A reminder to everyone.

Obi case argument closes tomorrow, out of 50 witness he said he will call, only 7 witnesses have been interrogated.

When the case is thrown out by the tribunal make nobody shout the judges have been compromised oo.

Lol, there is a reason why no one is touching it, the recommended date was January 1, 2023.

I don’t think any assembly will be foolish enough to pass that law, and even they do which state governor or president will assent to it?

Based on what I read on it , the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) claimed salaries of public officials , judicial officers and elected officials have not been reviewed since 2007 and that it was due for upward review this year . Somehow they are proposing a 114% pay rise .

I guess this particular matter will determine if Tinubu is any different from other presidents in the past. If they are telling us they need to remove petrol subsidy , let go education subsidy and make other tough sacrifices because Nigeria don’t have the money to continue with them, it will be totally wicked and selfish to go ahead with the new pay rise they are proposing for now . It will only mean they want the rich to keep getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

Someone like Senator Abiru of Lagos East senatorial district was the MD of a commercial bank where he resigned and contested for vacant senate seat. People like that are already made . It will be sheer wickedness for people of his caliber to get 114% pay rise while the common man in the streets( some of whom campaigned and voted for him) sink deeper down the poverty line .

I want to believe they will step it down, if not for anything but for the bad PR it will give their government
Exactly.

I don’t think any state house of assembly or the federal house of assembly will want to look into it. Not at this time when so much is being asked of the citizen.

Any state that try to implement and amend their law on that recommendation should be called out.

There’s no such law.

It’s a proposal by RMAFC, it hasn’t even been passed in the house of assembly both state and federal.

If only people will read the article , the headline is just a clickbait to garner response by pulse, our media houses are really something else.

Ballzproblem2:
copied from FP:

Before we all get carried away with the media propaganda, here are the summary of Tinubu's government to date:

1. Fuel subsidy is removed and you will buy fuel for 500 to 900naira per liter (depending on the exchange rate). The savings will be looted like that of kerosene and diesel. There will be no commensurate succor/ palliative for your suffering. Instead of going after the subsidy thieves and stopping the smuggling across boarders, they have transferred the responsibility to the helpless Nigerian people.

2. Naira has been devalued (though they call it floating). The FG has handed over the exchange to the market forces where speculators and banks are king. Naira continues to fall in the I/E and parallel market. Anybody who tells you Naira will appreciate is a joker, for a corrupt country like ours, the banks and speculators are the new cabal and will drive the rates how they deem fit. Don’t believe…. Just observe. What most don’t get now is that CBN now has no obligation to provide FX at a particular rate to the market, as such the new FG players can access FX from CBN without noise.

3. FG funding for tertiary education has been removed. Students will pay upwards of 400K tuition fee starting next session. A lot of students will drop out and cannot complete their education anymore. The so-called student loan will be almost impossible for an average student without connection to access. Guess what happens to the savings from this funding…. To be looted by the same people who have impoverished the nation.

4. Electricity tariff have been increased (without increased production) and will take effect from July 1st. This is a death knell to small and medium scale businesses. You are now stuck between the devil (PMS at 550naira per liter) and the blue sea (extra expensive electricity tariff).

5. All the FG has done so far is abandon almost all responsibilities it has over the people through the bills being signed since May 29. All Tinubu has done is to make available funds to be shared by him and his goons at the expense of the people. Not a single bill or action aimed at ameliorating the suffering of the already downcast Nigerian people rather adding to the pain in the guise of elitist policies

6. Guess what…. None of these policies have any impact on the political class and they have not made a single sacrifice. Same old political criminals are back in power, Gbaja, Akume, Asari Dokubo etc and you expect any real change apart from increased suffering?. How do you expect Tinubu to pay back the these same criminals who supported him into power?
Nigerians…. Suffer no dey tire una?
😂😂😂

BREAKING: PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU APPROVES DISSOLUTION OF BOARDS OF FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PARASTATALS, AGENCIES, INSTITUTIONS AND GOVERNMENT-OWNED COMPANIES

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Governing Boards of all Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies in the exercise of its Constitutional Powers and in the Public interest.

The dissolution does not, however, affect Boards, Commissions and Councils listed in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

In view of this development and until such a time new boards are constituted, the Chief Executive Officers of the Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies are directed to refer matters requiring the attention of their Boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their respective supervisory Ministries and Offices.

Permanent Secretaries are directed, also, to route such correspondences to Mr President through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Consequently, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies are to ensure compliance to the provision of this directive which took effect from Friday 16th June, 2023.

Permanent Secretaries are particularly directed to inform the Chief Executive Officers of the affected Agencies under the supervision of their respective Ministries/Offices for immediate compliance.

No I don't actually.

Tell me what economics we practice in Nigeria that always leaves us scratching our head.

How many times have things been done by government that the effects has been totally different from initially planned.

So again tell me how our own brand of economics isn't beautiful 😊
Your currency 💴 is either fixed or floated.

Right now the value of naira is being determined by market forces, nobody actually knows what the value of Naira will be by the end of today, it could shoot up or come down, it you are regular trader and have access to the I & E window, you can also check on this website.

https://fmdqgroup.com/

If you’re checking regularly you will see that Naira prices have been going up and down, if you check 3hrs from now you will see that the Naira price has changed again, that’s a floating currency.

And to make it worse we still do not have the required fx as at today to meet the demand for fx with those cbn rates
The naira has been floated.

It’s obvious they are just fooling around, these are the same people that claim to have Television even when television has not entered mass production.

Leave them to their delusion, it won’t change anything. No right thinking individuals will place Ghana ahead of Nigeria in influence on the African continent.

You said Ghana is influential because it has Finance Brands. That was how we got it into this argument.

You then went on to list some of those Finance brands that makes Ghana influential. GCB, Engineering and Planning, Zoom lion are some of them according to you and you implied they are worth over 1 Billion dollars which is why they are top financial brands making Ghana influential in Africa.

You brought this argument up, not me.

In the President Advisory Council report, they intend to implement the Oronsaye Report. I'm all for it.

They should leave Customs and NIMASA alone tho, just move their revenue generating arm to FIRS while Customs and NIMASA continue their other mandates.

They should merge EFCC and ICPC

They should merge NPA and National Waterway Inland Commission

They should merge VIO and FRSC, VIO should be a department under FRSC

And so on.

It will bring efficiency into these MDAs and reduce redundancy.
I have still not seen anywhere in the world where customs are involved in revenue generation, it’s an abnormally.

It distract them from their core functions, that agency should be manned by technocrat.

What’s a representative of national universities doing on the board of custom.

Everybody is just trying to fleece and make money from Nigeria business man, reason we are ranked low on the ease of doing business.

The retaining of the 43 banned items list by the CBN don’t look wise to me.

If we want a unified exchange rate, banning importers from accessing fx for certain items on the official market will lead to them sourcing the fx from the parallel market.

We should do away with banning it reeks of military mentality, let’s introduce import substitution.
