The kind of grammar many of those guys from up North spoke during my NYSC in our platoon group was nothing to write home about, and it obviously because they were not taught well.
BusinessRe: 16 Companies Exit Onne Free Trade Zone by sk4real2(m): 11:17am On Nov 20, 2017
BUHARI IS A PLAGUE
nwakibie3:
It emerged at the weekend that no fewer than 16 companies have withdrawn their operations from the Onne Free Trade Zone.

This comes as the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) has been accused of damaging the concept of free trade zones in the country.

A Port Harcourt based oil and gas industry expert, Dr. Austin Obieze linked the exit of the 16 companies to what he described as “rogue behaviour” towards free zone operators in the country.

Speaking at the weekend in Port Harcourt, Obieze said the recent attack by OGFZA against a leading free trade zone operator, Intels Nigeria Limited (INL), sent the wrong signal and created panic among businesses operating in the zones.

“It was a very bad move by OGFZA, which was set up to promote trade and attract investors into the country through the oil and gas free zones concept. OGFZA, under Umana Okon Umana are doing the direct opposite of what it was established to do,” Obieze said.

He said by OGFZA’s action against Intels, free trade zones operation in Nigeria “cannot be the same again” as investors will find it difficult to take government for its words.

He said: “Free trade zones all over the world are created to serve as destination for capital; attract investment, create jobs and aid the transfer of technology to the host country. Free trade zones played a key role in the boom enjoyed by the Asian Tigers.

“The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) and the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) were specifically set up by the Federal Government to encourage investments in Nigeria in line with the country’s economic growth aspirations.

“Several incentives were instituted including 100% repatriation of capital investment, remittance of profits and dividends with no import or export licenses required.

“Companies operating in the free zones also enjoy immigration non-quota regime and are exempt from taxes such as value added tax, corporate tax, withholding tax, capital gains tax and customs duty on export of goods to other countries.

“It was these incentives that attracted several companies resulting in over five trillion naira investments in the zones, with several thousands of jobs created.

“NEPZA and OGFZA were set up to serve as enablers of trade but unfortunately while NEPZA has remained on course, Umana’s OGFZA has obviously lend itself to becoming an object of political vendetta and consequently derailed from its set objectives and the intents of its enabling Act.”

Among the 16 companies that have decided to exit the free zone are Prodeco International Limited, West Africa Machinery Services (WAMS), MGM Logistics Solutions Limited and Orlean Invest Limited.

Also speaking on OGFZA’s battle against Intels, The Managing Director/COO of Samsung Heavy Industries in Nigeria, Mr. Frank Ejizu, said: “You cannot be wooing investors on one hand and scaring them away on the other hand. It will not work. If there was a violation of the law, then there is a ground for sanction.”

The General Manager, Finance of the Lagos Channel Management Company Limited, Mr. Joseph Amoni, said the action of the government would scare foreign investors away from the country.

Also, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Maritime Safety, Education and Administration, Mohammed Umar Bago, said the situation was “getting sour”.

A former Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Maritime Matters, Mr. Leke Oyewole, on his part, warned against the political witch-hunt against Intels.

