Business / Re: ATM in Nigeria by Shinor(m): 2:23pm On May 25, 2006
Propre you highlighted what would happen in every "normal" situation. It didn't need a damning report to show that banks had no business running ATM machines. Last christmas i was faced with the same problems experienced by some of the contributors on this page the "OUT OF ORDER" ATM's.
This led me to quickly take a short study on how ATM's are managed here in the UK. I realised there were dedicated maintenance companies who either offered 1st Level service or second level service.
Brothers if only our banks will open up and be transparent, the maintenance part of the ATM's will generate new business and income for a new group of entrepreneurs.
I will be in the country (Lagos) from the 3rd of june until the 15th of june 2006. Lets hook up and discuss further
Music/Radio / Re: 2Face Lyrics Stolen From Faze Of Plantation Boys? by Shinor(m): 1:58pm On May 25, 2006
Whey ya seh Jah Shaka!
Nuff respec for dat piece. I dont want to sound critical of my fellow nigerian brothers for whom i have the biggest respec. You have hit the nail on the head, TUFACE should have started exploiting his commercial abilities by now. Fashion line, Tv programme( people say he cant speak english, but i think he has a rapport with the crowd) they can do a TV programme that will be built around him. How about being an ambassador for UNICEF or any other UN body? He has done a chart topping song about African Women so why can't he front an anti female genital mutilation body or set up his own NGO? I have worked in the past with a few Jamaican artistes, Buju Banton own Operation Willy(AIDS AWARENESS NGO), Bob Marley's kids run a massive rasta colour clothes line. They are not better than any of our Nigerian artistes. I recently designed a TV talent show with TUFACE in mind called"Let 2Face Judge" where wannabe contestants come to sing in front of 2Face and he says whether they are good enough or not.
Its all just marketing and this is what brings in the extra cash, endorsements. Do you know that Tiger Woods cannot be seen outside without wearing something that has NIKE on it? That deal is worth US D $20million.
I first got to know about this years ago when i did a bit of work with a group called MUSICAL YOUTH(remember Pass de Doutchie?). They had a deal with Nike too in the early 80's. I got a few NIKE trainers too.
So what we lack in Nigeria is PROPER ARTISTE MANAGEMENT. Going everywhere with an artiste is not artiste management. Organising Concerts is not artiste management(leave that to concert promoters) but unfortunately our friends at KENNIS dont seem to care. Or how do you explain in this day and age the lack of a fully functional website for a company like KENNIS? So if i want to buy CD's of any of their artistes and i dont live in Nigeria where do i go?
If KENNIS lack a website dont expect their artistes to have one. So all those in the house who want to go in to artiste management rise up. Am actually thinking about it though and i will be in lagos from the 3rd of June until the 21st to discuss with some artistes with a view of signing some artsistes.

Let's just say all members of plantashun boyz are very talented in their own individual ways. What we want is to see more Nigerian acts go on to the world stage and get awards that are befitting. Music is a weapon and We can use it to good effect.
When i look at the array of talented people in this country, I FEEL PROUDLY NIGERIAN.
Business / Re: Walmart In Nigeria by Shinor(m): 12:18pm On May 18, 2006
Wal Mart in Nigeria is not so much of a big deal. What i fear is the future of our small retailers- the Iya Onikiri and mallam ciga kiosks. As you are well aware, our economy is still being largely driven by these small contributors. The emergence of the likes of wal Mart/ TESCO(UK) is already affecting the fortunes of the corner shops in the developed world. I wonder what it would do in Nigeria.
Business / Re: Customer Service In A Nigerian Business by Shinor(m): 9:07pm On May 16, 2006
We accept that customer service currently available in Nigeria cannot be compared with what is offered abroad. Unfortunately as the world continues to integrate and businesses merge and relocate, Nigeria is becoming a player willingly or not and the big corporations that will be doing business with Nigerians will demand for the same kind of service that is obtainable in the developed world.
Training is key and the sooner Nigerian companies agree that customer service is instrumental to their overall success, the better it will be for their profits.
by the way i ama customer service training cosultant and have been running the "Achieving Excellence in Customer service" course for sometime now all over Europe. So if you know any companies in Nigeria that can do with out business let me know.
