i maybe wrong, but i don't think Phil is the right person for Claire because everything about him seems so perfect and a huge part of him is unknown.
Also there with the added twist of finding God that was introduced, i think it maybe a way of salvaging the idiotic Mike cos his problem isn't lack of self control but cos something changed.
Remeber that Mike was so so good until he fell for Sarah, so what is happening now is the aftermath of that relationship.
