Nigeria operated fixed rate during the period you mentioned. Government determined dollars rate then but today market forces determine the rate and that's why there is no much different between official market and parallel market rates.

No be only market forces. More advanced and stable economies like China still defend their currency, unstable economy like ours believe we can float.

It will never find its true value back then because the Government was using about $1.5billion every month to keep the dollar at a fixed rate.

But we just discovered few days ago that the CBN used $8bn to defend the Naira in 9 months. The value within those periods range between 1100-1700.

Someone above said he “heard” the true value of Naira is 1k to a dollar.

Another one said there’s difference between supporting and defending currency value.

All through PDP 16 years and Buhari’s 8 years, I don’t remember anytime I heard that phrase. “Naira finding its true value”

Tinubu did not form APC. APC is a party that was founded by 37 founding members which Tinubu and ElRufai were part of.

Tinubu cannot dare make any statement that he made El Rufai or made him governor. El Rufai became governor largely to the influence of Buhari in the 2015 elections.
