TRUTHTELA: IGNORANCE UNLIMITED, If you ever think Soyina is better than Achebe. Every informed Nigerian, knows how Soyinka got his NOBLE peace prize ( IT WAS BECAUSE HE BELONGS THE SAME FRATERNITY with the founder of NOBLE). and how he associates with corrupt govts in Nigeria. and when they fail to do his BIDDINGS he'll be criticizing them in the media. Soyinka, was the pioneer chairman of FRSC. Soyinka, is a typical ( HYPCOCRITE) yourba man, Soyinka, has done well for himself & will never match the achievements of ACHEBE. I have more respect for Gani, than Soyinka. Achebe? do you know how much of him the world crave for? I have US & european friends that have read & still keep a copy of his EVERGREEN, THINGS FALL APART. Two presidents have begged achebe for a national award & he turned it down. Soyinka never had such an opportunity. Achebe's literature is INDISPENSIBLE globally & have stood the taste of time. Same cannot be said of Soyinka's writing. Be honest to youurselves and GOOGLE their records. Bro, I don't agree with you at all! Did you study literature at all? Did you read Soyinka? How can you say that he didn't deserve the Nobel? And which fraternity are you talking about? Your post epitomizes ignorance on a fresh, exclusive level. |

There's still no basis for comparison. Achebe is great, so is Awojobi. Those saying they've never heard of Awojobi should know that the man died long ago, that's why you may need Google. In thirty or forty years' time, our children may need Google to know Achebe, Soyinka, et al. Most of us know about Gadaffi and Idi Amin, but we don't know about Pol Pot. |

ifyalways: Misleading topic.Speculations and delibrations;nothing more.
Btw,Ogboko does not have the capacity of carrying a university YET.Aside the Rochas free secondary school located there, the place is pretty much isolated. If anyone is thinking of taking a Uni. there,s/he is in for a huge infrastructural work.
Why do the want to move the school from its current location The school is located in the heart of the town where there is practically limited room for expansion. There are no hostels in the schools, students live off camp where their lives are not monitored in any form, giving rise to cultism, rap£, robbery and other egregious behaviours. Relocating to a rural community where there's land will enable reasonable expansion to occur, make the students more contained, reduce cultism and even develop the host community. |

Relax101: Another Bomb Blast Injures Four In Bauchi!
KANO (AFP) – A roadside bomb exploded in the city of Bauchi, injuring four people, the latest in a series of attacks to hit the region in recent months, police said Saturday.
“There was a bomb blast in Wuntin-dada suburb of the city in which four people were injured,” Bauchi State police spokesman Mohammed Barau told AFP.
He said the incident happened Friday evening as workers were returning home.
“The bomb which was planted by the roadside went off as people were closing for the day. Forensic experts have been conducting investigation into the incident and bomb fragments have been taken to Abuja for analysis,” he said.
Barau said no arrests had been made and it was too early to blame any group for the incident.
The radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram has been blamed for scores of bomb and gun attacks in Nigeria, including the capital, Abuja.
The sect claimed responsibility for the August suicide bombing of the UN headquarters in Abuja which killed at least 24 people and coordinated attacks in the country’s northeast last week that left some 150 people dead.

Epiphany: +1: I totally agree
When IBB dies, he will die peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by ministers, former heads of state and maybe even the serving head of state (or at least, a serving VP). He will be given a state burial, that day will be declared a holiday and like Kobo says, the worms will come out of the woodwork on Nairaland to praise the man.
'Afterall, this TRULY, is Nigeria! That's mere lip service, it can't be from the heart. You can't compare his burial with MKO or Gani's, but let him die first. |
