I've tried so much not to comment on political issues on Nairaland especially during this election time, but this morning I can't help but to comment. Why will any sane human believe that form is from INEC? Will INEC make such forms public? Buhari has so many people behind him even if truly he is an illiterate as most of you have said, do you think he will not give the form to someone else to fill? What I feel is all anti-GMB are just coming up with unnecessary propaganda.

Give us genuine reasons we should not vote Buhari and vote your GEJ instead. At least he has spent 6 years, his performances within his 6 years of leadership should be enough to speak for him. If you can't, then you've got problems. I wasn't born during the time of Buhari but I have been convinced he is a better candidate than Johathan. If you feel Johathan is better, convince us with facts not with all these cheap propaganda.

Before you think I'm a paid APC supporter, Ask Jmaine or Ilugunboy about me or check my previous comments
This form is publicly displayed on the board of INEC office in Abuja. So there is nothing confidential about it. Beside is there any information on it that is confidential? Do you know how many people that has the phone number of Fashola?

PoliticsApc Chieftain, Danjuma Goje Presents Fake Medical Report To Avoid Efcc Trial by shift15(op): 10:19am On Jan 12, 2015
The trial at the Federal High Court Gombe, of the former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje, being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on charges bordering on conspiracy and money laundering, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 stalled as the defence sought for an adjournment citing his ill health.

The EFCC counsel, Wahab Shittu, who wondered that the accused person was healthy enough to attend political rallies but too sick to attend his trial, opposed the application for adjournment, arguing that the medical report was forged.

He said, "The medical report does not bear the name of the doctor that signed it, and no official stamp is on it.”

Goje who is standing trial before Justice Babatunde Quadri, along with three others, was not in court.

His counsel, Adeniyi Akintola (SAN), while presenting a medical report, which he said emanated from the National Assembly Clinic, cited ill-health as the reason for the absence of his client.

He said, "I appeal to the EFCC counsel to accept the adjournment because the first accused person has never been absent in court except today, and he deserves to be respected as the immediate past Governor of the state, and a serving senator.”

He argued further that Sections 122 and 130 of the Criminal Procedure Act states that when an accused on bail is absent in court, the surety must appear to furnish the court with necessary information but in this instance, both the accused and surety were not in court.

The case has however been adjourned till March 17 and 18, 2015 for continuation of hearing.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Promises Allowances For Unemployed Youth Corp Members And More. by shift15(m): 5:25pm On Jan 05, 2015
FrankC3:
APC candidates for the presidential elections are economic illiterates. They do not understand the implication of certain things they say. I say so because of the funny promises they make:

1. A Buhari government will rechannel subsidy savings to feeding primary school pupils across the 36 states of the Federation. How? Is it even the responsibility of the FG to take over primary education and not to intervene via UBE? Where will this fund come from?

2. APC government will go for full privatization of the power sector by selling off the TCN. Really? Do they even understand why the TCN was retained? And what is the weakest links in the power chain of this country? Generation, transmission or distribution? Some experts define strategy as maximizing the utility you derive from your potentials. How strategic is privatizing the TCN, meaning that the entire power grid is in the hands of the foreigners. What happens to National security and how will this policy produce immediate turn around at the distribution end when the generating capacity is not even enough for the existing installed capacity of the transmission infrastrucuture?

3. Paying 5000NGN to former NYSC members. This is even very funny. How do you generate this extra fund? How much economic sense does this make when placed side by side with productive financing initiatives like Graduate Internship Scheme or the YOUWIN?

I think Buhari and the APC are very focused on consumption of the national resources, no ideas on how to build up. What happens if the oil production plummets? On one hand, they talk about socialism while on the other hand, they talk about capitalism. I am really getting confused as to their economic position. What is their position of national debt, how much debt is ok for us? They seem not to even understand the problem. How exactly can they hit the ground running?
To buttress your point, the economic side of his manifesto is very worrisome to any forward thinker.
In the first instance, his Welfare Scheme Programme will add about #1.5 trillion to our recurrent expenditure.
That of the NYSC allowance will add another #380 Billion to our recurrent expenditure.
That means we will have additional recurrent expenditure of #1.89 Trillion in our budget.
How do we cope in an economy that currently have higher recurrent and capital and the change that some people are proposing is higher recurrent.

