Culture / 32 Crowned Obas In Ibadan Is Just A Joke Carried Too Far — Olubadan by sirlekzy: 11:53am On Aug 23, 2017

THE Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has again raised objection to the review of 1957 Olubadan chieftaincy declaration saying he would never support the move.

In his reaction to the recommendation that 32 beaded-crown wearing kings be recognised in his domain, he said the review being midwived by Governor Abiola Ajimobi was nothing but a “joke carried too far”.

Speaking through his Director of Media, Mr Adeola Oloko, Olubadan expressed his displeasure at the comments by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Bimbo Kolade, on a private radio station.

The Oba said his opposition to the chieftaincy review embarked upon by the State Government stands. According to the monarch, the erroneous impression in that interview was that Kabiyesi had at one time opposed the chieftaincy review before he later changed his mind to support it. This, he said, was far from the truth.

Olubadan said; “For the avoidance of doubt, there was never a time that Olubadan supported the review. This was why the first class monarch did not submit any memorandum nor make any presentation to the panel.

“When last week the panel submitted its report to the State Governor, the public would vividly remember that Olubadan was not in the picture at all, because he was not invited. Both the young and old in Ibadan know that the Ibadan chieftaincy system is not a creation of the government. It is a creation of Ibadan people. No king, no governor, no elite, no High Chief has the right to tamper with the system without recourse to our people. How many town hall meetings has the state government convened before arriving at the conclusion that Ibadan deserves 32 crowns?”

“To show ignorance of our tradition, the panel lumped our highly respected High Chiefs with baales who are always nominated by the family Mogajis. Secondly, if the traditional institution wants a review, it is not the duty of government to spearhead the review. It is the duty of the Olubadan sitting in council to sit down and look at what they want to review and register same to the State Government for approval.

In Ile-Ife, where the Commissioner mentioned in the interview, this is the tradition. The Osun State Government did not spearhead the review. In Lagos and Ogun States, the case is similar.

Politics / Jubilation In Abuja, Others As Buhari Returns After 104 Days by sirlekzy: 8:55am On Aug 20, 2017
There was wild jubilation in Abuja, Katsina and other parts of the country on Saturday as President Muhammadu Buhari returned to the country from London, United Kingdom where he had been for medical treatment since May 7.

Security operatives had a hectic time controlling the crowd as the President’s long motorcade moved from the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to the Presidential Villa.

Many residents of the Federal Capital Territory thronged the major roads from the airport to catch a glimpse of the President, who had spent 104 days outside Nigeria.

Some of them were singing, dancing with banners of the President’s portraits in hand, while others jostled to take photographs of the President’s convoy with their mobile phones.

The presidential aircraft that conveyed Buhari landed at the airport at 4.35pm to the excitement of all those present.

The aircraft then taxied to the tarmac amidst music played by the Guards Brigade along with a cultural troupe performing at the airport.

The President disembarked from the aircraft, NAF 001, at 4.48pm. He was received by top government officials led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Decked in a brown kaftan, Buhari mounted a rostrum and saluted the guard of honour.

He did not inspect the guard of honour before proceeding to acknowledge cheers from well-wishers and the dancers.

He, thereafter, got into his official car to be driven to the Presidential Villa.

The airport was at a standstill as workers made frantic efforts to get a glimpse of him.

Airport roads shut, travellers, commuters stranded

Hundreds of workers, travellers and other airport users were stranded at the airport following the closure of roads in the area.

Many travellers and other people at the airport were forced to wait, as security operatives cleared dignitaries who had come to welcome the President.

Despite the closure of roads and the delay of the travellers at the airport, many of them were excited to see the President back in the country.

On roads leading to the airport were hundreds of people singing and dancing, as they welcomed Buhari.

There were chants of “Sai baba!” as some youths performed some stunts with their vehicles and motorbikes.

Other groups of people displayed placards with messages like: “Welcome home, dear President”; “Sai Baba”; and “We love Buhari” as they struggled to catch a glimpse of the President.

There were other excited Nigerians who moved closer to the car the President was riding in, screaming, “Sai baba!” as they danced, following the slowly moving convoy of Buhari.

Earlier, there was commotion at the commercial wing of the NAIA as air passengers and workers rushed out in excitement to see Buhari immediately his aircraft touched down.

Those at the commercial terminals tried to push their way through to the tarmac but were stopped by security officials and personnel of the Federal Airports Authority.