NIGERIA: THE DREAMLESS TODDLER AT 57!
BY
Steven Kefason

In America, an average citizen does his or her business with the consciousness of the American Dream. The American Dream, as it were, guides the citizens in their daily endeavours. Their founding fathers dreamt dreams which they built their nation upon - the American Dream. Such dreams are taught in schools and at worship centres for familiarity purposes. These dreams have been the secret behind the rise of America into becoming a world super power. Virtually all past and present leaders of America have always led by the contents of the American Dream. The American Dream is rooted in the declaration of Independence, which proclaims that "all men are created equal" with the "right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." What then is the American Dream? According to wikipedia, in the definition of the American Dream by James Truslow Adams in 1931 "life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" regardless of social class or circumstances of birth. What a dream for a nation that means business! To the crux of the matter. Growing up as a little boy in Nigeria, my father used to buy me beautiful current affairs literatures, reading which was mandatory because the old man would always ask me questions to be sure I read every page of the books. I learnt a lot about the Nigerian history both pre and post Independence. Prior to the Nigerian Independence in October 1960, Britain subjected us to colonialism where they set up colonies to rule and monitor our existence as though we were some purchased slaves. This continued until 1953 when a brave young man by name Anthony Eromosele Enahoro moved the motion for Nigeria's Independence. The motion suffered setback but eventually scaled through in 1959 when the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa proposed another motion for independence and as a result of the ever recurring Enahoro's motion, the colonialists had no option but to succumb to the sustained pressure and granted Nigeria her Independence on 1st of October 1960. The nation was thrown into festive mood as different ethnic groups went into celebration of what they believed to be freedom fro colonial subjugation. The new nation began to operate and fend for herself with little manipulation as was the case before 1st October 1960. Less than a decade into Independence, however, the new nation went into a needless civil war, a war many believed was avoidable if there were genuine dreams to guide the operation of the nation. Millions of people including women and children were sent to their early graves in tragic circumstances. The War which began in 1967 eventually ended 30 months later in 1970, but the scars it created still live with the nation till date, sometimes even very fresh. One would have expected that after the war, our founding fathers - some of whom were still alive then, would have sat down and written a workable document like the famous and ever relevant American Dream, to guide the citizens in their daily endeavors with sincere systems of checks and balances in place to ensure compliance. Sadly, only a few attempted to proffer truly patriotic and far-reaching practical answers to the many questions that followed the war-the majority only paid lip service to the issue then as they have continued to do ever since. Less than a decade after the civil war, precisely on 1st October 1979, democratic rule returned to Nigeria with renewed hope for better things, the young democracy was later truncated by yet another military coup headed by General Muhammadu Buhari, another vacuum was thus created in the country's political space. Just like every other coup prior to the 1979 coup, the coupists always gave corruption and bad governance as yardsticks for such coups, what baffles Nigerians most is the fact that all incoming regimes proved to be worse than the ones ousted. The search for the Nigerian Dream continued to die slowly with incessant military coups knifing their way through its very heart. It makes one wonder if independence was a blessing or a curse. Our education system is on nose-dive to constant deterioration, with more and more graduates having a difficult time gaining employment into establishments - private or government. The existing industries lack consolidation while the few surviving ones are forced into extinction by harsh government policies on the one hand and lack of them on the other. Entrepreneurs lack the capital to realize their ideas. And our youths have resorted to anti-social behaviours such as kidnapping, armed robbery, terrorism, child trafficking, drugs...you name it. Most recently the long-planted seeds of hate have begun to bear catastrophic fruits thereby dividing people along tribal and ethnic cleavages, with their attendant devastating consequences. Considerations for appointment have now become limited to regional separations and the rise of individualism has reached an all-time high. Yet again, I wonder if the efforts of our founding fathers were worth the try. Corruption has been growing like unchecked cancer crops and greedy leaders who never meant well for the nation, who never had an iota of concern for the not-so-clear dream of the people of a nation, resorted to looting and squandering of our common patrimony which provokes the question: Is the Nigerian dream a façadehuh Going by physical manifestations, it so seems but in our hearts resides a strong belief of hope, a seed of mustard faith, a sincere longing for the better - a glimmer of positive enthusiasm that Nigeria will be GREAT!!! But then, respectable leaders - the corrupt and incorruptible, Youths and Women groups, stakeholders of the Nigerian cause, MUST come together, putting aside their differences and vices and put heads and hands together to build a Nigeria that works. As a task, they MUST come up with a MANUSCRIPT containing clear pictures put in words, characterised by selflessness and commitment to the cause - the building of the Nigerian Dream . It should serve like a code of conduct for all irrespective of class, tribe, region, ethnicity or religion. This is achievable! One Nation under God.
Happy 57th Independence anniversary to Nigeria and Nigerians.