PoliticsBusted: Female Aspirant Fooled Apc Leadership With False Pdp Ticket Claim by shift15(op): 4:22am On Dec 31, 2014
Indication emerged last night that Ms. Aisha Osori who defected to All Progressive Congress on Tuesday lied about winning Abuja/Bwari House of Representatives ticket to curry favour from leadership of her new party, APC.

Osori who contested alongside four other aspirants for the ticket of Abuja/Bwari Federal Constituency under the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP during its December 6thprimary election on secured 14 votes out of 107 votes while the incumbent reprensentative of the constituency Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo polled 87 votes to emerged the flag-bearer of PDP in the coming election.

Ms. Osori had shortly after the election of Hon. Jisalo congratulated him and was quoted by Voice of Nigeria to have said, "Ahh, of course not, everybody wants to win but I think the process was very free and fair and that’s very encouraging for people who want to participate in politics”.

However analyst were surpised that "she would tell a bare faced lie to the leadership of APC in order to incur favour”.

A chieftain of APC and governorship hopeful of the party in Kaduna, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai had gone on his Facebook to celebrate Ms. Osori defection without the knowledge of her false claim.

PoliticsApc Shift Primary To Benin To Favour Buhari by shift15(op): 1:26pm On Dec 02, 2014
Strong indication emerged yesterday that the presidential convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been shifted from Abuja to Benin. There are no reason given for this sudden change by our source but it may not be unconnected with the rising profile of one of its flag-bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar.

It will be recall that Alhaji Atiku recently got endorsement from delegates from Borno and Yobe States. There are also indications that Bauchi, Taraba and Gombe States delegates will adopt Alhaji Atiku ahead of the Presidential Primary schedule for December 10.

Although the leadership of the party has earlier concluded plans to hold its presidential primaries/convention in Abuja but was later changed due to what our source called ‘non-availability of Eagle Square due to PDP primary and unfavourable disposition of security agents to APC.

All aspirants of the party, except General Muhammadu Buhari insisted on holding the party primary in Abuja. General Buhari who is an ally of Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole was in Benin recently to commission some of the governor’s projects.

However, presidential aspirants on APC except Gen. Buhari also rejected the list of delegates from Lagos. The aspirants alleged that Lagos delegates list consist of LCDA which are not recognised under the Nigeria constitution.

Some people will never see anything good in Fayose because of their hypocrisy.
When Fashola reduced school fees, they praised him for being a 'listening and compassionate governor.'
When Amosun sensing that the defeat of Fayemi will have ripple effect on him slashed down the tuition, he was hailed.
A man promised during his election and he fulfiled the promise to those he made it to, some people here are hating.
PoliticsIgp Refused To Recognise Tambuwal As Speaker by shift15(op):
The House of Representative Committee on Police Affairs was forced to adjourn following the refusal of the Inspector-General of Police Sulaimon Abba to recognise the Speaker of House of Representatives as the substantive Speaker. The IGP who referred to threat by Governor Rotimi Amaechi that the opposition party will form a parallel government and the unruly behaviour of members of opposition during what the opposition party APC called ‘Peace Rally’ as the reason for beefing up security around the National Assembly.

He however, apologise to those who were affected by the incident in which police used ‘tear-gas’ on some members of National Assembly while he condemned the man-handling of his men during the fracas.

In his submission to the committee, Abba said, ‘one Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal led some group of people to bridge the security measure put in place by the police’. The committee members however insisted that the IGP address the speaker properly. The IGP refused saying doing so will be prejudicial as the case of Speakership is before the court.

