Why donate a Christian school to the government? This is a wrong move as the school will be better managed by the church. Tomorrow they will say they want to wear hijab there rubbish undecided
I wonder the rationale for the donation? If the other people built something like this, they are going to lock it up for their own use and anybody not wearing their apparel will simply not be able to use it.

Education / Enough Is Enough, Mr. President by sinkhole: 1:02pm On Jul 12, 2022
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH MR PRESIDENT
By Prof. Abubakar Sabo

The president set a powerful team to negotiate with the ASUU on matters that have to do with salvaging the university from being privatised and perhaps other issues that affect their welfare.
The same president ordered another committee comprising salaries wages and income commission, budget office of the federation and federal ministry of finance to discuss, strategize and perhaps submit a report recommending an agreeable wage structure for the university workers.

The same president directed ministry of communications and digital economy via nitda to come out with an acceptable payment structure consistent with the peculiarities of university workers.

The same president instructed (via ministry of labour) for the stoppage of salaries of ASUU members for five months and non academic staff for two months while the negotiations are taking place.

The same president via his chief of staff consistently pleaded with the union to exercise patience and give another chance for his government to fulfill an agreement it signed in 2016, 2017, 2019 and a memorandum of action detailing how the agreement will be executed in 2021.

Discussions almost concluded and it has now reached for his turn to fulfill what his government promised. The same president now turns back to say "Enough is enough"

That word should be used in addressing the shameful security situation we are now in.
It's pitiable for a country whose government claimed to have spent over 7 trillion naira on war equipments but cannot rescue it's citizens from untrained bandits who ride motorcycles to nations capital and rescued their members from a so called maximum security prison while the president watches helplessly.

That enough is enough should go to the bastardised economy where a naira equivalent of US dollar is 600 and above. A position the government which mr president superintendent has put us in and made us a laughing stock by the international community.

That enough is enough should be addressed to bandits who attacked mr President's convoy while on transit to daura While he was busy giving out his eldest daughter for a second or third marriage in the villa.

That enough is enough should be addressed to the shameful fuel ques we witnessed nationwide and the exorbitant price of our petrol while we still get huge revenue from the international market resulting russia/ukraine war.

Mr president should say enough is enough to the high corruption on industrial scale that characterise his government officials who are now facing charges by the security agencies. Let him come out and tell us the parties involved in the 170bn largesse of the suspended OAGF.

If this is another tactics of bringing the clock backwards again, it won't work. Let mr president come out and tell the whole world that he cannot honor an agreement he signed or his government signed with the unions, that's all.

For the avoidance of doubt almost all our children go to the same public universities we try to salvage and about 90% of the lecturers study for pg programs in the same public universities we fought to salvage. We lost promotions, we lost salaries and we were intimidated on daily basis with hunger and other unpalatable issues. We fight because we believe what we do is the necessary option available to salvage our universities. We are the right person/ people to say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH MR PRESIDENT"

Abubakar Sabo is a Professor of Accounting at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and is the Immediate Past Chair of ASUU UDUS.

Yes, of course, ASUU President is very correct here.
Sincerely speaking, the end to the strike now lies squarely on Buhari!
The final draft of the agreement is on his table for signing and implementation and all he needs to do is to minute on it, to the finance, to provide the necessary fund to execute the project. If President makes such request, finance will have no option other than to accede!
If the communication is just between the ministries then there will never be a solution, as no ministry is answerable to the other!
Education Ministry can never ever order Finance Ministry to release fund to pay ASUU, only the President can do so angry

*Political Facts:*
1. Are you aware that there is only one Muslim governor in the whole southern Nigeria, Gov. Oyetola of Osun out of 17 states.

2. Are you aware that there are only two Muslim Deputy Gov. in the whole southern Nigeria.

3. In the North there are four Christian Governors out of 19 states.

4. Eight Christian deputy Governors out of 19 states.

5. Are you aware there are 20 Christian Governors and 16 Muslim Governors in Nigeria.

6. Do you know there are 23 Christian Deputy Governors and 13 Muslim Deputy Governors in Nigeria.

Despite this *CAN* is still shouting of Islamization agenda. But is this Christianization agenda of the south? No, because southern Muslims are more liberal and won't shout or make noise but if it is the opposite *CAN* would raise hell.
What type of criminality with statistics is this?
Is there no christians in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kano, Katsina, Yobe, Borno, Jigawa and Bauchi? In those states, can you tell us how many Christian governors or Deputy governors they have had?
Kaduna has a very large population of Christians that should not be marginalized, but those marginalizing them now want to extend same to the whole of Nigeria.
Benue and Plateau are predominantly Christians, just like the core north where they are predominantly Muslims, so Christian-Christian ticket is not an issue for them!

