No one is making such comparison. at least not me. but since Nigerian cops are bad, thought i should show that dude how civilized brave US cops operate. plenty of videos online on their atrocities against civilians, planting drugs on gang members, falsifying records et . two new york cops just got fired for raping a 15yr old girl. point is, quit putting these countries on a pedestal while putting down ur own ( generally speaking) SamuelAnyawu: Only an ignorant fellow will compare USA security system with Nigeria.
Here in Nigeria human lives are just numbers. Imagine the Bandit killing spree going on in Zamfara state.
People just wan talk Abeg |

I'm wailing? lol. i live here, you dont. I'm just showing you the other side of the coin. anywhere can be better and rarely any country is a paradise. go and tell that to the millions of Americans that are victimized yearly. both by their fellow citizens and by the police. You seem to have this one sided view of the country, I'm only showing you the other, so you can get off ur kness and stop licking their buttcracks. DubaiLandLord1: You're always wailing about the USA, yet you no come back to Nigeria, which is far better than the USA
In terms of security, USA is far far secured than Nigeria. |

black man mentality. Would an American official fly to Nigeria to defend himself in a nigerian court? if they want him tried, they can send the case files to Nigeria and Nigeria's own courts will pick it up. fvk going to US to defend himself. what kind of garbage is that. DubaiLandLord1: An arrest warrant have been issue, let Kyari go and prove his innocence in the USA. |

odd, only got a little pain in my arm for a few days, nothing else. usually people dont get much symptoms from the 1st shot. good thing you didn't catch covid itself lol. would have been bad for you SuperSixSeven: I also got Pfizer and i felt bad for about 2 days after receiving the first shot and then suddenly it was all gone. A Strange experience. |

its an opinion plus fact. wanna risk blood clot? i wouldnt. and its efficacy is also low compared to moderna or pfizer. j&j vaccine now comes with a warning here in the US, due to potentially lethal side effects. i took pfizer, which has the highest effectiveness of them all Which one you getting? i believe j&j is single dose. Lurker4Long: The bolded being the operative sentiment. I'm going for my 2nd jab on 12 August. Just in time to get my vaccine passport so I can attend my cousin's wedding in Denmark in September. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by sizzorchan: 12:24pm On Jul 22, 2021 |
j&j is useless, less effective and dangerous side effects. IMHO. I'm getting my 2nd dose today after work. a bit nervous lol. I've called off work for tomorrow. in case i get fever, chills and headaches. i hate this Lurker4Long: Off-topic
Our vaccination seems to be picking up. Phase 1 was health care workers; Phase 2a was over 60s; Phase 2b was over 50s; Phase 3 was teachers, police, military and prisons; Phase 4 currently is over 35s.
And in other news we're now locally producing both Johnson & Johnson (1 jab) and Pfizer (2 jabs) vaccines for SA, the African continent and elsewhere in the world (for poorer countries sourcing through the COVAX facility). |

Same Taliban that flew to Russia just a few days ago to hold high level meeting with the Russians, don't they also have a foreign office in Qatar or something. And the UK just said they'd be willing to work with them. at the end of the day, it's all politics. only feel sorry for those who go deployed there for no good reason The talibans willybaby: I chose to dis agree, the Taliban might be called a terrorist group but I see them more as a political group, remember they once ruled the whole of Afghanistan infact they were massively cheered into power then, secondly the Taliban is helped also by topography of where they operate, mountains valleys caves etc huge loads of them to hide in..
Boko is pure terror, a force only bent on destruction they too enjoy a little bit of aid from d society, also have sambisa and the Chad region to hide in, but Nigeria alone decimated Boko haram the Taliban I don't think has ever been wiped by USA, Russia, NATO, like we've done with Boko mind you we started the war lacking proper modern equipments to persecute asymetric warfare |

well you just nailed it. obviously that's what I'm talking about. everything i mentioned would require top to bottom reform, thought that was obvious . right now whether you make money from your business or not, you have to pay a certain amount in tax, which is wrong. why tax people for money they never made. At least in Akure that was the deal back then. its odd. GabrielYulaw: I don't think we as a country are gonna get rich and become like Dubai once more of us start paying tax. It's not that simple.
First, consider the fact that there are businesses in states like Lagos that pay from 30-50 different legal and illegal taxes every year to the federal, state, and local government, plus to agberos, Mami water, and what have you. I would say most businesses are already overtaxed as it is.
Plus the the tax collected from businesses and people too either disappear into private pockets or are embezzled by those in power. All the tax money that has been collected from us all compare what has been done with it to what could have been done with it.
Out there in markets, people making maybe 500 naira to 1k gross profit daily get mercilessly taxed. I'm talking about women with small basins of soap or okro who sit by the roadside and pay multiple taxes daily to touts and the local government just for the privilege of selling in the market. Seeing this kind of thing always makes me furious. Taxing the most poor and vulnerable among us is pure madness.
Second, businesses these days provide their own electricity, water, security and general amenities. They essentially do the work the government is supposed to be doing with the tax money it collects and at the end get taxed with nothing to show for it. That's total madness and cannot ever make sense to me.
Part of the reason prices are so high in naija is the number of legal and illegal taxes out there that businesses are made to pay, which get factored into the price of what they are selling. Enter Keke for example and see how much the drivers pay in tax to the police, local government, touts, and everyone but Santa Claus.
So, saying we only need to pay more tax to become an advanced society makes zero sense to me. What's needed is total reform of everything in this country. And that includes our brains, cos sometimes I'm not sure we are in our right senses, no offense meant.
Edit: It's okay not to agree or be insulted by the last sentence. I apologise. But just spend a day in a place like Lagos and I'm sure you will understand what I mean. |

isn't that what I've been saying. who in their right mind think we can develop solely on borrowed money. tax tax and tax. those dangotes in nigeria, tax them all. force every one who runs a business to register it, get registration number that can be easily checked by officials, so as to avoid fake documents. restaurants should have their license certificate on the wall of their business, same for barber shops, street food vendors etc, its how it's done here. make sure people building new structures get permit, these little sums will add up before you blink. give out fines for violators, Enforcement is key. make sure every businesses file their taxes by year end etc. Not rocket science, but for us, might as well be. Grade every establishment that sell food from A to D, those below B, fine them, those with a score of D get shut down, then once they fix whatever disgusting sh!t the inspector found, reinspect again and then they can reopen. we of course don't take food safety seriously over there. Fines and taxes, these are gold mines for developed countries. Owners of Every standing commercial structure in Nigeria should also be charged property tax. these are ways to generate revenue . Enforce traffic rules, make sure every vehicle on the road is registered and insured (you pay taxes on that money as well ), imagine how much revenue Nigeria would generate just by giving out traffic tickets, if those can be enforced. If you sell pencil, you pay tax, if you buy one, you pay tax. youghs: All we need to do is to make tax the major source of revenue. If we can get 15-20% tax to GDP ratio, Everyone will be surprised with where the country would be a decade after. |
