PoliticsThis Dress Caused South African Lawmaker Trouble: What Is Wrong With The Dress? by shift15(op): 11:11pm On Apr 04, 2015
When Ms. Jane Moloisi-Sithole, left her house on Tuesday morning, she must have looked into the mirror and felt satisfied in her new black gown. But little did the beautiful deputy leader of Mpumalanga legislature knew that her dress will cause her to be tagged ‘Prostitute’ on the floor of the parliament.

On Tuesday, Moloisi-Sithole colleagues in Mpumalanga provincial legislature were tasked with answering oral questions. One query was put regarding growing concern over the prevalence of drugs and prostitution in Witbank.

Debate on the issue started, but shortly afterwards, an ANC parliamentarian Vusimuzi Windvoël raised a point of order. He hinted that there was an MP present who was dressed like the people under discussion; that is the prostitutes.

Speaker Thandi Shongwe asked to whom he was referring. Windvoël replied that he meant DA Mpumalanga deputy leader Jane Moloisi-Sithole. Speaker Shongwe laughed, duly inspected Moloisi-Sithole – and then sided with the ANC MP.

She ordered members to dress "formally” and "traditional”, warning them against displays of cleavage. Addressing Moloisi-Sithole, the Speaker requested her to "put on your scarf”.

When DA leader in the legislature Anthony Benadie attempted to remonstrate with her, Speaker Shongwe replied that what Windvoël said was "proper”.

"I was expecting her to call [Windvoël] to order,” Moloisi-Sithole siad. "If the Speaker had objected [to my dress] from the beginning, maybe I would have thought she had a point.

Moloisi-Sithole says she found Shongwe’s response doubly confounding because on a previous occasion, Shongwe had instantly reprimanded an EFF MP who made an insulting comment about the dress of a female ANC MP.

"I was shocked by the response of the Speaker, to agree that I am dressed like a prostitute,” Moloisi-Sithole said. "I think her judgment got clouded completely. What is there to cover up?”

As you should be able to make out from the photograph, the dress that caused all the problems displays no cleavage.

SportsOpinion: With Jonathan Out Of Office; What Is Keshi Waiting For? by shift15(op): 1:39pm On Apr 04, 2015
A change at the summit of Nigerian politics means that the Big Boss has no reason to remain at the helm of the national team.

I have always been a fan of Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.

Right from his days at St Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos, and when his brother Emmanuel and I were classmates at Edo College, Benin City, I always had a soft spot for him.

Then, his school team that included the likes of Henry Nwosu and co. had just returned from a victorious outing at the world secondary school football championship. They came calling at Ogbe Stadium and my school team (that was being prepared to follow in their footsteps in the next edition of the competition) had a pulsating 3-3 draw with them.

I knew Nigeria had a crop of young men that would shake the world.

That was in 1978.

He and Nwosu were to later come to Benin. While Keshi was fully with the New Nigeria Bank football club, Nwosu, though an employee of the same club, also doubled as a student at Eghosa Grammar School, where he was to re-write his WAEC exams.

Ever since, beyond his peers, Keshi has remained a recurrent decimal in the Nigerian football firmament. The climax was winning the Nations Cup as coach of the Super Eagles in 2013 in faraway South Africa. While the rest of the country celebrated, some people sulked…and bided their time.

Then a trip to Brazil for the Confederations Cup and the World Cup as coach of the Nigerian National team all placed Keshi in a class of his own amongst Nigerian, nay, African coaches.

However, since the end of the World Cup, things have fallen apart for Keshi.

Before now, I wrote a piece for Goal Nigeria in which I wondered aloud why he didn’t do himself a favour by walking away when the ovation was loudest.

I could understand the patriotic fervour that might have informed his decision to return and handle the national team on an ad-hoc basis for the 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers pending the appointment of a substantive coach, but I did say then that with the election (or selection) of Amaju Pinnick as NFF President, Keshi ought to have known that his days as the man to run things at the Super Eagles were numbered.

Then after two loses and a win, he was sacked by a board that hadn’t even given him an appointment in the first place, before that board was over-ruled by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Since the end of the qualifiers and the subsequent Nations Cup, Keshi has continued to hang around Abuja like a stranded man making himself look so cheap and hapless before a board that obviously doesn’t want him, but for their own personal survival couldn’t tell him so because of the President that once over-ruled them.

I am appalled, to put it mildly, that Keshi could so cheapen himself before people who still parade many men who have never forgiven him for winning the Afcon against all their calculations and returning home to a hero’s welcome. I am more appalled that he has managers and legal advisers that appear bereft of ideas on how they can move the career of their client forward.

