Nigerian Tailors & Disappointment: Work Hazard Or Laziness?

Since I was born, now I'm getting old, I've never given a local fashion designer (tailor) a material and had the clothing delivered on time without one or two stories. What's your experience with them? Is it the nature of the work or are most of them lazy?

Once he has paid her bride price and done other requirements, she becomes his wife. The rest is just formality. I don't even know where it is written that a couple must wed in church. All these man made laws are just complicating life for us.

The man should tell the lady to stop visiting him until they conduct the church ceremony because her constant presence close to him is putting him under unnecessary pressure.
stop visiting? That's truly difficult to do, as she may start thinkin dat he's havin an affair with another girl.

Hello, the difference its just in there quality, gold wedding ring lasts longer n doesn't change except when its too tight to fit in. But other rings like CC and others they are very cheap n fades easily when used with detergents n other things that react to metals.
My advice is just buy the ordinary ones and when the lord blesses u, u can buy gold wedding rings.
God bless
thanks, very encouraging

My dear friends, i have two important questions that i need advice. With all sincerity, i'm a low income earner and my wedding is few months away and i want to buy d weddin ring now. My question is:
1. Must one go 4 this expensive so called weddin ring. Can't one get a cheaper pair of ring, like 4k and use it.
2. Is there any difference btw a weddin ring and other rings?

Conversion from mm to inches.

Note: 1 inch =2.54 cm. And we are dealing with mm not cm Hence, 25.4 but we know 225/60 is mm. And 60 is the sidewall. Which is 60% of 225.
Am I understood?
To convert every digit there into inch we use the 25.4 but we make it a whole 4 decimal digit. Hence, 2540.

Now 2540X2 comes in to play.
cheers!!! Man, u just reminded me of prof. Ben with his simble but long maths. U're on point bros.

Car TalkRe: Do-it-yourself (diy) by silvoice(m): 9:34am On Oct 22, 2014
FreePath:
...diy...

1. Start simple.

Start with the easiest repairs first. Don't dive right into rebuilding your transmission. You'll gain confidence, learn how to use tools, and begin to understand how everything fits together on your car.

Here are some great repairs for the weekend mechanics;
Change Wiper Blades
Replace Air Filter
Replace Headlight
Replace Battery
Replace Spark Plugs
Change Oil
Replace Belts

If you're undertaking a repair that's not on this list and you're just getting started, at least make sure it's a repair that doesn't require you to lie on your back, deep underneath your car.

If you do have to jack up your car to get underneath it, under no circumstances should you use the flimsy jack that came with the car. And never, ever get under your car, unless it's supported by appropriate jack stands.

Finally, when you're getting started, try to avoid repairs that involve squeezing yourself into an uncomfortable position, which can make a repair more difficult.

2. Avoid repairs with dire consequences.

Try to avoid repairs or service work where the consequences of a mishap are great. For example, don't try to replace your brake master cylinder or fuel line on your first repair. You could end up crashing into a plutonium tanker or worse still, you might even wreck your engine.

3. Get the tools you need.

Before you start ripping apart your car, go out and get a set of tools, including:

A complete set of socket wrenches, including swivel sockets with extensions of various lengths and angle accessories
A complete set of flat and ring spanners/wrenches
The usual screwdrivers, pliers -- and especially, a good set of vise grips.

I also think the most important tool to DIYer is scan/diagnostic tool (even if it is basic one). I will specially address this later.

Whatever special tools are necessary for the job you're contemplating. For example, a special tool is necessary to remove the oil filter, and another for the spark plugs. And in both cases, there are different sizes of tools. So take a look first and find out what you'll need.

No matter what tools you buy, you still won't have all the tools you'll need. So, my final piece of advice is to start your repair early. That way, the parts store will still be open when you head down there looking for that special tool you need.

4. Do a little homework.

Do some homework before you plunge into a repair. It just might save you a lot later. Buy the manufacturer's shop manual for your vehicle, and read up on the repair.

Here's a reason why it's important to do your homework:

Imaging you have already bought the parts to be replaced in your vehicle. You later got the manual and looked closely, you then noticed that step 1 said, "remove engine." No kidding.

So, do your research first! You may even seek help from educated car forums like this.

5. See one before you do one.

The best way to learn is to work with someone who knows what he or she is doing. If you're undertaking a repair you've never even seen done before, it's reasonably likely that you'll screw it up -- or, at best, you'll do it the hard way. My advice? Operate on the same principle that medical schools use: see one, do one, teach one. Play it safe.

6. Don't be ashamed to ask for help if you screw up.

It happens. Don't be shy about calling your regular mechanic. Tell him you screwed up your repair and need a question or two answered. If he's a nice guy, he'll take pity on you and attend to you.