“I would have loved to see at least his plane, because I know there’s no way I can see him from this departure terminal,” Okeke Benny, a Lagos-bound passenger said.

Daura residents jubilate

Residents of Daura – Buhari’s hometown – in Katsina State on Saturday evening suspended various activities they were engaged in to watch the President return to the country on television.

The residents who had waited patiently for the news of the arrival of the President, thereafter, began to dance as they sang to praise him.

In a carnival-like manner, some residents took to the streets in their vehicles and motorbikes;some drove around the town singing praises to God for bringing Buhari back to the country hale and hearty.

Business activities remained paralysed in major commercial areas, including Sabonline, Kofa-kaoran,Mani Road, Nagogo Road, and Ibrahim Babangida Way, in Katsina as many traders stayed glue to the TV.

Some youths were also seen in places like Rafindadi, Kofar Kwaya, Kofar Durbi and Kofar Sauri, also in Katsina singing Buhari’s praises and going from one place to the other.

A Daura resident, Shuaibu Haruna, said, “I am happy. At least, we shall all see our President and this will further shame those branding rumours around about him.”

Another resident, Hassan Dajuma, said, “You know, some people have cashed in on President Buhari’s absence to unnecessarily heat up the polity. Now, with his return, I foresee normalcy. I am happy for him; I am happy for our great country over his return.”

Speaking on Buhari’s return to the country, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, told reporters at the airport that Buhari’s return had nothing to do with the #ReturnOrResign protests that took place in Nigeria and London.

Adesina said he and some presidential aides knew about his return some days back.

Adesina had earlier on Saturday issued a statement in which he announced that Buhari would return to the country later in the day and address Nigerians through a national broadcast on Monday.

The statement read, “President Buhari is expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7 am on Monday, August 21, 2017. He thanks all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well-being since the beginning of the health challenge.”

Education / Ladoke Akinola University Incessant Strike Turns Student To Soap Manufacturer by sirlekzy: 7:42am On Aug 18, 2017
The Incessant strike at the Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology, Ogbomoso has become blessing in disguise for a 300 n-level Mechanical Engineering student of the university – Olutoba Olayiwola as he has become a soap manufacturer.

Olayiwola, whom our reporter came across on Thursday in the Osogbo metropolis said the frustration and danger inherent in staying idle at home for months prompted him to think outside the box and went into manufacturing of dish washing soap.

According to him, the first phase of the strike, which spanned a period of 9 months from June 13, 2016 till February 20, 2017 compelled him to start a thorough research for the technique of soap-making.

“I have learnt through my experience of life that learning does not end up in classroom, one must learn squarely, this is the mindset that propelled me to learn the science of soap-making when academic activities came to a halt on our campus due to incessant strike.

“You know, I believe government and other stakeholders in the education sector do not know the serious danger embedded in idleness, especially for energetic youths like us, it exposes and pushes young people to all sorts of social vices, it is simply catastrophic.

“It is against this backdrop that I devised means of making good use of my precious time, and prepare my self for a better future, I believe my life must not be blindly tied to a frustrating system.

The 9-month of stay-at-home order by our lecturers, between June 2016 and February 2017 afforded me the opportunity to embark on comprehensive research to acquire a distinct knowledge of soap-making at a research firm in Ibadan.

“Upon resumption in February this year, after spending 9 months at home, and with satisfactory knowledge of soap-making, I stumbled on a motivational book, titled” Rich Dad, Poor Dad, written by Robert T. Kiyosaki.

“Obviously, reading this book marked a turning point in my life, it ignited a profound zeal of entrepreneurship in me, which I transformed into reality during the on-going phase of strike that kick started on May 6”, Olayiwola stressed.

He described his product as distinctly creative, with addition of new adhesive like Aloe-vera.

“My product, which I called “Full Moon” is specifically conceptualised to give different feelings to dish washing soap,as it comes with Aloe-vera.

Olayiwola, however called on government to help and encourage indigenous manufacturing firms to grow, in order to strengthen the real sector of Nigerian economy, as he enjoined youths to be creative.

Education / Re: NANS Gives Federal Govt 21 Days To Resolve ASUU Strike by sirlekzy: 7:34am On Aug 18, 2017
sirlekzy:
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Federal Government (FG) to look into the plight of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) or face the wrath of students.

