SO WHAT IS YOUR POINT

Ijaws or other southerners can rule now; no problem with that at all; we are brothers. But Igbo must rule before another Yoruba. Go and save this very statement in the Bank. No Yoruba for now. Let us recover from the mess they created before they come and create a new mess.
lol you are a fool if you think igbo man will vote for ijaw man, over an igbo man.

are the igbos not making jest of goodluck?

No matter how yoruba's disagree, they will always reach a compromise. The language is powerful it carries a unifying undertone . but when igbo's war?only God can intervene. .Check Uba/Ngige, chris uba/Andy Uba. .Blood brothers who cant see eye to eye even till today because of power.it's that bad.Igbo's should forget presidency.even south south would smell it long before you
I predict an ijaw, edo, urhobo, or somone from akaw ibom

If these wicked beasts in so-called government have decided to close one means to an end for the destitute then they better open another avenue otherwise it will be just another anti-masses, anti-poor policy as usual.

If they fail to set up welfare programs to address the needs of the poor(which will probably be the case) then the destitute should learn from anambra folks. They will be justified in doing so.

nigerians alwayz move in reverse. what a joke
.
The same anambra folks who are kidnapping and being kidnapped everyday ?

RIGHT, NOT A GOOD IDEA

slowpoke, Igbos have had far more national exposure than Yoruba since independence. Make a list and see for yourself. Obasanjo brought you guys out from your tribal cocoons only just recently. He should be the new Yoruba leader for showing you guys how to play national politics
WHAT ARE YOU SAYIN I THOUGHT IGBOS CLAIMED TO BE UNDERREPRESENTED IN NIGERIA- YOU PEOPLE DONT KNOW WHICH LIE TO TELL

OBJ WAS SEEN AS A NATIONAL CORRUPT LEADER, NOT A YORUBA MAN AND WE DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM
PoliticsRe: Fashola To Run For Governorship Of 6+ States In Next Election. by sjeezy8: 4:29pm On Aug 25, 2009
Afaukwu:
Who is the good leader in SW? Fashola? It takes more than Lagos gov to rule Nigeria. Moreover he has broken the constitution at least twice
1: deporting fellow Nigerians
2. creating LGA against the letters of the constitution.
I doubt if Fashola is performing better than Obi or even Ohakim. It is a matter of press coverage and the fact that Lagos is already much more developed (being the former federal capital) way before Fashola got in, so it takes just a little effort to get things going. Fashola cannot perform elsewhere, for instance in rustic states like Osun or Ekiti.
Let's see who will vote for him except Yoruba; and of course we know Yoruba votes are only for Yorubas (masters of political tribalism). They voted for their man in 1999 (Falae) and he failed woefully just like Awo; history will soon repeat itself. Yoruba vote for Yoruba is politically meaningless
its it not you igbos that said you were not happy with obi?

IF HES NOT PERFORMING BETTER THEN OBI OR OHAKIM, THEN WHY IS HE ON CNN NEWS AND BBC NEWS AS NIGERIA'S YOUNGEST AND MOST PROMISING GOVENOR

YOU PEOPLE CAN HATE OHHHHH

Do Yoruba love and trust themselves? Go ask Abiola, Diya, Shonekan and Obasanjo (June 12). Ask Awo and Akintola. Ask Oni and Fayose; ask Agagu and Mimiko; ask Akala and Ladoja. Then go ask Fashola who deported fellow Yoruba from parts of Yorubaland. Hypocrits.
THAT DOESN'T HOLD US BACK FROM PROGRESSING

You people dont even get to national level period

Afaukwu:
Yoruba will have to wait until others rule too. They had their turn between 1999 and 2007 and all we got were mismanagement and looting of the highest order. Plus, Fashola worsened the situation by antagonizing others through this deportation of fellow Nigerians. Let him finish with Lagos and go home to rest. No Yoruba presidency for now, except they are indicating that they are also greedy for power like their hausa/fulani brothers.
ITS NOT ABOUT TRIBES FASHOLA IS PERFORMING THE BEST

IGBOS CAN NEVER LET TRIBALISM GO

Why should everyone vote him for president? Is he from the South East or South South? Last time i checked, he is a Yoruba.
When you find a good leader from the SE or SS we'll vote for him, but till then shut the Bleep up

Afaukwu:
Nada. He lost it by deporting fellow Nigerians. I thought you guys say he is not interested in the presidency and that you people dont care if he does not rule? Hypocrits of the first order
What are you sayin? Hes not interested in presidency- Lagosians still want him to be Lagos governor, not the president. Theres no hypocrisy there
If hes on the ballot to be president we will vote for him but we rather his GOVERNORSHIP

You will never meet a lagosian who says they dont care if Fashola rules - so stop lyin

infact i hope he doesn't become president and STAYS LAGOS GOVERNOR

BUT IF HE DECIDES TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT, HE HAS ALL OF LAGOS BEHIND HIM!!!!!

The fact is that Igboland (the land thousands of years older than any Nigerian state and Nigeria itself) stretches far past the five 'Igbo' states that are now known in Nigeria. Anybody who knows anything about Nigeria would know about the "Western Igbo" also called the "Delta Igbo" but more precisely the Ika, the Anioma, etc.