[The Resurrection of Idi Amin Dada in Nigeria]

In the purported interview the cardinal had to give a disclaimer for, the cardinal was reported to have reminded Mr. President of his notoriety as a dictator and called on Mr. President to stop being a dictator under a democratic government and change himself in order to effectively change others. The report took it too that the cardinal bemoaned lack of respect for court orders, killing of unarmed pro-Biafra activists who dared to question the president’s dictatorship, denying the wounded medical care by further going to the hospitals to arrest them, acting illegally as an oppressor of the people and expect the people not to resist such illegality through peaceful non-violent resistant protests and etc. In the Cardinal's own words according to the purported interview:
“Democracy is all about the rule of law. Three times he has disobeyed court orders in less than a year in office. Disobedience to court orders by those who should protect and ensure its compliance slides the nation into anarchy... When you (government) reply fire for fire I am afraid it does not solve the problem. So, apart from military tactics there is need for more effort as political discussion, reaching out to people”.

What's wrong with the submission above? What has been said about Mr. President that is not sacrosanct over here? Seriously no rational being will see the above and understand why the Cardinal will have to disclaim such instructive submission even if it were not from him. The disclaimer did not only negate the sanctity of that submission, but certainly saw such action as fear even if the cardinal were not guided by fear. And to perceive fear from a highly placed clergy like that is not good for the faith. And because fear activates the enemy, not too long after the disclaimer, we saw the attempt on the cardinal's life along Edo/Ekpoma road.

This brings to mind the assassination of Archbishop Janani Luwum of Uganda in 1977 shortly after delivering a note of protest against the Idi Amin satanically sectional and very repressive regime. In 1977, Archbishop Luwum delivered a note of protest to dictator Idi Amin against the policies of arbitrary killings and unexplained disappearances of citizens. Shortly afterwards, the archbishop and other leading churchmen were accused of treason.
In Nigeria today, we have seen fellow Christians unscrupulously accusing the Cardinal of not criticising Jonathan for corruption, because he was collecting from the public coffers under Jonathan. That's how far these dumb simpletons could go to prove their loyalty to the anarchists and sectionalists in power.

Though the Idi Amin government was a military dictatorship where there was no freedom of expression, we have a democracy here in Nigeria where there should be freedom of expression. Why should the cardinal be intimidated into writing a disclaimer for a position as sacrosanct as the one posited in his name? It is instructive to note that car crash was the official report given for the assassination of the Ugandan Archbishop in 1977 by the Idi Amin dictatorial government, even though the body was riddled with bullets when it was handed back to his family. Given that President Buhari was around that time, the minister of petroleum, under the military government of President Olusegun Obasanjo; it is not surprising that Cardinal Onaiyekan's attempted assassination was designed to look like a car crash too, on the Edo/Ekpoma road with well armed suspected herdsmen ready to spray the cardinal's body with bullets.

This is bringing us closer to who controls the herdsmen and their satanic activities. When Nuhu Ribadu suggested that the Fulani be armed and made to fight bokoharam, he unwittingly revealed who calls the shots with respect to the innumerable atrocities earlier committed, especially against the middlebelters, by the fulani herdsmen. For northern Senators to insist that no herdsmen, no Nigeria; and for Northern Governor's forum to decry the blame on herdsmen for atrocities in Christian communities, etc, are sufficient pointers to know where the problem is coming from. This is not adding the statement of the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Ogbe, on establishing the grazing reserve four months hence for the exclusive benefit of the herdsmen. It is no wonder pipeline vandals would be given bokoharam treatment for vandalising pipes, while herdsmen would be given a grazing reserve for soaking the land with blood of Christians.

