Religion / Re: Is There Biblical Record Of Prophets After The Death Of Jesus? by sholay2011(m): 11:49pm On Mar 07
Kobojunkie:
1. Jesus Christ NEVER did any of what you claim there. undecided

2. I am not certain what you mean I could not counter. According to the book of Numbers - Numbers 12 vs 1 - 6, a Prophet is anyone whom God spoke to through dreams and visions. What do you mean by differences in roles? undecided

3. But Jesus Christ, the one who is Himself the New Testament, NEVER instituted prophecy or the gift thereof to any of HIs followers. The only signs to follow every one of His followers are as outlined in Mark 16 vs 17 - 19 and it doesn't include prophecy — dreaming of dreams and seeing visions. So, where does this idea of yours come from since it does not come from the Gospel as given by Jesus Christ Himself? undecided

4. Again, this idea of Prophets you have in the New testament is missing from the Gospel(New Testament) of Jesus Christ. Ever wondered why? undecided

Kobojunkie:
What most people who claim to believe don't realize is that God's original plan had been to speak directly to the people of Israel Himself. But the people, too afraid, demanded that Moses speak to them on behalf of God instead.
It is for this reason that God of Israel, YHWH, set up His system of Prophets.

1. The God of Israel, YHWH, is the one who instituted the Prophet's system as part of His Old Law of Moses

2. The same God of Israel announced through Daniel that before the end of Last Days — the conclusion of His Judgment against the Nation of Israel(and Judah), He would bring to an end the time of the Prophets and visions.

3. The same God of Israel, YHWH, announced through the prophet Joel that before the end of the Last Days, He would pour out His Spirit on all young men and women in the land of Zion.

Jesus Christ was the last prophet sent by God to the people of Israel as this is noted both in the parable spoken by Jesus Christ Himself. John the Baptist was the last of the Old Covenant prophets sent by the God of Israel. Jesus Christ confirmed this Himself. All the other prophets that came after those two are a result of God pouring out His Spirit on all of the daughters and sons of Zion in the land during the same generation that the disciples lived in. This all took place about 1900 years ago. undecided
Your response is just not making sense.

The same Jesus that gave His body apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers abi? undecided

It's interesting you pulled verses from the Old Testament and could not counter what I stated.

The role of a prophet in the Old testament (where they carried great authority) is clearly different from their role in the New testament (which was why despite Agabus prophesying to Paul in Acts 21 regarding what could happen if he went to Jerusalem, Paul still went ahead to Jerusalem). In the New testament, prophecy is no longer our primary source for direction and guidance, since as children of God we can be led by the Holy Spirit. Rather, it should be for confirmation but God still uses it in areas of direction, especially when it has to do with things of larger scope (that is, not limited to individuals, like Agabus prophesying about a famine in Judea in Acts 11).

1 Corinthians 14:3 says But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.

Once again, prophets in the New Testament:
Acts 13:1: Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

So, @Kobojunkie, are you born again?
Religion / Re: Is There Biblical Record Of Prophets After The Death Of Jesus? by sholay2011(m): 10:34pm On Mar 07
Kobojunkie:
Agabus was not a Prophet sent from God to the people of Israel. Rather, because of the Prophet Joel's prophecy that in the Last days, God would pour out His spirit and make prophets of every young man and woman —sinners and non-sinners alike—in the land, Agabus, gained the gift of prophecy as well. lipsrsealed
What are you saying?

Acts 11:27-28: 27 And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

Acts 21:10-11: 10 And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ”

Agabus was a prophet.

The four daughters of Philip the Evangelist for example, had the gift of prophecy.

This your action just says you have had her in mind for a while and was just looking for a slight opportunity to cut her off because you think you are better than them.

casualobserver:

You are the ones with the problems…women like you. A woman was not made to be the head of a household period. It is not misogynistic it is a fact. It does not mean oppression of women or sanctioning such. A man has a role as the leader and head of a household. When I say that that does not mean his wife is his slave or gives him any right to abuse or maltreat his wife. Don’t twist things from your narrow mindset.

A man should not emasculate himself and handover his role to his wife. Your wife can help you and in fact should help but she should not be in a position where she is the one who becomes the head of a household. It is only natural that you lose your value as man to her over time.

The irony is that it is women like you who say there is nothing wrong that are the first to emasculate, insult and demean their husbands for not doing what other husbands do.

A man is supposed to lead with his wife by his side, not a wife leading with her husband behind her. You do not ask a lawyer to design a house for you instead of an architect and then be surprised that the house is not fit for use. Man has his unique role, so also does a wife. When a husband is performing the role of a wife and vice versa problems will ensue. A man is not supposed to spend his time in the kitchen and the market, likewise it is not the wife you send to protect the family when for example your house is being burgled. That role reversals can sometimes occur especially in moments does not mean you should think it is ok….it is not.
God bless you. Reasonable people still dey nairaland sha...