My friend and brother Keshi, in case none of those green-eyed men whom you’ve given the impression that you are at their mercy have not had the nerves to look you in the face to tell you, I know enough that, apart from your regular traducers, many of your well-wishers like Pa Festus Onigbinde, Christian Chukwu, Henry Nwosu, Joe Erico etc. have told you and I will join them now to tell you as a friend and a brother: Please Stephen, God has been very gracious to you, just call and book an appointment with Felix Anyasi and together with him see Amaju Pinnick and at a very convivial and conducive atmosphere, thank them for giving you the opportunity to serve but also tell them that at this point in time, you would want to move on.

Please move on now with whatever little respect you still have left because the longer you hang around there, the more some people will feel thrilled to no end in seeing you comprehensively diminished.

I don’t know what you’ve been waiting for, but I can assure you that with Jonathan now on his way back to Otuoke, your traducers have you on your back.

In fact, one of them, an old boy of your alma mater, perhaps speaking the mind of some of his colleagues on the board, threatened to resign the day your appointment is ratified by the board!

So what else do you need to see or be told before you know you have overstayed your welcome by this NFF?

But Stephen, if you would undertake a few updating programs here and there, and do one or two things differently with any opportunity you have again, you still have many more cups ahead of you to lift as coach!

Mark my words.

And goodbye my friend.

PoliticsObama Hails Iran Nuclear Agreement, Says Its 'historic' by shift15(op): 11:31am On Apr 03, 2015
President Barack Obama has praised a framework nuclear agreement with Iran as "historic," saying if fully implemented it will make the world safer and cut off Tehran's path to a bomb.

The deal reached Thursday between Iran and six world powers followed eight days of intensive talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, and sets the stage for a final agreement to be completed by June 30.

Speaking from the White House, President Obama heralded the agreement as "a good deal that meets our core objectives."

"This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran will face strict limitations on its program, and Iran has also agreed to the most robust and intrusive inspections and transparency regime ever negotiated for any nuclear program in history," he said.

The deal also received praise in Tehran, where hundreds of Iranians took to the streets, honking their car horns and waving flags, amid fresh hopes the country's international isolation would soon end.

Under the deal, Iran will receive relief from international sanctions in exchange for cutting back its uranium enrichment program, which the West has long feared could be used to make a nuclear weapon.

Iran's breakout time, the minimum amount required to produce a nuclear bomb, will be extended "to at least one year, for a duration of 10 years," according to a U.S. fact sheet. The breakout time is currently estimated to be two to three months.

Tehran also agreed to reduce by about two-thirds the amount of its installed uranium enrichment centrifuges. "Iran will go from having about 19,000 installed today to 6,104 installed under the deal, with only 5,060 of these enriching uranium for 10 years," according to the fact sheet.

The deal requires Iran to neutralize much of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. U.N. nuclear inspections will be boosted. The Fordo underground nuclear facility will be converted so that it cannot enrich uranium. Iran also agreed to redesign its Arak reactor to not produce weapons-grade plutonium.

This week's negotiations lasted two days longer than originally planned, casting doubt on whether an agreement could be reached. Even after the deal, signs emerged suggesting that a final, comprehensive pact would be difficult to clinch.

Late Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif complained about the U.S. issuing its own summary of the agreement. "The solutions are good for all, as they stand. There is no need to spin using 'fact sheets' so early on," he said via Twitter.

President Obama also stressed that many key details of the deal will be finalized over the next three months, saying "nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed." He also warned that "if Iran violates the deal, sanctions can be snapped back into place."

Obama also used his White House Rose Garden speech to lash out at his critics in Congress who are opposed to the deal.

"The issues at stake here are bigger than politics," he said. "These are matters of war and peace, and they should be evaluated based on the facts and what is ultimately best for the American people and for our national security," he said.

Republican lawmakers have repeatedly threatened to pass new sanctions against Iran, a move Iran says would kill any deal. If this happens, Obama said, "then it's the United States that will be blamed for the failure of diplomacy."

The president also said he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is one of the biggest opponents of the nuclear talks. White House officials say Obama told Netanyahu that significant progress was made in cutting off Iran's path to a bomb. Israeli officials say the prime minister told the U.S. leader that the deal would "threaten the survival of Israel."

Iran has repeatedly said that it is not interested in building a nuclear bomb, and the country's Islamic leaders have issued rulings banning such weapons. But the moves have been unable to persuade Western critics who say certain elements of Iran's nuclear program have no clear non-weapons-related utility.

