@odunnu Thanks. Students are too quick to draw the blame card. My NGO works with recent graduates to better their chances of landing josb in the ever volatile job market. Sad to see graduates who cannot string a CV together. We offered free CV help and Interview techniques training via a post in the education section. Only two people responded. Quite a number of students / graduates these days are "bum" lazy. Excuse my French |
@mafolayomi Have you tried Jesus Yet? Remember they say Jesus Saves. But I don't which bank has his savings account details |
The Greenhorn Foundation is a charity operating from it's base in the United Kingdom with a particular focus on reaching young people all over Africa with a particular bias for Nigeria being the continent's most populous nation. The foundation was set up in 2010 as a response to the lack of opportunities for the young graduates across Africa to receive proper career guidance and counselling and the necessary skills to make them marketable upon graduation and to prepare them for life after school. What this situation has brought about is mass of unskilled graduates roaming African cities armed with pieces of paper which most employers simply term worthless. To stem the tide, The Greenhorn Foundation came into being to mentor, and train students, recent graduates and young people all over Africa with the sole desire of helping them make the right choices and commitment with regards to choosing a career and getting groomed and ready for life after graduation. We strongly believe in the saying that the youths are future leaders and we believe that by investing in them today, we are empowering the future. From time to time, we will be carrying out a series of programmes on line designed for our target audience. In the new year, we will be looking at topics such as CV writing, Interview Techniques, and some basic Customer Service training. We have some very seasoned professionals working with us who have prepared a lot of the materials we would be using for these training. Mentorship. The aim of our mentorship programme is to help young people organize their lifestyle with a view to maximizing their God given talents and potentials. In the new year, we will open our doors to new people who would like to come under our mentorship programme. If this initiative interests you, please feel free to contact us stating your name, age, qualification and email greenhorn.foundation@gmail.com. In order to reach more people and keep our costs low, nearly all our contact and training will be done on line. And all our programmes on line are absolutely free. If you like this, spread the word amongst your friends, family members. Thank You. GREENHORN FOUNDATION IS NOT A RECRUITMENT AGENCY AND THEREFORE DO NOT MAKE JOB OFFERS. May his soul rest in Peace. |
Shooting Stars should do well. Kano Pillars have a reputation that they hardly loose at home. Lets see Shooting put that to the test. I can see only 4 or 5 people have commented. If it's Arse or Manure, they thread would have been invaded by armchair pundits and self appointed authoritative analysts. |
Hi Sholeyb Can we meet to talk about your finishing school idea? |
She needs to fully understand the variants that make up her constituency especially the youths |
Naija as a term reffering to Nigeria, was adopted by the youths of this country to show their undying love for their fatherland and their unwavering belief in it's eventual emergence as the true leader that she is. The same youths are the driving force of any nation - the real power block. Maybe that power needs to be unleashed by starting a campaign to remove Dora Akinwahatever as a Minister. This country deserves better. Dora Must Go, Start a new thread and sign up if you think she has outlived her usefulness |
Hi. Yes if you log on to www.africaretail.com They take debit cards. But I think they only do UK stores. Anyway log on to check. |
Thanks honeric01. Been waiting for such news. Its about time we started to talk about our own. We don't have to wait for the big newspapers/ TV channels. We can do it starting from NL. When I see the way our people worship managers like Arsene Wenger I am at a loss. His style is not new neither is it revolutionary. The late Abdullahi Bebe who coached Stationary Stores to League victory in 1991 adopted the same style. Starved of transfer funds, he opened the doors to young players such as Akeem Ogunlade who at 18 was one of the youngest if not the youngest to captain a league winning side in our footballing history. It's about time we celebrate our own. With all the noise about a collapsed economy in Zimbabwe, the local sides such as Caps United still draw a full house whenever they play. And yes they watch the EPL in Zimbabwe. Same thing in Kenya. There's still major rivalry amongst the local sides despite the large following generated by the EPL. Even the EPL is not perfect. It took over 100 years of football in the UK to get to where they are today. Let us start restructuring our football. The change that we all talk about, that we all so desire, starts with YOU. |
People, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I tire. |
Try www.africaretail.com you can order the stuffs from reputable UK retailers via africaretail. |
I am looking for a freelance journalist to write articles on Sports especially football. This individual must know his Athletico Madrid from his Zamalek. A good understanding of the various top leagues around the world as well national teams would be an added advantage. Drop me a proof at michaeljsamuel@yahoo.co.uk |
I am seeking a freelancer to do articles on fashion trends in Nigeria for a UK based magazine aimed at the Nigerian audience. Would be a big plus if writer also knows a thing or two about the British fashion season. Drop me a proof at michaeljsamuel@yahoo.co.uk and lets see how it goes. |