According to the National President of NANS, Mr Chinonso Obasi, who gave the threat in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, the FG has just 21 days to resolve its outstanding issues with ASUU in the interest of long-suffering Nigerian students.

He said Nigerian students will be forced to ground activities in the country if by the expiration of their twenty-one days ultimatum, the issue was not resolved.

“NANS finds it hard to believe that past governments will fail to honour agreements with members of ASUU for more than seven years,”he said.

Obasi added that NANS would be meeting in the coming week with leaders of ASUU to find out their irreducible minimum in their demands.

SEE ALSO: 7 Things Nigerian Students Can Do While ASUU Is On Strike

He explained that the students would be forced to bear the brunt of the collapse in the negotiation between the union and the government.

“It is with deep pain and regret that NANS received the news of another indefinite strike by ASUU over the Federal Government’s indifference to their plight.

“Nigerian students sees the breakdown in negotiations as a further proof that political leaders don’t care about their future.

“Consequently, we wish to call on the Federal Government to do all it can to get ASUU back to the classrooms.

“The demands of ASUU are reasonable and touch on the integrity of government, especially in the light of the fight against corruption,” he said.

It would be recalled that ASUU on Monday officially announced the commencement of its nationwide strike at a news conference held in Abuja. (NAN)

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court which gave the ruling also granted Adedokun one surety in like sum.

In addition, she said the surety must be a civil servant of not less than Grade Level 05.

Adedokun, 36, is facing a three-count of fraud, stealing and forgery.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offences between April 28, 2015 and January 1, 2016 at OAU.

Osanyintuyi alleged that the accused collected N221,000 from the complainant, Capt. Bukola Olanrewaju, with a promise to help him pay his school fees.

Education / Oyo, Osun Tumble As Abia Tops WASSCE State Performance by sirlekzy: 6:17am On Aug 12, 2017
Abia, Rivers, Edo, Imo and Bayelsa have emerged the best performing states in the 2016 and 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The quartet led the chart in the performance of school candidates who passed five subjects in the examination, including English and Mathematics, in 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the offshore countries of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Republic and Cote D’Ivoire.

Abia came out strong at 81.54 per cent, followed by Rivers State at 78.59 per cent.

Edo State was third with 77.41 per cent while Imo State recorded 76.46 per cent.

At 74.38 per cent and 71.83 per cent Bayelsa and Anambra states emerged in the fifth and sixth positions nationally.

The ranked performance of states in five subjects in the WASSCE (including English and Mathematics), is released annually by the West African Examination Council, with the latest being the 2016 diet of the examination.

Typically, candidates are expected to have at least five credits, including the two prime subjects, to gain admission into any higher institution of learning in the country.

Other states which recorded a good outing in the examination include Ondo (68.43 per cent, 7th position), Taraba (64.76 per cent, 8th position), Lagos (64.31 per cent, 9th position), Delta (63.43 per cent, 10th position), Enugu (61.14 per cent, 11th position) and Cross River (60.42 per cent, 12th position).

However, the South-West states, often regarded as leaders in the education sector, put up a less sterling performance in the examination. Aside from Ondo, Lagos and Ekiti which emerged in the seventh, ninth and 14th positions respectively, Ogun and Osun states, with 53.24 per cent and 46.77 per cent respectively, were outperformed by five northern states, including Borno, to emerge in the 19th and 24th position nationwide. At 36.69 per cent, Oyo is the least performing of the south west states. It emerged in the 29th position nationwide, falling further below Adamawa, Ebonyi, Kano and Katsina states.

At 14.25 per cent, Yobe State is the least performing on the chart, emerging in number 38. Others include offshore countries (Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Republic and Cote D’Ivoire, 37th position); Zamfara (16.07 per cent, 36th position); Gombe (17.36 per cent, 35th position); Jigawa (18.45 per cent, 34 position); Kebbi (22.65 per cent, 33rd position); Sokoto (29.90 per cent, 32nd position) and Bauchi (33.82 per cent, 31st position).

According to the Head, Public Affairs Unit of the WAEC, Mr. Demianus Ojijeogu, the state ranking is released annually and sent to ministries of education to assist in the implementation of policies in the education sector.

“The ranking is sent to states so that those who are already doing well will not rest on their oars and those who are not doing very well can look at what the states with best performing candidates are doing in order to improve. It is also to help states to implement their policies in terms of teaching and learning, pupils’ attitude, teacher training, among others,” he said.

