Politics / Re: A Prayer For President Buhari And His Ruling Party By Dele Momodu by Sibrah: 12:10pm On Oct 27, 2018
The nation is clearly too big for some of the regional leaders we parade. Buhari is only using his one-sided corruption fight to promote a reelection drive. Even his policies are centered on how to impress voters for reelection.

We are better of with one term tenure arrangement for each candidate because every candidate coming in is trying to use the first four years to impress and eight years is now like 4 years at most.

AZeD1:

How does this relate of economics of scale? This was your initial post

And I told you that the size of the power plant doesn't matter because the price of power is determined NERC so even if you build a 3000MW power plant, you would still sell at the same price with someone who builds a 200MW power plant.

Economy of scale happens when production increase with fewer inputs cost (This usually happens when you buy in bulk) but when it comes to power, the gas required to power a 56MW turbine is different from what is required to power 132MW turbine. CCGT has no factor here because you can use CCGT in a small plant and a big one.

Oga take it easy now. CCGT start with about 100MW.

There are shanties everywhere. The shanties of some places only make some other shanties look developed. Relativism.

Your brand of economics must have been handed over to you by your forefathers and not what our learned Adam Smith, Keynes coined for this modern world. Common sense should inform you that high price of oil is always a major boost to our huge forex reserve. You keep harping on demand and supply as if you are talking to kindagarten kids. What is Nigeria producing that is internationally recognized? Please don't mention oil, I need a commodity or an innovation undecided of course none. Need I tell you that Nigeria is a consuming economy that thrives more on monetary policies of its government and this is where your uncle Buhari lost it. The fact is, Muhammadu Buhari's rudderless monetary policy and not a drop in oil prices is responsible for Nigeria's current woes. Impossible to take a free market economy, turn it into a command economy because one lacks critical thinking capacity and expect different results - no way.
Incompetences, Cluelessness........wrong policies, all these destroyed our economy......no thanks to apc led government. I am tired of educating kids. Demand and supply mostly affects a producing economy more and not as you imagined for a consuming economy as Nigeria.
As usual, sprinkle some irrelevant stats around while you aim jibe at me. @bold part, talk sense bros . . . So you mean oil isn't a product? I tell you, age is nothing but a number. You are irredeemable.

........ask yourself how much Obj inherited from the military in 1999 (about $3.8 billion) how much was oil then (around $9 per barrel) yet dollar vs naira was stabilized and no recession of this magnitude you wanna know how? He went on a rebranding of Nigeria to the outside world that is, he opened Nigeria to the frontiers of business globally and gradually our oil, telecommunications, bureau de change, capital market, maritime, agriculture and other sectors started picking up. I ask you now, what has your Buhari done so far to fight this recession? You know what he did something your lots are fond of doing and still doing, blame Good luck Jonathan. Obasanjo had all the excuses in the world to blame Abdulsalam, he never did but did something reasonable, engaged the best brains at his disposal to turn the tide. Learn and be wise.
What will blind hate or ignorance profit any liberal soul?
The price of dollar is simply a function of its demand and supply. FG has been the one supplying 85% of $forex. Commonsense should tell the vile amongs us that once the govt's major dollar source - oil sales - suffers a dip in volume or price, our dollar supply goes down and demands further pushes dollar price upward.
Those irrelevant stats you bandied up there won't be complete without you stating our recurrent expense as of 1999.

It easy for any pained soul to foam in the mouth about dollar rate of N504/$. Our system of defending the dollar rate with dollar reserve is not feasible if our dollar supply via oil sales isn't high. How much did GEJ govt earn asides oil sales?

Politics / Re: High Commodity Prices: Should Prices Rise Or Go Down In A Recession? by Sibrah: 8:23pm On Feb 07, 2017
My own theory:
The lesser the transactions available the more profit people seek for the few transaction they can perform thus driving commodity price up . . .
There is also the dollar angle. Even local produce are not exempted from the dollar influence. Petrol for transportation of goods is tied to dollar cos we import it, fertilizer too, insecticides too . . .

I believe that chemicals can be mixed together in such a way that will make an individual act crazy, have delusional thoughts, or act abnormally. In normal society it's called science, in Nigeria it's called black magic.
Why then do herbalist make incantations? Do pharmicist make incantation on Panadol or Paracetamol? Why did the boys parent allow incision? Was it a chemical process too? Use ur mind.

Its easy to castigate the boy and think he needs psychiatric help but if you hear some people's story ,you'd understand that the worst (permit me to use the most worst thing) that can happen to anyone is to be born into an evil family, because they are meant to be your bedrock against life's challenges but when you are unfortunate to come from a bad family....

Unfortunately I don't have her permission to share her story but I can understand what this young man is saying based on what I have heard
There are families that sacrifice a child's success/glory for the parents and other kids to succeed ,that child becomes the one with the most potential and with the least results and it appears as if he/she isn't doing enough meanwhile he/she is only being remote controlled via black magic.....

He is still young he got to find out on time, what if he found out at 40?
You made sense . . .
