Seun:Nawa o, r u muslim? |
^ Ilorin is a truly blessed city. I am happy they are not taking this bundle of deception of the age. |
^ The shaykh was quick to accept the narration given his "high standards" for accepting narrations because there is a majhool in there. The identity of 'sister' or her relationship with the caller is not established. |
^^ "We thank Allah that these type of people were not the foremost in Nigeria". This movement is the worst thing to ever befall the north from where it crept to other parts of our dear country. Look at the life of an average northerner in places where they have some foot-hold today. Look at what they have brought on Borno state. All the heights attained by Islam were under the strict guidance of 'sufi' grand masters. I was shocked (in awe) when I read the conquest of Constantinople - Aaq Shamsaddeen. |
AbdelKabir:Qur'an 3 95. The question is: does OP mean that the statement "Allah has spoken the truth" only applies in the context of setting the record straight for the Jews who questioned the holy prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam? Therefore it can only be mentioned in that context? What kind of reasoning is this? Is this not a doubting of the Qur'an in itself with this kind of reasoning? Lets examine the ayat further: Tasfir, ma'ariful Qur'an: ... One such argument, which has been reported in Ruh al Ma'ani on the authority of Wahidi and al-Kalbi, recounts the incident when the Holy Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, stated his adherence to the commnunity of Abraham with reference to all fundamentals of the religious code, and most of the subsidiaries, (so) the Jews object by saying: "You eat camel meat and partake of its milk although these were unlawful for Abraham." The Holy Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, said: "No, this was lawful for him". The Jews said: "All that we consider unlawful has continued to be unlawful since the days of Noah and Abraham to the point that this unlawfulness reached us" Thereupon, Allah Almighty reveald the verse: "Every (kind of) food was lawful for the children of Isra'il except the camel meat which Isra'il (Jacob), alayhissalam, himsel had denied to eat for a particular reason, and then it remained unlawful for his progeny also." The fact, as narrated from Sayyidina Ibn Abbas in an authentic report, is that Jacob suffered from Sciatica. He had taken a vow that he would abandon what he liked most in what he ate if Allah Almighty cured him of the disease. He was cured and camel meat was what he liked most, so he abandoned it. (See Al Hakim and al Tirmidhi as quoted by Ruh al Ma'ani). Then it so happened that this prohibition which started because of a vow (by an individual) continued among the bani Isra'il as a divine injunction. End Quote: Ma'ariful Quran So the Holy Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, was explaining to them that even though they observed this prohibition, they should understand that it was not a prohibition ordered by Allah Almighty, rather it was the vow of an individual. It is not clear to me if the Jews were able to point the source out from their book or not or whether they presented a doctored source, for which they were known for, for which the verses were revealed: Quran 3 93-95 All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel had made unlawful to himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, [O Muhammad], "So bring the Torah and recite it, if you should be truthful." And whoever invents about Allah untruth after that - then those are [truly] the wrongdoers. Say, "Allah has told the truth. So follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of the polytheists." What is however very clear is the affirmation that "Allah has told the truth" is not a phrase that is restricted to this event but has a universally applicable meaning at any point in time. Restricting the phrase to this particular incident, or even worse, declaring as bid'a elsewhere this phrase is mentioned, irrespective of the circumstance, is placing doubt on the Word of Allah. And you all know what you are entering into. So who is attacking Islam from the inside? |
@empiree May Allah reward you abundantly. Thanks for spotting that weird assertion "Attributing a dhikr...". Don't you really fear for the Iman of these people? SubhanAllah! |
@ikupakuti Ma sha Allah. Thanks for sharing bro. Kind of admire your writing skills also. Since aim of sufism is to gain in piety overall, no need to ask for more about the spiritual entities encountered. Thanks once again. |
ikupakuti:Please brother can you share with me your experience especially if it was spiritually uplifting. It's been quite sometime I hear spiritually uplifting anecdotes. These days it seems to be more of arguments and conflict resolutions. You may decline if it was some trials or something. |
ikupakuti:Some of them are genuinely influenced especially here in Nigeria. Some others have realized their mistakes but have made themselves into public figures thereby making it difficult to retrace their steps. The global body of course are still bent on continuing on the work of Al Afgani, Muhammad Abdoh, Rashid Rida, Albani etc up to the contemporary crop of salafi scholars. |
https://www.nairaland.com/3616951/soofeeyahs-dislike-knowledge Above thread has alot of useful information for muslims. Please take it to FP. |
Empiree:Hmmm... The alarm bell started ringing in my family when my parents called me and told me that they were not pleased with my younger brothers for now. Upon enquiry, I discovered they (my parents) were being hurt by the way and manner my younger brothers come forward to greet them. I reached out to my younger brothers and they said they were implementing 'authentic sunnah'. Realizing the calamity of one's parents being displeased with him (mum especially) I had to embark on resolving the conflict. To cut the story short, it was a long battle before their brain could be reset to understand that the way they greeted our parents before was not wrong afterall as far as postration was not involved and that there is some misunderstanding in what they claimed to be 'authentic sunnah'. I am waiting for a thread that is targeted at that one day, so that I can submit some of my findings, inshaAllah. I truely appreciate your effort, because their approach is very cunning. |
