TravelRe: 10 Cities In Nigeria Where Pidgin English Is Most Spoken by Sinistami(m): 2:03pm On Feb 01, 2019
Ekinematics:
It's a funny list. Take PH to number 1, because no city in Naija has more pidgin English speakers than PH. Warri just have their own accent that's all. Pidgin speakers in PH as compared 2 Warri is like 3:1.
Every pidgin English City has its own pidgin accent some may even have different variants ike Yenagoa..PH but Warri own is just unique it's like the way Northern USA people love the Southern US Accent..Shikina.

Epie was not founded by Aka migrants, Epie Ijaws accommodated the Aka migrants. Take note
If this is true then it comfirms one thing that the Izons are too accommodating and this isn't the only case where the Izons would loose their language to be mixed with the languages of migrants, but when it's Ijaw in other areas they are assimilated. take a look at Ibani,Nkoro, Kalahari, etc

Hello everybody!! It's me again and welcome to the Naija pidgin lounge, a thread where you can ask any question about Naija pidgin, you know it's history, meaning of words and slang you don't know, It's variants and Dialects, it's Native speakers etc, and I or someone else who is Knowledgeable enough will answer. Well first Naija pidgin is a is a Creole and pidgin language based on Victorian English as its Superstate with Nigerian Native languages as its Substrates. It is said to have emerged from the Niger delta in the 16th Century because of the trade between the Nigerdeltans and the White British people, although it seems this isn't the only factors that brought about to pidgin I have my own theory of how it came about. just ask and it shall be given. Anyway this thread is directed to mostly Nigerian people who grew up in the diaspora and foreigners who are in nairaland who finds it interesting and just for pure lovers of pidgin like me.

Yeah, it's a shame. I was never taught my mother language either, so I know how you feel. I try to learn, but it's too difficult when basically no one around me can speaker it either.

Nigeria was never meant to be a nation, but here we are. Language death is a natural consequence of the nation-building process.
Well Nigeria isn't a nation in the real sense of the word. We're just a state a country. But it's still my country that I must build and defend no matter what. And yeah language death is a consequence of building a nation, so here we are.

From port harcourt to benin, pidgin nah una tradition, lol, it's always funny when people from niger delta come to visit their people in ibadan and the ones in ibadan will be the ones to teach them the language instead of the other way round

anyway nothing goes for nothing, d decline of d languages was d prize payed for the sweet pidgin, but as i lyk d pidgin reach i nor wan loss my oron language
Well you're right!!! The language still sweet shaa!! But the price was too heavy but anyway now we know we have a language that can represent us.

You be Oron ? Akwa ibom?

Chey, the richness of Nigeria's languages and folks never ceases to amaze me. Epie language ke! Now I know, e se oga.
They are both Edoid languages, hence the similarities in vocabulary. They stem from the same mother language. It makes as much sense to say that Urhobo is a dialect of Epie as the other way around. So, it makes no sense all in all.
Thanks for clearing that up. And Nigerian languages are amazing. But Sadly this Epie is dying even I can't speak it as its people are in the middle of a growing and Booming Metropolitan centre and can be found no where else but there.

And its worse as its in the Niger Delta with pidgin being Creolized and English Nativized. I grew up speaking Pidgin as a Native language. Well I've accepted it now but that's why I opened this Thread.

All you've said is bayelsa guys in ajegunle blablabla. Lagos seems to be your only place of reference for the rugged people. For you to even underrate yoruba ruggedness and tell me i've not gone beyond southwestern states is laughable. You think I'm like u who analyses ruggedness of people in their comfort zones right. Heck nah!

How you even qualify extortion, robbing and laziness as rugged is what i would never understand....hian!

The gods of rational reasoning would not forgive me if I continue to argue this with you...take care bro!
Yoruba Rugged Keh!! I agree igbos can be rugged o! But Yoruba people that haven't seen anything. Lag weh cultist they wan use me and my Bro count scores before into Shenkes mata. Nai we vex perform wan trick weh we de do well well for BY. We pulled our clothes and turned our bear backs to then and said: " We don giv una our back to butcher o! so make una do o! but if una matchet once no kill us ehn!! then una go know who be who. Una go knw say Millitant full ground" And that's when they cooled down. And now we and dem na padi. if its Igbo land I haven't really gone farther than Aba and Onitsha, and its only for once only for market but I have peeps that have stayed at IMO and Enugu for like four years.

And were not qualifying Lazyness Robbery and Extortion for ruggedness were only saying peeps who can survive around here are rugged. Hence the South South Centric list.

We already speak a Unifying language and that's Pidgin. it just needs refining and a standard written and spoken dialect that we could use. If only this Wazobia Government would understand and legalize it as a full fledged language of its own. And them we would know who is who here.

if you've being to rivers,u will know that being rugged is a culture, and because of the diversity in rivers it fuels it,and i am nt talking of just ph,everywhere in rivers, there are enough stories, some you will never get to hear about.
Its not only In Rivers that Ruggedity is a culture the other states I listed plus some places in lag also has Ruggedity as a culture. A reason that I didn't put other states like Onitsha and Aba is cuz they don't posses this quality.

I live in the north and I schooled in my state capital, Benin city. I must admit my eyes opened to new things I've never seen or experienced before I got to that city.

I finished school and found myself always being on guard and observing people around me. If you come to a place like Benin city and you are already of low moral upbringing or standards it wouldn't take long before you get virused by the people there.

Anyway I don't really like my city, I wish the youths over there would look on to greater things instead of killing each other and oppressing people who are not like them.

All in all, I wouldn't trade my experience at my city for anything it showed me another part of life I never knew existed. People be doing mad stuff on the streets Mehn! grin
Me I grew up in Yenagoa my city born in PH. I always thought the life we lived was normal until I travelled out to Uyo for my schooling after me and some other guys two from BY one from Benin strolled through an "Ikoro Road" in Midnight with our phones I was a bit scared because I was new to the place but to my greatest surprise nobody came to us saying "Gos dia" or "Abobi lap" That was then I realizes mehn we lived a hard life in Bayelsa. I was like Imagine!!! They were some people who asked me where I'm from and when I said Bayelsa they were like " No boss one of dis lecturers dem head for here o' And I was like " WTF Wida"