You were the same person accusing me of not being Nigerian, how have you now proved with your stupid post that you have even read an article on Nigeria?
Why would i need to read an article on Nigeria IM NIGERIAN

igboland streches more but they wont break up states in order to be apart of biafra

So, that is the next step in eradicating poverty!
The federal government is obligated to better the north, Which they aren't. One cant blame LOCAL governments for banning begging. Local Governments shouldn't be taking responsibility for failed governments of surrounding states.
Mind you most of these beggars are MIGRANTS from failed states and Niger republic.

Now I get you. My opinion is that Fashola has begun to establish some form of sanity and lawfulness. Lagos had become a dump for the rest of Nigeria and for indigenes, we found this very unacceptable. How many people will be proud of their state being known worldwide as dirty and chaotic? Fashola deserves credit for taking on issues that many thought were impossible. Better yet, being someone who grew up in Lagos before the mass exodus that left it a mess, he could appreciate back during Gowon's days when we could take blankets to the water front at Marina, spread them out, and have picnics into late hours of the night while watching the beautiful lights of ships sailing into the habour. We never had to worry about crime or people excreting along the shore of the Marina.

The one thing that I still hold against Murtala Muhammed was how he imported almajiris in trailers from the North and dumped them at Oyingbo. They soon migrated all over Lagos and Marina, excreting anywhere that they could. Trust me when I say Lagos was like Abuja then, and you could feel comfortable picking up candy that you dropped on the street, wiping it off and eating it. Remember that the Queen of England visited Lagos back then during Gowon's leadership. Try to find pictures of that event. Tinubu square used to have fountains running especially during the weekends. Kids used to play in these fountains, and we usually had Carnival caravans coming from all over the world to visit Lagos. I can remember things like a British Christian Ship named MVP Logos, that came to Lagos. It was open to the public, and people went there to tour and buy Christian books.

Lagos also had many attractions and forms of recreation including parks, Various amusement rides and shows, we had places with bumper cars and a lot more. Power was constant and noone had to worry about it. Takwa Bay was prettier than Florida then and visiting there was like a trip to Hawaii complete with pristine blue clear glassy waters and rental huts with well stocked bars. This is the Lagos that I grew up in. Murtala Muhammed changed it into the dirty place that we recently knew it as. It was a strong tourist attraction and many came from all over the world to visit it.

How should people like me feel looking at how Lagos has degressed? I bet Fashola feels the same way. Visit Abuja and you'd feel like you are in Miami even without the ocean next to it. Lagosians who grew up and knew Lagos from what it was owe it to their future generations to bring it back to it's times of prominence. We have been badly diluted with people who have no clue of how to live in civilization. With Surulere and Apapa basically gone to the docks, we are left with the Lekki-Ajah and Badagry areas to bring back the livestyles that was once Lagos. What do today's kids have for recreation apart from getting drunk and prostitution? Lagos used to be a place full og dignified people. I support Fashola 100% for attempting to bring back the rightful progressive nature of Lagos state.
Very true surulere and apapa weren't always like that. My parents always recall the times when they grew up before all the migrants came and congested EKO. The eko i know outside of my area and off the island is hell.

larez:
The bridge that you refer to as fourth mainland bridge is infact an excellent idea, and should have been done like 10 years ago. Have you seen the Lekki Masterplan? This bridge infact connects the Lekki-Ajah corridor to the Ikorodu-Sagamu axis. My only problem with it is the termination point. Even though it branches into Ikorodu, it should continue further and connect to the Ikorodu-Sagamu expressway at the Itoikin road junction. Trust me on this, my background is in Planning/design with lots of experience in the United States.

Even though Lagos State claims overpasses and ramps are expensive to build, I will however advice that they should be done regardless. Using roundabouts as substitutes will be regretted in the future. If the roundabouts are being considered as interim options, then the government should make sure that they acquire the properties that will be needed for the overpasses and ramps in the near future. This near future may come much sooner than expected. The cost of the real estate at that point will be ridiculous.
The bridge is a good idea if it MUST be done, but for now I think Fashola needs to focus on congestion in mainland. I've seen the lekki master plan and i feel the 4mainland bridge  is mainly about the future booming real estate in Ikorodu. Lagosian middle and upper class are buying land in Ikorodu but it looks like their neglecting mainland AGAIN.

The bridge to me is like going around the REAL problem MAINLAND, but then again with no help from federal government limited things can only be done.

But since these developments are already in action they might as well extend it  to the Ikorodu-Sagamu expressway.

Allow fashola concentrate on the task at hand.there's still so much to be done.roads need fixing, badagry expansion is underway, there's sill so much to do in education.fourth mainland bridge still pending, traffic congestions everywhere.lekki-epe expansion underway

you people should leave him alone and stop disturbing with your misguiding suggestions and statements
fourth mainland bridge is a terrible idea, he should just deal with mainland congestion 4 BRIDGES all going the same way is crazy
PoliticsRe: Lagos “deports” 160 Northern Beggers by sjeezy8: 11:57am On Aug 25, 2009
All nigerian states need to look out for their own for the most part and not have migrants move to cities with no basic education or skill. Good education starts in your OWN state where you were born. All governments should make the well being of their citizens priority and if we do that the whole country will do better.