Politics / Obasanjo, Yar’adua, Jonathan Wasted N11tn On Electricity –SERAP by sirlekzy: 10:44am On Aug 10, 2017
A human rights advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, on Wednesday released a report detailing how over N11tn had been pumped into the power sector since 1999 without any result to show for it.

The group, in the 65-page report it launched in Lagos, concluded that the funds were squandered under the administrations of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan.

In the report titled, “From darkness to darkness: How Nigerians are paying the price for corruption in the electricity sector,” SERAP concluded that the perennial poor power supply in the country was proof of corruption in the power sector.

generation. $13.278,937,409.94 was expended on the power sector in eight years while unfunded commitments amounted to $12bn.

“The Federal Government then budgeted a whopping N16bn for the various reforms under Liyel Imoke (2003- 2007) which went down the drain as it failed to generate the needed amount of electricity or meet the set goals.”

Presenting the report to journalists on Wednesday on behalf of SERAP, an associate professor of Energy/Electricity Law at the University of Lagos, Yemi Oke, said, “The country has lost more megawatts in the post-privatisation era due to corruption, impunity, among other social challenges as reflected in the report.

“The much-publicised power sector reforms in Nigeria, under the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005, have yet to yield desired and anticipated fruits largely due to corruption and impunity of perpetrators, regulatory lapses and policy inconsistencies. Ordinary Nigerians continue to pay the price for corruption in the electricity sector–staying in darkness, but still made to pay crazy electricity bills.”

At the event, which held in Ikeja, a human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), commended SERAP for the project, vowing to ride upon the recommendations in the report to institute appropriate legal actions against the government.

Falana, who was the chairman on the occasion, said, “This report is a must read, and I promise to lead in the follow-up litigation efforts to ensure the full implementation of the recommendations of the report.”

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, was represented on the occasion by the Director, Public Affairs, EFCC, Mr. Osita Nwajah, who promised that the anti-graft agency would look into the recommendations contained in the report.

Among other recommendations, SERAP advised that federal lawmakers must desist from manipulating the award of electricity contracts under the guise of constituency projects.

Sports / Ten Questions For Teams As Premier League Kicks Off On Friday by sirlekzy: 10:27am On Aug 10, 2017
With the new Premier League season kicking off on Friday, AFP Sport looks at 10 questions ahead of the new campaign:

See Also: http://www.360ray.com.ng/music-demarco-ft-akon-runtown-no-wahala/

Will Conte avoid second-season slump?
Just three months after lifting the Premier League trophy, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has described the new season as the most “difficult” test of his career.

In the past two seasons, Chelsea and Leicester City have both sacked their managers less than a year after winning the title.

Conte has spent over £100 million ($130 million, 110.8 million euros) on Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger to avoid becoming the third axed champion.

Can Wenger salve old wounds?
Despite ending last season on high thanks to their FA Cup triumph against Chelsea, divisions still run deep at Arsenal over Arsene Wenger’s lack of success in the Premier League and Europe over the last 13 years.

Out of the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, Arsenal must make a fast start and avoid their usual winter swoon to keep the natives from becoming even more restless.

Has Guardiola learnt English lessons?
Unable to replicate his dominance with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola admitted his trophyless first season with Manchester City had been a learning experience.

Spending over £200 million on six new players, including Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker and Monaco duo Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva, puts Guardiola in a position to mount a stronger challenge this time.

Will Mourinho deliver?
Jose Mourinho’s first season at Manchester United was a qualified success, with a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Premier League offset by Europa League and League Cup silverware.

Not content with that, Mourinho has spent over £140 million on Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof in a bid to win United’s first league title since 2013.

Can Spurs make final step?
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has assembled a side capable of holding their own against anyone, but for two years in a row they have fallen short in the title race.

Having finished seven points behind Chelsea, Spurs have yet to make a single signing, while Walker’s sale to City and a season playing their home games at Wembley adds to Pochettino’s problems.

Will Liverpool click for Klopp?
After a fourth-place finish last season, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp splashed out a club-record £43.9 million on Roma winger Mohamed Salah, boosting a squad already brimming with potential.

But with Barcelona chasing star man Philippe Coutinho, winning Liverpool’s first title since 1990 would be a remarkable achievement for Klopp.

Download : [Music] Olamide Ft. Skolade – WO! (Remix)

Can Lukaku justify his price-tag?
Spurning interest from his former club Chelsea, Lukaku opted to join Manchester United in a £75 million deal that was a record for a transfer between British clubs.

