Thanks iice-Once more to the rescue just like Superman- sorry SuperWoman. @diyobdw. Whats your email address? Thanks for your interest. |
Thanks iice. Thanks Roscodaddy! All contributions are taken on board. Thanks for taking time out to respond. |
charm01 and olagboye, yes will keep you posted betterstill let me have your email addresses. Send me a mail pls. Thanx |
This is sure taking an interesting turn. I emailed a copy of the story from Yesterday's edition of THISDAY to the company who sold the rights to Super Sports. The first response they have sent me is that it is IMPOSSIBLE TO BAN DSTV FROM SHOWING THE PREMIERSHIP IN NIGERIA. As with most things of this nature, it has now gone to their legal dept and my contact there has promised to keep me posted. They had not even heard anything to the effect until they got a copy of the story from THISDAY. Let's wait and see. |
Loverbwoy. This beyond just banning DSTV. I have been involved with football rights purchase especially for the Nigerian territory and will give you a classic example of the abuse of monopoly as exercised by DSTV. DSTV/SUPER SPORTS purchased the SATELLITE TRANSMISSION(LIVE GAMES) rights to the English premier league. They bought the rights of the HIGHLIGHTS to the premiership. They bought the LIVE GAMES rights TERRESTRIAL TRANSMISSION. But apart from the live games on DSTV they are not exercising any other rights thereby denying other companies such rights. I have particularly been interested with securing the rights to the highlights for rebroadcast on terrestrial tv. This is cheaper than Live games . But Super sports bought this right yet you cannot see premiership games on any terrestrial station in Nigeria. So why buy the rights when they had no intention of exercising it? To all contributors, do not fret or worry . You will see the premiership live and direct on your tv screens. |
@seye. Dem dey negotiate for las gidi too O. Only say when time reach make you come collect am na that time wahala go yazo. Cos you dont know what to expect. reminds me of the satelite tracking company in Lagos who traced a car to a property behind Marwa gardens recently. Old boy when dem wan go check out the place, na the whole police wey dey lagos na im dem carry go just incase na Shinor Rambo open the door. The stolen car was actually found within the premises of a respectable member of society. |
Hi Seun i will limit myself to your last question. Who is my Customer? Strangely this is usually the starting point where we begin our Customer service training course "Achieving Excellence in Customer service". As you rightly noted, if you don't know your customer(s), you can't serve them. Customers are simply those to whom you provide one form of service or another. Whether you receive revenue in return or not, is not a determinant of who your customer is. Customers are divided into internal and external customers. unfortunately, most of the time, people only limit their description of who a customer is to the external ones. For example a receptionist receives a visitor at the lobby. The visitor is there to see Mr A who works for the company. The receptionist greets the visitor properly, offers the visitor a cup of coffee, and tells the visitor Mr A will see you shortly but refuses to tell Mr A that there is a visitor waiting at the lobby for him. What is missing is that she also needs "to serve" Mr A properly by providing information as at when due. The visitor is the external customer while Mr A is the internal visitor who also requires the service of the receptionist. This is very helpful and often highlighted in organisations that run along team structures as processes are often interlinked and if one part is lacking, it affects the whole structure. |
LoverBwoy may God multiply your blessing 3times today. I actually resolved to start my training institute 3 yrs ago after receiving some eye opening revelations from attending a Gober Method course. Nna we go talk about weting we learn and how much Mary Gober charge, Hmmmmm. Infact i am still calculating after all these years. Yes we intend to open in Ghana as well. Hopefully there will be a smooth take off. Thanks . lets talk later. |
Anyone has any info on Bose Garuba? Lived in lagos and Kaduna. Attended FGGC Ogoja if i can remember rightly. Class mate of Titi Oloko, |
Customer service training is not just for call centre operatives. It cuts across nearly every sphere of business. Airline Staff, bank tellers, Store advisors, Front desk staff-hotels, security, reception etc. All these people need some sort of customer service training. So whether our call centres are outsourced or not, there's still a lot of room for people to be trained in carrying out other tasks. In Nigeria there is a general misconception that once you are a graduate, you can fit into any role without adequate training. Not true. Thats why they just employ graduates as customer service advisors in say for example banks but these people are still the most ill equipped to handle potentially volatile situations. So the courses are not just for call centre operatives in fact The Nigeria Police Force is my target client, We need to learn how to address people! |
Anything. No the one with liberata in it |
PLS any one with back issues of POWERMAN and POP? Always dreamt of getting the kind of shoes LEO AND HIS MAGIC SHOES wore when i grow up. well still waiting. The rights were actually bought by TREBOR Ltd and i think they are stored somewhere here in the UK |