I have been using www.africaretail.com to get stuff to my folks back home and it works. Never had any issues with them so I guess online shopping has definitely come to stay. Biggest advantage for me is that they also operate a full collection centre in Ghana. I have used that a few times too to get some laptops to a few people i know in Ghana. |
Just reminds me of this song quite popular in Scotland Beans Beans are good for your heart The more you eat, the more you fat |
I have followed closely most postings here and see the typical "Nigerianess" running through. Everytime someone throws up an idea, the usual response is "It can't happen here". Please spare me. If anyone had said Turai would run this country 2 years ago, the response would have been the usual Nigerian reply "It can't happen here". In Anambra, the government house was burned down and a sitting Governor removed by an erstwhile unknown God Father. If someone had postulated that thought before the incident, we would have heard "It can't happen here". Fellow countrymen, we live in a society where everyone is looking for opportunities to increase their daily food intake. If a coup should happen now, the first thing is for individuals / groups to weigh the options. If they are favoured, they will support the coup. If they feel marginalised, they will complain. A coup can happen in Nigeria. Who will stop it? Our defenceless civilians? Do we expect a 2001 graduate who is still unemployed to go and defend democracy? Just this week, some military leaders were picked up in Turkey. Anything can happen anywhere. We lack a unified spirit of patrotism needed to counter any threat to our democractic structures. As it has always been in Nigeria, it has always been Everyman for himself, God for us all. Until that changes, we remain open and vulnerable. Just my thoughts |
First of all, I think you should get a spell checker for your posts. The word is Creche and it's baby sitting. It's advice and it's also thanks a lot. Maybe then people will take you serious. I do not mean to be rude. You'll need to have an excellent location with bright and colourful interior - simply put, a baby friendly environment. Lots of toys and other educational items that can help the children settle and play. Lots of room to allow the kids wander without posing any danger to themselves and other kids. Are you trained? Trained staff on hand to assist. |
I recently met a woman who had a real phobia for using the toilet anywhere outside her home. This made me wonder if there were other women in this group? I know and agree that there are issues with regards to the possibilities of picking up germs etc from sharing loo seats. Ladies would it help you feel more comfortable if you had a portable anti bacterial germ killing spray in your bag? Something you can spray on the toilet seat before using it? |
Please fellow nairalanders I am trying to find out what will pass as good valentine's day gifts. So ladies what will you consider as a good gift from your guy And Guys what will you consider a good gift from your babe? |
Hey Friend Where art thou? Are you OK? Didn't wanna post my number on here. |
mail me at ceodaystar@yahoo.co.uk |
It depends. Wish I could upload a few pictures of my friend's shop. But unfortunately I haven't got the pictures. Whereabouts in London are you? You can get door to door quotes for as little as £3.00 per kilo. At least up to Lagos. You would only need the frames. The shelves you can always organise locally ( if you are a good artist or can take pictures). There's a magazine called Retail Weekly. Usually has details of people selling off shop fittings etc cos the shops are closing down. Get a design of the display window. And get that made for you in Nigeria. You can look at shops at the Tinapa Resort. a lot of the displays were made locally. |
Door to door shipping shouldn't. Will make enquiries on your behalf. There just might be somewhere in Nigeria to get those things. I have a friend who has a shoe shop in Lagos. Will find out where they got their shop fittings. |
Don't know when was the last time you visited Nigeria (Lagos to be specific) There are obviously a few shops built to UK standards. What you can do is buy shop fittings and ship them to Nigeria (via door to door) companies. Or just ask these shop owners who designed / and built their shops. If you visit a place like The Palms, you'll find shops similar to what you want to achieve. Like i said you might have to import the materials but you will find local guys to help you put them together. |
Calling all hard working, and charismatic entrepreneurs out there. Here's an opportunity to make 2010 a dream year for you. A UK based company is shipping out a product to be marketed in Nigeria by its Nigerian subsidiary. Its a personal hygiene product with the proven ability of helping to kill off germs which are the cause of many diseases. Would work well if you have a wide circle of friends. Can be easily be sold in church, amongst friends, corporate organisations, schools etc Resellers are required to register by submitting your names and contact details at sina@bisiolu.com Then upon the arrival of the goods, you pay for what ever amount you are comfortable with at a discount and go and sell. We have had mind boggling success with this product in Europe especially England and are looking to repeat the same level of success in Nigeria. |
Incidentally I was just speaking to a potential investor in London this morning to buy nairaland. There are three more days of meetings next week to see if they will even consider it. |
@Otukpo. I trust. You get to represent now. |
