Yeye monarchs lol.
DubaiLandLord:
The Commander of the Ekiti State Security Network (Amotekun), Brigadier Joe Komolafe, has confirmed the abduction of another traditional ruler and Eleda of Eda Ile, in Ekiti East Local government area of Ekiti State, Oba Benjamin Oso.

The monarch was seized at his Farm in the presence of his wife and whisked to unknown place in the evil forest on Friday evening.

This is coming barely two months the Obaadu of Ilemeso, in Oye local government, Oba David Oyewumi, suffered a similar fate.

DAILY INDEPENDENT learnt that from an anonymous source in the community that “the Oba and the wife went to farm and were accosted by these gunmen. The two would have been kidnapped, but the monarch begged the bandits to free his wife, which they agreed with.”

Akomolafe, however, said that all the security outfits in Ekiti, including police, soldiers, Amotekun Corps, local hunters and vigilante groups, are already in the forests searching for the monarch.

But it might also be hard if these fvkers are highly mobile.
This week they might be in one location, the next they are somewhere else entirely, it becomes difficult to even find them. Not like our intelligence gathering capabilities are top notch

Whyem15:

Whether fake or not, NAF should be concerned and work further to improve on base protection. One of NAF regiments base was attacked yesterday and it is reported that all within were killed. There is a video of a bandit boasting about how he specializes in raiding military vehicles including APCs. The military should really be concerned about this bandits. They will be easier to deal with because they are just after money and wealth, no ideology and are not interested in establishing a state. The more time it takes for the military to end them the stronger they get.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by sizzorchan: 7:39pm On Jun 26, 2021
Just thinking out loud here, can't they put some sort of sensors around these bases, outside it's fencing, if they even have fences self. And once triggered you know there is movement, then again, animals could also trigger it i guess. It's weird how these guys keep getting close to military installations without being seen.
Everything around these bases should have been leveled by now, vegetation, buildings, etc, get rid of them and have open clearing all around, any one manning the towers can then have good view.

DubaiLandLord:
Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group, has tried to take over the Nigerian Air Force base in Kaduna on Saturday morning, FIJ has learnt.

An Air Force offiicial told FIJ that as of 6 am on Saturday, a gunfight between the terrorists and military personnel that lasted for close to two hours was ongoing. The terrorists had attacked the base from the back side. The Air Force base, which is large in expanse, is susceptible to being porous.

This attack comes two days after herdsmen went to a Nigerian Army barracks in Jaji, Kaduna, and stole cows. It is unconfirmed whether there were human casualties, but sporadic shootings were reported.

And the funny thing also, the police can be effective if they choose to, seeing those pics, i was proud of what they've done, but they gotta keep it up, if same thing had been done with BH etc, they wouldn't have become the monster they are now.

How many stolen children are in the hands of these terrorists? that's the point, we don't know how he ended up there. which is my point, that a country should do more to protect its children

Stormtrooper11:

Bro, i get what you meant. But about giving these kids choices, its very different than what you think. I happened to live in rural kano for more than a year. A place where you couldn't access mobile network most of the time. I lived among almajiris. I noticed something. Every kid goes to an islamiyya. From a tender age, you get to be soaked into the fundamentals of Islam. Each islamiyya has its scholars. An each scholars wants to have more followers. So some scholars manipulates the teaching of Islam to change the idealogy of the kids. My point is alot of people in that rural area don't mind joining ISWAP. They hate boko haram cause it kills Muslims. Those kids wanna join those terrorists organisations because they feel its the right way. They feel its an obligation. Don't get me wrong. I'm Muslim too. I don't hate on people beliefs

Like the fool says, "Sense is priceless"

Now this fool is now comparing individuals who aren't kids, some are over 16, who made a conscious decision to go overseas and join terror networks, to a poor kid in Nigeria who probably never had a choice in what he was made to do or people he was forced to associate with? or how he ended up there.
You are right, sense is indeed priceless, and yours is faulty.

Give that boy a choice btw living in the forest with bunch of terrorists or live with a loving family, which one do you think he'd choose? What an idiotic comparison.

Negotiate? lol. dey don turn humans into cattles. maybe the FG go dey give them allowance like those in delta. this is a bad idea.
there's nothing to negotiate over, they are criminals breaking the law

DubaiLandLord:
No School Is Safe Until Government Negotiates With Bandits - Gumi

A respected Islamic cleric, Sheik Abubakar Gumi, has said there are about 100,000 armed bandits in the North-West alone.

Gumi said the bandits kidnapping school pupils were disappointed that he negotiated with them without the involvement of the Federal Government.

The cleric insisted that until the government engaged with the herdsmen, no school could be safe.

He stated these during an interview with The PUNCH on efforts to rescue the kidnapped pupils of Tegina Islamic School, Niger State.