PoliticsInec Officials Brought Governorship Ballot Paper For Presidential Poll In Keffi by shift15(op): 6:18pm On Mar 28, 2015
A mild drama played out today at Tundun Wada, an outskirt of Keffi, Nasarawa State when officials of Independent National Electoral Commission brought to the polling unit gubernatorial election ballot papers instead of the Presidential.
The official that arrived early started the accreditation of voters without checking details of the ballot papers brought to the polling unit.
The official on discovering had to go back to INEC headquaters to get new ballot paper.
However, voting commenced at the polling unit around 5:40pm and may extend into the night.

PoliticsRe: Insight: Why Nigeria's Restive Oil Region Will Only Accept Jonathan - YAHOO NEWS by shift15(m): 4:20pm On Mar 22, 2015
egift:
On resource control: Buhari have consistently said the more Federal Powers in Abuja should be seeded to States (Jonathan have never said it, not even passively). Buhari is a big proponent of having Federal, State and Community Police with varying degree of Jurisdictions. The Penal Code and Police Act will be streamlined to accommodate such restructuring. (It is not in Jonathan's purview). Buhari has consistently stated that ND region needs clean-up and we should refine locally to satisfy local consumption of petroleum products. He promised his administration will build 4 new refineries and revamp the existing ones.

On Self Determination: While every human has the right to do whatever he likes, it does not change the fact that it is a treasonable offense in Nigeria to try splitting this nation. Today in Enugu, under Jonathan, some members of Biafra Zionist Group are detained and on trial. During the civil war, over 2million Ndigbo died (I also lost a sister in that war). So instead of beating up your rusty chest and threatening to sink Nigeria, how about we spend that energy empowering Nigerians, proving good governance and build a peaceful society?

While this election should have been a time to Nigeria to ask the candidates to outline and explain their plans moving forward, Jonathan and his PDP believe the best thing is to attack the person of Buhari. Spend billions smearing his name. Emptying the content of his Military records. Demonizing him, redefining him and misrepresenting the truth about his person.

Am glad APC has maintained and issue-based campaign, while the Jonathan has executed the worst hate campaign in the history of Nigeria against a poltical opponent.

Nigerians cannot reward such. We refuse to be an appendage of Failure, just so that Jim Agbaje and co will not ask their boys to sabotage Nigeria's Economy. #TeamChange.
Your explanation on resource control is wrong. Resource Control is not the same as restructuring of our Federalism.
What you spoke about is restructure of Federalism.
However, even at that, Buhari has never at any time make commitment to what you wrote. And APC has never speak about convening Sovereign National Conference so don't misinform people. Stick to what you hear from Buhari and not some concocted opinion.

Lies!

They should give a breakdown of how the £14m was spent and where the money came from.

The United Kingdom was the government that secured Ibori's conviction (he broke UK's AML &BC laws) and he is currently being jailed at the expense of UK taxpayers like myself, so I don't understand how EFCC would have spent £14m to "convict" Ibori. Bunch of liars!

If they claim to have spent that much, then how much did UK's government spend to secure the conviction of Ibori, his lawyer (who helped in concealing the funds), his wife and his mistress? undecided

I expect Ibori to be tried and convicted by a competent court in Nigeria and then sent to a Nigerian prison for Bribery, Corruption and Money Laundering. Only then can EFCC boast of spending any money on his "conviction". angry

But because the enemies within wanted a slip from Buhari at all cost, they have been jumping on top of

From this saga, the following observations become imperative:
1.A media house can authenticate a story sometimes with available pix if they cant readily get an'on d scene pix.'
2.The first set of London pix uploaded by Buhari group
was d Twitter upload by Bukola Saraki. that was d group pix with Tony Blair.(perhaps dat was taken in Abuja too!)
3.Mr Tony Blair London office has since confirmed there

4. All media houses dat used d pix of d said interview

5. One may not write off d possibility of complicity between Guardian newspaper and Fayose to use d pic to embarrass Buhari. This is Nigeria. Fayose was d first Nigerian to identify d very hotel room where d pix was taken. He is my state governor who is an ardent mischief maker. He can do it.
6. Even if Buhari actually went for treatment. Could it b out of place to seek medical check up after d gruelling campaigns across the country? Has a much younger GEJ or 'There ris God ooo' not gone for medical check up abroad a number of times before?
7.When has politics becomes trailing your opponents to

8. Left for Buhari, replying this campaigns of calumny is
like dignifying paper weight opportunists like Fani

9. I am not a politician or a member of any political party

In an attempt to discredit him,PDP ignorantly forced many neutrals like me to like him daily.