Lukaku has scored 85 Premier League goals in the past five seasons and the 24-year-old Belgian’s ability to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be key to United’s title aspirations.

How high can Everton go?
Encouraged by Everton’s seventh-place finish last season, manager Ronald Koeman has gone for broke in a bid to crack the top four.

Using the money from Lukaku’s sale, he has brought former Toffees star Wayne Rooney back home, while spending over £90 million on Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford among others.

Can Lacazette carry Arsenal hopes?
With the future of unsettled Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez still up in the air, France striker Alexandre Lacazette arrives as the long-term face of Arsenal’s attack after his club-record switch from Lyon.

Lacazette hit 37 goals in 45 games last season and Wenger desperately needs the 26-year-old to emulate that form.

What next for Leicester?
It seems a lot longer than 15 months since Leicester City’s fairytale title win in 2016.

A dismal title defence and the shock sacking of Claudio Ranieri raised questions about the players’ character, but a run to the Champions League quarter-finals under Craig Shakespeare augured well.

Celebrities / Fela Appears To Me In Dreams – Yeni by sirlekzy: 10:01am On Aug 10, 2017
Yeni, the first daughter of the late creator of Afrobeat music, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has come up with what she believes is a solution to the ever-increasing incidence of corruption in Nigeria.

Speaking during a radio talk-show titled, ‘The discourse with Jimi Disu’ and broadcast on the Classic FM 97.3 recently, the out-spoken lady urged the Federal Government to consider adopting traditional African medicine (also known as ‘juju’) as a tool for fighting corruption, especially in official circles.

Yeni, who shares her late dad’s belief in the potency of ‘juju’, noted that government should use it to administer oaths to elected officials and government appointees, instead of the Holy Bible and the Koran.

“Just as Sophie Oyewole has suggested, let them use it to swear in government officials and we shall see if anybody will continue to steal our money in this country or not. I am sure that if they are made to swear by Ogun or some other fearsome African deity, there will be no more corruption,” she said.

Saying that Fela had appeared to her in a dream on some occasions, she added, “It’s 20 years since my father died, but it doesn’t seem as if he has been gone for so long. I miss him and I still talk to him in my mind. He and other departed members of my family have also appeared to me in my dreams. I don’t know if it is right to say that they appear to me, but I see them in my dreams. I dream of them a lot.”

A self-confessed ‘free thinker’ with a bias for ATR, Yeni also disclosed that some people had come to her in the past and claimed they had messages from her father. But she never listened to them. “I believe in life after death. Also I believe that if my father has a message for me, he will come directly to me and not go through someone I don’t know or like. If anybody tells me that Fela has sent a message to me through him, I would tell him to ask my dad to appear to me directly himself,” she said.

Although it was no secret that Fela, despite coming from a deeply Christian background, never encouraged his children to attend church services, Yeni made another revelation when she said that she did attend church occasionally. “But that is when I am invited to weddings, burial ceremonies or other events,” she quickly added.

Sports / Top 10 Premier League Transfers Of 2017/18 Season (100% Correct) by sirlekzy: 2:55pm On Aug 09, 2017
Ahead of Arsenal’s home game with Leicester City in the curtain-raiser to the new Premier League season on Friday, AFPSport selects the 10 biggest transfers of the close season:

Romelu Lukaku

– Everton to Manchester United; £75 million ($97.5 million, 83 million euros) rising to £90 million*

After four increasingly prolific seasons at Everton, Belgium striker Lukaku has been given another shot at the big time with Manchester United.

Lukaku, 24, has been brought in to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and will hope to do a better job of impressing manager Jose Mourinho than he managed during their time together at Chelsea.

Alvaro Morata

– Real Madrid (ESP) to Chelsea; £58 million*

With Diego Costa having been very publicly frozen out by manager Antonio Conte, Chelsea broke their transfer record to sign 24-year-old Spain striker Morata.

He made an inauspicious start to his Chelsea career by squandering his spot-kick in a Community Shield penalty shootout loss to Arsenal.

Benjamin Mendy

– Monaco (FRA) to Manchester City; £52 million*

Saddled with an ageing group of full-backs, Pep Guardiola found it difficult to play the kind of thrusting football he loves in his maiden campaign as Manchester City manager.