Don't take advantage of your mechanic, however. Remember that he's probably extremely busy, so be patient with him.

A final word of advice. If you really screw up, and have to take your car to your mechanic, don't try to cover it up. Confess. I can tell immediately when a customer has tried to hide a repair gone awry. Everyone makes mistakes, strips bolts, and blows parts up. It happens. It may take a few years, but eventually, you'll even laugh about it.

7. Safely dispose of the toxic crud that will come out of your car.

After you're done with your repair, it's possible you'll be left with used coolant, motor oil, brake fluid, or other toxic materials. You'll need to dispose of it safely.
u are a good son of ur father. A novice lik me is dancing dorobucci on this info. Thanks man

She just lack basic knowledge. Once the bride price is paid and accepted and the Father has handed her to him as his wife then they are married. White wedding is is just ceremony. Before the advent of Christianity people got married traditionally. However she believes the marriage is not complete until the white wedding... you should understand with her because many people do not know her bride price has been paid.

Following their advice, the way am looking at them it remains for them to tell you to rape her. Na waoh.
u did made some point, but he himself believed that they are legally married and wedding only serve as official presentation and blessing of the mariage. If you think otherwise, why would even his pastor refer to her as mr. B...'s wife?

So, he got married to someone he didn't even know much about? Not even an info as little as whether she has had s€x or not? And you say she visits and stays for 2 days biweekly? Your friend is not serious. Same with his wife.

And nope! It does not seem like you will get any good advice on here. Its either the story is fake or the people in it are fake.
no! Don't get it wrong. She had told him in d past that she don't hav a boy friend, since 2yrs dat he knew her, her lifestyle shows it, but he himself has dated women. So wether Virgin or not was nt an issue 4 him. Believ it or not, most women wil nt open up on dat, especially if dere 1st experience is bad. Again it's now dat she's staying 2day b4 travelin. B4, he does d visitin.

Hello, someone need advice, pls only responsable married men or women should comment on this. Singles, my apology in advance.

He has paid her bride price. Because of his job and few other logicstics from her own schedule, d wedding was shifted forward to atleast, 8 months time.
He is an advocate of no s*x before marriage, jus lik her. Now she visits him more regular at least twice in a month and spend 2days or so before traveling.
D problem is d responsability of marriage is now telling on him, even though he was yet to start enjoying d sweet side of marriage.
He is now wondering whether he can sustain the surpressed sexual feelin til afta weedin. Though both are strong christian.
Yestarday night he had a passionate talk about it wit her.
Excerp: "let's hav a protected s*x, because i don't want u 2 be pregnant before our weddin"
ans: "no pls let's hav patience"

He: " we are already married by law, only waitin 4 God's blessing thru weddin" then she opened up.

Ans: " i'm a virgin, i promised God that i wil not do it until after my weddin. Dear, i'v kept it 4 a long time. I wil not be happy if i break that promise."
he was short of words and find it difficult to convince her.
Pls he need advice on how to cope til after d weddin, since it wil not be proper to tell her to stop visiting regularly.
Men in NL, Do u have similar exp. How did u handle it?
Women, do u think she's right? If no, what do u think he should tell her?

Car TalkRe: Nigerian Mechanics And Made In Nigeria Cars by silvoice(op): 9:33am On Sep 20, 2014
bravolad: Oil Change Interval is a combination of different factors. In defining "extreme driving conditions", the vehicle manufacturer considered a number of things:
1. Short trips of less than 5 miles (which do not allow the engine to warm-up)
2. Constantly driving in dusty areas in which case engine is at a low speed most of the time.
3. Driving in traffic (traffic here does not refer to traffic lights but gridlocks. In Abuja for instance, We hardly have this level of traffic situation except for those who live in Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba and its environs). This is what they call "stop and go driving". Most city driving will generally fall under category 1 above.
4. Towing a trailer or regularly carrying heavy loads
5. Driving in a very hot or very cold weather.

If you drive in any of those conditions, you will consider your driving to be severe. Therefore, oil change will be in line with the manufacturer's recommendations.

I use myself as an example, I live in Abuja and drive within the city everyday and drive moderately. I change my engine oil at 5000 miles or 6 months. I also use synthetic oil and 6 months because at this point, the oil starts to loose some of those protective additives. I have not done an oil analysis to determine this but available research seem to conform with it.

But again, I tell people that going by the manufacturer's recommendation would never endanger your vehicle. This is in terms of the oil viscosity and change interval.

However, some people argue about our weather as the reason for the frequency of oil change but Nigeria can not be considered in the category of severe weather as indicated on point 5 above with the adjective "very".
thanks a løt ur coment is very educative and useful. I belong to category 1. But do ordinary oil have time to lose it protection on engine like synthetic?