The bandits had demanded N200m from the victims’ parents, which was later reduced to N150m. Gumi said despite efforts to get the pupils out, the bandits were adamant in their financial demand.

He said, “But we are trying to talk sense to them that these are just innocent schoolchildren. We don’t even have any idea of the condition of the children. We are just saying these are young children trying to study and they did nothing, so why are you trying to take dirty money from their families?

“This (kidnap of Islamic pupils) actually proves to the nation that the bandits are not really indoctrinated, they are just looking for money and I think that this is a good prognosis. They are not targeting a religion; they are not ideologues, which are difficult to deal with. We should not forget that they are not educated, formally or informally. They are just going about with cattle, and suddenly they found a lucrative way of finding money.

“But with good engagement, education and enticements like jobs and other things, they will leave this work. But we need a partner and we need the government to understand. Individuals like me alone cannot do it.

“All those we met (have stopped kidnapping), except for one of them who is kidnapping again, and he told us his reason, that he was neglected and he thought we had the mandate to negotiate. But when he realised that we did not have the mandate from anybody, he said he was going back to his business.

“So, the earlier we go into engaging them, the better. The ones who have agreed to lay down arms, you can engineer them to take care of the rest.”

Gumi said the Niger State Government had been making efforts to get the children released, adding that the state had limited resources.

He insisted that the government could not protect schools without first finding means to end banditry in the country.

“To secure schools, why not engage the bandits. Engage them; they are not many. You can count them with your fingers. How can you guard schools? It is not possible. In the whole North-West, they may not be more than 100,000 bandits. And that is just a drop in the ocean. That is talking about those with weapons; because not all of them have weapons. Ninety per cent of those who have weapons use them to protect themselves against cattle rustlers. They are victims too. Aerial bombardments will only worsen the situation because when you start killing their children, you remember they also have our children,” he added.

https://punchng.com/no-school-is-safe-until-govt-negotiates-with-bandits-says-gumi/

Even if Gumi tell the NPF the day, time and name of school that will be attack by bandits, the NPF won't still be able to stop them when they come to attack the school

what do you know about his parents? nothing. for all we know that kid could have been kidnapped etc, if we have better country, he wouldn't end up like this. so yes, his country and society failed him, and he isn't the only one. more kids are in those camps. they sure aren't there due to their own fault, they are kids
And I'm not saying its wrong that he got killed as presumably a combatant, it happens in war, it's simply sad

Me i don rest since now, na you put your mouth where e no belong.
I never said war dead shouldn't be honored, learn to comprehend what you read.
I said we can't hold parade for every dead soldier, yet we've seen pics of dead soldiers given proper burial. Or you didn't read the part where i said it wasn't perfect? Or you just wish to run your mouth this morning.
what am i justifying?. Yes we are at war, don't expect a freaking parade for each time we lose soldiers, even America doesn't do that, they get buried at Arlington National Cemetery , give them their final gun salute etc and hand over a flag to the loved ones and that's it, benefits etc follows.
Point of the convo was the whole parade and state funeral thing, if you lose soldiers constantly, it's not something that will be done.
Show me the over 3,000 videos of US troops dead in Iraq or Afghanistan being given a state funeral. for where.
We run some of the most useless security agencies in the world grin, I'm certainly not biased, but coming here day and night to b!tch about it won't change sh!t

joshingjosh:

Baba rest how do you guys even sleep at night when you justify things that doesn't make sense? sad sad...now you want to use "we are at war" as an excuse for not honouring fallen heroes?? sad sad

Let me give few instances
1) The time we lost 100+ men(can't remember the actual location, a company or so was attacked and almost wiped out) what did the president do, he went to commission a railway station at Lagos instead of attending burial of soldiers

2) The COAS died on official duty, did the president attend the burial?? What of vice??

3) One happened recently a major died together with some soldiers, but the focus was just on the major and it was a if the soldiers were worthless.

How do you then tell soldiers and officers that their sacrifice is been acknowledged??

I still praise Ret. Air marshal Sadiq Baba.

We have seen in situation whereby US will fly a single dead soldier in a C130 from middle East down to the states (am not comparing US with Nigeria). All am trying to say it that these men deserves to be buried with honour war or no war.

