There has never been any Mr./Ms. NL contest that didn't court controversies, and by extension that of the offline contests as well. From the first contest till the future contests, controversies, hate campaigns and behind-the-scenes scheming will always occur. There's nothing one can do about it. What you'd be doing is getting Dygeasy to kick off the contest ASAP instead of calling for its closure. If the competition had started, all these madness will reduce to an extent. So edit out S.eun and Merry.bet's name and coerce Geasy to start the contest already.

Buwahahahahah. The amount of wailing and cussess on this page left me with tears streaming down my chin. LMAO!!

Dear, I implore you not to bother yourself with any more replies on this hackneyed matter. No-one has the right to ask you this nonsense question talk more of using it as a benchmark to judge you for this contest. Whether you are single, married, a babymama or whatever inconsequential toga they wanna cloak you with, it's your inalienable right to contest for Ms. Nairaland contest with or without those tags.

There's no rule withholding anyone bold enough to pass the verification age from contesting. A married lady (Rokiátu) had contested before and even if she hadn't, it still doesn't stop you from achieving your ambition of contesting. Your private life remains your private life unless you feel like sharing it with the world, so let nobody, or even the organisers make you reveal what you plan on not revealing (assuming that's your initial plan). You owe no-one an explanation about your marital or relationship status unless it's of your own volition. Everything should have a limit and people need to learn how not to intrude into someone's private life!!

Utd's player of the season clearly is DDG. He's hardly been off his game for the duration of the season and is the main reason Utd isn't in the 10th-esque position like Chelsea. Martial has been great this season but there have been moments he's been found wanting and quiet. Smalling has also been solid but he's been caught with his pants down on several ocassions.

DDG on the other hand has produced brilliant saves game after game after game. Imagine we had Ospina or the departed Valdez in goal, the season would've been woeful.

If the emboldened had happened, you know where you'd find me through out this season? Permanently glued to Livescores.com checking Utd matches' scores through it coz the gory sight of seeing Valdez opening his legs to rein in more goals for oppositions will be worse than watching a Harakiri!!

LVG without a doubt is the luckiest sonofabitch in the world.

Utd puts up horrible footie with no convincing display. Fans wails. Then boom!! Martial Bobo bails him out!!

Utd goes on a "losing" run with terrible displays. Scholes screams for LVG to leave. Then boom!! DDG performs wonders and saves the day as always. LvG miraculously remains.

Utd goes on another winless streak. Suddenly, the much maligned Fat Pele rediscovers his form and saves LVG for 3 more weeks.

United looks set for another insipid boring draw at Old Trafford, skoin-skoin touches Lingaard's brain and he comes up with the winner and saves LVG's scrawny-looking ass for one more week.

United crashes out of anything "crashable" with struggle for UCL qualification even out of our reach, then boom!! A new star called Rashford enters the scene and gives Van Goat another lifeline.


And the annoying cycle continues!! Nothing exceptional about LVG that chose Lionel Messi Fellani as his best player in a Liverpool vs Man Utd match that he was outclassed and out-smarted.

I'm gonna have a hard time choosing my player of the season between Martial and De Gea!!

My three best players for the season are DDG, Martial Bobo and Okwute (stone) Smalling. But at the end of the day, it's a clean sweep for DDG in my heart. Take away that ninja and the one nils we manage to score in matches will be cancelled out with ease.


I repeat, the greatest business we did this season was making sure we held unto DDG. If that ninja leaves, my skin crawls at what outputs Romero and co will putting during our matches.

Read the Man Utd part of that article and see why:

1. Rooney needs to leave if Rashford will have any chance to succeed with a new quality striker acquired in the summer. It's coz of Rooney that Martial was moved to LW to accommodate his tiring legs.

2. Januzaj MAYBE didn't get enough chance to succeed at Utd.

3. And why we need a Mourinho-esque manager (not necessary Mourinho but someone with balls) to be able to bench Rooney for Rashford to have a good chance of succeeding. LVG is powerless when it comes to Rooney. I don't mind Rooney getting injured before tonight's match, I don't fancy him in our starting line-up.

Kagawa10 could be silly when defending LVG, but he's right on this.

Rashford has better off the Ball movement than Martial as a striker.
Just see all of Rashford's goals this season.
He is just at the right place at the right time unlike Martial who almost always get nullified as a striker, and has to drop back to make an impact.

Martial also takes too many touches before shooting too which isn't great for a number 9. Many fans are angry with Martial for this already.
Compare this to Rashford who hits the target without complicating a chance by touching the ball too many times.

So yes! Rashford has better instincts as a striker.

This doesn't mean Rashford is better overall than Martial.

Though, I think Martial will be more devastating as a striker if he played in a team that sees much of the ball and plays real attacking football and he doesn't have to rely on just positioning alone, but free flowing moves.

All true. The number one point seems to be the major reason responsible for low participant. The quest for obsequious flattery and cheap attention has made many characters to impersonate others by using fake pics as theirs. With this they can't participate coz they can't manoeuvre their way through verification process.

The insult and intimidation is another factor too as the badmouthing is capable of affecting one's esteem. But still with the Merrybet largesse I had thought by now we'd be having more than 20 verified contestant and that's not the case.

And if we can't get up to 15 or more the contest may not be as interesting as envisaged coz the many elimination stages up to the grand finale can't effectively hold.

I also notice that the romance board which happens to be the most active and interesting has become unusually boring and a fecund terra firma for juveniles to feast on. This has made serious minds who may have contested to abandon this section. Had the mods taken this to FP the outcome will have been positively different.

You've said it all. Aptly and succintly described. As for why the Merrybet largess embedded to attract more contestants and make the competition more fun didn't work, your last paragraph captured the reason. And don't get your hopes up on this thread hitting the FP to garner more contestants, the owner even warned moderators back then not to move Mr./Ms. NL competition to FP at any stage, this was what led to the fallout between Séxkillz/Ogùgua and the CEO. Though he later reneged on his decision and now allows the final stage to hit the FP or the competition proper to hit the FP.

LOL. I'll write the reasons I feel there are less contestants this year in English.

1. There are lot of fake females since middle of last 2 years which became more rampant last year and this year. And during verification, a lot of these fake females declines from joining the contest to avoid getting exposed. In times past where everything goes, more people competed.

2. The insults and intimidation. These part has played out here on this thread and it'll replay again during the competition proper. Contestants get insulted, harassed and intimidated. It's not fair. Everyone has the right to compete or not and should not be disgraced maybe coz of her looks or shape. These sort of things discourages a lot of people from contesting.

3. And finally, I feel the competition has lost its flair. The movers and shakers of this competition like Idowuogbo and co are no longer around.
