I am not even talkng about the extension of the cantilever, but the load on top of the extention.
It is really gonna be difficult for our engrs, this is like a younger brother to cantilever helipad..

Chairman Ah Ah!! give us some credit ooo. The only thing I see about this building is the genius thinking in its the architecture.

Do you know that the Extension is Most likely not carrying any more than 40% of the Load and is also most like the 40% its carrying is still getting support from the Top ?

Check out the environment and the exteriors of the buildings and then, see what is lurking behind the old, dated walls
the owner of this project is an architect sha! See the levels of finishing man!! I dey annoy!

2nd pic is the entrance to the building, no give away of what is behind the door...

But this are achievable. Its might be a bit harder in Nigeria due to Materials and Tools which are readily available over there. But it id definitely Possible. Like I say, client is as important in the Process as the Engineer.

Clients have always been a key part of what we do. First we need them to believe. Secondly to be patient and Thirdly to be ready to go the mile with us.

Architect who pulls up such design should be able to get a Structural Engineer who will put up the structural aspect.

So it is not beyond the limits of the Nigerian Engineer. It is only beyond the limits of the individual thinker.

Also the clients should bring the design too. Let’s even start from there. Because non of my clients have agreed on a design with such a cantilever.

Anyway I Dey wait for @Egunmogaji . I believe say me and my Oga go do this kind of building together one day.

deep perception and a clear mindset will get you there. Always have the end in mind when you begin any project.

If you really want to learn how to do that, the UK (central london) is your best bet. The best builders i have come across so far where in London, their finishings were a 110% everytime. Most of those ancient buildings you see in london have interiors from the future ... those guys are 'magicians' where building and refurbishing is concerned. I was made a true believer when the house i was staying in was refurbished with me still inside and there was no disturbance..

Methinks a short/long sojourn there with some of the top builders will do you a lot of good - experience and knowledge wise. You are more than half way there already with your kind of mindset and vision.

I have gained from your comment a lot more that you can imagine.

I see the reason why UK people are very particular about details. All my UK clients are Unique in terms of expectation. What I have learnt in trying to offer them my professional services could never have been taught in school or anywhere. Infact if you haven't worked for a UK Client as a Nigerian Builder, then you have no field experience. If you can work for anyone successfully then Guy, just go and the Sky is your limit.

Infact 110% is the Goal from Now on.

For discuss sake, sometimes last week, i was just moving around my site and came across this site..

Pic attached.

Clearly, the Engineer was filling this swamp land with laterite prior to Foundation. The foundation will be built on this filled 'imported' sand.

The problem with this is that:

-Vegetation was not removed

-Under this vegetation we have about 400-600mm depth of black muddy soil which should also have been removed.

I asked the Engineer If he could do remove the top soil (in a friendly way) but he said there's no need as time will be wasted, labour fees will also be increased and this is how they do it in Ajah where he comes from.

Engineers and Enthusiasts, What do you think? Have you adopted this method of filling and building on the sand?

It shouldn't be a case of try your luck ooo.

First thing first when you have a soil like this you must do a soil analysis and esnure the mud is not more that 200mm Surface thickness. and also ensure before the mud is proper load bearing soil. Once that is ascertain before you can say lets fill.

Then one thing I agree is that you can fill on Grass and Leaves, but but tree Stumps.

The other thing I do not agree with Baba engineer is the red Filling for such a land except he wants to leave for like 3 to 4 years. if he is looking at building immediately, then it should be White filling sand

Final Finishing is always a Difficult part of our Job we still trying to perfect. Little Little Details that needs sorting out will just keep you on site for Longer than planned. trying to ensure perfection that is never Attainable.

I hail Oyinbo People. Dem just know how to do these things with ease.

Travelling around the world has still not gotten me there yet.