Rescued Ondo church victims refuse to follow parents home

Daily Trust. From Bola Ojuola, Akure

Some of the 77 persons rescued by the police from the underground of the Whole Bible Believer Church at Valentino area of Ondo town in Ondo State have refused to leave police custody.
They also refused to follow their parents who besieged the Ondo State Police Command Headquarters, Akure, home.
Daily Trust recalls that the 77 people comprised 54 adults and 23 children were allegedly hypnotised and kept in the underground part of the church by the pastor of the church, David Anifowose, and his 45-year-old assistant, Josiah Peter.
It was learnt that Peter had claimed rapture was going to take place in September, hence he encouraged the church members to stay in the church while they cooked and ate there.
But briefing newsmen yesterday, the police spokesman in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami, said despite different appeals, the victims vowed to remain in police custody until their pastor and his assistant were released.
He said, “We are trying to work out modalities on what to do to them to get them rehabilitated. We have over 10 people that have refused to go home.”
He further said the two pastors would be charged after completion of investigation.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in his reaction, said the government was working out modalities to rehabilitate those that needed rehabilitation and might take custody of the children.
Akeredolu, who spoke at the police headquarters through the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adebunmi Osadaun, said, “We just interviewed some of the children who are between ages 11 and 17.
“The way they spoke seems they have been hypnotised. They speak with so much confidence that God will soon come (rapture) and they are on a seven-day camp; that they have not eaten for seven days and they still want to go on fasting.”
The father of one of the victims, Michael Olohunyomi, said his 21-year-old daughter, Priscilla, had refused to eat since Saturday.
On his part, a brother to one of the victims, Wande Oladapo, who expressed dismay that his 40-yearold brother could be hypnotised, said, “My brother has refused to go home after he was released on Saturday. He said he would not leave his pastor alone in the cell.”
Meanwhile, the police said the church had been sealed.

On ASUU being complicit, I really don't see them being complicit! ASUU is a body that has many people as members. Each person in the body of ASUU have rights to engage in whatever activities they so wish to engage in, such as farming, helping in electoral processes, etc.
If a member of ASUU engages in corrupt farming practices, it will be unfair to blame ASUU for such, isn't it? Remember, ASUU does not farm nor own a farm!

Stop deceiving yourself!
ASUU is not fighting for anybody. They are fighting for their pockets and their families.
How can fight over salaries payment platform translate to improved buildings or how can increase in salaries translate to improved buildings. Please stop that.
Funding of the university is not done by government alone. It's combined efforts of government, institutions, private sector, international donors.
What's the cost of university education in Nigeria compared to South Africa, US or Canada or other decent climes.
You cannot be paying #50k per annum and wat to enjoy the service someone who's paying #800,000 per annum is enjoying.
University education is over subsidized in Nigeria and unfortunately societal benefits of university education is the least in any society throughout the world. The societal benefits of primary and secondary is highest to any society throughout the world that's why primary and secondary are almost free through the world.
Please ASUU should call off strike, all the stakeholders need to sit down on realistic ways to finance university education in today's realities. This is not 1980 where the population then wasn't up to Lagos. The current realities do not support what's ASUU is saying and they know it .
Perhaps, you are from a rich family!
Total sum of what students pay in Nigeria is around #100k and the minimum wage in Nigeria is around #30k.
Most of the parents who are trying to send their children to school only depends on small-small businesses in life!
Personally, I was raised by my late mother only, and we hawk foods around town to survive. During my time time in school, I paid #150 per session as fee and it was hell raising that amount that time!
I am close to ASUU and I know that what they are asking for is the best for Nigerians, of course they also want their salaries to go up and that is OK! How can you teach on empty stomach? I had taught before and I know that you have to be in a very good psychological mood to deliver properly in class!

