Any course/degree programme can be 'hard'. 'Hard' is relative and it sometimes depends on who is talking and 'Who' is listening. I'm sure elect/elect, accounting/law can also come forward and say their courses are also not hard . Besides I'm sure there are probably courses that are much more harder than medicine . |

Education › Re: FG Considers Shifting January 18 School Resumption Date by SirWarlock: 11:16am On Jan 12, 2021 |
matm: I am surprised to hear people condemning the alleged proposed action of the federal govt.During the first lockdown when govt was planning on safe reopening of schools, almost every one was condemning the action on nairaland including students who claimed they were using the period to make a lot of money and that school is scam.Mothers most of who would never wear nose masks unless they sighted a taskforce group were ranting online that even if govt reopened schools that they won't realese their kids stating that it's only a mother who doesn't love her kids that would allow them start school amidst pandemic and that the lives of their kids is more important than school. A lot of people cursed Boss Mustapha for planning to kill their kids with school resumption amidst pandemic. Now,govt has said, obey covid 19 protocols and there is almost zero compliance. Even if schools are reopened and there is full compliance with covid 19 rules at school, what about parents of those school kids who having thrown caution to the wind loiter up and down in markets, churches and other public gatherings with no nose mask.Wont they infect their kids (,if they contract the virus)when they are back from school? What is difficult in everyone obeying covid 19 rules? or is it meant for schools, banks and govt agencies alone? The same parents who don't obey covid 19 rules are saying, open schools with school compliance to covid 19 rules while they themselves don't care about the rules and at the same time claim they love their kids more than God.HYPOCRISY. What the govt should do is this:Let there be aggressive enforcement of the rules for all with penalties using task force agents that should be set up by every village/community in Nigeria. Schools then should be reopened based on same guideline.Even if schools remain shut, the students at home are still mingling in public places with their parents without abiding by the rules and so the rate of infection will keep multiplying. Nigerians can only obey rules when consequences of defaulting are still strictly enforced down to the grassroot. most of the uproar is about tertiary institutions. But honestly it should go beyond tertiary. My younger brother in secondary school will soon go a whole year at home and it has affected him badly . Like either he starts to get engaged again or it's going to be downhill from here . |

BreconHills: Nigeria cannot stop its citizen carrying a valid international passport from entering the country. What it can do is shut down the airport. The economy is not robust enough for a lockdown - even though i personally would want an immediate circuit breaker lockdown followed by selective restrictions based on LGA's but I doubt that will happen.
The big problem is that a lot of people do not believe that this disease is anything other than malaria or that it even exists at all. This group consists largely of young people who are literally killing their parents and older people. The FG has shown a lock of commitment and imagination for dealing with this disease. But truth is the FG has never cared for peoples lives. Only we can do this by educating one fool at a time. Most Nigerians don't care about death until they see it looming and then they start begging and pleading.
I almost lost two brothers to this disease and I have lost several friends. But we must face the reality that it will be our responsibility to stay alive. They never and still don't care. I look at them saying doom just like last year when we were supposed to be counting bodies in the hundreds. Imagine if we actually had increased surveillance on cases . Just last week doctors were crying of how the isolation clinic in UATH hasn't been completed even after a year . Or they're just revamping oxygen plants . Or how they just let 20k people arriving into the country put everyone in danger . Just look at Kogi state getting away with being supposedly covid free . Plateau and Kaduna don't need help cos they record high numbers but they just carry on like that . If Nigerians are a minus for doubting the virus then the PTF and Government are a zero . |

Countries initially cut off borders with the UK and South Africa on hearing of the new variant over there(why UK still hasn't closed down their airspace but that's another thing entirely) but we said we're observing the situation? Where we've heard from them that about 20k who arrived the country haven't completely stuck to the rules? . Then they close schools down now and what? So they were never ready for resumption last year all along? |

NewDelhi: Forget about corona virus and let's move on with our normal lives. Even in developed countries , it's exagerrated, propaganda and has been turned to a political tool. By the time Joe Biden resumes office on 20th, CNN will remove all those deceptive and lies ridden corona updates on the right hand side of their screen. They used it as a tool to ridicule the Republicans. over 180 affected countries and you bring up just one . At least if you want to say developed countries you should have brought more . |

Just say you want to people to bash him cos 18th isn't sure anymore. I can bet more people that will see this are ready to start with his religion and ethnic group and you know this . And in the end if they do shift the date it might not be far off from the 18th they proposed and they would have to get states that resumed far early to agree and also Kogi state . You can blast the entire ptf for the rubbish handling of the pandemic from their part, it's not on just adamu adamu . I also disagree with their nonsense decisions cos it's nonsense! |

Verance: Agreed, if covid-19 exists here, the number of persons that have contracted the disease must be way way higher that the number of daily testings conducted and positive cases reported. If this is the case, it means many Nigerians had or now have covid-19 unbeknownst to them. The big question is, if such is the case, why aren't people getting sick simultaneously around the country? Why aren't people dieing randomly and mysteriously from the "deadly" disease?
My submission is that if covid-19 is real in this country, then a large percentage of Nigerians have contracted this virus (far far more than the near 100k reported) and the fact that there has not been a wave of sickness or hospitalisation in Nigeria proves that covid-19 is not a problem to us. Consider the fact that Nigerians do not follow prevention protocols at all (wearing of facemasks is like closing only one out of 50 doors open to the virulent virus) compared to a country like England where the populace generally follows protocols to the letter, yet had 55k cases a single day some days back—more than half the reported cases in Nigeria since February 2020. If you have a contrary view, let me know, I am open to learning. I brought this up before. Bodies like ncdc and the NIMR would have gone round and carry out research/survey at why covid is still low and people aren't getting sick in droves when they don't even care about the virus . What percentage of the population could have been already infected/anitibody tests. Why are we even in a second wave sef and it's still uneven and inconsistent. They even act like the second wave is affecting everywhere when till date I'm sure testing hasn't gotten to some LGAs But no it's just drop numbers at night & insha Allah . States also are just dropping numbers with no meat to them . It's just hard to take the Press task force seriously when A state is supposedly covid free and has gotten away with it . Just a bunch passive and reactive press briefers . |