Ever after the wanton massacres of Igbo officers and civilians in the Murtala-led July 1966 counter coup, officers (Buhari inclusive) in that coup have always fancied wanton massacres as solution to every problem in Nigeria. Their northern Christian counterparts who participated in the war against the Igbos, were not spared as they returned home to be massacred (in schools and township) too using the faintest of excuses. Senior northern Christian officers were treated shabbily and discharged dishonourably even though they partook actively and strategically in those coups. It is that same mind set that Mr. President carries today - the same mindset the purported interview was challenging Mr. President to change before he could effectively change this country. But clearly Mr. President has not changed his 1966 mindset, thus why we are witnessing such anarchy under his reign. Anarchy that sees to the kidnap and murder of pastors and priests, as well as trigger-happy soldiers murdering southerners at the slightest provocation. Idi Amin played the sectionalist cards by allowing the armed forces to be purged, Buhari is playing the sectionalist card too in the Customs, DSS, Army, Police, and etc; just like Idi Amin. He is allowing sectionalist sentiments to destroy espiri the corp in the armed forces and encouraging members of the security to be high-handed against non-hausa/fulanis across the country. We are witnessing another Idi Amin in PMB. Though this time around, this Idi Amin is not a big black bully who looks ugly; but a tall light complexioned monster who looks handsome. This is why in the previous article of this series I wrote, "A monster is not necessarily a function of how one looks, but how one thinks". Nigerians need to mobilise and occupy Aso Rock now. We need to cast lucifer from the heavens down the depths of hell disregarding that he is the most beautiful of all heavenly creatures.

Arab/Persian Rivalry: My Angle
(Rebellion of an Army)

It is becoming clearer the Sunni/Shi'a rivalry, has also been imported into Nigeria. Some Nigerian Muslims are very good at importing quarrels from elsewhere under the guise of Islamic brotherhood, even though our country is a multi-religious country. The move by the APC led government to have our army among the Arab coalition fighting Houthis in Yemen is a clear indication, our government has taken sides in compounding the nation's problems amidst economic emasculation, political miscalculation and growing internal strife. Lately rumours has it that all military schools in Nigeria ought to close shops to meet the growing demand for troops to combat insurgency. Who knows how many would be exported to join the Arab coalition?
This rivalry between Sunni and Shiite is as a result of a fall out of the diplomatic failure between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein, there was a leak on the American intelligence by the whistle blower. When we read the whistle blower then, we saw Saudi Arabia giving a coded message to America "cut off the snake's head." The snake here is by implication; Iran. Iranians got wind of it and it further soured the relationship between the two countries.

The fall out of this relationship, exacerbated the after-effects of American invasion into Iraq, such that long after America evacuated its troops, Iraq was plagued by violent sectarian crisis between Shi'a and Sunni given that Iraq is a country with a largely Shi'a population.

The Syrian civil war is also a fall out of the Saudi Arabia/Iran rivalry. In order to overthrow Assad, Sunni Muslim volunteers from around the globe were recruited into rebel forces and armed by America. Today, that American backed sunni rebel forces have metamorphosed into what we now see as ISIS and notorious for the most bizarre kind of killings ever witnessed in modern history while recruiting and conducting terrorist activities around the globe. A year ago, Bokoharam pledged alligence to this ISIS. Al-Qaeda too was formed based on American support of the mujaheedins fighting off Russian invasion of Afghanistan in the 80s.

Now, some Nigerian sunni are saying, it will be better they become Christians than they become shiites. Make no mistake, this does not mean love for Christianity - this is simply demonstrating the extent of their hatred for both Christianity and Shiites. They claimed shiites are not Muslims - the constitution allows for freedom of worship. They are not Muslims, so what? Live and let 'em live. Yesterday, it was importing quarrels against the Christians. Today, it is against the Shi'a Muslims. Such Muslims should stop such discrimination and demonisation for a peaceful co-existence in a multi-religious country like Nigeria.