He has taken remedial action during the close season, most notably forking out £52 million to make France left-back Mendy the game’s most expensive defender.

Alexandre Lacazette

– Lyon (FRA) to Arsenal; £46.5 million rising to £52.6 million*

France striker Lacazette had been poised to join Atletico Madrid, only for the Court of Arbitration for Sport to uphold a transfer ban against the Spanish club.

Arsenal stepped in, breaking their transfer record to sign the 26-year-old, who was the top-scoring Frenchman in Ligue 1 in each of the last three seasons.

Kyle Walker

– Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City; £45 million rising to £50 million*

The second of Manchester City’s three new full-backs (the other being Brazilian Danilo), Walker arrived from Spurs after Dani Alves opted to join Paris Saint-Germain over rejoining forces with Guardiola.

Walker’s flying raids down the right flank for Tottenham have turned him into England’s first-choice number two.

Bernardo Silva

– Monaco (FRA) to Manchester City; £43 million*

Portuguese playmaker Silva pitched up at City after his 11 goals and 12 assists inspired Monaco to Ligue 1 glory and a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

The 22-year-old is expected to line up on the right flank for City, as he did at Monaco, but is likely to have been earmarked as the long-term successor to his namesake David Silva.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

– Monaco (FRA) to Chelsea; £40 million*

The third player to have left Monaco for England, France midfielder Bakayoko will make Chelsea’s midfield an even more intimidating prospect.

Tall and muscular, the former Rennes player will provide a redoubtable physical presence alongside the buzzing N’Golo Kante.

Nemanja Matic

– Chelsea to Manchester United; £40 million*

Deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea following Bakayoko’s arrival, Matic moved to United to link up with Mourinho, who previously brought him back to Chelsea from Benfica in 2014.

A stylish but steely holding midfielder, the 28-year-old Serbia international will provide a counterweight for the forward runs of last year’s star signing, Paul Pogba.

Ederson

– Benfica (POR) to Manchester City; £35 million*

The goalkeeping situation gave Guardiola constant problems during his first season at the Etihad Stadium, with Claudio Bravo proving an inadequate replacement for Joe Hart, who was loaned out to Torino.

Guardiola moved to remedy the problem by signing 23-year-old Brazilian Ederson, who became the world’s second most expensive goalkeeper after Gianluigi Buffon.

Mohamed Salah

– Roma (ITA) to Liverpool; £34 million*

A bright light in a gloomy transfer window for Liverpool.

Egyptian winger Salah did not get a look-in during his previous spell with Chelsea, but he excelled in Serie A with Fiorentina and Roma, scoring 35 goals in 81 games.

* denotes fee as reported by British media

Abeg who is The Best signing Yet?

Education / 91-year-old Grandma Graduates From University In Thailand (Photos) by sirlekzy: 1:20pm On Aug 09, 2017
A 91-year-old grandma became the oldest person to graduate from university in Thailand on Wednesday, receiving her bachelor’s degree from King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Escorted by her family, Kimlun Jinakul travelled more than 700 km from the northern province of Phayao to Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, near Bangkok, to receive her bachelor’s degree in human ecology.

“It has always been my dream to continue my studies,” Kimlun told local TV station Thai PBS.

She said that she had finished junior high school but couldn’t continue her education at the time because her family couldn’t finance it.

Kimlun said: “When I was young, I actually received good grades.

“I have always enjoyed reading. I even bought manuals to educate myself so I could help my children with their homework.”

Kimlun said she became inspired to continue her formal studies in 2011, once her children and grandchildren had received university educations and found decent jobs.

“It’s never too late to study,” she said.

“She is a very determined person,” said Bhum Juasiripakdee, one of Kimlun’s grandchildren.

“We all support her while making sure she remains in good health.”

The university said Kimlun had not received any special treatment in terms of grading.

In fact, she failed half of her courses and had to retake examinations several times.

“The university provided me with a lot of conveniences,” Kimlun said.

“They allocated rooms on the ground floor for me so I did not have to climb the stairs.”

The university is the first in Thailand to offer distance learning to elderly people.

Almost 200 people older than 60 have enrolled.

That's a wonderful feat. The 'traditional' belief has always been... "Write original articles of about 30+, About Us,... bla bla bla... and then be patient or endure for 6 month's before the almighty approval. Now, you've just disproved that. Kudos man.

Some people actually don't know the basics before applying... Thanks man