PoliticsApc Plans To Destabilize Nigeria-pdp by shift15(op): 5:43pm On Nov 25, 2014
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will no longer condone the deliberate, unwarranted and sustained vicious attacks on the person and office of the President, the institutions of democracy and the threat to unity of the nation by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

PDP National Publicity, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Tuesday said the PDP will no longer fold its hands while the desperate desire of the APC for power unchains undisciplined impulses and actions posing a threat to the very survival of democracy and the nation. The statement reads;

"The PDP has been watching carefully as the rank and file of the APC, the governors, party leaders, presidential hopefuls and even sidekicks run amok, competing in a heavily subjective castigation of President Goodluck Jonathan with incendiary utterances, signposting its plans for the dastardly when it loses in next year’s general elections.

"However, patriotism, the cardinal value of our great party, indeed, the price of our custodianship of the mandate of over 160 million Nigerians calls for vigilance, maturity and responsibility, hence our restraints in the face of the Unclad lies and recklessness of the APC.

"We had thought that the silver hair of its top leaders would caution the thoughtless delinquency of its youngsters. Unfortunately, the recklessness of the old is in competition with the imprudence of the young. What a shame the APC has turned’’, the statement said.

Our decent political campaigns focusing on the achievements of our party at various levels of government should have served as a pointer to the APC on the need to maintain political decorum and primacy of national interest in the build-up to the forthcoming elections. It is however unfortunate that the APC has refused to shed its penchant for lies, deceit, propaganda, violence and blackmail as the center piece of their agenda and message to Nigerians.

This disposition has led the APC to work in cahoots with the enemies of Nigeria in an attempt to wreck our democracy and throw the nation into chaos, hence the urgency of the need to warn that ‘enough is now enough."

We know that the aim of the APC is to set the stage for violence, instill fear in Nigerians, discourage them from actively participating in the electoral process thereby giving room for them to perpetrate all manners of electoral malpractices (as evidenced by their cloning of the Permanent Voters Cards) which is the only way they may hope to achieve political power in Nigeria. This position is reinforced by their constant threat to cause violent pandemonium when they lose the elections.

Recall that today's leaders of the APC had while contesting on different platforms in 2011, issued such threats and went ahead to precipitate an unprecedented electoral violence in which hundreds of innocent Nigerians lost their lives, yet, the same election was adjudged by local and international observers as the most credible in our recent history”

"One must then ask. Is violence and inflammatory statements the manifesto of the APC? Is plotting against the oneness of the nation the party's article of faith? Is the never-ending attempt to ridicule the highest office in the land a credo and an explanation of the alternative the APC is flaunting? Nigerians may recall that on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Ilorin, Kwara State, the APC leaders with their Governors, converging for their usual revelry and self-indulging insults, delegated themselves and self-styled national leader to take stupidity to its apogee by asking President Jonathan to resign.

"On November 19, APC leaders unfurled the much pinched wrap by declaring that they would lead a rebellion against President Jonathan and install a parallel government should APC lose next year's presidential election. In less than 24hours, the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun on November 21, on a live NTA morning programme, admitted that the APC knew what he called genuine leaders of Boko Haram and went childish by accusing the President of deliberately allowing insurgents take over the country”.

The PDP statement further expressed concern that the warning last week by security experts that some opposition leaders may be planning to intensify mayhem against Nigerians to justify their only campaign point, which is insecurity, may not be unrelated to the increased spate of bombings following the declaration of President Jonathan to contest the 2015 presidential election.

It also said that one of the deductions Nigerians would easily make from the unfolding scenario is that the APC has neither an agenda nor an issue to offer. "Nigerians have waited for too long for the APC's roadmap with convention after convention ( two in less than a month) producing only humbug, claptrap and a regurgitation of worn- out, anachronistic clichés.

"It is therefore clear that the APC is not preparing for elections, rather actively planning to scheme itself into power in 2015 using violent uprising as replacement for peaceful polls

"Nevertheless, we wish to assure all Nigerians that the PDP is not willing to kowtow the APC in this road to infamy but will remain focused in jealously protecting the interest of the nation while serving and confidently campaigning and marketing its manifesto to Nigerians," the party said.
