21:2-6
Exodus 21:7-11
Exodus 21:20-21
Ephesians 6:5
1 Timothy 6:1-2
Luke 12:47-48
The brutality found in these bible verses are out rightly prohibited in Islam.

The Prophet (saw) said:
If your slaves commit a “mistake which you are not inclined to forgive then sell them, for they are the servants of Allah and are not to be tormented! "
The good master said:
If a man beats his male or female slave (to stupor) and the slave dies after a couple of days, then the man is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property anyway, according to the bible, Exodus 21:20-21.

Well, I am a muslim and I don't know about that in all my learning.

Its in the quran and hadiths and i have read them...i can get u the verses...
Please do.

Every time i make topics showing these things in the religion section they get deleted
You have been quoting verses all along, albeit skewed, and I have not seen anyone of them get deleted. I hope the mods will realize that the conversation has progressed in a manner to set the records straight, so they wont delete them this time.

I like to stick to a bone of contention until it is effectively decided before moving to the next one, so if you don't lay on the points, how can your statements be banked upon?

Let's see if they will allow him leave islam when the time comes
Sahih Bukhari Volume 9, Book 83, Number 17:Narrated 'Abdullah:

Allah's Apostle said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Apostle, cannot be shed except in three cases: ... and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and leaves the Muslims."Qur'an 3:90-91
Please observe that two conditions were placed here:

Reverting from Islam and
Leaving the Muslims

I am more interested in the second condition as it signifies joining the enemy group who were warring against the Muslims. Please let's bear in mind that not all the people who did not accept Islam were in war against Muslims at the time [FACT].

With the above in mind, we might just get to accommodate more views with regard to the other quoted verses.

parisbookaddict:
The passages in the Koran dealing with apostasy are the chapter of Women, verse 90; the chapter of the Table, verse 59; and the chapter of the Bee, verse 108, viz:
There are some referential mix ups here and there about the quotations, mainly:

These are not the only verses that speak about apostasy. Also, at least one quotation did not map to the verse number and at least one verse did not talk about apostasy:

You quoted Holy Qur'an 4:88-89 but referenced 4:90-91.

The chapter of Table Spread, Qur'an 5:59:
Say, "O People of the Scripture, do you resent us except [for the fact] that we have believed in Allah and what was revealed to us and what was revealed before and because most of you are defiantly disobedient?"

As you can see, this is not a verse about apostasy.

The chapter of Bee, Qur'an 16:108

Not a verse about apostasy, though Qur'an 16:106 is.

Mixing up references makes it difficult to follow claims, you know!

Some other verses that talk about apostasy which you excluded:

Qur'an 2:218
Qur'an 3:85-92

You will find that these other verses directly address apostasy too. So your claim about the listed verses about apostasy is half truth at best. The foregone is to set the record straight reference in order to avoid being misled by skeletal quotations. Moving on.

Lets look at the relevant sections of the Holy book so far cited:

Quran 4 (Women):

What is [the matter] with you [that you are] two groups concerning the hypocrites, while Allah has made them fall back [into error and disbelief] for what they earned. Do you wish to guide those whom Allah has sent astray? And he whom Allah sends astray - never will you find for him a way [of guidance]. 88

They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper. 89

Except for those who take refuge with a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty or those who come to you, their hearts strained at [the prospect of] fighting you or fighting their own people. And if Allah had willed, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. So if they remove themselves from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allah has not made for you a cause [for fighting] against them. 90

You will find others who wish to obtain security from you and [to] obtain security from their people. Every time they are returned to [the influence of] disbelief, they fall back into it. So if they do not withdraw from you or offer you peace or restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you overtake them. And those - We have made for you against them a clear authorization. 91

Question:
Why did you avoid quoting the exceptions that were made (which you did not quote) in verse 90 and 91?

Qur'an 16 (Bee)

Whoever disbelieves in Allah after his belief... except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith. But those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allah , and for them is a great punishment; 106

Question:
Why did you refuse to give the textual quotation of the verse. Probably because the direction for your supposed conclusion is not given there.

Qur'an 2 (Cow)

They ask you about the sacred month - about fighting therein. Say, "Fighting therein is great [sin], but averting [people] from the way of Allah and disbelief in Him and [preventing access to] al-Masjid al-Haram and the expulsion of its people therefrom are greater [evil] in the sight of Allah . And fitnah is greater than killing." And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able. And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally. 217

Qur'an 3 (Family of Imran)

How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and had witnessed that the Messenger is true and clear signs had come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. 86

Those - their recompense will be that upon them is the curse of Allah and the angels and the people, all together, 87

Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved. 88

Except for those who repent after that and correct themselves. For indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 89

Indeed, those who reject the message after their belief and then increase in disbelief - never will their [claimed] repentance be accepted, and they are the ones astray. 90

Question:

Why didn't you quote all of these directly found in the source and put the issue into proper perspective but you were only interested in one prejudiced view?
