Politics › Re: How Has Capitalism Encouraged Economic Growth? by Sibrah: 1:33pm On Feb 21, 2016
TonyeBarcanista:
A mixture/blend of capitalism and socialism remains the best
Capitalism or Socialism or even both stands to enslave the people if not done with self-sufficiency in sight and properly. When we import what happens to wealth that's suppose to circulate in the economy is that it is exchange for goods produced by foreigners (employs foreign hands) and wealth is transferred to foreign hands(capital flight). Our own form of economy isn't capitalism/socialism 15% of the way. We simply harrass govt from LG, to state to FG for money either via dollar subsidy, petroleum subsidy, religious trip, training stipends, or unproductive hours in govt employment.

SE is the epicenter of capitalism in Nigeria. SW and North is largely socialism...depend so much on federal allocation.
Don'tconfuse you going to china to dump FG subsidized dollar in exchange for goods that employed chinese in its production into Nigeria economy amounts to capitalism. Innoson for example can't boast of 5% local input into its final products. The people you call socialist dominate the industry for providing your most basic needs. Transportation, Housing, food.
For shelter industry i give te SEners 30%
Politics › Re: Buhari Should Keep Quiet – Pat Utomi by Sibrah: 12:54pm On Feb 21, 2016
Buhari is on the right track here. No devaluation is needed. The dollar account of all exporter should fund the import needs of importers. If our claim as Nigerian that we are hardworking is true then we should have enough dollar reserve from exporters to satisfy the needs of importers. What we have had is a case of govt giving out dollars from oil sales to importers who add no value to the system but help promote capital and employement flight. Nigerians have been net consumers i.e technically relatively unproductive for too long, if you are truely productive and reasonably competitive, sell your products and services to the dollar market and buy what you need with the dollar earned, not you going to govt for dollars. Buhari can't subsidize every toothpick, mascara, toothpaste, noodle, DSTV subscription with non-existent Dollar that isn't his fault.
Importation of those things means a foreigner is employed for its production and the wealth generated in Nigeria has been transferred to the foreigners' hand for the forseeable future. For even offering to give hard earned Dollar out at a low rate to importers of certain items is a plus from Buhari govt. As long as we continue to hide behind man-know-man format to earn from govt(oil), there will continue to be naira devaluation in exchange markets.

Nigerians are clowns. Fashola proposed a modest increase in power tariff and they are protesting. These are the same clowns telling Buhari to devalue. Do you guys understand that refined petrol is imported? Are the masses ready to pay N200 per liter if Buhari devalues? Or do you guys want us to go back to the subsidy regime with all its inherent corruption?
Our sophisticated ignorance is second to none. With level of subsidy being enjoyed at fed unis and the protest that goes with any increase in fees, I am not surprised at all.

I reason with with you, but with the hope that things will really get better soonest cos we can't continue like this.
The next action(s) should be from you and I. We should go fund our dollar craving by offering goods and services to the Dollar market. Most people are depending on govt. to make them billioniares. The govt is there to give us a condusive playing feild to enable us express ourselves economically and not subsidize DSTV, rice, flour, iced fish, toothpick, and clothes with Dollar meant to build Power plants, Power transmission lines, railway, schools, health structure and industries.

Politics › Buhari's Economic Policies Are OK, Though Nigerians May Not Adapt To It by Sibrah(op): 7:13pm On Feb 20, 2016
Buhari is right with his economic policies so far.
The dollar account of every importer is suppose fund the import needs that importer.
The reason we are suffering from FG dwindling Dollar reserve is because Nigerians have been net consumers for too long, if you are truly productive and reasonably competitive, you ought to sell some of your products and services to the dollar market to earn dollar(your own dollar reserve) and buy whatever you need with it. Buhari can't subsidize every toothpick, rice, stock fish, iced fish, clothing fabric, mascara, toothpaste, noodle, DSTV subscription transaction with virtually non-existent Dollar that isn't his fault. For even offering to give hard earned Dollar out at a low rate to importers of certain items is a plus from his govt. If, as a business person your end product interfaces with the global market and you are truly productive and competitive on global standard, then earn your own dollar. What we are paying for today isn't really oil earning reduction but lack of productivity and global competitveness in time past. Buhari is still the best hand for the Job. The last admin was eyeing increase in VAT, cancelling of Amnesty, Sales of More parastatals. These are last resort of any nation bereft of ideas to run its economy, it is like a man who decides to stop having a security guard(amnesty withdrawal), sell his core assets/capital like his clothes, tools, or vehicle/machines(NNPC privatisation etc), and increase what he charges for his service which hasn't improved (increased VAT) in order to continue feeding, paying his DSTV bills etc saying he is better than the man who is decides to be productive to meet his needs by doing same to buy a car he can start driving to make money. The difference is clear between Buhari's productiveness based policies and the past govts consumption based policies.

Imagine paying 2000 those days (the read the old meter) before it was privatise.
EKEDP billed 5k still no improvement. We still contribute to buy transformer/fuse etc for the transmission. We still paid for 3months darkness...
Give us prepaid they refuse, some months it's 12k with like 3times 6hrs light, darkness the rest.
We have the money, give us prepaid meter even add the bribes make it 50k for single face, but they refuse.
Except some new house that will give them 70 - 100k for single face, it will not take 3months you will see prepaid installed in that new house
I am fed up, the FG is not even helping matter

Instead of visiting IVM to see things for yourself, you are here ranting. You think all these foreign companies produce all the parts of the motor? Go and do your research because it's the only thing that you need to wise up. The same applies in the aviation and marine industry. I have not seen a company that manufactures ALL the parts required in the production process, be it Mercedes, Benz, Daimeller, BMW, Toyota.

Don't be surprised how I group my first 3 companies. They are 3 different companies that amalgamated because of some economic reasons etc. Do your research.

How old is IVM that you are so quick to call it an assemblage? You have to start from somewhere, with time and necessary support from Govt and individuals, you'll soar to a greater unprecedented height.
Other vehicle assembles don't produce all their parts or components but get it from local sources. Stop ranting here and make your point.

Yes they are best described as possible sympathizers. That's exactly what the Op is trying to say.

It is common sense that they (Bokoharam & Militants) would naturally choose those who are sympathetic to their cause!

In essence, you have just agreed with the Op that Buhari is truly a Bokoharam sympathizer
Had Buhari turned down the gesture by faceless ''Boko Haram Voice'' then, he would be been called a bad statesman in the face what OBJ was doing then. Don't forget OBJ went to Maiduguri to try and solve BH. People knew PDP was very likely behind that faceless BH voice with the deafening sound of Buhari that followed from the PDP camp.