This your post exposed the Buhari Campaign Organisation as clueless and inefficient. What is the work of his media organisation if not to debunk every negative claims with proven, incontrovertible evidence? What does it take to upload 2 minutes video of Buhari on Youtube eating or exercising. Considering the effect such will have? What does it take to organize for him to talk to people at London Townhall meeting through Skype? What does it take to join discussion on Sunrise Daily through skype for just 3 minutes?

Buhari's handlers are very myopic and unprofessional they only depend on sentiment, sympathy, lies and propaganda to sell their principal. Unfortunately, while these can take you far, it can never sustain you.

All that PDP needed to do to expose him is to just look for the video of that horrible 1 hour GMB Means Business and play it over and over for Nigerians to see who APC is presenting forward. You will be shocked at the result. It was a disaster outing. A minus for him. Cogent questions were not answered. He admitted he is not the one that prepared his speech and possibly was he was seeing the speech for the very first time. He only appeal to sentiment and that does not work with business people.
He should have done what GEJ did with OPS in Lagos, bring out the best men in your team, spend qualitative time with them and bring out facts and projections. He failed to do that. Mind you he is suppose to be addressing people that employ over 1000 people, control the economy and drive national growth. He is suppose to be addressing banking CEOs, oil and gas giants, manufacturing mogul. These are the members of OPS and not some people who failed in running a simple BankPHB like Pat Utomi.
PoliticsRe: Muhammadu Buhari Live – How Impressed Was I ? by shift15(m): 7:27am On Feb 03, 2015
Unfortunately, while the op can be excited by GMB Means Business, no single OPS operator will be impressed by his presentation.
To start with, in an OPS event like that, someone like the op will not even near the gate of the venue.
No one in that meeting, apart from Mr. Folorunsho Philips employs more than 200 people.
Question asked by genuine Operators that were there was not answered or ridiculed. For instance some asked who is going to head his economic team since it was obvious that he will not be in charge. He did not answer.
Another asked what change do the OPS expected in some of the current government policy. He was ridiculed by the sycophants there.
Another asked, since the current government has MSME funds, how will APC administer its own fund if at all it has such as plan. He did not answer. People were not allowed to ask question about deregulation of oil sector, PPP, privatisation, electricity reforms, housing reform, stock exchange, devaluation of Naira, allocation of oil blocks, banning of imported items, taxation, waivers, gas reform and other major economic sector that the OPS invest in. His handlers hurriedly took him away. Next is Fashola appealing to sentiment of people. Are OPS operators father Christmas?
Yet he go around shouting he will create employment, how will he create employment?

Speedracer001:
What was clear from GMB interaction with Business Leaders in Lagos this morning was his honesty. And that is his strongest accent of attraction.
He made a very detailed economic speech that he HONESTLY submitted was simply a regurgitation of what his handlers presented to him to read. My favourite line - Corruption has become a working capital in Nigeria lol.

The main takeaway from the session in my view is the fact, as postulated by him, that so much more was done in the early late 70's and early 80's with a fraction of the revenue that subsequent governments have enjoyed. That is caused by CORRUPTION!

You might not like Buhari, you might not vote for him but listening to him, i come away with the impression that this really isn't about him. It is about the country!

I don't expect him to have a magic wand to solve all of Nigeria's problems. But i do know, he will give it a damn good shot at it!

Things just have to change and the CHANGE must start from the TOP!
The real issue is that he is not in touch with present day reality. The OPS will not support such a man that could not give in detail what he will want to change. He avoided most of the questions asked by genuine employer of labour in the audience.
His admittance that the speech he read was not written by him, honest admission, he gave an impression that he will not be in charge of running the economy. That was what necessitated the question about who will head his economic team. This he did not answer.
Some people are insinuating that the economic team will be headed by Taminu Yakubu Kurfi. Alhaji Kurfi will be a disaster for our economy. His working with Yar'Adua dragged our economy backward. He has the opportunity to put that to rest, but rather he goofed.
Mr. Folusho Philips asked him what kind of sectoral change should be expected from his administration. He brushed it aside. A woman asked about the SME loans currently being administered by FG and if he will continue with it or what his modality will be in administering it. He blabbed about continuity and said his change will be slow in assessing the loan.

You know what, if I am in President Jonathan campaign team, I will get the tape of that session and re-play it over and over again on NTA and other media. The session is self destruct for GMB. It exposed GMB. Unfortunately, the reaction of his handlers such as Fayemi and El-Rufai showed clearly that they are selling to us a bad product which they packaged well and were confirming within themselves whether their product is saying the right thing or not.

However, don't forget, this is organised by APC with over 70% audience APC members.