It makes no sense shutting the door of university for months and still collect the salaries after the strike. That's already a motivation for strike.
If you know that if you don't work, you won't pay, you will think well before going on strike.
ASUU should stop telling the public they're fighting for students, the politics and corruption and stealing in Universities is worse.

ASUU is a very selfish union. They're tactically fighting for their selfsh interest and hiding under the image of fighting for students.
Imagine refusing to work for several months and expected to be paid to during the strike or at worst all the accumulated salaries after the strike. They didn't loose anything fighting for their supposed selfsh interest.

Virtually all the sectors of Nigerian economy is in serious crisis. Imagine the situation of our doctors and state of the hospitals in Nigeria, if doctors go on strike for 4 months given the pressure they go through daily and poor state of health facilities, what would be the fate many poor Nigerian patients who still patronise government hospitals and some of them still receive their health care in those government facilities.

Government needs to be very decisive with this union, funding of Universities throughout the world is a concerted efforts of the government, universities, private sectors and the alumni.
Many professors in Canadian Universities are appointed on part time basis.
Government needs to grant these universities financial autonomy. Government should stop paying university salaries, all government needs to do is to provide subvention from time, and allow each university to source money to pay whoever they employed as lecturers. The students should be made to pay the actual cost of the University education as obtainable elsewhere. While government should provide comprehensive scholarships for students on 2:1 and above, while those on 2:2 below with clear cut evidence of being an indigent students should be placed on loan to be repaid after school.
Bros, let us mind what we say about those who are struggling to ensure that our future is brighter than today! I read in news today that Plateau Polytechnic is about to be closed down due to lack of fund, the only viable thing in that school is by TETFund. The state government has refused to do anything, even rufsed to pay staff salaries!
I don't know if you're a student or not, if you're one then check your the buildings in your school, you will discover that most of them are marked TETFund, that is because TETFund was the one that built those buildings.
Do you know that one of the numerous ASUU strikes brought TETFund? I guess you do not know!

How much are they paying secondary school teachers? Or Primary school teachers? Or our doctors who toil day and night in hospitals?
University lecturers are not the only set of people in Nigeria and comparatively, they are among the most privileged Nigerians.

Should everyone now go on strike because whatever every sector is being paid is quite low compared to what was looted?
Shutting the door of University for months makes no sense. If you want to earn what politicians are earning, resign and contest.

I have so many lecturers friends that received TETFUND and used the money to build houses and bought cars. That was money meant for research.
If other deprived people in Nigeria are not talking that does mean that a deprived ASUU or those who want to talk should do "mumu" and shot-up!
If anybody embezzle TETFund money, it is the duty of FG through the same TETFund to fish out and punish such lecturer/researcher, if they failed then you can not blame the defaulter! How can you blame a thief when police refused to do their work?

So far it's been evident that ASUU as a union is bitting more than they can chew.
It's common knowledge now what their grievances with the federal government are. We all know ASUU is fighting for their selfish interest with zero considerations and regards for our children in public universities.

The federal government are the employers of ASUU members, the courtesy and respect the federal government has shown ASUU so far should be commended by all.

ASUU has no right to demand for a different payment system asides the IPPS payment platform which is the major payment system the federal government has been using to pay her workers. ASUU insistence on UTAS just so they can continue milking the federal government of excess funds should be condemned by all.

The IPPS exposed most professors in our public universities, as it was evident some were teaching in 5 different public institutions and earned 5 seperate salaries, an anomaly the IPPS graciously obliterated to the dismay of ASUU members. ASUU as a union is too corrupt and must be exposed. They never had the interest of Nigerian students and their education at heart, all they are after is more money.

It's time ASUU is disbanded. They are constituting a nuisance to the growth of our educational sector. The federal government should employ public opinion against them.

Enough of ASUU's high handedness, the federal government should fix a date for school resumptions, any lecturer that fails to keep up with this directive should be fired and interviews for newly qualified lecturers should be advertised. It's time the federal government acts so our educational sector can saved from the hands of selfish pressure groups such as ASUU.
Bros, if you are benefiting from IPPIS then good for you, Universities said they do not want IPPIS and they brought cheaper alternative, FG has looked into the alternative and soon, I mean very soon, things will normalize for both students and lecturers!