With this Arab/Persian conflict imported into Nigeria by this administration, it could degenerate into a full scale religious crisis with no boundary nor respect for neutrals, because some Muslims could be very irresponsible. This irresponsible Muslims blame everyone for their misfortunes except 'emselves. They blamed Jonathan for hardship in Nigeria, today with Buhari in power, the foundation upon which Nigeria was built is shaky given Buhari's insensitivity to diversity as well as poor understanding of the chemistry of the Nigerian economy. Amidts cry of foul, PMB employed temporary measures against permanent problems when he used Central Bank to peg the dollar at 197 naira. The reality today is around 300 naira to a dollar. But to this day, the APC government do not want to be responsible and take responsibility - they will not stop blaming the last administration for Nigeria's myriads of problems.

They blame the Jews. Then they blame the Christians. So when they find it convenient to blame Christians instead of owning up and taking responsibility, it could degenerate into a religious crisis with Christians as primary targets. A certain Associate Professor with Bayero University Kano Dr. Abdulsamad Umar Jibia, is already playing the blame game by blaming the expelled Jews of Madina (Banu Qurayza) of instigating the formation of the Shi'a sect out of bitterness for their expulsion out of Madina in the seventh century. Isn't it ironical that Iran, a Shi'a stronghold, is about the only nation that doesn't recognise the right of Israel to exist? This Associate professor refused to stop there, he went on to target Adamu Adamu, the one shiite in Buhari's government for expulsion if Buhari were serious about the crackdown on shiites. Is it not becoming clearer why Christians are reduced to size in the civil services and armed forces too? This Associate professor said no matter how good Adamu Adamu is, he must be expelled from the government. Can you beat that?

A new revelation making the waves says bokoharam was targeting Shi'a not sunni. Again, ISIS was targeting Shi'a not sunni. ISIS are being assisted by the Sunni government of Turkey in selling the crude oil of their occupied territories. Russia, a key ally of Shi'a Iran and Shi'a-led Syrian government is fighting ISIS. The coalition of Saudi-led forces is fighting Iran-sponsored Houthis in Yemen. Iran is already threatening Nigeria over the crackdown on Shiites in Zaria by the army last Saturday. Nigeria is broke, and war is costly. We are yet to solve our economic and terrorism problems and PMB is happily inheriting the Arab/Persian conflict by dragging us into a long sectarian conflict on the Arab side against the Persians.

Yes, the army were sufficiently provoked and given the training of a soldier, self defence is key; but the resultant force deployed to clear the roads against fellow citizens is uncalled for. The military authority could arrest all the leaders of the sect, while sending their brainwashed members to a rehabilitation camp instead of wasting 'em the way they did. For crying out loud, the shiites are also citizens of Nigeria and have the right to association and beliefs as enshrined in our constitution, so this talk about their not being Muslims is immaterial and very irresponsible and a tinder for a chain explosion which we don't need in this country at this point of our existence.

The Nigerian army should know by now that those who are not sufficiently aware of the disadvantages of using arms, cannot be sufficiently aware of the advantages of using arms too. This is because weapons are inauspicious tools - they are instruments of bad omen and never to be used by the enlightened. If we come to an impasse where we have no alternative but to use force - it is better we are patient. Shooting civilians down do not always result in awe. It doesn't always quell a problem. On the contrary, it aggravates it, because it creates unnecessary martyrs. The international outcry over that shooting is not worth clearing the roads of miscreants as purportedly claimed by the army.

Using such force, regardless of provocation, as used by the army against civilians the army is detailed to serve, is rebellion even by military standards. The army is more disciplined and known for restraint - it should have employed such. Killing of protesters in Onitsha by members of the security too cannot solve the IPOB problems. The APC-led government should understand that this is democracy and not a military dictatorship where trigger-happy members of the security will pull the trigger carelessly against their employers (Nigerian Citizens). This is not acceptable.

