Nothing but high praises for Colonel Bako.. Rest In Peace sir!
I read some interesting things about him.. he was a driving force against the insurgency and many governors have acknowledged him for his hard work and dedication..

Pardon my curiosity. Something really caught my attention here; what sort of surprises is the army full of that should make you prepared physically, mentally and financially. Is there a specific reason (based on your experience) that made you say this sir?
Didnt seem like he wanted to say..

That too is also a possibility but it's better to prepare for the worst (exams ) than hoping for direct shortlist to avoid being taken unaware.
Remember even with the current number of applicants it's also high as they can only take a max of 2200 for SSC out of say 11k applicants and about 1500+ out of 32k+ for DSSC screening.
True True

I have also thought about it. They probably thought applications would be as much as last year's. From the look of things, turn out this year is almost half or 1/3 of last year. Meaning lesser population. They might skip the exam thing and do the business as usual of shortlisting for screening.
Your are in the spirit.. na why I shout 2days ago say “call your godfathers, e get why” and one baba wan chop me..

This one wey everybody dey post pics for medical vetting from non medical practitioners is quite funny. We go still dey here when person go snap his/her behind in a bending position make we check whether pile dey or not.
This exercise should be approached systematically/step by step, the most important thing now is to be shortlisted for exams, all these checkups won't matter if one isn't shortlisted for exams. Just keep fit, if you have any serious medical issue go to a hospital and seek for professional advice and overall commit everything to God's hands.
boss this exams ehn.. knowing army well.. dem fit skip am sha ooo but let’s see..

I have pictures of a lieutenant colonel that was killed a couple of months ago.. I can’t post here for obvious reasons but when you see his body on the ground, you’ll think he’s an ordinary soldier until you see the eagle and star on his chest

Mine wasn’t flagged on gap teeth, I got this little extra pointed canine teeth and like the major incharge of medical told me that in this profession you need to be smiling at all times, I begin to wonder if it’s teeth shinning we’ll be doing in the job moreover my teeth aren’t broken neither do I have a missing front teeth.
I just weak carry my kwaye board the next vehicle to abj and back to my destination embarassed embarassed
If you screened 45, you’d understand what I’m saying.. when the army realized they were at a loss, they began to forgive height, BMI, teeth etc..only that some were not so forgiveable

Something do you oh, better pray that the doctor that would examine you would be lenient enough to let you go, cause that’s what flagged me off during Medical’s and mine wasn’t even in front but molar or premolar don’t know what they call that inside teeth
its not gap teeth nah.. this one sef na problem? Almighty army wants us to be shining teeth
But one thing I’m sure is.. they’d be lenient with this years medicals.. all these small issues might be overlooked like 45

On that issue of child terrorist who ran out of magazine, if I find myself in that position as a soldier. I will move closer to him if there is no cross fire, draw my dagger, slit his throat and send him to hereafter. I can't waste my bullet on such a boy. He is better of in heaven or hell, (whatever place God choose to put him) than making this life a living hell for human. cool no time for rubbish, because they will still release him. This is battle field, small slacking like this can lead to death of thousands.

My own is don't generalize on what you don't know.

I have a question or thought that has been bothering me.
I hope I don't come off as bragging with this tho coz it's not my intention.
I know some of us are doing well without this job, some people applying here might earn as high as 300-500k monthly from regular salary and side hustle. If ure a techprenure you'll understand what I'm saying.
We all know 2nd Lt salary na shit let's be very honest with ourselves especially when u get responsibility or once you're already used to living comfortable, to adjust with that amount as salary go hard gaskiya.
Is it possible for one to have time to run their regular side hustle daily let's say 2-4hrs on uninterrupted?
Is it possible?
I'd love your honest and candid response on this.
as a tech guy, I run a small outfit where I get jobs and my Ui and dev guys execute the projects for some good amount of cash.. I thought about it so much but then I know that it’s going to be very stressful overseeing the business when I’m in training or passed out.. so I’m gradually grooming my kid sister who is also in tech to take over... she’d be calling the shots while I’m gone.. but the business still remains mine..the honest truth is there won’t be any time..you can still be collecting jobs as an officer but get people that’ll execute it, take your cut and pay them.. chikena

There are many army officers that are very disciplined, strict with their values. They don't smoke, drink, womanise or indulge in any vices. I know an army Captain that is ready to even quit the job than for him to compromise his believe. Infact all his coursemates even know him same for soldiers under him. After he closes from work you will only find him in his room(praying), in Church or going for evangelism the man own is excess even to shake a lady is a difficult thing for him. At a time he even had misunderstanding with his commanding officer, Baba stood his ground o. Make una forget army is not what many people seem to portray it to be.

For the person talking about not shooting combatant kids in the name of rules of engagement hasn't either read and properly digest the "Rules of engagement". As a soldier you don't kill women and children and attack worship places/schools. They are referring to noncombatants and not combatants, those kids kill like men, self preservation is the first instinct as a soldier. Even in real life the US and other soldiers of advanced militaries don't follow what is written in the book. When you hear gunshots for battle you go forget everything them teach you for training that one na fact. The first thing that will come to your mind is to return fire and save your life and that of your colleagues.
You see this wisdom you have, it’ll never run dry..

E don bring film narrative come.. pikin wey go run out of bullets for mag, commot dagger Dey charge come your side.. even US soldiers that sometimes follow rules of engagement to the letter Dey kill child soldiers wey pick up arms...watch American sniper.. late Chris Kyle is as the most decorated navy seal sniper in history..he almost shot a kid and if not that the boy dropped the rpg and ran.. wetin consign am! I need to trust my men to be able to make the right choices when we are fighting.. abi you’ve forgotten that they can strap the child with bombs and send him to us as soldiers.. everybody with their own wahala abeg... my own is id somebody Carry’s arms to kill me and he runs out of bullets then does pity face, he’d see the gates of hell.

Lemme just say this here so some of you can learn.. I served in Ekiti for nysc and in one very thick bushy part of the state.. there was this lookalike garboon viper that was terrorizing is in the lodge and the snake would sneak into our rooms at night to do whatever.. it would go to the girls part of the flat and the female Corper’s would come over to crash at our place... we eventually trapped it one day and I was fixed on killing it.. but the female Corpers and some guys were insisting that it hadn’t hurt anybody so we should release it far from the house... I told them clearly that this snake is dangerous but na lie.. they had some of our village students take it away some kms from the house... in about 3 weeks we heard that a snake bit and killed one of my favorite students in class.. only to rush there and see the same snake killed and lying down on the floor.. I leave this story here so you can pick which part better suits you.

Oh and till today I still hold them responsible for the death of that girl cos we could have clearly averted it

The kid looked at me soberly, he is no longer armed (technically, as he is outta ammo)...

Killing a kid who is outta ammo with a soberly eyes is beyond humanity, Sir.

That kid might not even know d reason why he is fighting, he was definitely being brainwashed, I can't soil my hands by killing a child.

I Know we shouldn't compare movies with reality, bur some of this movies have scenes (major scenes) of wad actually happened in reality... Take for instance "Blood Diamond", are u saying dat if u were d soldiers dat caught thousands of those kids without ammo, dat u would have killed em all?
I wish you well in this military career..