@diyobdw One of our strong topics is Use of English. Have you got contact details? Betterstill mail us at MichaelJSamuel@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks |
Are you online now? |
Thanks iice. You must be damn cool to have two ii's in your spelling of ice. Anyway to the topic. Yes they will be short courses. To be quite honest, our initial appraisal for the Nigerian territory showed an absence of any kind of formal training in customer service delivery. Therefore we will be running a lot of introductory courses initially and then introduce higher level courses later. Thanks for your observation. There are call centres in Nigeria but i am yet to come across outsourced call centres which is what you find in Asia etc. In Nigeria, UBA (Bank), MTN,GLOBACOM,VMOBILE, STARCOMMS (Telecomms companies) all have call centres. There are also a few handling emergency calls on behalf the accident rescue services. Infact the only outsourced call centres i know in West Africa, are in Ghana working for an American firms. |
Nuff Respect Iyke-D and Odeku. Lets apprtoach issues pragmatically. Nigeria is Bigger than OBJ , Okonjo-Iwealla and anybody else for that matter. I don't see why we should all lose sleep over one person resigning from govt. By the way will Okonjo-Iwealla step up and explain allegations concerning receiving kickbacks for organizing our debt relief through her friends the so called"consultants"? That she wiould condescend to that level after all these years at the world bank, A beg people lef matter. May Jah send another Moses |
Pls put this in a national newspaper |
Anytime from now we plan to roll out the Customer Service Training Institute in Lagos. Its been in the pipeline for ages but vibes we were getting from the Nigerian end was not too positive. Perhaps i should throw it open to nairalanders. What do you guys think of a specialised institution offering training in the field of customer service to people who are already working in a customer oriented industry or to people who are seeking employment in that area. Our courses are quite direct and provide a clear understanding of what customer service is. While we have used this all over the UK, we are careful not import a wholly "foreign " concept that is why we have taken quite a number of "naija" factors into consideration while designing our courses. So please my brothers and sisters do you think people will sign up to do courses in Customer service? Thanks |
There are mortgages that operate the Uk style in Nigeria where all you need to do is put down a deposit (10-20%) of the cost of the property and the lenders will pay the rest. The two major problems with the Nigerian version is the rate of interest and the lenght of time for the repayment. I was offered a mortgage in June in Nigeria for a property in Abuja. The interest rate was 17% and the duration was 10 years. In Nigeria the cost of borrowing is still too high and this will impact on other areas of business. If only there could be some sort of govt intervention to reduce interest rates. This will greatly help the mortgage industry. |
It will never happen, not in the next 20 years Maggie Thatcher said the same in 1969, Her words were actually"No woman will be prime Minister in my life time", Se what happened later. |
ABUJA according to CNN's most beautiful African city competition is second after Cape Coast. So that makes Abuja No1 in West Africa. As you rightly noted, Abidjan pre war was probably the best place in west Africa but as with most things during war time, the present crises in Ivory Coast have affected social infrastructure etc. Accra and dakar will occupy second and third positions respectively. Banjul fourth while Abidjan, Freetown and Monrovia will be in the war torn categories. |
Am actually at a police desk now about to make a report about you unless you post the rest of the story. Fantastic stuff. So proud you are of the Cyprian Ekwensi, Chinua Achebe stock. A beg you write some more, Save our children from Harry Porter. If it were in those days, harry would have been stoned to death now at Yaba Bus stop. Instaed he is peddling witchcraft in the name of adventure. |
@Bosy bawo lo se mo? How did you know? ![]() |
While not wanting to bash pat Utomi, may i just add that lets go and check the man's record. He was involved with Volkswagen of Nigeria. What happened to that company? Platinum Bank is not among the first 5 banks in Nigeria. So what stands him out? To the Nigerian dream, i think it will have to be individualistic. What is your dream within the Nigerian polity? Every man will have to dream up "their dream" regarding his/her own specific situation. |
jaj jay okocha has signed a one year contract with qatari first division clubside qatar sports club. |
@Ndi Thanks for your angle. I think every other post said the obvious. Why did Nuhu Ribadu and Okiro deny arresting Adenuga? I was actually on the phone to Nigeria when the news was on in Lagos and i was getting a running commentary regarding the reporters encounter with Ribadu. Why are they denying? Are they scarred? Are they just joking? The EFCC need to come clean on this if people are to take them serious. I am one of those who believe in what the EFCC are about but incidents like this need to be better managed. |
