Car TalkRe: Nigerian Mechanics And Made In Nigeria Cars by silvoice(op): 8:04am On Sep 20, 2014
CityNG: The best method to determine oil change interval is to send your used oil to a lab for testing (please don't tell me that doesn't exist in Nigeria. It does and you just have to do the research to find it).

Save for that then the next best method is to follow the manufacturers recommendation for extreme conditions.
this is exactly my point. Atleast it has nothing to do with date.
Car TalkRe: Nigerian Mechanics And Made In Nigeria Cars by silvoice(op): 10:45pm On Sep 19, 2014

is not issue of a particular car. It's a general believe here in nigeria that we should service cars at most every 2 months for conventional oil and six months for synthetic oil, regardless of mileage. Am thinkin that it's a bad idea to change oil with date, like weekly, monthly etc. rather than usage. Reason is that a car that cover 3000miles in Nig. within a week might be due for change while another that is yet to make 1000 miles after 4 months would stil be fine.
Car TalkNigerian Mechanics And Made In Nigeria Cars by silvoice(op): 8:08pm On Sep 19, 2014
Dear car gurus here, i have some issues that bother me in this country, as regard to how we Nigerianize everythin as if we are different from other countries. For instance: Almost Every car manual would stipulate btw 3000km and 10000km as a guide to know when your engine oil is due for change. But in nigeria every mechanic would want u 2 change your conventional engine oil atleast, every two months, even if u did not drive up to 1000km. I asked why, many said because of d weather and hold ups on our roads. Are there no occasional traffic jam in Japan? USA and other countries that manufacture these cars?
Yes weather condition is a factor, but that would be extreme weather of summer or winter.
Again, our weather is neither hot nor cool. As far as i can remember, i'v not seen snow in Nigeria. Apart from some part of d north that are very hot, places like lagos and PH, we have average weather that maybe cool in d morning, hot in d aftanoon vise versa. Now that cars are being manufactured in Nigeria, D question is, are they going 2 reduce the mileage, say 1500km to 5000km based on imaginary percieved hold ups or would d manual be d same as the mother countries? Do date have anything to do with oil change rather than usage? I went into an arguement with a mechanic who told me 2 change my car engine oil that are yet to drive up to 980km when i told him that is been 4 months since i change oil, because i only drive d car on sundays. Someone should pls educate me more on this

BigBossMan: It seems you are not a frequent user.

Gtb is awesome. I have been using them regularly for the past 8 years. Their Internet banking platform is very user - friendly and they are very innovative!
However issues do come up on in a while. I also use diamond bank big time. They are equally very good.
I have had issues using both gtb and diamond, far worse than what you experienced.
Bottom line is even the best players still goof.
Just bear should sh.it happens!
Doh
pls i hav savings and current a/c in gtb. Current is the default a/c, can i transfer from my savings a/c to my default a/c. If so how? Cos i only transfer from my default a/c to others tru ibanking.

chinelo5: I was completely honest with my parents about our income and what we could afford. White collar jobs and no money for frivolities. Dad took it from there and tailored the expenses to what his son in-law could afford. It just depends on the kind of in-laws you have and the other factors I mentioned earlier. I know ladies who will insist on full implementation of that list, to show everyone that their husband to-be has "arrived". They forget that there's life after these "few hours" ceremonies!
thanks

Car TalkRe: The Best Tyre For Nigerian Roads by silvoice(m): 5:10pm On Aug 14, 2014
john650: That's right, safety should be the operative word when shopping for a tyre. Things to lookout for is the date of manufacture, tread wear number, temperature resistance, speed symbol, maximum load capacity and traction.

The date of the manufacture is important for the buyer to determine its expiry date, which is normally four or five years depending on the brand. The manufacturing date is represented by four figures on the side wall of the tyre. The first two digits indicate the week of the year while the last two digits stand for the year. Tread wear number indicates the tyre’s wear rate. The higher the tread wear number is, the longer it should take for the tread to wear down. For example, a tyre graded 400 should last twice longer than a tyre graded 200. The temperature resistance, which is represented by letters “A,” “B “or “C,”indicates a tyre’s resistance to heat. Letter “A” is suitable for hot climate. Letter “B’ is meant for normal weather areas and while “C” is for cold areas. M+S is used to indicate that a tyre is suitable for mud and snowy terrains. It is popular in Nigeria and the SON said that it is appropriate for the Nigerian roads.