Following the thread closely. Never new Ibn Taymiyya wore the cloak of Abdul Qadir Jeilani, ra, and felt honored by it. As for Al Hallaj Mansur, I think most people rather just keep quiet than condemn him. There were many documented powerful anecdotes around him to be swept under just like that. But Allah knows best. If christians had Al Hallaj, I wondered what they would have made him into? |
They've spoken, update yourselves! |
These are some of the precursors to the big one to come when Isa (alayhissalam), Jesus shall descend from heaven to proclaim Islam and the worship of one true God, Allahu ta'ala. So all ye xtians and others who are specialists at attacking Islam here on NL and other media should continue to perfect your denial of the truth. By the time that happens your hearts would have become sufficiently hardened enough to reject him as well. |
@empiree Thanks for the ample citations. The stock in trade of mischief makers is mischief. They don't have any evidence against true Sufis. The next line you will hear from them is 'dhaif' 'dhaif'. Where is their own sharee' reference so far, none. Oh Allah, please remove this disaster from upon us where people are goaded into shattering Islam from within while thinking that they are helping it. Ameen. |
AbuuBilaal:Your threats amounts to nothing. Infact, that is another one of your methodologies. Threat and harrassment. The entire OP has not verse or hadith against sufism, but it is convenient to threaten people with verses of the Qur'an afterwards. You people are being spoken to by those same verses because you are destroying the way of the true muslims. |
AbuuBilaal:If you are looking for a narration about "ranting Allah, Allah", I am sure you won't get it because that is not what the verse of the holy Qur'an mentioned. The verse says remember Allah "from within", "in humility and in fear", or "not very loudly". Or may be you don't know what "ranting" means. But the methodologies of those working to destroy Islam from within is becoming evident day by day - among which is to put a spin on a narrative, then demand evidence based on the spin. The holy Qur'an did not say "ranting", neither did Imam Ghazali, ra, say that. This "ranting" is your own and your people's inventions to try to confuse unsuspecting readers. Anyway, if this is how you interpret that verse of the holy Qur'an despite its stated clear message then your reward is with Allah Almighty, in full recompense. Then of what use is a "narration about ranting" to someone who blantantly attempts to twist the ayat of the holy Qur'an. Will any narration, no matter how sahih, be superior to the ayat of the holy Quran, that is very clear and unambiguous in its text. |
Imaam Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Uthmaan ad-Dhahabi (d.748) -Rahimullaah- quoted Ghazali saying:The entire write up is a mere rubbish designed to confuse unsuspecting muslims and instil hate among them. Apparently, the write up simply amounts to taking jabs at a certain group using the personal opinions that some people have against other group of people without any textual proof from the sources of the deen. By the way, what better does one expect from the followers of (or people who have become influenced by) those who systematically destroying Islam from within? Anyway, from the above quoted alone, suffice to say that the sufis who make zikr of Allah as thus described are obeying the commandment of Allahu ta ala from the holy Quran 7 205: And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless(205). Indeed, those who are near your Lord are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, and they exalt Him, and to Him they prostrate.(206) But it is not known where the one who calls them "idiot" got his evidence from. And you are happy to help spread it without any sharee' evidences. As for the quotation attributed to Imam Ghazali, ra, I would have loved to see the direct source of the quotation and not quoting him through the author because Imam Ghazali, ra, can not be said to be opposing them when he is acknowledging the status which they attain while at the same time calling their knowledge "not proper". Something is fishy around that quotation. "I learned from a sure source that the Sufis are the true pioneers on the path of Allah; that there is nothing more beautiful than their life, nor more praiseworthy than their rule of conduct, nor purer than their morality." - Imam Ghazali. Please read here in full how imam Ghazali went from being a religious scholar to totally devoting his life to sufism, from the imam's own auto biography. http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?139134-Imam-Ghazali-on-Sufism-and-the-Reality-of-Spiritual-Inspiration Brothers, don't let people fool you here on NL, about imam Ghazali being against sufism. The people who are against sufis are a small band of people who have been negatively influenced (knowingly or unknowingly) by a recent group of people working to destroy Islam from within. Updated: Brothers should please move closer to the truely pious sufi mashayks, true salvation in this deen is with them. |

PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY QUR'AN OF THE SAHABA, R.A. Once Umar ibn al-Khattab, radiyAllahu anh, met a caravan on one of his journeys as caliph. It was pitch dark and the caravan could not be seen properly. Umar ordered someone to hail the caravan (to stop). (Now) it (so) happened that Abdullah ibn Masud, radiyAllahu anh, was in it (and who was of course well grounded in the knowledge of the holy Qur'an. "From where do you come?" asked Umar. "From a deep valley," came the reply. The expression used "fajj 'amiq" was from the holy Quran (22:27) meaning "a distant hilly pathway". "And where are you going?" asked Umar. "To the ancient house," came the reply. The expression used "al-bayt al-atiq, the ancient house, the ka'aba" was from the holy Quran 22:29 It looked like Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud, radiyAllahu anh, was on pilgrimage from Kufa where Umar, radiyAllahu anh, had sent him as a governor. "There is a learned person (alim) among them," said Umar and he commanded someone to ask the person (the following further questions): "Which part of the Quran is the greatest?" "Allah. There is no god except Him, the Living, the Self-subsisting. Neither slumber overtakes Him nor sleep," replied the person answering, quoting the Ayat al-Kursi (the verse of the Throne). "Which part of the Quran is the most clear on justice?" "'God commands what is just and fair, the feeding of relatives . . .' " came the answer. "What is the most comprehensive statement of the Qur'an?" " 'Whoever does an atom's weight of good shall see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil shall see it.' " "Which part of the Qur'an gives rise to the greatest hope?" "'Say, O my servants who have wasted their resources, do not despair of the mercy of God. Indeed, God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Compassionate.' " Thereupon Umar asked: "Is Abdullah ibn Mas'ud among you?" "Yes, by God," the men in the caravan replied. |
Acquaint yourself with fewer people, and as a result, you will backbite less frequently. - Sufyan ath thawri |
It was hinted to Abu Yazid (Bayazid) that in a certain place a great teacher was to be found. He came from afar to see him. As he approached, he saw the reputed teacher spit in the direction of Mecca (Qibla). He at once retraced his steps. "If he had achieved anything at all in the way," he remarked, "he would never have been guilty of trans- gressing the Law.'" - Bayazid Al Bistami, r.a. |
Ok. To me, thread will only make real sense if it is dedicated to relay the narrations from muslims whom the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, has declared their assertions to be protected from from deviations, pure and genuine. The salaf as salihin. But if this is how you want it fine and good. But bear in mind that quotations you get from outside of those generations could be poison coated with honey as warned by the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. AbuHammaad:That is still well into the era of doubt, as per second half of islamic age to date. AbuHammaad:I know it didn't start from him. It started around the age of the scholars you mentioned above (a la madhhabi ideology), fanned by him (Abdul Wahhab) a couple of centuries later (a wahhabi movement). Developed later (in the last 200 years), almost in a continuous chain, by the likes of Muhammad Abduh, Muhammad Rashid Reza, Al Albani, Bin Baz etc into the 'salafism' of today. Now there are lots of unending controversies about many of the people in context already which would eventually lead to derailment of the thread. That is my concern about the thread, not to start an arguement. |
AbuHammaad:No we are not saying the same thing. The word 'salaf' or 'salaf as salihin' is established whereas the word 'salafi' or 'salafism' is newly introduced. |
AbuHammaad:The word 'salaf' or 'salaf' as salihin', as we all know, is used to refer to the Muslims of the first three generations whom the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi WA salam, has indemnified from deviation. The word 'salafi' or 'salafism', though in reference to 'salaf' is an entirely new word which came about not more than 200 years ago. So you should change the topic heading accordingly but there is no way adding to salaf people who are not from the salaf as made clear by the Hadith of the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi WA salam. |
Splendid! |
The greatest truth is honesty, and the greatest falsehood is dishonesty. - Sayyidina Abubakar, radiyAllahu anh |
Please stop derailing the thread by quoting from people who are not from the generations of the salaf-us-salihin. Ibn Taymiyyah and Al Albaani are not from that era. |
lexiconkabir:Interesting! so the prohibition of seeking intercession after the death of RasulUllah, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, is now down to the weakening of this hadith or some others. Not that there is a clear ayat or hadith that expressly commands this prohibition. Hmm, na wa!. lexiconkabir:Yes he, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, shall intercede for my duas. I don't know what you mean by he, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, will respond. If you are implying that he, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam answers dua, then that is solely your assertion. The point I am making is that his being mercy upon me continues to subsists even if he is no longer physically with us today. He, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, is mercy unto the worlds, mine inclusive. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds. Surat Al-'Anbya' (21:107) So I will use that to beseech Allahu ta'ala in my duas and my duas shall be accepted, as always. And Allahu ta'ala says, seek means to approach me, Quran 5 35. What better means than the mercy unto the worlds. Also I don't know what you mean by "no more" about the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wasallam, and this one lexiconkabir:Are you implying that since he is no longer physically with us, then our requests for intercession through him are no longer valid? Again, what an interesting supposition? Please I would like to see the daleel for that. But bear in mind that scholars have pointed out that other prophets, alayhimussalam, who were in al barzakh, still participated in worships and interacted with the living by citing the popular isra/m'iraj of the prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, where he led the other anbiya in salah and held conversations with a number of them. |