I rest my case

Because you are always looking for a reason to criticize the Military / Govt or police, not that they don't deserve it, but not everything warrant comparison, they did what they did for a single dead soldier, not mass casualty, Nigeria honor it's war dead too, might not be perfect, but they do, we've seen the pics here. So you expect such for every single soldier who died in our war? How does that make sense? Because then they'd all have to quit their jobs to throw a parade.
It's easy to do this when you aren't at war and you lose 1 or 2 soldiers, but in our case, we've lost too many, this won't make sense to do.
We are at war they aren't

Isn't that what I've been saying? yessss, they have to consider other aspects of such conflict, we are saying the same thing. I'm tired grin.
But to say we can be armed enough to make the US think twice before attacking us? lol, that's a funny joke, do you have any idea how many billions that we don't have, we would need to spend? grin grin.
Anyways, balance, that's all we are saying here, don't spend grocery money on bullets.
iblawi:

Who asked the question?

You don't need to be as armed as the US or NATO or Russia. Just give who ever your enemy is a reason to reconsider their actions just as North Korea did with US, same with Iran. That is all that matter.

No nation is as armed as US but they select who they want to go to war with. They will reconsider their actions more than 100 times to engage some country in war, some like 10X and some need to consideration at all.

This is not because US won't win any of them but they also want to avoid losing citizens not even their military personnels.

You are shifting things, no one is saying countries shouldn't spend on security, Issue was can a country like Nigeria arm itself enough to fend of an attack from the US, once again, the answer is HELL NO. enough said. We arm up to be the neighborhood strong guys, that's about it, other than that let's focus on our people

iblawi:

When life of citizens is threatened you think security before infrastructure. Be it internal or external threat. Even during peace time reasonable amount of money should still be spent on security Incase of emergency.

Nigeria have been spending far less on security even now that her citizens life is threatened not to talk of peace time.

Libya made same mistake even though they were way better than Nigeria.

No one is saying you shouldn't build infrastructure, but safety of the people comes first and you have to spend base on the threat facing the Nation.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by sizzorchan: 6:49pm On Jun 19, 2021
And I"m telling you this is how the entire country works, which is how many times bigger than Nigeria? let's stop making excuses, the nigeria police is a very useless force. There are good officers, but there's so much they can do without adequate support system.
I'm talking about distribution of forces, constant patrols of sensitive areas, placing police stations within certain locations for prompt response time etc, pretty much all the entire police force in America operate in similar way. Yet the US is massive compared to Nigeria.
Poor planning, lack of resources and adequate training is the problem.
What landmass are you talking about when cops stop chasing a suspect that's only ahead of them by a few yards? lol. please.
The will isn't there, most cops in nigeria don't wanna risk their lives for silly pay and zero protection for officers, why risk it

youghs:

Guess you didn't get the point,

When you have a well built 700km sq area or anything like that, you can have cops almost every where. The response to crime would be very fast, 5 Min, 10min, 15min response time, if you respond to a crime within such a short time, you can be rest assured the criminal/s wouldn't have gone far, so you can lock down the entire neighborhood and search from blocs to blocs.

The tactics only work in cities or urban areas, it can't really work in rural areas or poorly built cities where there are no substantial Town planning.
So that's why I said you can't really compare, not trying to absolve police of incompetence to provide security.

I'm saying there needs to be a balance btw both.
The convo we were having was can we arm ourselves good enough to deter an attack from a country like the USA, the answer is no, not affordable, on top of that it will take decades to modernize our armed forces etc, why waste all that money when tens of millions of the people are jobless and poor

kabe1:

Are you saying Nigeria should not invest in security?

Or are you saying Nigeria is not investing in infrastructure?

Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by sizzorchan: 3:36pm On Jun 19, 2021
I've answered why, and my answer is simplified of course

iblawi:

Russia came in much later. At least the war was over a year before Russia came in. The whole invasion of Libya didn't last more than a week or 2 (at least to have dominated militarily). Mauman Gadafi had to run/hide before he was killed months later.

Why haven't they attacked North Korea or Iran?

Once again, making my case for me, I mean, of all countries to mention, you mentioned North Korea? lol. Go and live there for 2 weeks, then come back and tell us how dandy it is over there.
What is the consequence of the way their Govt operates? Massive poverty and hunger, that's the point I'm making, don't use all your money on arms while your people are hungry, you gotta find a balance, but sadly that balance will never be enough to deter US military from wiping you out, unless you have a sugar daddy. NK have China, Syria have Russia.
on top of that, if the US attack them, they could unleash portable nuclear device on South Korea or Japan, these are issues the US will consider before attacking a country like NK, not because they can not.
I mean, most of their military arsenals are outdated, sheet.

kemicalreact:
@bolded LMAO. I don't want to underestimate the suffering of the Iranians, but their standard of living is way better compared to Nigeria which is not under any sanction. I've said it before and I've used New York as an example.
In Nigeria i think our security agencies simply stop chasing suspects once they turn a corner and no longer have eyes on them lol.
In New York though, they will seal off the entire neighborhood until those criminals are found, because they know if they get away, they will commit crime again.
It's weird how suspects keep escaping with gunshot wounds over and over
