If you need to hunker down and change identity or IP to stay cool, we'll assume that you will remain somewhere in the cosmos, diligently keeping the historical record of battle front photographs that will one day be requested of you, when the full story of the Sambisa War can finally be told.

You can't say so man, his statement was explicit to service men, but it could also be general.

This is why I hide this thread right here in the first place. I didn't want the publicity.

Thanks a lot man. The COAS's statement just shows how draconian and archaic our military top brass are.

Anyway, it is obvious my time is also up in this thread. If I'm to ever post, it has to be official photos.
Well, guess not..you're not in Service so..I doubt you have any problem..I on the other hand, need a beer in hand..I really need to take a walk this night..

It has been one amazing ride, SiriusBlack, but if you have seen what you feel is a confirmed instruction from the army top brass that they now prefer that this series of battle-front dispatches to be stopped in the interests of operational secrecy, then we the appreciative audience respect our man Sirius Black for abiding by that expressed wish, EVEN IF this fascinating glimpse into Nigeria's war on terror is replaced by a wall of silence as the rest of the war rages.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire free world are with the fighting men and women of the Nigerian military, and, thanks to the foregoing thread and its educative photographic journal, we can picture in our mind's eye the bleak desert landscape, the random horror, the daily acts of unsung heroism, the tragic losses, and, in the fullness of time, the outright victory that will be recorded, of good over evil, amid the burning sands of the Sambisa.
abi naa...Keep me in your prayers bro...ill deactivate my account very soon.

FINAL GOODBYES...
I, SiriusBlack, about a month ago, started this thread on this wonderful platform called Nairaland to show Nigerians the struggles and successes of the Gallant NIGERIAN ARMY through pictorials..the thread was all I did with my spare time, uploading photos and encouraging Nigerians that the Army was working to make the average Nigerian safe..Thanks to guys like Henry's intelligent analysis of weapon systems, EasternLeopard's quite unorthodox tactical advice, Jakumo's frank assessments, IbnSultans ceaseless encouragement, Komekn's constructive criticism, quid's insults, adeyemik's comments, cirmuell's early morning greetings(I see ya bro!), Chris365's encouragements and all other friends I made here while doing this work, we built what can be said th be the best social media thread in this country...I enjoyed all the appreciation of this country's fighting men who toil day and night in the trenches fighting for peace..I was flipping. A popular Defence blog today, when I saw something that broke my heart and almost drove me to tears..while I have never admitted to being a soldier, I felt like the COAS's comments were aimed at this threas and all another defence blog we all know about...I felt sad and disappointed..the COAS referred to internet campaigns for the army as work of "Unpatriotic" and "Disgruntled" elements...my heart sank...all I wanted was some P.R for this war on terror..since all we were fed was inaccuracies on SaharaReporters and co..The Army chief, I believe, simply means that he does not want us to do PR for the Army anymore...perhaps Olukolade can handle it...anyway, I decided to respect his wishes and stop...I still have 654 photos in my archives, with 63 coming in today...but, now, ill stop now...Let the army do its work itself..not to give "disgruntled" elements like me..lol...the journey has been good so far...for now, its Goodbye..ill only resume posting if the Army officially hints that I can continue..till then, wish me luck, pray for me, as I shall, for you all...
Goodbye SIRS.(Salute)

chronique: @ siriusblack: kudos for a thread like this. I've been following thus thread from day one and I love it. It has given me a different view of what the army is facing upnorth and I commend you galant soldiers for the sacrifices you guys have made for people like us to be able to live in peace and go about our business smoothly. May God bless you all. Hinestly,at some point,I was pondering on quitting my business temporarily,to join the army to end this boko haram mess but I couldn't make the decision cos of those dependent on me. I had to look at the issue of their well being and what would happen to them, should the inevitable occur. However,I'm wondering if the army can make use if some kind of unorthodox method in this war. We all know how deadly the ebola virus is and how fast it kills. Can some of the insurgents in captivity be injected with this virus, and then released to the camps of the boko boys. We use it as a decoy in getting each of the kidnapped girls released. We all know what would likely happen to them in 30 days time. One infected insuregnt alone, can infect the while camp. As they bury the dead, they contact it. This would definitely weaken the fighting capabilities of their foot soldiers.
Might be a good idea, but expect the entire North to be infected in a month..they simply don't have healthcare mechanisms to handle that, should it go wrong..secondly, that idea is unheard of..lol

News going round alleged that the NA deliberately looked the other side when Damboa was invaded by BH. The community was accused of selling out the NA to BH and that some people of that community were armor bearer for the BH guys. The report says, their alleged cooperation with the BH boys was said to have led to the killing and maiming of my soldiers. Please is there an iota of truth in this report?
agaugust: There have been betrayals of Nigerian soldiers by some Nigerian civilians in towns and villages where NA posted our troops to protect the people, the same people plan with Boko Haram to trap, ambush and kill our boys, this is from a newspaper report. However, names of such villages and towns were not mentioned. There have been several newspaper reports of civilians cheering and praising Boko Haram when they drive though on their streets to attack Nigerian army and air force men or locations.
These people see Boko Haram as 'saviours' from the hands of a christian President named Jonathan whom they don't like as ruler, because he is a christian. It is unfortunate that many northerners feel this way, what percentage of them, I cannot say, even though I am mixed blood half northerner half southerner by birth, it's hard to say how many northerners are happy about this war, only God sees the heart of man and the heart of man is desperately wicked according to my religion.
QUOTE, NEWS REPORT EXTRACT :
"Let me tell you that some communities are peculiar in the war on terror as some of their residents supported Boko Haram in the ambush and attacks on our troops. In the past, they gathered at a square to cheer the insurgents whenever a military personnel was captured and was being murdered. Young ones in the town even play with severed heads of victims.
That was why some soldiers were reluctant to lay down their lives in some communities where innocent troops who were out to protect them were being misled for ambush. The situation is changing now as community leaders and youths are supporting the military offensives."

rationalmind: Good Job sirusblack.

I have a question which might appear naive, or perhaps, downright silly. It's the type you expect from a military illiterate like myself.

I still don't understand how soldiers get killed during battles cos obviously they are always on bullet proof vests and according to you, now use ballistic helmets(which I guess is bulletproof).

Okay, the bullet proof isn't supposed to cover areas such as the legs, arms, e.t.c. But then, one isn't supposed to die from gun shots in those places.

While I admit one could die from a shot on the neck, it appears quite difficult to target and cannot account for all deaths of soldiers during battles.

So bro, I'm curious to know how soldiers get killed during gun battles.

PS: Pardon my ignorance cheesy
hahaha...well, our casualties would have been triple if not for the vests and helmets....so iin conclusion, its not a bulletproof vest that will save your life..its luck.
