You only get deported if you are illegal in a country or you are not a naturalised citizen and commit a very serious offence . . . . now begging isn't a serious offense is it?

So your problem is the millions illiterate? Do you know that some 100 - 150 years back your ancestor doesnt read and write? Literacy and Illetracy have no bearing in immigration in Africa. The idea of ECOWAS was well thought through. The problem of a society shouldnt eclipse its good and benefits. The countries we have in West Africa are colonial boundries and there have never bn official seperation btw many boader African countries. There are Yoruba in Benin Republic and some part of Togo. There are Hausa ppl in Cameroon, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Mali, there are Tiv in Cameroon. We cannot allow artificial political boundries to seperate ppl with common destiny.

Imagine there is no ECOWAS and that every Nigerian that travel to Benin Republic, Ghana, Togo and Niger, Cameroon have to go to their Embassy to get a visa? Do you know how much these countrys will make.

The deportation of beggars has nothing to do with taxes. Don't beat a dead dog.
If it it had anything to do with taxes, no less than 90% of Lagosians would have been deported or jailed. Why not gala sellers or carpenters? Ok, you might argue that they provide value, but that doesn't mean they pay taxes. What about area boys? They pay no taxes and to make matters wores, unlike beggars they tend to be very dangerous, aggressive and a threat to society.
Lets forget about tax, the reasons are elsewhere.

Incase you have forgotten America as a country is formed by many states, who by then have no western education. The idea of unity have nothing to do with going to school. Even in more develop society not everybody go to school. The idea of Economic Area is to develop and collective effort can yield result. India as a country is almost the same population as Nigeria and they are making giant strides towards development. Western education alone cannot bring development. There is need for cheap labour. Free movement of labour is central to development of any country. When you restrict movement of ppl, you restrict movement of skill

Europe after many bitter wars have finally realised that a region united by political and economic centre is more strong that smaller tiny entity.

That is the idea of ECOWAS. It is not about protecting meager resources. It is about harnessing the larger benefits of human and perharps material resouces. I know we are not America. We are Africans. If not because of Economic & political instability we would hav bn using the same currency by now just like

First of all there is nothing like protecting our borders against Nigeriens. As ECOWAS states we can move freely within Ecowas communities without the need of passport. Asking ppl to stay in their own states is like killing mankind. Just because we have political boarders those not mean that people should not move. Human beings hav bn over centuries and ppl should be allowed to move to whereever they want. And once you agree to become a country, then there should be no restriction as to where ppl should move and who should move from one state to another.

Sannu Hauwa. There is nothing like adopting Lagos as home when you dont have a place to sleep. I doubt if these ppl have homes in Lagos. However, wether Lagos is their home or not they are Nigerians. They are also human. Governments should be rational.