This is not in anyway endorsing the treacherous attitude of the shiites against the army as captured in the circulated video. This is because the army has a standing rule - to overthrow any government that shows her great disrespect. Now military takeovers can be bloody or bloodless. The Shiites in Zaria showed great disrespect to the army, but also took up arms as depicted in that video, thus absolving the army of rebellion. However, I indicted the army in my personal court of opinion, in that they made it bloody, when they could have made it bloodless.

CrimeKaduna State Government And The Continued Illegal Detention Of The Jere 3 by sk4real2(op): 6:44am On Nov 08, 2015
Release The Jere 3 Now.

Around 850BCE, a certain Naboth from Jezreel in Samaria had a vineyard which was in Jezreel next to the palace of king Ahab. Ahab wanted Naboth's vineyard for vegetable garden, because it was near his palace. He offered Naboth a better vineyard or even its worth in money, but Naboth turned down the offer. After Queen Jezebel had Naboth framed and executed, a prophecy of perdition was announced on the house of Ahab.

About two thousand eight hundred and fifty years later, a certain Ayuba Barde from Jere, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State in Nigeria, had a farm in Jere, far away from the palace of the chief of Jere. The chief of Jere was notorious for confiscating lands and wanted to confiscate Ayuba Barde's farm for personal use. He didn't offer Ayuba Barde a better farm nor even its worth in money. Ayuba Barde stood his grounds in defence of his property. A provoked King of Jere who was not used to being defied took the laws into his hands by having Barde shot. Ayuba Barde reacted by putting up self defence and the chief of Jere was beaten.

Both Ayuba Barde and the chief of Jere were hospitalised. The first, from bullet wounds; the second, from cuts. Barde sustained bullet wounds because he stood his ground to defend his right to own properties and his right to life. The chief of Jere got hospitalised because he trespassed on someone else's property, plus he attempted to murder his victim, both of which are crimes within the laws of the land. The State which derives its legitimacy from the same law and has among its responsibilities, protection of the same law; now arrested the boys with Ayuba Barde who acted within the dictates of the law and left free those who should be facing criminal charges for trespassing and attempted murder.

The glaring injustice led a breed of sympathetic lawyers to stand in for the boys and somehow the boys were freed on bail. Though the boys were illegally charged and detained by the state government under Ramalan Yero, due process was followed in ensuring their freedom. Information reaching us at N-Patriots spoke about how the three boys were rearrested and detained by the state government under El-Rufai government, without following due process. Such blatant disregard for the law upon which the government derives its legitimacy is criminalising the activities of the state government under El-Rufai and making it a potent enemy of the people as observed by Thomas Jefferson in his famous statement of restraining government with the law so they don't become legalised criminals.

Given the above, it is the duty of all conscientious citizens of Kaduna state and elsewhere to raise up in unison and join the N-Patriots to say NO TO INJUSTICE and demand for the freedom of the Jere 3. Injustice to one, is injustice to all.

NB:

For a better background information, the Jere chiefdom was established for the fulani settlers during the reign of Governor Ahamed Mohammed Makarfi. Before its establishment, Jere had been the ancestral home of the Gbagyis and Koros. It was enough for the fulanis to have their chiefdom in someone else's ancestral lands. To expect the natives to come under the fulani chief in the natives' ancestral land is most unthinkable in this 21st century and fifty five years after independence. Why should some people have independence at the expense of others in a democratic state where everyone should be equal before the law?

These are the trademarks of Obama's administration;
He armed Isis in Syria, under the guise of supporting Syria's opposition, he ousted Mubarak in Egypt and replaced him with an Islamist, though Israel reversed it, he ousted Gaddafi and created huge chaos in Libya, He legalized Sodomy and now he has given Iran the go ahead with their so-called nuclei energy plant.
With his unfinished foreign engagements everywhere: Afghanistan, Iraq, Tunisia- mention them. He now involves himself with Buhari to fight BH and arm Iran with nuclear weapons.
Inline with all these, I hereby write this short note to PMB
